Use of acronyms in quotation marks

Could anyone please tell me if it's all right to use acronyms in quotation marks ("... the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or 'NASA'"), or should the acronym just be in parentheses, lacking quotation marks or the conjunction "or" after the full name?

(Edit: Added ellipsis and non-breaking space at beginning of quote.)

No. It should be something like (full sentence to avoid further quote mark confusion): "He worked at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)." Clarityfiend (talk) 05:34, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

@Thylacine24: I'm not sure what you mean by "a space between your replies". However, it is generally not considered a good idea to alter your text after you've received a response. It makes things harder to follow. Clarityfiend (talk) 22:44, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

@Clarityfiend: I should have written "a space between my first post here and your first response." Sorry about that. Anyway, I've done that plenty of times in the past, but I'll try to stop now. Of course, there's also the possibility that I might get a response just as I'm editing it when I don't think anyone's responded yet. List of people who died climbing Mount Everest table in Android app

The wikitable in the "Fatalities" section List of people who died climbing Mount Everest article is not showing correctly in the Android app (OnePlus 7 Pro), but displays fine if I open it in Chrome on the same phone. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the app or the formatting of the table itself, but if anyone knows of a solution, it would be greatly appreciated. TheMrP (talk) 06:35, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

MY NAME AND DETAILS DOES NOT APPEAR WIKIPEDIA

Your IP address has no other edits and Lawrence Lartey works fine. I guess you are User:Ojekooradio and refer to User:Ojekooradio/sandbox. It's an unsubmitted userspace draft and not indexed by search engines. See Wikipedia:Autobiography and Help:Your first article. PrimeHunter (talk) 08:13, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Account User

How can i identify the successor of my old account?

Best place is the user page of each account. --David Biddulph (talk) 10:17, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

That is, if you changed from OldUserName to NewUserName, you would write:

This user previously used the account [[User:OldUserName]].

at the new user page (named User:NewUserName).

You could additionally write:

{{Old account|NewUserName}}

at the old user page (named User:OldUserName).

Downloading a table

I assume you mean one of the tables at List_of_semiconductor_fabrication_plants. AFAIK there is no simple way of doing this, or at least not easy unless you have a database server that is capable of importing Wikisyntax-Tables. Victor Schmidt (talk) 11:15, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Excel can also import data from web pages in a number of ways – see the Data menu and Excel help. It's changed since the last time I used it, so I can't give you a more detailed answer. You might get one at WP:RD/C. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 23:00, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Deleting pages

I have been collecting various links in order to write some articles at a later date. There are many duplicate pages though, I cannot figure out how to delete a page or book.

@Jasbflower: If you created the pages you can add {{db-g7}} to the top to have an admin delete them. Otherwise, you may want to read Wikipedia:Guide to deletion, and use one of the processes listed there. Danski454 (talk) 18:41, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

I would like to donate to Wikipedia but do not wish to give my PAN No. Nowhere anybody asks for this in India. Accessing Wikidata

Data held at Wikidata may be accessed by various means, such as

• {{q|Q42}} → Douglas Adams (Q42)
• {{#statements:P106|from=Q42}} → playwright, screenwriter, novelist, children's writer, science fiction writer, comedian, writer, musician

OK, thanks. However, it doesn't suggest that any formatting options are available, so it doesn't help with the problem that I'm really trying to solve, which is how to suppress the two layers of <span>...</span> tags that {{#statements:...}} always seems to wrap its output in. Taking my {{#statements:P106|from=Q42}} example from above (since it illustrates it quite well), this emits

<span><span>[[Playwright|playwright]]</span>, <span>[[Screenwriter|screenwriter]]</span>, <span>[[Novelist|novelist]]</span>, <span>children&#39;s writer</span>, <span>science fiction writer</span>, <span>[[Comedian|comedian]]</span>, <span>[[Writer|writer]]</span></span>

I believe you need to use #property (documented very sparsely at d:Wikidata:How to use data on Wikimedia projects#Raw value) instead if you want the raw value. * Pppery * _{it has begun...} 20:13, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Cronyism

Hi there,

I read Cronyism and found that Nepal is missing in the Asian countries' list. I am a native (citizen) of Nepal. Nepal has always been one of the most corrupt country in the world before (during rana & shah dynasty) and after the restoration of democracy.

It is also worth noting that Nepotism is on rise in recent years -- Nepalese politicians have been proudly practicing nepotism since so long. Becasue of that majority of intellectuals and students are leaving Nepal since they do not see their future in Nepal -- one of the most corrupt third world country.

Therefore, please enlist Nepal for Cronyism and Nepotism.

The only Asian list in Cronyism is in {{Political corruption sidebar}}. The sidebar is displayed in many articles and links to other related articles. We currently have no aRticle about corruption in Nepal. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:21, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

request edit

I attempted to edit info on a page that created a security risk for a federal judge (I am an employee for that Court). The info was promptly changed back. I attempted to request the edit through the "talk" feature on the page, which went ignored. The info is the date and place of birth, which is not widely published or relevant. Hello, IP user. I have removed the birthdate from Mary J. Schoelen, according to WP:BLPPRIVACY. I suspect that what happened is that Evrik saw that an unregistered editor had removed information from the article without any edit summary explaining why, and thought that it was vandalism, though that is only a guess. Please note that, as an employee of the court, you are regarded by Wikipedia as being a paid editor, and must make a declaration to that effect - see the link for the details. This will require you to register an account (as only registered accounts have user pages). The account must be personal to you - shared accounts are not permitted - but you are not required to use your real name. You mustn't use a name which suggests that the account represents the court, though: it is your personal account. For any further changes you want to make to that article, or any other connected with your employment, you should make an edit request on the talk page of the article in question. You sort of did that, but you did it on your user talk page, User talk:173.66.158.250, instead of on the article's talk page Talk:Mary J. Schoelen. Hello, IP user. Another option is to send a request to OTRS, by sending an email to info-en@wikimedia.org This will accomplish two goals. First, you won't have to register as a paid editor. Second, based upon the nature of your request, you would like to keep it as private as possible and posting it publicly as a requested edit, anyone can see it, somewhat defeating the purpose. In contrast, emails sent to OTRS go to a small group of agents who have signed confidentiality agreements not to share the information. Request for removal of birthdates is a common request at OTRS.
