Link to incorrect review
editThe link to Mike Williams' review of the game for USGamer, with the game scored 4 of 5, points to Dave Meikleham's review with no score. Should I investigate, or someone knows the cause? MichalZim (talk) 14:49, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
I investigated why link to USGamer's review by Williams directs to VG247's review by Dave Meikleham.
It seems USGamer is defunct and some of its addresses point now to corresponding material from its partner, VG247. Note, that this is not quite the case of USGamer's review of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands, as in the latter case VG247 copied the material from USGamer and the link still points to the same review by the same author, only located on a different site:
https://www.vg247.com/ghost-recon-wildlands-review
In case of the review "Far Cry New Dawn" however, the link now directs to another review with different scoring (actually, to review with no scoring, while the previous review presumably had a score of 4/5).
I tried to find some proof on the net that the USGamer's review has a score of 4/5, so we could direct to the proof rather than the actual review.
Here is exerpt from the review on metacritic,
https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/far-cry-new-dawn/critic-reviews
however metacritic is sometimes wrong, namely here:
https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/sniper-elite-iii/critic-reviews
they give EGM score of 50 out of 100, while it should be 40 out of 100. Also here:
https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/phoenix-point/critic-reviews
they give score of PCGamesN as 90, while it should be 80.
In short, I have found no proof that USGamer's review for "Far Cry New Dawn" had a score of 4 out of 5. I am going to delete table row with the USGamer's review today, maybe tomorrow. Maybe it's not the right thing to do, maybe the fact that someone wrote it was 4 out 5 was enough. Maybe one could find proof more convincing that metacritic, that it was 4/5. - I've repaired the USGamer links with archive URLs. -- ferret (talk) 14:45, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
