Add a Wikipedia page to the search results box from a disambiguation page
editHi. How do you add a Wikipedia page to the search results box from a disambiguation page? So basically be able to search for something without having to go to the disambiguation page that it's on. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by T Yorke (talk • contribs) 06:13, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think I understand your question. Maybe some specifics would help – which Wikipedia article, which disambiguation page, what search string? Maproom (talk) 11:43, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- @T Yorke: I guess you refer to the search feature which displays article suggestions while you are still typing in the search box. The list of search suggestions is made automatically and cannot be edited. It does not come from a disambiguation page. It may seem unfair that typing "sponge" only gives Sponge and lots of articles about SpongeBob SquarePants. I think page views is an important criteria and the guy is popular. If you want a band then you can type "sponge band". Sponge (band) first appears after typing "sponge ba". If you know our system with disambiguation in parentheses then you can also type "sponge (", and it already appears. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:36, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- If you type "sponge" and then click "Search within pages" (in the mobile version) or "containing..." (in the desktop version) then you get a larger list of normal search results where "sponge" is usually a full word. Sponge (band) is on the first page. Help
editHello there, I noticed that some citations used in article Jaggi Vasudev are unreliable, and as per WP:QUESTIONABLE it should be removed. I tried to discuss the issue on talk page, but editors are not replying me.
I have listed the citations here.
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Jaggi_Vasudev&diff=942836161&oldid=942779426
I even noticed that this is not the first time questions are being raised on the citations used.BabyINeedYa (talk) 06:32, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

- @AlanM1: The discussion on ″Biographies of living persons Noticeboard Archive297″ ended without any conclusion, and I concur with the editors who are opposing the insertion of citations mentioned. Aren't we supposed to remove the unreliable citations, as WP:QUESTIONABLE clearly directs to remove ″Questionable sources″ BabyINeedYa (talk) 09:18, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
Edits to the Mike Adenuga page
editHello.
I edited the page on Chief Mike Adenuga yesterday and added an appropriate reference for it. The problem is that I've been getting an accessdate error notice no matter what I do, even though it appears as though I've done everything right.
Could someone please help me out? I'm kind of at the end of my tether.

- (edit conflict) @O.ominirabluejack: Fixed as above; it then produced another error msg in 'date=' parameter as it was not 'day-month-year' per the date tag at the top of the source. (Having said that I thought the recent changes to that template fixed those automatically). Eagleash (talk) 07:38, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- 😂 Sorry about that, @Eagleash:. It was what the help prompt on the blasted thing suggested that I do: current time plus one day. I didn't understand why it was necessary, but who am I to question the Almighty Wiki? Thanks for the help.

Edit to the Goodluck Jonathan page
editHello again.
I have just edited the page on Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and I've been unable to include an appropriate reference because "Google.com/amp/" has been put on the blacklist. I've tried three different sources, and they have all caused the site to tell me that their URLs cannot be used.
In frustration, I tried deleting the amp part of the URL just to see what would happen, and Wikipedia accepted the edit without complaint thereafter, but now it's just a link to nowhere as a result.
Please help. O.ominirabluejack (talk) 09:20, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- Google.amp is a URL redirect string. Try the rest of the URL from www. afterwards. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 09:51, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

deletion of a page who is misguiding readers about north east delhi riots.
editthere is a user named DBigXray. He is spreading false news that north east delhi riots were carried by people with saffron flags in there hand because he wants to spread hatred towards Hindus as saffron flag is the sign of Hinduism instead the riots were started by muslim people who were chanting allah-hu-akbar and were opposing CAA and NRC. 42 people in delhi riots were killed and most of them were hindus .almost 35 hindus were killed by muslim protestors in the riots and an officer of Intelligence Bureau of India was killed by a muslim leader named Tahir hussain who is associated with AAP party of India. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shadowrecords (talk • contribs) 09:45, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- Shadowrecords Wikipedia summarizes what appears in independent reliable sources. Please read WP:TRUTH for more information. If those reliable sources are incorrect, we will need more than just your personal views about it, you will need to present your own independent sources to support your claims. Even then, this does not mean other information must be outright removed. 331dot (talk) 09:48, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

