Tool?

I am attempting to gather evidence in an SPI and wonder if there is a tool available that will produce specific word or phrase usage by an account within their contributions. Any Real News Analysis, available anywhere in the Wiki world?

Hi, I consume the media 'news' on broadcast and Internet sources.

But, I am cynical at the editing and bias that is probable, for many reasons. Commercialism, fear, NWO, government policy...

Is there any place on Wiki sites that allows REASONED opinion and analysis of such topics in current event, as the invasion of immigration into the E.U. (i.e. very select countries with the most generous social assistance programmes?). Why is Hungary/Turkey trying to stop that wave of Syrians, really why? Why is this happening now? Who are these people, Sunni, Christian, Kurds, other? Why isn't anyone mentioning Obama's 'fix' of this Civil War a while back via cruise missiles from a Navy battle group off the Lebanese coast? Anyone notice Putin negotiated that gone, and right quick took the Crimean peninsula to his own, without any real objections from the 'free world'? WHY immigration, that is a permanent demographic shift, versus real temporary care of the displaced, and back home they go to the hard work of rebuilding a nation (ala Europe in the 1940-50's_- were Germans to all quit, and all immigrate to Argentina or just the elite get on with life easily...) IS immigration the easy way out? Is this just a North African, Middle Eastern JIHAD through bloodless take-over of another culture? Hasn't France, Sweden, Britain, Germany had enough of the 'religion of peace' within their borders? WHY are these things happening without long term questions being asked, from the recent facts front and centre guiding the 'compassion' of nations, safely. IF you were a homeless or unemployed Brit. what would you think of the offers of housing, education, medical care and open arms to persons who were not born there, and may not pay taxes for a decade or ever (based upon facts of the last 25 years?)? really... This is news, that needs light, not heat. North America IS the destination for many of these poor people. They ought to GO HOME, 'we' end Aussad fast, and rebuild their country... not occupy another, by mass numbers invading it on foot. FACT: 'refugee' camps in Jordan/Lebanon had sanitation, food, water and safety, plus satellite TV in their clean spacious home/shelters... so they drown and suffer, for what? So sad to see a wee lad die and wash up on a beach? Where are the pictures of the dead Christian men, their girls sex slaves, Churches torched in Syria+Iraq+NIgeria??? Empathy NOT yet? The West to either end the war or take them in for 1000 generations ahead, UNTIL the E.U. is Shariah Law. A valid arguement against mass immigration of MILLIONS, mindlessly believing a myth.

WHERE can I opin and read the TRUTH about a problem in our day? The news media won't.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not a news site or a forum for discussion. Wikipedia articles summarise what has been said about article subjects in reliable sources. If you want to suggest how an article can be improved, please discuss on the article's talk page, but note that talk pages are not forums for general debate. There are plenty of other places on the internet for that.--ukexpat (talk) 14:36, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

You may wish to check out the Wikinews sister project [1] , but clearly Wikipedia is not what you want. Categorization in taxonomy

I have raised this question a few times on relevant project talk pages but response appears limited. I would like to know about the categories involving things like "Animals described in [year]", "Fish described in [year]", "Moths described in [year]", etc. since there seem to be quite a lot of articles not categorized into such categories and I would like to know guidelines on what should be categorized as what (as I cannot find a full list of such categories) and if every species (with a given year of description) should be categorized. Could someone please point me to relevant information? The Average Wikipedian (talk) 15:36, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

The parent category (with several layers of heirarchy by century, decade, year, etc.) is at Category:Species by year of formal description. If you wish to add one to the correct category, you would need the year of formal description properly described in the article text itself, and cited to a reliable source, which optimally would be the first published formal description. --Jayron32 16:56, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

How do I get a photo file into an Infobox?

That depends a) where the photo is b) what its copyright status is and c) which infobox (Unfortunately infoboxes are not all the same with regards to images)
If the photo has already been uploaded to Wikimedia:Commons then go to edit the page you want it on and see which infobox is in use, which it will say at the top - e.g. "Infobox school"
Then go to Template:Infobox school (or Template:whichever infobox it is) and it will explain the parameters to insert. Please note that file names are case sensitive, and need to be entered exactly as the file name.
If the image is one you took yourself, and is currently on your computer, then click "Upload file" (under Tools in the left hand column) and upload it to Wikimedia Commons, then follow the first section.
If the image is just one you found on the internet, it almost certainly will be copyright, so can only be used in very exceptional circumstances as a WP:Fair use file - Arjayay (talk) 18:17, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Adding templates to the cite toolbar

When editing a page there is a lovely toolbar that shows up atop the editing box (screenshot of what I'm talking about). One of the sections is "Cite", and under the templates dropdown it lists 4 templates: {{cite web}}, {{cite news}}, {{cite book}} & {{cite journal}}. Is there a way add another template there? Or is there a way to add to this toolbar as a whole? For example if there are certain things I use a lot, can I edit my CSS to have them show up there? If this is possible can someone point me in the right direction of a basic example? --Zackmann08 (^{Talk to me}/_{What I been doing}) 19:39, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

This is done by WP:REFTOOLBAR, but it's not designed to do many other things. You could of course write your own script to do something similar. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 19:41, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

• First off, stop shouting. It is completely unnecessary to type in all caps and it is extremely off putting to try to read a sentence that is written that way. Second, that article has an enormous amount of sources and references. Including a source, written under the name Phyllis Chesler, that disputes you claim that she was never married to a man named Ali. Do you have evidence to your claims? Do you have reliable sources that back up your information? If you do you can add to the page yourself. If you don't then the information that is already there, and already sourced, should stay. --Stabila711 (talk) 21:21, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Hyphen question

I was reading the future DYK to see if mine made it in yet, and ran across Template:Did you know/Preparation area 5, which has:

... that Canadian football player Josh Aladenoye was released from the practice squad of the BC Lions, only to be resigned and make his professional debut a week later?

Am I incorrect in thinking it should be re-signed rather than resigned? Jerod Lycett (talk) 23:57, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

• @Jerodlycett: You are not incorrect at all. Re-signed means that he was kept on by the team. Resigned means he left the team. So Aladenoye was involuntarily resigned (released) but then was re-signed a week later. --Stabila711 (talk) 00:09, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
