Welcome to WikiProject RISC OS. A number of Wikipedians have formed this collaboration resource and group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of RISC OS and the organization of information and articles on this topic. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, enquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.

Goals

edit
  • Create new articles on notable RISC OS related topics.
  • Spread awareness of RISC OS, in a respectful and realistic manner, to other Wikipedians.

Scope

edit
  • Within the English Wikipedia, all articles relating to RISC OS capable hardware, the OS itself, OS components, RISC OS software and games, companies and individuals that provided hardware/software for the platform. Note: Where appropriate, please follow the guidance for biographies of living persons.
  • Through collaboration with speakers of other languages, include information sharing with other Wikipedias, perhaps by requesting translations of articles of an acceptable quality:

Articles

edit

Articles are added into the project by the use of the {{WikiProject Computing}} banner on the Article's Talk page, adding in the riscos=yes and riscos-importance=Low/Mid/High/Top fields.

Note that the importance of an article within WikiProject RISC OS is not the same as its importance in WikiProject Computing. When assessing articles, take care not to inflate the computing importance. Most articles in this project have general computing importance=low. (RISC OS itself has general computing importance=mid.) If you're uncomfortable assessing the general computing importance, you can leave it blank.

The following is a suggestion as to how to internally grade using the riscos-importance parameter.

Suggested riscos-importance level criteria
Rating Suggestions
Top RISC OS
High Hardware platforms, Key Companies, Key OS Components
Mid Key Software and Games, People, Publications, Other Companies, Other OS Components
Low Other Software, Games, People and Publications

The bot runs daily or so (click here for manual update) to update this table of items in the RISC OS project.

You have no idea how difficult this sodding table was to setup :D--Flibble (talk) 18:45, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