- As mentioned before, the best place for these requests is the specific article's talk page. This is not only because it is where people interested in the article and/or general subject might see it and be willing to help, but also to keep discussion about the page archived in a single place. If it is not actively watched, and not answered after a couple days, post a pointer to the that discussion at the relevant WikiProject talk pages listed at the top of the talk page (e.g. Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Yorkshire, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Peerage and Baronetage). If you don't get anywhere after a day or three, then bring it somewhere more general (like here). Thanks. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 22:33, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
Message about editing
editI don't have an account on wikipedia but i received a message saying that i edited a load of stuff which i didn't. I think it was to my ip address. One of the messages gave a location which i wasnt at. What's up with that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.162.100.98 (talk) 13:02, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- Here's your IP address's contributions on the site. If you're editing from a cell phone, public WiFi, or some other system where an IP address might be shared, then you can assume someone else made those edits (unfortunately, all we can see is the IP address, so we can't). Whatever happens, your ability to read the site will not be hindered, even if someone else on your IP address screws things up enough that you can't edit anymore. - This is one of the benefits to creating an account, no one else's edits will be attributed to you. See WP:ACCOUNT for more reasons. RudolfRed (talk) 22:25, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia claims my username does not exist
editI am puzzled why Wikipedia claims my username does not exist, yet allows me to log on, using the correct password. If I try (intentionally) using an incorrect password, Wikipedia does not allow me to log on. If I use the correct password, I am permitted to log on. So my name must be there as a legitimate username in the Wikipedia data basis. And yet my username appears in red, and if I hover my mouse over it, the words appear "page does not exist". Why ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by RockWalterson (talk • contribs) 20:30, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- RockWalterson, it's saying that a user page in that name does not exist. Just click your name in red above and type something, then click Publish changes. Page will exist. Schazjmd (talk) 20:32, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- @RockWalterson: It's your user page, not your username, that does not exist. Not everyone has (to have) a user page, though you may create one if you like (see WP:UP for policies regarding content and use).
- Also, please remember to sign your posts to discussion pages (like this one) by adding a space and four tildes at the end of the last line, like this:

