Reset Password with Inaccessible Email Address

How can I reset my password if the email address associated with the account no longer exists?

Hi IP 173.59.123.56. Unfortunately, I don't believe that's possible as expained in WP:LOSTPASSWORD. I'm pretty sure you need a valid email address to reset your password because the system will send you a link that allows you to reset your password. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:45, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

Thanks. Any idea what I should do?

For a site with such a large membership that's been around so long, they don't seem to have thought this out very thoroughly. I've been able to rescue my userID on several other sites where this has happened since I retired.

The only thing you can do, if you cannot remember your password, is to create a new account and identify it as a successor to your old account("I am User5678, I was User1234 but lost access"). It's up to the user to keep any email address they attach to their account updated in case they need to recover their password. No one has access to the email addresses of other users. 331dot (talk) 16:47, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

Should this category: Category:Cableways main article be the disambig page of Cable car?

You could try to discuss this at the category's talk page, but you are not likely to get a response, so you can try to discuss it on the talk page of the relevant project, or even at talk:Cable car -Arch dude (talk) 04:33, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

How to access deleted talkpages

There's this rather dubious article Automated Lip Reading. Its talkpage even has an entry from back in 2007 sqaying that the entire issue is highly suspect, linking to a talkpage for this ominious Frank Hubner where the entire issue of supposed Automated Lip Reading, as discussed in the article, was pointed out as an absolute hoax. Unfortunately, the original article for Frank Hubner seems deleted due to said evidence for hoax and foul play and was re-directed to an utterly different person called Frank Hübner.

Thing is, I have found out by myself that Hubner's supposed results from his miracle software was an entire hoax. There's the British Channel 5 documentary Hitler's Private World Revealed (2006), which remains the only original source to Hubner's claims about ASL, and you can clearly see from that YouTube excerpt alone that the supposed results from his fabled miracle software are, in fact, simply excerpts from the 1974 film Swastika, where its director Philippe Mora had openly admitted that he had created the very lip-readings and dub himself (where Mora had employed human lip readers) that Hubner tried to pass off as results from his own miracle software in the 2006 documentary. Not only are the texts identical, it's even the very same dubbing sound recordings and mix, complete with sound FX and all, from the 1974 film that you can buy on DVD ever since 2010/12. The only reason why the press didn't blow the cover on Hubner in 2006 right away was the fact that on its 1974 Cannes premiere, Swastika caused a scandal and the screening was aborted but a few minutes into the film that afterwards remained largely unreleased for decades, which is why it's also virtually unknown.

So, I'd like to know how I can access the above deleted talkpage for further evidence, in order to use it in order to get that hoax article about Automated Lip Reading deleted. Or, well...maybe with today's Machine learning of the 2020s, there *MAY* be a justification to have an article about the topic, but the entire ASL thing by Hubner back in 2006 was nothing but a huge hoax. 2003:EF:170A:9274:E56D:1979:D7AE:B44E (talk) 04:16, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

How do you extend tables in list pages of Wikipedia?

The list List of In Our Time programmes stops rather abruptly in October 2022. Is there any way in which it could be extended please, so that it can have in details for subsequent programmes, such as that on Wilfred Owen, that on the Morant Bay rebellion or, indeed, the programme that will be on today (January 12 2023) on John Donne? • That does not really answer my question. What I was really asking was whether there is anywhere on Wikipedia that has an algorithm for how to produce tables/ graphs. If there is - as I believe there is one for templates - I shall be very appreciative if you could alert it to my attention, and tell me where it is, please. • I'm not sure what you mean by "an algorithm for how to produce tables". Are you looking for documentation about table markup? You can read HELP:TABLES for help with that. CodeTalker (talk) 20:52, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

How to be sure the article is neutral enough?

Hi! I had submitted a draft for Jonathan Cherki's bio in English that was declined a month ago. I found new sources to back it up and edited it but I want to be sure it fully respects the neutral tone of voice. What do you think? Thanks! UnicornMadrid If you want a review, the best thing to do is submit it for a review instead of asking for a pre-review review. Since you are here, I would ask you if you are associated with this person or his company in some way. The draft seems more about his company than about him personally- it could be that the company merits an article and not him. The sources offered do not seem to have significant coverage of Mr. Cherki, they just tell the things he has done, and not why he is significant or influential enough to merit inclusion in an encyclopedia of human knowledge. We need sources that go into detail about how Mr. Cherki is significant or influential as the source sees it. Please read the definition of a notable person and also a notable business.

The word "passion" will trigger any reviewer's bullshit detector. The statement in which it occurs is sourced to an article based on things Cherki has said; Wikipedia is not interested in what people have said about themselves, only in what independent sources have said about them. Assistance in trying to determine notability

Hello! While patrolling SWViewer I came across someone who changed the birthplace of Alex Clark (animator) who I reverted for not providing a source (i've since removed the birthplace since it's unsourced). The user responded on my talk page and claims to be his sister (whether that's true or not I don't know). I told them about having a COI and also about our BLP policy. I also said that they might not be notable enough to have an article, and I started searching for sources. However I"m having a hard time finding any that are actually relevant to the subject since many people have had the name "Alex Clark" and I"m not sure if they actually aren't notable or if I'm searching wrong. @Blaze Wolf: You have made a good-faith effort to find sources, and failed. Your next move is to nominate the article for deletion (maybe WP:PROD first). Select Wikidata fields that has a qualified equal to the subclass of something

For example, alpha beta and release candidate version are all subclasses of prerelease version. I would like to select all values that have the version type qualifier set to one of the subclasses of prerelease version. How do I do this? Because someone accuses you of something, doesn't mean that you should accuse them back. This is what WP:AGF states. 'Calling an admin' may WP:BOOMERANG. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 13:11, 13 January 2023 (UTC)

• Mercresis should not have cast aspersions about modern_primat's possible political motives. It was wrong to do that, even if not necessarily a personal attack. Such accusations of political bias should either be made at the appropriate noticeboard (and with adequate proof), or not at all.

That being said, once they explained themselves, modern_primat did keep a very belligerent tone. Modern_primat, even when you are completely right, you should remain calm. If you really, really, really want to escalate this, the way to go is WP:ANI, but I strongly advise against it.

Finally, a few notes about we must be "passionate" when we creating ansiklopedia(wrong word, i too lazy to fix it). take it or leave it.:

• No, you should not be passionate. If you are angry, tired, sad, etc. to the point that it affects your interactions with other editors, step away from the keyboard and come back later.
• You should definitely proofread / edit your posts as a matter of netiquette. When you talk / write to a single person, it might be socially acceptable to not correct easy-to-overlook mistakes, because spending one minute of writing to make the recipient win one second of reading is not worth it. However, if what you write is read by 100 people, then spending one minute of writing to make all those people win one second of reading is worth it on the aggregate.
