Non-Free rationale for File:Jvari monastery plan.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Jvari monastery plan.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under Non-Free content criteria but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a Non-Free rationale.

If you have uploaded other Non-Free media, consider checking that you have specified the Non-Free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Saint Nino

edit

Hello. I think there's something wrong. If Nino was born either in 298 or in 300, how she was persecuted by Tiridates, when Armenian was converted in 301 AD. Besides she reached Iberia in 320 or so, and then I'm shure Armenia was already converted to Christianity. Also she couldn't be with Hripsime, as she died in 290 AD. File:Ekvtime.gif needs authorship information

edit
Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Ekvtime.gif appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|Kober/Archive15}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:38, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

I am from ru.wiki (you use my article about gen. Kazbek).

"He was appointed Chief of Staff of the Warsaw Fortress in 1891 and promoted to major-general on October 29, 1892" - no, he was promoted and apointed the same day, October 29 1892. November 11 1887 - 29 October 1892 he was commander of 51 Infantry Litovsky regiment.

"Kazbegi then served as Chief of Staff of the Ivangorod Fortress from 1899 to 1902, when he received the rank of lieutenant-general and appointment as Chief of Staff of Warsaw Military District. In 1905, he was made governor-general of Khabarovsk and commandant of Vladivostok. He served in this capacity during the Russian Revolution of 1905, which saw his promotion to the rank of general of infantry" - it's number of mistakes of Gogitidze.

After Warsaw Fortress gen. Kazbek was:

General-quartermaster of Staff of Warsaw military district (March 27 1897 - July 3 1899) (he never was head of staff of this district)

Commandant (not head of staff) of Ivangorod Fortress (July 3 1899 - June 23 1902). Lieutenant-General (promoted January 1 1901, with seniority since December 6 1900)

Commandant of Warsaw Fortress (June 23 1902 - January 25 1905)

Commandant of Vladivostok Fortress (January 25 1905 - March 7 1906)

At disposal of Commander-in-chief on Far East (March 7 1906 - December 14 1906)

Attached to Chief Staff (December 14 1906 - September 25 1907)

September 25 1907 - promoted to General of Infantry and put to retire with uniform and pension

"his 37 years of military service" - according to "Список генералам по старшинству", he was on military service since 1860, so - 47 years, not 37.

And Ivane Kazbegi - it's mistake of Gogitidze, his name was Иван Николаевич, not Иван Георгиевич (Gogitidze wrongly made him the son of general Georgy). Илья Мухин (talk) 22:04, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Vesennye ritmy. Tbilisi-80.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Vesennye ritmy. Tbilisi-80.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Medieval Georgian primary sources

edit

Hi Kober, how are you? I was wondering if you could help me out with something: I'm working on a little project and I was hoping if you could point out to me the major Georgian histories and chronicles from the medieval period (ca. 850-1250) which discuss the lives of the reigns of the kings. There's the Kartlis Tskhovreba, but I want to know the names of other works and especially if they're available in translation in English or another Western language. Thanks a lot. Best, --Marshal Bagramyan (talk) 22:09, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks a lot, bud. Finding a copy of Thomson's translation won't seem too difficult, but Rapp's looks very hard to come by, and the price at Amazon does not endear too much to my budget. I was also hoping if you could point me to a good (not necessarily comprehensive) survey dedicated to medieval Georgian churches and monuments (again from the period above), which dwells on function, purpose, and not necessarily just description and style.--Marshal Bagramyan (talk) 16:26, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the recommendations Kober. I also came across Alpago Novello's Art and Architecture in Medieval Georgia (1980), so you can suggest that book in case anyone else has similar requests as mine.--Marshal Bagramyan (talk) 20:01, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

"Following" your contributions

Yes, I am now going to be following your edits more closely for a while. I had formerly considered you to be a fairly neutral editor on Georgia-related subjects, but as a result of your scattering of the Armenian Pantheon article with citation rquired tags I now have doubts about that opinion. You have tagged content that you know to be factually correct. A good editor does not initiate the removal of truthful content even if that content is not fully cited. And also, please feel free to make any necessary edits to User:Yerevanci/Chess in Georgia. It is currently just the copy of Chess in Armenia article and I'm going to replace with similar information about Georgia.--Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 00:20, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

