Why Will Roper name showed up in PET Scan results?

I used keyword "Quantum physicists" in https://petscan.wmflabs.org, then list of names appeared. In the list, Will Roper name showed up.

I visited that Will Roper, below category section I don't find "Quantum physicists" then why his name appeared ? Rizosome (talk) 00:24, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

@Rizosome: Go to Category:Quantum physicists and look at the subcategories section. 2C means 2 subcategories, and then you go from there down the rabbit hole. TimTempleton ^{(talk) (cont)} 01:10, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

@Rizosome: I went bottom-up, not top-down. I looked at the categories that Category:American string theorists is in (listed at the bottom of that page) and picked a next-level category that was likely to be within the tree from Category:Quantum physicists, and then kept going up toward the root. How to resolve archive-date parameter requirement when there is no available archive date?

Some archive sites (e.g. Wikiwix) do not provide metadata re their archived documents. How does one satisfy the archive-date citation style requirement if there is no archive date available? For example, this document is archived here, but I don't see any metadata there nor any when I search from the Wikiwix homepage. I want an archive link but I'd hate to have that ugly red text in the article. Thanks. Brycehughes (talk) 00:45, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

@Brycehughes: I'd suggest contacting them to ask, but when I go to the French contact page at http://archive.wikiwix.com/fr/contact or the English contact page at http://archive.wikiwix.com/en/contact, the text appears to be in Latin, and not necessarily be related to what should normally be on such a page (Syria and Palestine are mentioned, etc.). The .../get-it page is similarly bizarre. The copyright notice at the bottom of the pages is dated 2012. Anyone know what's going on here? —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 06:58, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

Your example archive link doesn't work for me (ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS). The source is available at archive.org here. That snapshot url has a timestamp so perhaps use that instead?

How to get a 'full text size' note?

CX Zoom, I'm rather doubtful that you can do that. Can I ask why the superscript is a problem for your use case? -- Fyrael (talk) 16:53, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

@CX Zoom: for a case with only a few notes like this one, you can manually label the footnotes instead of auto-numbering. Then, you can use anchors.

Here is (I hope) an example:[[#anchor-a|[a]]]

which renders as:

Use of commas in disambiguation pages

It's traditional to use commas before descriptions on disambiguation pages, according to the Manual of Style. However, could anyone please tell me what to do if the link itself includes a comma?--Thylacine24 (talk) 02:53, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

@Thylacine24: Link it as normal. Is there a reason not to? You could pipe it, as described at that MOS page, if you think it needs it. RudolfRed (talk) 03:15, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

I did pipe another link on that disambiguation page that went to a section of another page, but I agree with you about otherwise not piping links on disambiguation pages, if that's what you're getting at. @Thylacine24: Please post a diff when you refer to an edit, or a link to any page you refer to or have in mind. You may think your question is clear and general with no need for an example but it nearly always helps. I first thought you were referring to a page name which ends in a comma. RudolfRed thought you were referring to not displaying the comma in the page name. We both guessed wrong based on [1]. I agree with your edit. PrimeHunter (talk) 08:44, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

@Thylacine24: I have posted the diff [2] now so you don't have to, but do remember it for the future. Helpers waste a lot of time trying to guess what a post is about, or replying based on a wrong guess. I have spent dozens of hours on it on this page. The editnotice includes: "If possible, please be specific in your question rather than general and link to any page or article your question involves, or at least tell us the title of the page." Some posters want us to edit a page but give no clue which page. Some posts aren't even about Wikipedia but don't say anything about it. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:39, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

Khaossu, if you're using the visual editor, click on the reference, then Edit on the interface that pops up, and then click Change reference type in the lower-left. Paste your new URL and it should update when you click Generate then Insert. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 05:59, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

Rupeshlotsblue, you should declare your WP:PAID relationship you have with your company on your user page; you may use {{paid}} to do so. Please make sure your company is notable by Wikipedia's standards, as Wikipedia cares about what reliable sources say about the company; the encyclopedia is not a place to advertise or promote said company. You shouldn't be directly an editing an article about your company in most cases, and if an article is created, it's best to limit your participation to the talk page by submitting edit requests so that uninvolved editors can add or change the information for you, provided you have reliable sources that support those claims. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 07:14, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

The other thing to note, Rupeshlotsblue is that if Wikipedia eventually has an article ahbout your company, it will not belong to your company, your company will have no control over what the article contains, and it should be almost entirely based on what published sources unconnected with you say about you, even if you do not like what they say. See An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. --ColinFine (talk) 12:39, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

@Rupeshlotsblue: I would like to emphasize that notability is our only absolute requirement for an article. Before you expend any more effort on your article, make certain that your agency is notable by our definition: see WP:NCORP. We can help you fix even a very poor article about a notable subject. An otherwise-perfect article about a non-notable subject will be deleted: see: WP:AMOUNT. How to help fill in refs

Please help, Wikipedia doxed me

Hello, I'm a youtuber and someone has made a wikipedia page about me which details my full name (which I have never released online) and it references my limited company (also not public knowledge) so people are finding my home address. I have removed the offending information from the page on the grounds that the source cited for it fails WP:RS. The page narrowly survived an AFD debate just a few days ago, so deleting it at this time is improbable.~ ONUnicorn^{(Talk|Contribs)}problem solving 17:24, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

While national and international jamborees probably meet Wikipedia:Notability (events) for their own article, there could be many smaller jamborees that would not. If it's a regular event (or the 1965 jamboree was special in some way), and you can find independent reliable sources, maybe it could be added to Scouting in North Carolina. Women in the Pakistan Armed Forces

Dear Help Desk,

I wanted to bring your attention to the fact that the information in the women in Pakistan armed forces is not complete as it doesn't include the women serving in the Armed forces nursing service. It is missing information and doesn't reflect the real information as hundred of woman in the group are serving in the army navy and airforce and no mention of it is not fair.

CinemaScope - too many quotation marks?

This is more of a style question. CinemaScope has a lot of terms in quotations. It looks to me like most of them should not be in quotes, but I don't know. Can someone look at the article and make changes, if needed? Bubba73 ^{You talkin' to me?} 22:16, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

@Bubba73: If you think something doesn't look right, you can always change it yourself. If someone disagrees, you can discuss on the talk page. IP user(s) constantly removing or modifying (other people's) discussion on Talk:List of footballers with 500 or more goals

There were a lot more discussions on this page, and it looks like some IP users keep removing them (without archiving). And they also modify other people's comments. What should we do about it? --fireattack (talk) 22:39, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi Folks! I was looking at this French article on fr Wikipedia [[5]]. Is the first reference normal or is that a spam URL? It is hard to tell. It looks like a spam URL, although could be wrong.
