Note Discussion copied from the "In Review" section for use on May 25, Towel Day. I left this discussion there in case it isn't chosen for this day. Hi878 (talk) 17:45, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Reply I suppose it would have been good to say that, it is a quote from Douglas Adams. Don't remember when he said it, but I know that he did. Hi878 (talk) 04:02, 8 April 2010 (UTCo
  • A thought I just had a thought, would it be a good idea to move this to the "Special" section? It could be used on May 25, which is Towel Day. If nobody says anything, I'll just move it. Oh, and would I move the comments with it, or just pretend none of you said anything? Hi878 (talk) 04:30, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Support - Good quote and good choice of link. I don't really care if it gets moved over to Specials or not, just glad it started here because I don't check the damn specials page. Nutiketaiel (talk) 11:33, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Note: I have approved the above motto from the regular nominations section for the 17th of April (2010). It was my mistake, because we were running dry and I have not read the note about leaving that nomination on both places (Regular and Special nominations). The motto has been showed on April 17 and it is also scheduled for Tuesday 25th May. IMHO we have two alternatives:

  1. Replace the motto (with a regular nomination or with one of the nominations bewlow.)
  2. Leave it where it is.

We (Hi878 and I) have thought about some alternatives. The quotes below are from the same author (Douglas Adams) and for the same date. The first nomination has a set of links while the second one is probably better, but we can not think of any links for it. Sorry for the mistake! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 09:09, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

I think you should replace the motto, (see below for my comments). WVRMADTalk Guestbook 12:46, 27 April 2010 (UTC) I'm with replacing the motto with something else. --I dream of horses (T) @ 17:30, 3 May 2010 (UTC) Oh, whoops! I need to vote! --I dream of horses (T) @ 21:00, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Edit 2 ~ Douglas Adams, Mostly Harmless (1992) ~ Another quotation by Douglas Adams, but without links. This is a great quote, but we (Hi878 and I) were not able to find any links for it. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 09:09, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Edit 3 What do you think of these links? I think they're kind of funny, but you would all need to agree. :) Hi878 (talk) 02:34, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

He didn't, it was an honest mistake, apparently. :) He kept his admin powers, go to the village stocks, there is a link to a discussion that happened at AN/I about it, it's pretty funny. Hi878 (talk) 20:17, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
I think putting a link to the picture below would be funny in the "Impossible to get at or repair" part, should I create a subpage for it to link to, or just forget about that idea? Hi878 (talk) 19:22, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Never mind, I decided that I don't like the idea. Hi878 (talk) 22:15, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
I've just had a perfect idea. I've added the link above. Hi878 (talk) 04:49, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

  • Support - Obviously the main page is not "impossible to get at or repair," but a little poetic license never hurt anyone. The linking in this version is both humorous and appropriate. Nicely done. I prefer this to either of the other two suggestions. Nutiketaiel (talk) 11:23, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Anything that, in happening, causes something else to happen, causes something else to happen.
Anything that, in happening, causes itself to happen again, happens again.
It doesn't necessarily do it in chronological order, though.

It the main line from one of my favorite Akeboshi songs Tall Boy. "Today is the day, if I say so." then variations: "Today is the day, if I try so." and "Today is the day, if I do so." This is a fairly well-known quote, and I figure that it could be applicable to Wikipedia with regards to edit wars and the 3 Revert Rule. Ojay123 (TalkE-MailContribsSandbox)(Respond on my talk page! 23:25, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

In this world, there must be a Bole before there can be a horse who can run a thousand miles.

Not sure if I'm romanising 伯樂 correctly. SS, please correct it if I made a mistake. Kayau Voting IS evil 13:07, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

  • comment- The romanising is okay, but I'm not sure how many people are going to understand the quote. Plus, does every admin need coaching? SS(Kay) 07:48, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Question - What the hell is a Bole? Bole is just a disambiguation page, so Wikipedia (despite being the source of all knowledge) cannot help me. Are you referring to the airport, the town in Ghana, the town in China, the town in England, the hill, the color, or the tree trunk? I ask because none of those things really make sense. Plus est en vous
(There is more within you)

This was my school motto, thought it was quite fitting for editors on wiki who find it hard to keep going! Rudy 07:51, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

  • Strong oppose - the following must be done in order to make it acceptable:
  1. Link it so it's related to Wikipedia.
  2. Put up an arrow link to your school.
  3. Insert a line break between the French and the English.

By the way, this site is called Wikipedia, not wiki. A wiki is any website using wiki software; there are thousands of them. Kayau Voting IS evil 12:04, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Edit 2, suggestion. ~AH1(TCU) 20:32, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

  • Weak oppose - for two reasons: First, someone who doesn't know French will never guess that plus means more and en means in, and linking en to wikiprojects doesn't make any sense anyway. (If the quote is il y a plus en vous then probably this linking will make more sense, but since a) that's probably bad grammar and 2) it isn't anyway, I'm opposing this.) Kayau Voting IS evil 01:41, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Oppose - The links don't match with the words they're connected to at all. Nutiketaiel (talk) 11:26, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
