WP Brazil in the Signpost

The WikiProject Report would like to focus on WikiProject Brazil for a Signpost article. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Multiple editors will have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions, so be sure to sign your answers. If you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Have a great day. –Mabeenot (talk) 04:53, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Diacritics in Portuguese IPA transcriptions

Hello everyone. There's a discussion over at Help talk:IPA for Portuguese and Galician#Brazilian Portuguese unstressed vowels about whether we should include diacritics in our IPA transcriptions for unstressed vowels in Portuguese. If anyone could comment, your input would be very welcome. — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 07:01, 13 October 2012 (UTC)

same-sex marriage

For non-portuguese-non-brazilian-law experts, the situation of same sex marriage in Brazil is hard to interpret. I would welcome ideas on the interpretations of recent events at Template_talk:Same-sex_unions#Full_marriage_recognition_in_Alagoas_and_Bahia. Thanks! L.tak (talk) 05:52, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Trident (gum)

Trident (gum) is the #1 selling candy in Brazil, and the #1 chewing gum in the world. There are no pictures in that article, and there's a blank in the big international table at Candy. I think it would be good to have Brazilian Trident pictured there. Can anyone here get a picture for us and upload it to Commons? Maybe a pile of several different flavors, or an opened package (to show the contents) would be good. WhatamIdoing (talk) 01:53, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Running a local tech training event in Brazil

Hi! Just wanted to point you to my recent wikimedia-l post encouraging local communities to run tech training events. If you run a local tech training event, you can make the site better for your community -- including improving bots, templates and gadgets. And I can write and find tutorial resources for you, and likely get experienced developers to your event to teach. Feel free to email me or leave a message on my talk page if this is interesting to you! Thanks, Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation Engineering Community Manager (talk) 15:39, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Adding project to species pages

Hi, just wanted to know do you want your project page added to the talk page of species of animals native to Brazil? Some countries do this, eg Australia, others do not so I thought I would ask. As an example I have been editing the Brazilian snake-necked turtle page a species endemic to Brazil. Cheers Faendalimas talk 18:12, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

--Lecen (talk) 09:36, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

I need help on the article Neutral municipality, a user thinks "Neutral municipality" is a nickname for Rio! He obviously has not clue about Brazilian history. BrasiliaBrasilia (talk) 22:50, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Be careful, man, you're accusing fellow editors of being vandals when they're not...the guy was probably redirecting it for the lack of sources at those versions of the article, now that there's at least one, I think the article is rather fine. But more sourced information is always welcome, otherwise other people may think a redirect is best too. Victão Lopes I hear you... 14:41, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Is there a Brazilian Kennel Club or something that recognizes this breed? Domestic violence in Brazil

Domestic violence is an issue that is prevalent across Chile. This issue hinders overall growth and development of the country. I plan to edit the article "Domestic violence in Chile", outlining the importance of its impacts on Chilean society. I will include information regarding the actions of the government to fight this issue and the specific groups involved. Domestic violence strains the Chilean economy and the economies of individual communities around Chile. The costs associated with the continuation of domestic violence grossly outweigh the costs of intervening; an aspect that I intend to cover in the article.

Is Balão Mágico the pop band and is Turma do Balão Mágico the television show as I wanna write two articles one about the band and one about the television show. Dwanyewest (talk) 06:16, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Looking for help with a BLP issue

Hi, I'm posting here in the hope that someone might be willing to help with a persistent BLP issue. The article is Antonio Petrus Kalil, a figure in the jogo do Bicho in Brazil. It is based almost entirely on Portuguese sources, and there have been complaints since 2011 that it's a BLP violation because some of it is apparently unsourced or poorly sourced. There is a discussion at the BLP noticeboard here (permalink), but we are floundering because we can't understand the sources or judge their quality. If anyone here could take a look that would be very helpful. SlimVirgin (talk) 19:29, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

As of January, the popular pages tool has moved from the Toolserver to Wikimedia Tool Labs. The code has changed significantly from the Toolserver version, but users should notice few differences. Please take a moment to look over your project's list for any anomalies, such as pages that you expect to see that are missing or pages that seem to have more views than expected. Note that unlike other tools, this tool aggregates all views from redirects, which means it will typically have higher numbers. (For January 2014 specifically, 35 hours of data is missing from the WMF data, which was approximated from other dates. For most articles, this should yield a more accurate number. However, a few articles, like ones featured on the Main Page, may be off).

