in the section personal, the link "thick" is vandalism I believe. Shouldn't the link be dyslexia? please change if you see evidence of vandalism with the word/link "thick" being used to describe Middleton's "abilities".Srbernadette (talk) 01:35, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article's history can be seen here: [1] The edit was vandalism from a few days ago, which I have reverted, and have warned the editor. Thanks. Grayfell (talk) 01:41, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Moira Dunbar was my aunt. The photograph at the top of the article is not Moira Dunbar. A true image of her is visible in note 3 of the article.

Moira Dunbar was a geographer, nor a glaciologist. She used aerial platforms to conduct remote sensing of sea ice and interpreting its signature using photographic, infrared and radar technologies.

I can provide several photographs of my aunt if Wikipedia/the author is interested. In any case the photograph at the top of the article should be replaced with a correct photo of my aunt, or simply removed.

Dougal Dunbar Executor of her estate 70.55.195.166 (talk) 03:25, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Glaciologist could be a sub-category of geographer, the third reference states "Pioneer of Arctic sea-ice research". Wikipedia or commons are always interested in new photos, if you manage to confirm your copyright or a public domain state for a free license, cf. c:Commons:Email_templates for one way to do this. The wrong image here is an example of a "fair use" for an image uploaded here, if you don't have the copyright. You can simply remove the wrong image from the article, any unused "fair use" will be deleted automatically after some time (no idea how long it will take, but all other procedures are more convoluted.) –Be..anyone 💩 04:05, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong geodata added by bot

edit

At the weekend, I created an article for Plymouth Castle. I have no idea how to find the coordinates for the geodata; however one has been added by User:The Anomebot2 which is great, however the data given is 50°23′02″N 4°02′57″W / 50.3839°N 4.0493°W / 50.3839; -4.0493 which points to Plympton Castle, a few miles away from Plymouth. The UK post code of the remains of Plymouth Castle given by English Heritage is PL1 2NX at the far eastern end of Lambhay Street. [2] Can anybody help put it right please? How do i add in my website to the mbira page? www.mbira.co.zw — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.221.154.233 (talk) 11:45, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I'm afraid the answer is that you don't. Wikipedia may not be used for promotion (whether commercial or not) and there are strict limitations on what external links are permitted. --ColinFine (talk) 11:53, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Replacing dead cite urls with archive.org versions

edit

What is the procedure for replacing now dead urls in cites with archived versions? I found a complete copy of the website at the Wayback Machine. -- Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:37, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

See Template:Cite web#Using "archive-url" and "archive-date" (and optionally "dead-url") for webpages that have been archived. --David Biddulph (talk) 12:47, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I knew it's more than just a simple "replace the url" process. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 13:04, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Misplaced

My name is Master Phillip Redmond. I'm one of the senior students under Grandmaster William Cheung. When I did a wiki search I found that there was information missing. First of all. My name and the other senior Master, Keith Mazza in the U.S. weren't mentioned. Also, William Cheung has changed the name of his Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu Association to the Global Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu Association (GTWCKFA). http://www.gtwckfa.org/

You can see the name change in William Cheung's Association on his website. http://www.cheungswingchun.com/

I made the corrections and someone named Chrisw80 deleted them. I made the corrections again and he deleted them again saying that I needed a secondary source even though to the right of William Cheung's wiki page my name and Master Keith Mazza's name is mentioned under notable students

I understand the part about trying to keep Wikipedia accurate so I sent Chrisw80 a message showing a video of the ceremony I performed with William Cheung to become the second of only two people in the U.S. to have had the honor of going through the Bai Si Ceremony. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdC64egflZA

My website shows my Closed Door certificate. http://www.wingchunkwoon.com/about-master-redmond/

I've written articles in Kung Fu Tai Chi Magazine and in Wing Chun Illustrated. I'm known in the Wing Chun community worldwide yet Chrisw80 says I need more sources. My updates were still deleted. What can I do to fix this?

I've also added the following link to our Association where my profile is shown http://www.gtwckfa.org/Sys/PublicProfile/9434772/1513254

My updates were still deleted. What can I do to fix this? Sifupr (talk) 15:06, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you read Template:Request edit/Instructions you'll see that an edit request is placed on the talk page of the article, not here. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:13, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request for medical advice

edit

My son had a chemical stress test. I am a cardiac nurse but am confused at some of the findings.

