Infobox

edit

Each dog breed article should use {{Infobox dog breed}}, which looks like the example to the right:

See the template for its specific documentation.

Other infoboxes

edit
  • {{Taxobox}} – for a canid species (wolf, African wild dog etc.); this is never used for a breed, type, group, or feral population of domestic dog, though it is necessarily used at Domestic dog itself).
  • {{Infobox animal}} – for individual dogs; this is generally only used on richly developed articles like Laika (infoboxes that are not helpful to the reader or which dominate the page are often a source of dispute)
  • {{Infobox sport}} – for dog sports, as with any other
  • {{Infobox organization}} – for dog-related organizations, as with any other
  • {{Infobox hound pack}} – for hunts and packs of hounds

Stub templates

edit

For dog-related stubs, add {{dog-stub}} to the bottom of the article, which populates Category:Dog stubs, and produces this:

For dog-related books and other print materials (or online equivalents of books, like e-encyclopedias); also populates Category:Dog stubs at this time:

WikiProject tagging

edit

All talk pages of articles within Wikipedia:WikiProject Dogs should have the {{WikiProject Dogs}} template. Articles should be assessed according to the project's guidelines. For articles that are within the scope of a task force, an additional argument should be used. For example, the dog breeds task force should use {{WikiProject Dogs}}.

Here are some tasks you can do to help with WikiProject Dogs:

Photo request

edit

To add a request for a photo to an article's talk page, use {{image requested|dog breeds}} You can optionally include a special request, for example such as asking for a picture of a border collie herding sheep etc., {{image requested|dog breeds|of=your_request_goes_here}}. For dogs native to a particular region, add an "in=" parameter, e.g. {{image requested|dog breeds}}
