editMultiple Citation needed Tags
editOn the Bournemouth Airport page in the Airlines and destinations sections there are multiple CN tags. Is there something that can replace all of these tags as they currently make the page confusing and hard to read comfortably. LouisOrr27 (talk) 00:58, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- @LouisOrr27: You could use the {{more citations needed section}} template. Personally I'd delete those. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 01:28, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Someone claims that it is enough to source the airlines, while it is common to source the connections and start dates individually. See the hidden note: "DO NOT ADD OR REMOVE ROUTES WITHOUT GIVING A VALID INDEPENDENT SOURCE. EXACT DATES ARE MANDATORY FOR NEW ROUTES TO BE ADDED HERE. ALSO ADD INLINE CITATIONS IF POSSIBLE." Old Hill is NOT Rowley Regis
editI have an issue with your description of Old Hill. As a resident, we are not considered, and have never considered ourselves, a part of Rowley Regis. While we are close to a lot of towns (Cradley Heath, Rowley Regis, Halesowen, Brierley Hill, Dudley, etc), this is ONLY because of bus routes. Old Hill houses bus stops for: X10, 4M, 3, 18, 19, etc, which is WHY we are considered "part of" our NEIGHBORING towns. We need to keep the name of O L D H I L L alive, someone has to. We have several nail salons as part of Old Hill Market, a bakery AND a Greggs, separately, several hair dressers and barbers, convenience shops, a shop for house pets, a shop for reptilian pets, several groomers for pets, parks, canals, etc. What more do you need Wiki? Old Hill is a TOWN, it is NOT part of other towns, it is still recognised as it's OWN town and should be recognised, as such, on Wikipedia. We are part of the black country, but that doesn't mean that all black country towns are the same.
Thank you your time chick. 2A02:C7C:3238:9700:E067:4F47:7042:958D (talk) 02:09, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Then please argue for this at the foot of Talk:Old Hill. Be sure to do so "verifiably". -- Hoary (talk) 02:34, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. I can see that you're passionate about this, but please understand that Wikipedia reports what reliable published sources say about a matter, which is not always the same as what people on the ground see (see verifiability, not truth). If you have some published sources for what you want the article to say, you are welcome to open a discussion on its talk page, as Hoary suggests. Wikipedia is not the place for RIGHTINGGREATWRONGS ColinFine (talk) 11:42, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is written from reliable sources, not from one's personal point of view. Ordnance Survey calls Old Hill a village rather than a suburban area, and this is in the Old Hill opening sentence. Sandwell Council divides the Borough into six towns, one of which is Rowley Regis and places Old Hill within Rowley Regis, again reflected in the lead. You're more than welcome to discuss this on the Talk page. Rupples (talk) 15:37, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm going to change the Old Hill lead to reflect the Ordnance Survey source. This would make Old Hill consistent with neighbouring Cradley Heath (town) and Blackheath, West Midlands (town). The leads to both these articles state town in Sandwell and do not also state they are towns in Rowley Regis (Sandwell Council's definition). Rupples (talk) 15:53, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
Permission to use figure
editHello, Here is Dr. Sher Muhammad. I used a figure form the Chimonanthus praecox. I need your permission to use this picture. Please send me permission letter or the source from where this picture is taken.