clarity

edit

Dear Kober, this sentence in Georgia (country) article introduction section makes no sense: " It contains two de facto independent regions, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, which gained limited international recognition after the 2008 Russo-Georgian War." What does "contains" mean and the subject "it" is referred to Georgia? The sentence is dubious and unclear, not to mention grammar and style. I think we should make a coherent and clear sentence which emphasizes that these so called break-away territories are in fact UN recognized (SC, GA) undivided parts of the sovereign territory of Georgia and that these territories are officially recognized by Georgia and some Western countries (US, Czech Republic, all of the baltic states, Sweden, UK, Canada, NATO, EU, Council of Europe, Human Rights watch, etc) as occupied territories by the Russian Federation. We also need to add in the introduction that most of the countries of the world, including international organizations stand firm in their support for territorial integrity of Georgia in accordance to the international law. What do you think? I have list of countries and quotes by their high on recognizing Abkhazia and so called “South Ossetia” as territories under Russian military occupation. Best. Iberieli (talk) 08:01, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

we can initiate an article titles: " International recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as Occupied Territories" and include all of the resolutions and statements by Foreign dignataries, countries and organizations recognizing the the occupation. Iberieli (talk) 10:33, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Republicans Vz1qcRjplt.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:06, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

The article Bedi Kartlisa has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable journal. Tagged for notability for more than a year without any improvement forthcoming. Only independent source is a one-paragraph mention in a book. Does not meet WP:NJournals or WP:GNG.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Son/Daughter of in Article Titles

edit

I'm curious as to why you create titles for children of monarchs of Caucasia in the form "Son/Daughter of King..."? Not only do these titles seem unwieldy in length, but they are unlikely titles for anyone to use in looking up the person in Wikipedia. Moreover, NCROY calls for such persons to be called "Prince/Princess of..." if no other name is more commonly used for the person in English-language sources. Also, doesn't Batonishvili translate, approximately, as "Royal Prince"? Are these articles getting re-directs under "Prince/Princess"? I'm concerned that the avoidance of the princely attribute for members of historical ruling dynasties in Caucasia could be interpreted as not being considered worthy of the princely title in a Western encyclopedia in the way that, e.g., African and Native American rulers' relatives (i.e. Sara Forbes Bonetta, Abram Petrovich Gannibal, Sacagewea, Wild Cat) are usually denied that titulature. Just trying to understand the logic. FactStraight (talk) 22:53, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Just wondering why you moved most of the articles you created to Prince name of Georgia. The former way was more sufficient and it place their name first plus it made all the Georgian princes uniformed. Will you reconsider your moves?--The Emperor's New Spy (talk) 04:51, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

To me putting prince in front of a name is only common in European royalty in the modern period after the Middle Ages. We can move all the George's and David's to prince name of Georgia (lifespan) but it begs the question if calling George, son of David VII of Georgia Prince George of Georgia (1250–1268) is as inappropriate as adding prince to the title of Louis of France (1244–1260). Also using Russia as an example and Bagrationi family in Russia after annexation, all the noble princes outside the Romanov are not titled Prince but by their names.--The Emperor's New Spy (talk) 05:03, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
Please do not move these pages back, since they now conform to NCROY, and violated that guideline previously. The arguments I made at the top of this section explain your moves, and I thank you. Also thanks for your reply on my talk page. If the repetitiveness of given names is the problem, I have a couple of suggestions consistent with NCROY: First, disambiguation pages for identical or very similar names can be set up to help people sort them out before they find themselves reading the wrong bio. Also, we can more carefully distinguish among members of the various cadet branches, rather than titling everyone "Prince GivenName Bagrationi" or "Princess GivenName of Georgia", e.g. "Prince Erekle of Khaketi", "Princess Anna of Kartli", "Prince Alexander of Imereti", "Princess Maria of Mukhrani", "Prince George Davitashvili", etc. Although Georgian apparently doesn't use patronymics, disambiguation can also be given by dates, e.g. "Prince Luarsab of Kartli (1710-1754)" or "Princess Tamara of Kakheti (c. 1350)". Finally, secondary distinctions can be suffixed (as much as I dislike them personally), e.g. "Kaikhushru, Prince of Mukhrani, Regent of Georgia" or "Princess Kethevan of Kartli, Shahbanu of Persia" or "Princess Elene of Kartli, Tsarevna of Imereti" or "Anton II Bagrationi, Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia" or "Princess Thamar Imeretinsky, Baroness O'Hagan". FactStraight (talk) 05:09, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your input. --KoberTalk 16:07, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Ketevan of Georgia