Web tools, to replace the ones at tools:~alexz/pop, will become available over the next few weeks at toollabs:popularpages. All of the historical data (back to July 2009 for some projects) has been copied over. The tool to view historical data is currently partially available (assessment data and a few projects may not be available at the moment). The tool to add new projects to the bot's list is also available now (editing the configuration of current projects coming soon). Unlike the previous tool, all changes will be effective immediately. OAuth is used to authenticate users, allowing only regular users to make changes to prevent abuse. A visible history of configuration additions and changes is coming soon. Once tools become fully available, their toolserver versions will redirect to Labs.

If you have any questions, want to report any bugs, or there are any features you would like to see that aren't currently available on the Toolserver tools, see the updated FAQ or contact me on my talk page. Mr.Z-bot (talk) (for Mr.Z-man) 04:56, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

If some user is following this project, I would suggest that you redesign it a bit. Just have a look at the wikiproject's main page, Wikipedia:WikiProject Brazil: there's nothing in it. There are just links to other pages, but nothing like "These are some things you can do", "These are some things going on in Wikipedia that you may be interested in", "These are some tools you can use", etc. You can check the layout of Wikipedia:Community portal or Wikipedia:WikiProject United States and take some ideas from there. Leaflet For Wikiproject Brazil At Wikimania 2014

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Hello! I'm new to the world of Wikipedia editing. I am fluent in both English and Portuguese and would really like to help with this project. I just wanted to know what kinds of articles are needed and if there's a list somewhere of required edits. Thanks! (Sorry for my naiveté!)

(Nikilada (talk) 19:46, 2 September 2014 (UTC))

Hello, Nikilada, glad to see you are willing to help. Unfortunately, this WikiProject is semi-active, which means only few people are still paying attention to it. On the other hand, it does not mean people are not editing Brazil-related articles, it's just that we are not really gathering and discussing too many things. Anyway, what kind of topics do you feel comfortable with? Music, culture, geography, sports...? Victão Lopes Fala! 05:49, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
Hi @Nikilada:, there are some articles needing expanding. The below articles are stubs that are assessed as being high or top importance.

Date formats - DMY vs MDY

Is there any reason why most Brazil-related articles seem to use the MDY date format when according to Date format by country, the official format in Brazil is DMY? Hack (talk) 13:16, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

I guess people are simply sticking to the American way of referring to dates instead of translating it precisely. Probably because American English is more popular in Brazil than the British variant. I normally use the British way, anyway. Victão Lopes Fala! 19:31, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
Would you say that DMY was more often in used in Brazil? Hack (talk) 08:33, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
DMY is actually the only possible method of writing dates in Brazilian Portuguese, be it "30/11/2014", be it "30 de novembro de 2014" (lit. 30 of November of 2014). Victão Lopes Fala! 18:33, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

Source for work and employment data

The International Labour Organization publicized few weeks ago a large report with data regarding work and employment on every Brazilian municipality. Amado Book Covers

I've been trying to upgrade the coverage of Jorge Amado's books recently and would like, in the process, to illustrate some of the articles with illustrations of the covers, which I have already done for Tieta and Tereza Batista: Home from the Wars, The Violent Land and Captains of the Sands. Unfortunately my other book covers are too worn to scan. Some of the Avon Books covers are very colourful. If anyone can assist, please upload the files to Wikipedia and either let me know or insert the photos into the relevant articles. You can base the non-free-use rationale on that used for File:TerezaBatista Cover1.jpg. Thanks Roundtheworld (talk) 11:34, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Category: Brazilian Science Fiction Writers

This category page existed, but with only 1 author. I added 7 authors based on the overlap of authors in Wikipedia with those in the Internet Speculative Fiction Database. That database contains both SF authors and Fantasy authors, and I attempted to include only those whose books (listed in the ISFDB) appeared to be more SF than Fantasy. (There are Category pages for Fantasy Writers by nationality for 32 countries, but no such page for Brazil.) If anyone's interested, I invite you to check whether I did this correctly. For the lists of claimed speculative fiction books by the various authors, many of whom are best known for other work, go to the ISFDB link and enter the author's name. Conservation in Brazil revisions

Hi all, my name is Benito and I have recently contributed to Slavery in Brazil and am currently looking to work on Conservation in Brazil. I am planning on reorganizing the article with more information and a better, more obvious theme of conservation throughout the piece.