LEFT LEANING ARTICLE AND HIDING MAIN CULPRIT OF North East Delhi riots

A man identified as Shahrukh has been caught on camera firing eight rounds during the riots. Head Constable Ratan Lal was among the initial few who died due to these bullet injuries. A young Intelligence Bureau Officer, Ankit Sharma, was brutally stabbed 400 times as per forensic reports. His body was recovered from a drain close to a municipal corporator’s house, Tahir Hussain. Videos have surfaced where a large mob had gathered on the terrace of Tahir Hussain’s house and were hurling stones and petrol bombs, Ankit had gone unarmed to assess and plausibly dissuade them from engaging in these activities. He, in turn, became a victim of the barbaric mob. A forensic team has further seized petrol bombs, acid, stones and bricks from Tahir Hussain’s house. Both Shahrukh and Tahir Hussain are currently not traceable. A 51-year old man was brutally assaulted with his son and killed for simply carrying a “Jai Shri Ram (Glory to Lord Rama)” sticker on his motorbike. A journalist, Akash Napa, was attacked by a mob of protestors opposing the citizenship bill. A young boy, Vivek, had a machine drilled into his head when he showed the rioters his ID card. Several Hindu houses and shops were hand-picked by the rioters and set on fire or vandalised. Schools and petrol pumps were not spared. Acid was thrown on paramilitary forces from the top of houses. As per early reports, equal number of casualties were reported among both communities. Attempts to portray it as a “pogrom” against Muslims is outright false and display sinister intents at play. The fact is left leaning forces worldwide have never given up their attempts of tainting PM Modi and the ruling party’s image to that of an anti-Muslim jibe. Their latest grouse was India’s Citizenship Amendment Act which was also twisted for purposes of suiting their narrative. The Act, which aims to expedite citizenship process for religiously persecuted minorities from three neighbouring Islamic countries has been projected as (a) Indian Muslims losing their citizenship status and (b) human rights violations of persecuted Muslims in these Islamic countries for failure to grant them the same benefit. India has repeatedly clarified that its doors have never been shut for any immigrant including the Muslims from these countries. They just have to go through the normal process of availing citizenship that any sovereign country entails The support of western media has bolstered the efforts of Indian left intellectuals, ill-informed activists and certain factions of opposition parties who seem to have a single point agenda of opposing PM Modi. The radical faction of Islam has joined hands with them too. They peddle lies on the act and have managed to create an anticipatory fear among the Muslims – when the facts are pointing against the narrative. When their half baked knowledge of CAA was debunked, they resorted to a narrative on CAA in combination with NRC to wreck havoc on Muslims, when the draft for NRC isn’t out yet. These can just be viewed as efforts to incite the Indian Muslims and urging them to come out on roads to fight for their rights and survival. In addition, many inflammatory speeches have been making the rounds in the past two months by key leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mani Shankar Aiyer. Opportunistic Muslim leaders like Amanatullah Khan and Waris Pathan reminded Muslims that they ruled India for thousands of years and soon 15 crore Muslims will overpower 100 crore Hindus. They also remembered the Battle of Badr, Uhd and Karbala where the polytheists were killed or converted. Influential Muslim leaders like Faizul Hasan, former Aligarg Muslim University Student Union’s leader, commented that if they wish they can kill lakhs and destroy any country. Small children at the protests were fed that Muslims will be kept in camp and will be deprived of food and clothes. They were also taught to abuse the Prime Minister and Home Minister. Slogans like “Kafiron se Azaadi” (freedom from infidels) were routinely chanted! Sharjeel Iman who led the Shaheen Bagh protests had plans of cutting off Assam from the rest of India. He had admiration for Jinnah – the creator of Pakistan. He believed Muslims stayed back in India to complete the unfinished job. These were narratives and the ways the minds got groomed and influenced that led to the Delhi riots. The vast population of Muslims believed they were fighting for their rights and an imaginary future oppression. Media houses have not condemned these speeches and remained silent under the garb of freedom of speech. On the other hand, when a BJP leader Kapil Mishra urged the Delhi Police to take action to relocate the protestors who have been disrupting the daily lives of common people thru road blockages etc., it has been widely publicised by national and international media houses as a speech that instigated the riots. In reality, Trump’s visit to Delhi provided a perfect opportunity to scale up the protests to riots and internationalise the Citizenship issue in the US Congress, European Union parliament and elsewhere. However, it failed to create the required optics, in spite of continued attempts by western media. President Trump considered the Citizenship Act as an internal matter of India. With the devastation brought about by the riots as dozens of lives among Hindus and Muslims were lost and several property and means of livelihood destroyed, the new narrative was to paint them as a “Hindutva” agenda and give a clean chit to the anti-CAA protestors. Whereas the truth is reports have emerged of riots having the backing of Popular Front of India (PFI), an extremist and militant Islamic fundamentalist organisation. Further, a pro-ISIS group had recently launched an India-specific publication, titled — ‘Voice of Hind’ to tap on the volatile emotions/mind-set of Muslims. Contrast this to the way the terrorists in London were recently eliminated. The miscreants were immediately gunned down as safety and security of a country cannot be jeopardised. The media equally praised the move. In India, the policemen first try to control things with a lathi or a stick and that too is criticised as excess when the media feels a need to protect the affected like when the riots were emerging in Uttar Pradesh post the CAA. Recently, the Home Secretary of UK has taken measures to contain terrorism and the related outfits. Immigration laws have been modified to a points based system so that the right people can come and contribute to the economy rather than being a burden. These efforts are hailed. But if India decides to take steps for citizenship criteria keeping in mind the security of the land, it’s put under the radar. There is an expectation that India shouldn’t distinguish between illegal economic and religiously persecuted migrants and should probably have open borders with its neighbours. The duplicity of western media and left intellectuals then stands exposed! |

Bob Quaranta article
editHello, I've been adding resources and reorganizing the links. Could you take a look and see if the edits have been done in a satisfactory manner. I'm also wondering if the article could be restored to wikipedia. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dontwantone (talk • contribs) 20:56, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- Some of the references are rather poorly formatted, with just a title and a URL. There are far too many "External links" – one is generally enough. Both those issues could easily be fixed. Of more concern is the lack of any references to sources which help to establish that Quaranta is notable. Without that, the draft won't be restored as an article.
