Add a Section called Pros and Cons
editI would like to add a sections to the Citizen Oversight Wikipedia pros and cons of oversight boards Mep71 (talk) 23:42, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
Citizen oversight
editI would like to add other terms that are interchangeable for Citizen Oversight. Citizen oversight can also be referred to as civilian or external oversight.
Added alternative wording, some oversight boards do refer to themselves as Civilian instead, but I have failed to find any that use a name other than the two already listed. --HoadRog (talk) 10:13, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
Add section Justification for oversight
edit== Add section Justification for oversight == I would like to add information about why citizen oversight has become so important. I am thinking about adding information misconduct in the private and public sector which have resulted in increased involvement. I also found some inform that support that citizen oversight occurs when there are problem like Enron. Citizen want to have an impact and fix problems.

- The added information is all about civilian control of militaries. I am going to move that to a separate article -- Civilian control of the military -- rather than have it interwoven in this and I will move this article to "Civilian oversight of law enforcement" BCorr|Брайен 14:33, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
Proposed merge of Civilian police oversight agency into Civilian oversight of law enforcement
editThese two pages cover the same topic and mention the same things. Civilian oversight of law enforcement seems like a better destination, since it's older and has fewer cleanup issues. Apocheir (talk) 18:00, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
- i second this. how does it happen? DoctorKarpiak (talk) 17:15, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 17:16, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- @DoctorKarpiak: for information, any editor can do this once a consensus is reached (or, at least, no objections, having given enough time for comment). You can see the procedure at WP:MERGING. Please do feel free to edit/improve the combined page, as I do these rather simply, and the input of subject experts such as yourself is more valuable than that of generalists.
