Article name
editI think this article should be named NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award because the Finals MVp is like that and also the regular season one. -- K. Annoyomous24 17:16, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- Agree, I will move the article.—Chris! ct 18:48, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Controvery Section
editI think this should be included or a break down of who received how many votes displayed. It isn't wild speculation to suggest that a completely opaque voting process was likely manipulated for the sake of positive PR. If there were many votes cast, as in recent years, then the chances of a tie would have been extremely slim. --71.107.94.226 (talk) 06:05, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- If you find more references for this section, then you could talk to WT:NBA about it. Talking about this here will likely not resolve anything. -- [[SRE.K.A.L.|L.A.K.ERS]] 06:08, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- I've added another reference. I could add a dozen more, but It's not worth my effort. If the wiki editors want to side with the official NBA line and dismiss anything else as "speculation" that doesn't deserve mention in the article then whatever but I disagree. --71.107.94.226 (talk) 02:48, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- I see what you are saying. But per our policy of WP:Undue weight, such a minor point of view has no place in this article. "If a viewpoint is held by an extremely small (or vastly limited) minority, it does not belong in Wikipedia regardless of whether it is true or not and regardless of whether you can prove it or not."—Chris! ct 03:23, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
Controversy
editSome journalists have questioned whether the 2009 All-Star MVP votes were accurately counted.
The NBA’s tabulation of votes that made Shaq and Kobe Bryant co-MVP’s felt as legitimate as election night in Havana, but who could blame the irresistible irony of Shaq and Kobe tugging on that MVP trophy at night’s end.[1]
Of course, it would be another massive coincidence if they actually tied in the balloting, with fans at home texting in votes, which counted "toward choosing the official" MVP, according to NBA.com.
Do you have a picture of Bryant and O'Neal tying in the Internet vote, 1,672,488-1,672,488?
Me either.
So, the NBA, which alone decided how to weight the Internet vote, effectively chose its MVPs too![2]
Picture of Bob Pettit
editSo fare I can see Bob Pettit was the only one who won the award 4 times. Is there anybody who can post a picture of him? Verpacker Ing. (talk) 08:29, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, he's the only one to win four All-Star Game MVPs to date. Note that the one he won in 1959 was shared (with Elgin Baylor). — Myasuda (talk) 13:16, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Article name
editI think this article should be named back to NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award, consistent with with the Finals MVP award. Zaffrice (talk) 08:43, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Koavf: You added "Kobe Bryant" to the title in 2020.[1] Do you have any comment?—Bagumba (talk) 09:00, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- "NBA All-Star Game Kobe Bryant Most Valuable Player (award)" is its name. That should be the name of the article. ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 09:05, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Koavf: I haven't looked at this one, but pages typically use the WP:COMMONNAME, which might not always be the full name.—Bagumba (talk) 09:31, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'm 100% certain that if someone is referring to this award, it is way more common to call it "the All-Star MVP" than anything else, but that's obviously unworkable. ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 18:57, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
