You have recently added Image:Starship Troopers 3 Marauder.jpg to the Starship Troopers 3: Marauder page. I have put a deletion tag on the image for the following reason- Obsolete/Unencyclopedic/Low Quality- This is a fake poster. It is fan-made. If you look at the bottom credits where it states everyone's name, you will see that a lot of the names are just a bunch of scrambled, jumbled up letters and aren't names at all, that is proof that it is a fake. • Yes, many sites do claim that it is the official movie poster, but again it is not because if you look at the bottom credits where it states everyone's name, you will see that a lot of the names are just a bunch of scrambled, jumbled up letters and aren't names at all, that is proof that it is a fake. Look at it again, movie posters do not have fake names or scrambled, jumbled up letters on their poster. Also a fan could have done a screenshot of the background of the official movie site and added stuff to it that makes it seem real, it's not that hard to do, but again it's fake. Blackadder

Hi. Could you please explain the rationale for having a flag icon in this article. As I understand it, they are particularly frowned upon in infoboxes. As far as I know the infoboxes for film and television should not contain any. Other projects such as Military History absolutely want to have them in their infoboxes. Would be nice to have some consistency! They look pretty, but are not really necessary. Greetings TINYMARK 16:11, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Ratings

Hey, EclipseSSD. I've noticed that you've been expanding ratings symbols throughout a number of video game articles. I feel that they are unnecessary as the rating symbols are fairly self-explanatory... (as ratings are usually always linked to their respective classification board's articles, which provide more detailed information on what the ratings mean)...

I believe the parentheses should only be used to specify whether or not the rating applies to a specific version of the game (for example, the PS2 version of a game may have received a different rating to that of the DS version and so on). Additional parentheses only add excess clutter (it would be like typing in "Restricted 17+" next to every R rated movie).

Also, "RP" is not a real rating as it is more of a symbol to signify that a game is yet to be rated (akin to symbols such as "TBC"). If a rating is not included in the infobox, I'm sure that readers can draw that the game has not been rated yet (see WP:NOT). Plus symbols such as RP imply that a game is definately being released in the US even though that may not be entirely true.

Basically, I just want the rating symbols to be consistent between articles (for an example of how a myriad of different ratings can be listed neatly, see GTA:SA).

I'm terribly sorry if I've come across as a bit overbearing or fussy over what is (arguably) a trivial matter, but this is something that's been bothering me for a while. I'd like to hear your feedback. Thanks. :) Sillygostly (talk) 05:46, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

I see where you coming from, but I believe people need to understand what those ratings mean. e.g. If someone came across an article with a ESRB: Rating Pending (RP), it would be easier for them to understand rather than just a RP with no explanation. Also, future video games without an ESRB rating would actually be pending, so I believe it is necessary and relevent to add Rating Pending to the article, as does video game websites.--EclipseSSD (talk) 19:07, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

You're missing the point that RP isn't a rating. It's just a symbol used in advertising (similar to how the OFLC has a symbol that reads "This film is yet to be classified. Please check the classification closer to the release date" in advertising, which is pretty much the same purpose as the RP symbol is serving). Besides, these terms are abbreviated for a reason. It would be silly (for instance) to type in "High Definition DVD" every time the acronym HD DVD is mentioned on Wikipedia (even though readers may not be immediately familiar with what it means). I understand what you're saying, so we should leave all upcoming video games' ratings blank until they are officially announced and released. That's fine with me.