My first plan of action is to create a better flow of information. For example, the first paragraphs of the article are very general and should introduce the topic in a more urgent tone. I think that the information presented is really great, but needs to be reworked in the piece so that the greater overarching theme of conservation is understood. The topics 'Poaching,’ ‘Invasive Species,’ and ‘Economic benefits of environmental conservation,” barely reach a combined 200 word count and deserve greater representation within the article. The effects of recent conservation efforts have been made, and while they are represented and addressed, the topic of SNUC can be expanded with regards to Brazil's national parks.

If you have any comments for me, please visit the talk page or reply here. I look forward to your input! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Benito103910 (talkcontribs) 21:37, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Unexplained lists of statistics

Is there any consensus around listings of HDI stats, as seen in Caraí (permalink) and many other such articles? Are they at all useful as presented? Should they be removed? Worked into some other form? —174.141.182.82 (talk) 06:14, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

As long as they are sourced, it's fine. It's always preferable to present them as prose instead of a list, though. Victão Lopes Fala! 18:01, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here. If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts. Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here. Thanks. — Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 08:53, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)

Delete Quiterianopólis

Is there an admin who can completely delete the Quiterianopólis article? It's a dup of Quiterianópolis. Prburley (talk) 05:29, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

It will be probably easier to formally request its deletion. Maybe it's too late for WP:A10, so you may simply PROD it. Victão Lopes Fala! 18:22, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Proposal for new WikiProject São Paulo (state)

Please read this! Thanks, — giso6150 (talk) 04:11, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

It seems that there is very little appetite for creating new WikiProjects among the community of Wikipedia administrators without a large group of editors saying that they will contribute. The only administrator to respond to the request to create a São Paulo WikiProject has indicated that a task force would be a better idea. I understand the position, even though I tend to disagree with it. I’m not here to fight.

Since my ultimate goal is to improve this WikiProject, I have started four new task force groups (linked to the main page). I hope the four topics (Geography, History, Sports, and the Arts) are broad enough to attract some participation. If there isn’t much interest or participation, at least we can slowly chip away at the enormous backlog of unassessed articles and possibly attract some users from more active WikiProjects like WikiProject Football (which has a huge overlap with WikiProject Brazil, obviously). —giso6150 (talk) 19:27, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

Brilliant move, and many thanks for creating these. Wikiproject Japan has a large number of task forces and it's good to see them start with WP Brazil! Out of curiosity, why not create a São Paulo task force alongside the others? There are many similar task forces for cities/regions out there. Prburley (talk) 16:05, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
@Pburley: Thanks for your interest! I didn’t create the São Paulo task force right now because I thought it would be easier to get people involved in these four HUGE subject areas. (About a third of the stubs seem to be sports related!) I would love to still roll out 27 additional task forces for all 26 Brazilian states + DF. In part, I figured that since geo-tagging everything into one huge bucket (`WP Brazil') was a big part of the problem that needs to be fixed, a topic-based approach might be quicker, easier, and have better results. So far, it looks promising. I won’t let go of the state- or city- level task force idea, but it might be a while before I open that can of worms again. I’ll let you know when I do. —giso6150 (talk) 17:35, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Having done a good amount of WP Brazil-related assessment over the weekend I'm personally in favor of creating a larger number task forces similar to what you see at WP:Japan (e.g., Ainu • Baseball↔ • Bibliography • Biography • Business & economy • Cars • Cinema↔ • CJKV↔ • Culture • Districts and municipalities (guideline)↔ • Education • Flora and fauna • Food and drink • Gaijin tarento • Geography & environment • History • Infrastructure • Law & government • Military history↔ • Music • Mythology • Owarai • Photo • Politics • Prefectures • Religion • Royalty and nobility • Science & technology • Shinto • Sport • Tokyo • Transwiki↔ • Update).
The cataloging librarian side of me likes classification! It seems that very few people are working on WP Brazil, it's not like anyone would object. Would also be a bonus to have groups of more specific articles available when/if source materials come along. Which is a huge hurdle with this project, even worse for WP:Angola. Prburley (talk) 14:39, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
Creating a bunch of WikiProjects seems a bit counterproductive when this project is hardly active. Hack (talk) 02:06, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
This is a discussion of Taskforces, not Wikiprojects. WP Brazil not as active as some projects, but there are some active editors. If it makes sense to those individuals to create taskforces in order to focus on a particular area (i.e., geography), they can and should make use this tool. Thanks! Prburley (talk) 13:54, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
The proposal is for a new project. Hack (talk) 14:38, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
@Prburley: and I have been working hard over the past month to create these task forces. I originally had submitted this proposal, but can see how controversial the idea of new WikiProjects is. That idea is pretty much dead in the water, but the task forces are working and we will continue to roll them out. If you want to officially close this discussion, I am fine with that decision. giso6150 (talk) 23:16, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

