The most viewed articles for August 2004, derived from historical data scattered in various places on the English Wikipedia, wikimedia.org, and elsewhere.
The August 2004 statistics were first posted at Wikipedia:Popular_pages on October 29, 2004, and was limited a list of pages exceeding 10,000 hits for the month. At this time, Wikipedia used Webalizer to track page views, archive.org has preserved a copy of the August 2004 report with includes the 50 most popular URLs: [1].
The list includes the Main Page (unlike the way the WP:TOP25 is currently done), but the list when created was curated to exclude non-article pages.