edit

Per your edit summary today on Heraclius II of Georgia, I've reverted out my addition of Burke's Royal Families of the World as a cite, since you've found it erroneously conflates Ketevan's bio with that of another Bagrationi princess. But if the info could be sorted out, Burke's would still be a useful source for Princess Ketevan of Georgia since it also includes apparently accurate details of her life and, particularly, of her marriage to Ioane Bagrationi, Prince of Mukhrani given on p.63. FactStraight (talk) 12:05, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your note. I think Burke is a credible source and has its place in any on the Georgian royalty, but it is too heavily based on Cyril Toumanoff whose works were at that time the only available source on Georgian genealogies in the West.--KoberTalk 12:08, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Georgian names

edit

Are Georgian women commonly referred by their first and last names and if so does the last name change upon marriage? I notice that before I created the list of consort article that all the articles of the Georgian kings mentioned their wives as first name née the family they came from and that very little sources call them by both first name and last name. Could you clarify what you mean when you wrote "Tamar was a co-regnant with her husband in Kartli"? Did she rule in her own right or was she just a wife (queen consort) with some influence over her husband? --The Emperor's New Spy (talk) 16:41, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Do you know the proper names of the wives and fathers-in-law of David II of Kakheti and Constantine II of Kakheti? David's article says "Yatar, daughter of the shamkhal Jahan-Begum" how would you write? I seen it "Jatri-Djahan-Begum of Jerevan" iahere and "Fakhri Jan Begum" here. Constantine's article only mentions his first wife, which I am not really concerned with since she died before her husband's reign, but this mentions a second wife "daughter of H.E. Fath 'Ali Khan Daghistani, I'timad ud-Daula, sometime Chief Minister of Persia". Who is Constantine's father-in-law? I notice that whenever I copy names from sites that this or even their Wikipedia article it is wrong like in the case of Ghias ad-din's name before you create an article for him. --The Emperor's New Spy (talk) 01:07, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Also do you know if these Persian/Ottoman subordinate kings of Georgia married their wives monogamously in Christian ceremonies (making them queens) or were they polygamous concubines (therefore not queens) much like their counterparts in Persia or the Ottoman Empirre.--The Emperor's New Spy (talk) 01:06, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

debate about Stalin's birthplace/ethnicity you mentioned ...

Stalin's background and birthplace are fully documented - there's no debate in scholarly circles. He was born in the town of Gori, Tiflis Governorate, Russian Empire (present-day Georgia). I'm not sure what "debate" you say is raging but it certainly isn't among scholarly academics. HammerFilmFan (talk) 08:53, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

Need help with DYK nom of Khorashan of Kartli

edit

You're probably aware that the article Khorashan of Kartli has been nominated for DYK – the discussion is at Template:Did you know nominations/Khorashan of Kartli. I'm unable to verify the proposed hook because the source is in French; we normally assume good faith on foreign-language sources, but in this case, we need to know whether the hook fact (that Khorashan was scared into hiding by a nightmare) is known to have happened or is just a story, which isn't clear from the article. I'd be grateful if you could help us out. DoctorKubla (talk) 14:09, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

Jorjadze (ჯჯჯ) 17:17, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

--KoberTalk 17:20, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Jorjadze (ჯჯჯ) 17:22, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
KoberTalk 17:25, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Jorjadze (ჯჯჯ) 17:28, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
--KoberTalk 17:32, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Jorjadze (ჯჯჯ) 17:36, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
-KoberTalk 17:45, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Jorjadze (ჯჯჯ) 17:51, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
--KoberTalk 17:57, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Jorjadze (ჯჯჯ) 18:01, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
:) --KoberTalk 18:07, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
House of Gruzinsky? Jorjadze (ჯჯჯ) 18:11, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
მაგ., იმერეთის ბაგრატიონებს - House of Bagrationi of Imereti, გიორგი XII-ს შთამომავლობა თავისუფლად მოთავსდება - House of Bagrationi of Kakheti... --KoberTalk 18:16, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
House of Kartli, House of Kakheti და Imereti. --KoberTalk 19:30, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Jorjadze (ჯჯჯ) 19:37, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Jorjadze (ჯჯჯ) 20:48, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