New task forces

I like the idea of creating new task forces to help us sort through the backlog and chop this WikiProject into more manageable chunks, as outlined above. I also have an MLS, for what it’s worth, @Prburley:! I think that the volume of articles in a particular area should drive the rollout of new task forces. I have noticed a need for these task force areas as I’ve been slogging through the backlog of unassessed articles:

Having set up the first of the four new task forces, I can attest to the amount of work that goes into creating and maintaining them. I would hate to “overbuild” and have it become unnecessarily confusing or difficult for the casual contributor. What do you think? Can we do this gradually as we identify the need? giso6150 (talk) 23:28, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

I have submitted the request for an admin to change the template to include these three new Task Forces. I will begin using these new tags immediately as I come across appropriate articles in the backlog of unassessed articles: gov, edu, and transport. I have no doubt that my friends @Prburley: and @Victor Lopes: will join me. Obrigado in advance! giso6150 (talk) 22:50, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Excellent. Too bad "sports" is going to consist entirely of obscure football players, but it is what it is. Prburley (talk) 22:53, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
I agree wholeheartedly. My hope is that we can get WikiProject Football to pitch in and deal with those articles. I have lots of snarky opinions related to the notability standards for athletes vs. everything else, but I will save those for another forum. giso6150 (talk) 23:34, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, sounds good! Victão Lopes Fala! 02:29, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
What do you plan to do to improve these articles other than to tag them? Hack (talk) 05:47, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
My personal contribution is focused on categorizing and assessment, tagging articles that need attention, creating infoboxes and templates, and generally cleaning up the collaborative spaces so that other editors have an easier time finding stuff that they want to work on. giso6150 (talk) 12:17, 24 August 2015 (UTC)

Brazil Assessment Table class=Future Request

How do I get class=Future added to WikiProject Brazil? Articles for the 2015 Olympics include Talk:Cycling at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's cross-country and others.--DThomsen8 (talk) 23:35, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

Assess the quality of the article as it is right now, and change it as there's more information. Thanks for your work! Prburley (talk) 23:52, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
All wikiprojects have standard options for the "class" and "importance" field of the template for the talk page. Projects may ignore options that may not be used, but can't create new ones. In any case, class is about the shape of the article as an article, not about the content of the article. Articles about future events may fit the same standards for stub, start, C or B as any other article. Cambalachero (talk) 03:21, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
Agreed. We have over 30,000 articles and have gotten by without the class “future” until now. It’s an interesting idea, but not needed at this time. It would be used very rarely and there are other ways for editors to keep track of the content that they want to monitor. giso6150 (talk) 20:22, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

WP:Brazil project page: it's ugly and looks outdated

Folks: the main project page for WP Brazil is both painfully outdated and painfully ugly. It's not even very easy to read. Small tabs + yellow = horrible.

