One of Ive's earlier projects was working on the design of the Newton MessagePad 100 (the original). Mentioned in BusinessWeek Who is Jonathan Ives?: "He designed the first PDA to run Apple's short-lived Newton software." --Bratling 16:20, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Recognition (again)

The CBE he was awarded is mentioned twice in the "Recognition" section. The second time it is mentioned, it says: "Ive was also listed in the 2006 New Years Honours list, receiving a CBE, for services to the design industry." Is that also as in: ... as well as the CBE we have already read about? I think Ive is a dude, but I don't think it twice. Anyway, you get my drift.

Ive also worked on the iMac G4..

How could anyone forget that it was Ive who came up with the amazing iMac G4 design with the built-in counter-balanced floating screen design? I remember his part in envisioning the design was explicitly mentioned in the announcement video when the product was introduced. It was probably the most interesting design for a computer ever produced.. much more striking than the minimalist iMac G5 (iPod-like) that followed it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Matt Carrell (talk • contribs) 06:55, 24 April 2007 (UTC).

Personal involvement

This article makes the perrenial mistake of creditting all the designs to Ive personally, rather than to his team. Apple have never been particularly clear about how much Ive actually does himself, so it's impossible to know either way. I think the article should credit "The team led by Ive" (or whatever) unless there's a reliable source that explicitly says it was him that came up with the idea. If you check Ive's patents you can quite clearly see he is THE designer, even 200 of the 313 patents of Steve Jobs' name Ive as dual patent holder. More than 200 of the patents attributed to Jobs also list Apple design guru Jonathan Ive, indicating the close collaboration between the two in creating the vision for Apple's products.Twobells (talk) 10:49, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

The G3 was hardly revolutionary, despite what Apple marketing may think. The transistor was revolutionary, putting the computer in the same case as the screen isn't. Design motifs

While I think that the section on design motifs is well written and informative, does it really belong in an article on Ive? Ianbetteridge (talk) 21:44, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

No, this article can be renamed to Apple design motifs. Personal information on Ive should be moved out to a separate article. Jay (talk) 13:16, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I believe the design motifs should be in a new article as Jay suggests, adding a link in the Ive biographical article. Although Ive is Vice President of Industrial Design, this info is more relevant in a new article about the whole evolution of design at Apple. Plus I think there is enough info available for making a whole article about it, or at least adding it to the Apple Industrial Design Group article. --Lithium2177 (talk) 02:36, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