1. The exam is suspicious for mild stress induced ischemia involving a mild to moderate size region of the inferior wall. 2. No other region of stress induced ischemia although there may be a small myocardial scar involving the anteroseptal wall. 3. No wall abnormalities. 4. L ventricular ejection fraction 66% — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.121.177.122 (talk) 16:11, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but Wikipedia does not give medical advice, see WP:MEDICAL. --David Biddulph (talk) 16:32, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tag for "source too old"

edit

Is there a tag for labelling sources that are too old, such as 20 year old demographic data in an article about current/ongoing topics? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:42, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There's Template:Update after. DonIago (talk) 16:50, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, that's to tag an article about a future event, the tag specifies the date of the event itself so that the article will be updated after the event has happened. I'm looking for a tag that marks a specific reference "this source is too old". Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:04, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Does anything from Wikipedia:Template_messages/Cleanup#Time-sensitive help? CaptRik (talk) 17:46, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Dodger67: I think Template:Update inline should work, and to make clear it applies to a specific reference, you could add it in between the ref-tags, like
<ref>{{cite web|title=example|url=example.com/example}}{{update inline}}</ref>. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 19:40, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks AddWittyNameHere, putting the tag inside the ref makes sense. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:54, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

My relative's webpage is being destroyed by trolls. She isn't a pubic figure and was a victim of domestic violence by a famous athlete. She was granted a restraining order in a very public forum. This doesn't qualify her as a public person. All positive things that used to exist about her have been removed and a very slanted take on articles that now destroy her reputation and credibility. The person responsible for these changes is called PatriciaAFF41. 41 is the number of the exboyfriend and assaulter. Clearly this person has an agenda and their changes shouldn't be allowed. WE are asking that her page be removed from Wikipedia as she is a living person.

Please let me know what you can do to help. No victim deserves this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JJordanISIS (talkcontribs) 18:11, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Patricia Driscoll appears to be notable, so the article will not be deleted. However I reverted the additions, which placed undue weight on some events, though these events appear to be notable as well and should be mentioned in some form. Ruslik_Zero 19:41, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It does look as if the PatriciaAFF41 account is WP:SPA having only edited the Driscoll page or the associated Armed Forces Foundation (AFF) page, and has frequently reinstated disputed text after experienced editors have tried to keep the tone of the page neutral. However, the matter might be better raised at the BLP noticeboard or possibly even ANI. Eagleash (talk) 19:48, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: The OP's user-name is perhaps not an appropriate one to use here on Wikipedia.--Aspro (talk) 23:41, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Watchlist

edit

For some reason when I use WP on my phone as I am doing now, when I go to my watchlist it takes me to the alphabetical list of pages on it rather than what I want, which is the list of pages arranged with the most recently modified first. Is there some way I can fix this? Everymorning (talk) 18:37, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a "Modified" button at top of the wathclist to get what you want? PrimeHunter (talk) 20:14, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Everymorning Under the word "Watchlist", there are 2 options: List and Modified. Change to Modified, that lists pages by date modified. Joseph2302 (talk) 20:33, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I can and have been doing that, but although it's not a big deal, I'd like to know if I can change my preferences so when i go to my watchlist I go straight to the modified page. Everymorning (talk) 22:59, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have a mobile device. When I use the mobile version in my desktop browser and go to the watchlist via the top left menu icon, it remembers how I last viewed the watchlist and has &watchlistview=feed in the url on the watchlist button. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:07, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I Have A Question

edit

Hi recently me and some other people formed the OHS. Offical Historical Society. I have seen that when I google things that it shows Wikipedia so I was wondering if I am allowed to make a Wikipedia article about the OHS. It's is a public society that's free to join and I wanted to create it so we can spread history. Please send me a answer as soon as you can. I would like to get the article up and running so when people Google OHS they will be able to read about it and possibly join. Thanks. - Head of the OHS — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.23.94.191 (talk) 23:19, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to tell you this but it is unlikely that an article would meet our criteria for inclusion at this time. Wikipedia articles require that third-party, independent, reliable sources such as newspapers or reputable magazines have discussed the topic in depth. General requirements can be found here: WP:42. Wikipedia is not for promoting your new group. Perhaps in the future, if the group gets picked up by multiple reliable sources it can have an article but right now that is unlikely as per your statement it was probably just formed. --Majora (talk) 23:21, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