1. Does anyone agree with me, or am I just cranky?
2. Is there a process to update/redesign the look of a project page? Prburley (talk) 12:15, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Don't think there's a process, though it's probably best to get consensus here. My issue with the page is that most of it is ridiculously out of date. Hack (talk) 13:28, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Support - Our friends at WikiProject Football, Earth Science, Ceramics (among others) have a much simpler and more standard page design. I would vote for rebuilding WP Brazil in this style. We could begin to build a replacement for each of the pages in the sandbox and wait for consensus (or serious objections). giso6150 (talk) 22:42, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Or not have separate pages/tabs at all. I'm partial to the design of Wikipedia:WikiProject Agriculture, minus the scrolling boxes. But simplicity (for those unfamiliar with Wikipedia and/or readers of English as a second language) and visual accessibility (I wear reading glasses now) are huge. Prburley (talk) 01:11, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
I think we should just be bold and cross over to Wikipedia:WikiProject Brazil/sandbox/New main page 2015. I would also support moving the article alerts to either that page or this one. Hack (talk) 06:46, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
Support I prefer a cleaner page. Those yellow tabs are awful. DanielGSouza (talk) 15:03, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

How to incorporate the task forces into the redesign

Copied from Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Brazil/Geography of Brazil task force (section:Moving forward…)

… I think it would be nice to bust out requested articles to each of the 8 task forces: Arts, Geography, History, etc. I will work on that angle as I concentrate my energies on redesigning the WikiProject pages this month. Having one giant list of all requested Brazilian articles defeats the purpose of having these task forces at all. … giso6150 (talk) 20:21, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

Unrelated topic, but. "Having one giant list of all requested Brazilian articles..." is precisely what these task forces need. A requested articles should be moved from a main page solicitation for articles to the respective task force pages if it exists. It's like acquisitions in the library. User-generated requests can be a strong part of collection development. Prburley (talk) 20:45, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
@Prburley: What I meant was that if we have a list of 700 requested articles, say, it would be nice to at least have them grouped out by topic so people can more quickly identify the 100 that are of particular interest to them rather than scan the whole list or give up. Would it make more sense to keep Requested Articles as one page, but divide that one page into sections for each task force? I just don’t want to think that all the tagging and sorting that we’ve done for the past four months will amount to business as usual where the topic is just “Brazil”, rather than “Brazilian Arts”, “Brazilian Football”, etc. giso6150 (talk) 04:01, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
@Giso6150: Allow a list of requested articles to accumulate on a main page or tab thereof, but move ones appropriate to a particular task force to a list at that task force as appropriate. Delete any requests for articles related to soccer in any form. Prburley (talk) 00:12, 10 October 2015 (UTC)
@Prburley: I built out the sections that I was talking about. It looks like one page, but is, in fact, eight connected pages. No need to move things around from one list to another and complicate things. Just add your request to a section of the page. I think it’s an elegant compromise. giso6150 (talk) 02:12, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

Colégio Pitágoras - Brasil

I looked at the list of Brazilian schools in Japan and noticed a lot of "Colégio Pitágoras - Brasil" http://www.brasemb.or.jp/portugues/community/school.php

http://www.pitagoras.com.br/COLEGIOS/japao/japao.asp?subunidade=2 says that the one in Hamamatsu is a part of a network, seeming to be along with schools in Brazil. But the current website http://www.colegiospitagoras.com.br/Unidades no longer shows Japan on the list. Does it mean it closed?

WhisperToMe (talk) 16:12, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Litígio de limites entre Ceará e Piauí

So, I will someday translate pt:Litígio de limites entre Ceará e Piauí to English. The article is about some "disputed" areas between the states of Ceará and Piauí. The question is: what would be the best title for such article? I didn't know what "litígio" meant even in my native Portuguese, so I rushed to the dictionary and then to a translator and it seems the English equivalent would be "litigation". Not sure if that's the best title, though. "Dispute" seems quite a strong word for a territorial controversy that does not involve the sovereignty of a nation or two different countries. Victão Lopes Fala! 00:55, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

@Victor Lopes: I looked at Category:Internal territorial disputes of the United States and have a couple of suggestions based on the surprising number of similar cases in the US. I agree that neither litigation or litígio would not the best choice. If there is a single lawsuit that is at the center of the article, then I would name it for that legal case. However, if it is an ongoing feud, Serra de Ibiapaba border dispute or Border dispute between Ceará and Piauí might be better.
Thanks, will probably follow the "Border dispute between Ceará and Piauí" format. Victão Lopes Fala! 05:45, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
