Just Wondering
editI noticed that the whole likes/dislikes, etc. part was removed. I was wondering if this article's other editors would approve of bringing it back in terms of an infobox. I have an example one on the sandbox page that links from my user page for Fei Fong Wong.

editUpdates soon, gonna add the stub and whatnot. I'll do the same for the other pages so we have a skeleton to work with.

Rename to Playable Characters?
editI think this would be better; it may look strange that krelian, etc. will have their own pages, but Fei and company won't. Perhaps until we get this page expanded and cleaned up we can give each character their own page. Deckiller 23:36, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Main characters
editOnce we get all these character articles expanded, we can give each playable his or her own page. Deckiller 03:07, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
Question Regarding Genes
editI'm interesting in certain parts of the article, namely the ones that mention the fact that "Once the Wave Existence was freed, the gene pool returned to normal." I don't think that this would be the case. When the Zohar Modifier is destroyed, Fei can still operate his gear. The game tells us that this is due to him and his gear having made contact with the Modifier. That being the case, one would believe that even after returning to the planet, Fei's gear would still be operational. Now it's my understanding that Fei's ability to be reborn in future generations of people is based off of his having made contact with the Modifier as Able in the past, so I am not so sure that he would stop being reborn. I also see no reason why Miang or Elly would stop reoccurring given that they are still in the genes of humanity and possessed part of the Wave Existence's power as well.
I don't know if there is something in Perfect Works that says the gene pool is 'returned' to normal after the destruction of the Zohar, but it didn't seem like this was the case from simply playing the game itself. TigersharkIV 19:47, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
Citan's entry
editCorrected some errors in Citan's section. He did not take his wife's last name (her name was Yui Gaspar when they met and married), he ordered a retreat from Shevat partially because he had fallen in love with Yui (it's not even certain that they fought at all in the invasion, but I left that in; he fought to a stalemate with a Gaspar). Midori was born in Shevat, not Lahan. This is taken from Perfect Works...I'm not sure where the idea came from that Yui's last name was Uzuki, it's clearly mentioned in Perfect Works that her last name was Gaspar, and no where in game is it mentioned that her maiden name was Uzuki... Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone wants a reason as to why I made those changes. 71.110.132.145 05:26, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
Name connections?
editSince Fei was based on a historical figure, it's not too much of a leap to say other characters follow the same pattern. Some very possible links:
-Bart based on ""Black Bart" Bartholomew Roberts", an "outspoken and opinionated" 18th century pirate with a "rich crimson waistcoat", to quote the article.
-Sophia based on a Gnostic figure of the same name. One is a holy woman, the other plays the role in the storyline of Xenogears.
-Billy Lee Black based on Billy the Kid, both of whom wield guns and are (nick)named "Billy". That's as far as the resemblance goes, far as I can tell...
Obviously, if what I'm saying is true, the figures in question underwent some creative revision (major to minor). But you have to admit the two Barts sound very similar.
The problem here is verification. I don't think any of the interviews cited on the main page talk about how they named the Xenogears characters. Do you suppose the Japanese version of this page has insights on this? (Regardless, there's a lot of stuff over there we don't have here.)
Or failing all else, one of us could e-mail the guy who localized this stuff. I'm pretty sure one Bart's based on the other, though... Kennard2 09:33, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Article for Id
editWhatever can be said of Id should be said in the article, but it redirects to a directory which lacks the Xenogears character. Can someone add one? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zhanghia (talk • contribs) 23:48, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Reception section
editI'll start gathering up stuff probably on Sunday, but I should be able to make a decent Reception section. To anyone adding in stuff about the characters themselves, references (in game, preferably out of game) are nice and try not to add in too much story information because Wikipedia doesn't like that. Thanks : ) Evaunit♥666♥ 05:51, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Merge?
edit- Shall we history-merge Characters of Xenogears with List of Xenogears characters? If this was done, Characters of Xenogears would become the latest edits of the combination. Characters of Xenogears is an abridgement of List of Xenogears characters. Do we accept the full text or the abridged version? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:22, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- List of Xenogears characters was actually merged with Xenogears#Characters for not that long ago ([1][2]). Several editors have collaborated on improving the Xenogears article, and as such we needed to trim the merged characters section quite a bit ([3]). It was also decided that the section should be split, due to all the lost content ([4]). However, the editor creating Characters of Xenogears wasn't aware of the fact that List of Xenogears characters existed as a redirect, and made the new article. The name "Characters of Xenogears" was chosen because it is the most commonly used title for characters lists, see Characters of Final Fantasy VIII and Characters of Kingdom Hearts. Anyway, long story short: the List of Xenogears characters was meant to be moved to Characters of Xenogears with the trimmed content, but as the user (Evaunit666) did not know it already existed, he created a new one. So I think merging the two article's histories is the way to go here. The Prince (talk) 21:40, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- List of Xenogears characters has history from 23:21, 28 July 2005 to 06:50, 17 May 2008, when it was redirected to Xenogears#Characters. After that, I saw a histmerge request for this page and saw that there was controversy about that request, so I reverted it to full text and started this discussion about what to do.
- Xenogears has history from 05:40, 30 September 2001 to now.
- Characters of Xenogears has history from 02:41, 29 August 2008 to now.
- Do you want Xenogears and List of Xenogears characters to be histmerged? Or what?
- No, I want Characters of Xenogears and List of Xenogears characters to be histmerged, so that Characters of Xenogears also includes List of Xenogears characters' history. The Prince (talk) 14:04, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Histmerge done
edit- Done: I histmerged List of Xenogears characters to Characters of Xenogears. The join is at this editing; this gap corresponds to a severe abridgement. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 16:35, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
New Miang Data
editI have updated the Miang data. Now theres much more to read about her since I think she's the most complex and fascinating character of the game.--Miang 998 (talk) 10:59, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- I completely understand your standpoint, but so much of the added info just does not belong on wikipedia. It's mostly original research and that's the sort of stuff that gets character list articles deleted. If you could cite the info from in game text/outside sources, that'd be useful, but I hate to say that that's simply too much detail for a fictional character here.?EVAUNIT神の人間の殺害者 23:25, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