Pie charts
editHow can I make pie charts in Forced assimilation in Azerbaijan be together, and not one from below the other? Smpad (talk) 11:35, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Smpad: I made a solution [1] where they wrap in narrow screens. Remove the outer
<div class="floatright">...</div>
if you don't want them to float to the right with text to the left. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:03, 27 March 2024 (UTC)- PrimeHunter, thank you, colleague! With respect, Smpad (talk) 12:07, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
Should I create my own Wikipedia or Fandom page? 🤔
editI've been reading posts on Reddit about creating a page about myself on Wikipedia, whether I can or not.
But on Fandom, I have no idea.
P.S. I signed up for Wikipedia for the first time. JayAndrewBoy (talk) 12:53, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- We can't answer questions about Fandom- but in terms of Wikipedia autobiographical articles are highly discouraged, please see the autobiography policy. If you meet the definition of a notable person as shown with significant coverage in independent reliable sources, someone will eventually write about you. Also be advised that an article about yourself is not necessarily a good thing.
- You do have a user page (click your name in red above) where you can tell about yourself as a Wikipedia editor or user, but it is not a place to tell anything and everything about yourself. 331dot (talk) 12:56, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
Neologism
editWhat would it take to justify the usage of a neologism in Wikipedia's voice without attribution?
In particular, I've come across the word s–tposter used to describe people, such as in Catturd and Junlper, where it's used in the lead section. (Just so you know, I'm aware of WP:NOTCENSORED)
If at least one source calls them that, it would make sense for it to be attributed. However, if multiple generally reliable sources also ascribe that same label to them, would it be okay for Wikipedia articles to just run with that as though it were a statement of fact (e.g. X is a Y) and not just how some subject-matter experts would describe them, or would that particular description still have to be attributed to those sources? – MrPersonHumanGuy (talk) 15:56, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- @MrPersonHumanGuy: be bold and use your editorial judgement. If another editor reverts you or adds a
{{cn}}
template, then add one or more references. If there are lots of references, consider using a footnote that includes all the refs to minimize the clutter. -Arch dude (talk) 16:09, 27 March 2024 (UTC) - @Pigsonthewing: I noticed yesterday that you trimmed my heading. Were you enforcing an unwritten rule, or is there something somewhere about heading length that would apply here? – MrPersonHumanGuy (talk) 11:44, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Take a look at the length of the other headings on this page. I was concerned to improve usability and accessibility. Strictly speaking, it's not 'your' heading, BTW. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:28, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
Red boundaries on interactive maps
editI've run into two city park articles where in their respective interactive maps, the red boundary for the park is either missing (Shawnee Park) or inaccurate (Seneca Park (Louisville, Kentucky)). What do I do or where do I go to address this? Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 16:53, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- I have found partial answers to my own question. Apparently these boundaries come from OpenStreetMaps.org. For Shawnee Park, OSM is showing the correct boundary (as far as I know), but it's not showing up in the Wikipedia map. For Seneca Park (and other parks in Louisville), OSM is excluding their golf courses from the boundary, even though the city considers the golf courses features of their respective parks. I have left notes on OSM about the golf course exclusion. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 19:20, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Also, I discovered that the OSM entry for Shawnee Park was connected to the wrong WikiData page, which was a partial duplicate of the correct one. So, I fixed it on OSM and did a merge on WikiData. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 20:06, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
Infobox gene ortholog outlink not working
editIn the article Apolipoprotein AI there's a link to NCBI page in infobox: Orthologs > Human > Entrez > 355, which doesnt work, since its prepended with a dot. It comes from Wikidata, and I don't feel competent to change it. If its not directly Wikipedia issue and you cannot help with that, would you please recommend another way of changing it? InternetowyGołąb (talk) 17:22, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. The Entrez link is working for me, and I can't see "335" anywhere in the Wikidata entry d:Q1316030, so I'm not sure what the problem is. (It doesn't appear that anybody's edited the Wikidata entry recently either). ColinFine (talk) 17:56, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hm.. Im dumbfounded then. But if another user doesnt ahve such issue then it maybe was my mistake or something.
- just to make sure we are talking about same thing, the 335 is hypertext, for mouse it will be 11806 in same infobox/Orthologs. InternetowyGołąb (talk) 18:19, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
@ColinFine: Sorry for taking your time, consider solved, I checked both, it was some browser-specific shenenigans. InternetowyGołąb (talk) 18:22, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
Lisa Lane (place of death discrepancy)
editAn ip editor makes the claim that details of the place of death printed in Lisa Lane's NYT obituary are incorrect. What's the best practice here? -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 19:10, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Cl3phact0: There might be conflicting info in the different sources. I commented at the talk page. RudolfRed (talk) 19:28, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Cl3phact0: : I'm going to offer a different perspective. First, I will note that what was published in the New York Times was an obituary rather than a mere death notice. In other words, it is the 'editorial content" of the newspaper (not to say that it's an editorial, but that it isn't an advertisement). This has the full credibility of the New York Times, and I presume it is listed accordingly on the "perennial sources" list as a reliable source. Fabrickator (talk) 19:52, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
Loris Wilton
editI'm looking for an article I submitted regarding Loris Wilton - Australian Magician Michael Wilton (talk) 21:44, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

Denise Bidot
editSomeone please fix Denise Bidot's intro. I thought i was removing the faulty website but it messed up formatting. Thanks!!!! Harrison2024 (talk) 22:31, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Fixed - you'd deleted the curly braces that end the infobox parameters. AndyTheGrump (talk) 22:37, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
Submitting an edit to "Proton Therapy"
editI'd like to add this paragraph but do not want to spend my life trying to do it:
Until recently, there has been no way to physically demonstrate the Bragg Pike phenomenon that is at the heart of this medical procedure to patients. Typically, patients are shown theoretical graphs or cartoons of treatment plans, but no actual demonstration of the counterintuitive nature of proton beam actions. Directed Energy Materials, LLC has patented (US 11,534,945 B2) a process using proton beams to selectively cure liquid resins by applying the Bragg Peak principle. This has been applied in a simulated clinical example as shown in the following photographs. They demonstrate clearly that although the beam of protons travers deep into the clinical model and through liquid resin, the resin is not cured to a solid (concurrently developing a blue-purple color) except in the volume planned for the Bragg Peak.
[I have some very descriptive photographs that I find it impossible to introduce into your system....why don't you just use e-mail....

Sandbox Query
editHi there community
I am trying to create a new article/page but I seem to have a previous page I created stuck in my Sandbox (Granville Boys High School). Even though the page is live and has its own URL - it shows as my user page. Please see attached image of what I see Sandbox.
Thank you Wozza369 (talk) 23:49, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Wozza369: Edit your sandbox and remove the redirect; in the source editor that's the line with
#REDIRECT [[Granville Boys High School]]
. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 23:56, 27 March 2024 (UTC)- @Tenryuu - great thanks for your help that removed it. Still unable to add new page / article though. Wozza369 (talk) 00:22, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Wozza369: I'm afraid I don't understand; you can add whatever new content you're thinking of into the sandbox. If you'd like to draft a new article, I suggest using the article creation wizard. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:49, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Wozza369 That seems to be because in this edit you moved your sandbox to The Healthy Mummy (despite the content being identical at that point). Moves like that leave redirects, so once again your sandbox at User:Wozza369/sandbox now needs blanking as Tenryuu advised before. Incidentally, I don't think that the article will survive the new pages patrol, since it doesn't, in my opinion, demonstrate the necessary Wikinotability.
