talk pages for anons on IPv6 addresses

edit

It seems that when anons use a machine set up with IPv6, the last parts of the IP address can vary, so the same user can appear using a range of similar IP addresses (maybe a /64 range?) How should one then use a user talk page for such a contributor in such a way that they will see the messages, when their full (128-bit) IP seems to hop around within such a range? (Please can you "ping" me when replying here.) --Money money tickle parsnip (talk) 03:39, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Money money tickle parsnip: The short answer is with difficulty. If you message them before they have moved to another address they may see it. If they are editing a particular article they may see a message on the article talk page. If their sole purpose is vandalism their IP range may be blocked and they may see a block message when they next try to edit. TSventon (talk) 10:18, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

NMUSICIAN Interpretations

edit

Hi there,

WP:NMUSICIAN's talk page is pretty slow so I thought I'd ask here for an extra opinion.

The two last (and thus, rare) criteria read as follows:

11.Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network.
12.Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network.

11 is fairly clear, but 12 reads a bit confusingly, with 2 main questions. Does a featured subject mean it has to be a DJ doing a major segment on radio about another musician's music, or is it fine if it's a DJ being given a major segment (on radio) to do their own music? And can "substantial broadcast segment" mean a single, large (2+ hours) or does it mean a recurring interval? Nosebagbear (talk) 09:55, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How do you hide a climate data box

edit

The page I am editing has one weather box that is hidden and a second weather box which is completely exposed. I want for it to look aesthetically pleasing by having the second weather box hidden/shrunk as well. What can I add to hide the box?

This is the current design for the second weather box:

Re dami im from australia sony music

edit

Dami im from australia is shown still as an artist with sony Music. Recently she has put on her facebook profile she is now with Orchard. Orchard is owned by Sony music it is a subsidiary. Dami is not shown on the sony music australia site and was deleted recently when she moved to Orchard. yet i still see her on the Wikipedia sony artist list. can you clarify this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.160.17.195 (talk) 11:12, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Courtesy link to Dami Im. Has she actually released any music via Orchard yet? (Nothing is listed in her Discography article.) Her Facebook statement may be of an intention, prior to actually signing the relevant contracts, or she may indeed have already made the move legally, but until she has actually released material it's possible that something might occur to prevent her from doing so. In that case she would not have become an Orchard artist for practical purposes, so I'd argue it's fair to retain her Wikipedia description as a Sony artist until some of her material has appeared from Orchard. Others may have a different opinion. If this discussion is to extend it might be best to copy it to her article's Talk page and continue there. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.202.210.239 (talk) 04:28, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Article "Portrait of a Lady on Fire" (Film) / Unauthorized poster

edit

Hello, I'm writing on behalf of mk2films, international sales agent for Portrait_of_a_Lady_on_Fire. We have noticed that the current poster showing on this article hasn't been approved by the rightsholder so we would like to have it replaced by the official one. Your help would be very much appreciated. Thank you Mk2films (talk) 11:39, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mk2films: File:Portrait of a Lady on Fire.jpg was uploaded in April. Is http://distrib.pyramidefilms.com/images/films/824/_thumb1/pjff120x160.jpg the image you want instead? PrimeHunter (talk) 12:00, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Donating

edit

You guys r idiots I probably would've donated but when I pressed maybe later it wanted to ask me for my email so you could remind me and that just pissed me off so I pressed close and I am going to forget I ever seen it

I think you should just let people click maybe later and that's it I reckon most people will not be bothered entering their email and will never bother donating

If you don't listen to this oh well your loss mate — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.64.19.232 (talk) 16:30, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Instead of making personal attacks, you could have asked politely, and we would say that we volunteer editors have no control over donation requests from the Foundation that operates the computers Wikipedia is on. If you create an account, you can turn off such messages. If you don't want to give money, that's up to you. 331dot (talk) 16:32, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How to add person

edit

Please advise how to add a very notable person to your web search. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Veteran1000 (talkcontribs) 20:39, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Veteran1000 If the person meets the Wikipedia notability criteria for people(there are also more specific criteria for certain careers like musicians), you are welcome to create an article about them, though it is more challenging to do than people realize. You should first use the new user tutorial to learn about how Wikipedia works, then read Your First Article. You can then create and submit a draft for review using Articles for Creation. 331dot (talk) 21:14, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you know, are related to, or are this very notable person, then please read WP:COI. -- Hoary (talk) 12:59, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
