Your username

edit

Hiاربابی دوم. You might want to consider slightly modifying your username for the reasons given in WP:NONLATIN. Although it's not required that your username be in English of even the Latin alphabet, it can make it much easier for others to discuss things with you or to refer to you on English Wikipedia. It will also make it much easier for others to use notification templates when they want to attract your attention for some reason. It is possible to have an "English" username, but then customize your signature so that your non-English username is displayed when you sign your posts. You can find out more about this at WP:NLS. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:09, 5 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the message. I hope this fits better! اربابی دوم (talk) 07:27, 5 April 2022 (UTC) Arbabi second (talk) 07:33, 5 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that seems to be OK as long as you don't mind other users referring to you as "Arbabi second". You might, however, want to double check how you customized your signature because there's no need to have two time stamps in it, and that could potentially be confusing to some since they might mistake your signature for two different users. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:40, 5 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Double stamping happened by mistake, as I had changed the signature on the Persian wiki. Now I know that a user can have different signatures on 2 or more language wikis. Arbabi second (talk) 07:49, 5 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Dr. Ebrahim Chehrazi.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Dr. Ebrahim Chehrazi.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 01:32, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Salavat:I received the message "File permission issue with file: Dr. Ebrahim Chehrazi.jpg". It seems too complicated for me. Therefore, I asked another user from wiki-farsi for help and am now waiting for an answer. Arbabi second (talk) 11:33, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Now that there is an article for Ebrahim Chehrazi I have changed the licensing to non-free biog-pic as it doesn't seem likely that it falls under PD-EU-no author disclosure. Salavat (talk) 08:08, 13 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Abolhassan Najafi.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Abolhassan Najafi.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:04, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

I added that picture back, thanks for an effective help. Arbabi second (talk) 17:26, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
The file has been removed again by a WP:BOT because its non-free use in Abolhasan Najafi doesn't comply with non-free content use criterion #10c. As explained in WP:NFC#Implementation, a non-free file requires two things: (1) a file copyright license and (2) a separate specific non-free use rationale for each use of the file. File:Abolhassan Najafi.jpg currently has item (1) but it's still lacking item (2), and the file will keep being removed by a bot each time you re-add it to the article as long as it's still without the required non-free use rationale for that particular use. So, what you need to do is add a non-free use rationale to the file's page (you can try using a template like Template:Non-free use rationale biog or you can add one manually as explained here to do this), and only then re-add the file to the article. Adding the missing non-free rationale should stop the bot from removing the file, but that's only one of the ten non-free content use criteria that need to be satisfied and the file's non-free use could still be challenged by another user if they feel the particular use isn't policy compliant.
Since you seem to be having problems uploading and using photos here on English Wikipedia, it might eb a good idea for you to stop doing so for the time being until you become more familiar with the process. Each Wikipedia project has its own policies and guidelines, and things may be done differently here on English Wikipedia than they are on Persian Wikipedia. File uploading and use on English Wikipedia, non-free files in particular, have to satisfy lots of restrictions and it's easy to make mistakes if you're not familiar with them. Mistakes are OK, but if you keep making them (especially the same ones over and over again), an English Wikipedia administrator might feel the need to step in and prevent you from making any more. So, if you're not sure how to upload and use a file, it's probably better to ask for help first at a place like the Wikipedia Help Desk, Wikipedia Tea House or this noticeboard to avoid any problems. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:52, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:Abolhassan Najafi.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Abolhassan Najafi.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:31, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for informing me. Sure this takes a lot of time and I regret that I without wanting it, have caused it. I have added this explanation:

This image is intended to be used only for current wikipedia articles. It is not permitted to use this image in any other context.

In the file description and hope it will help. Arbabi second (talk) 06:12, 13 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
The problem with the missing non-free use rationale has been fixed by another user. You can see what they did by looking at the file's page history. I removed the statement you added because it's not really necessary and already somewhat covered by the copyright license on the file's page. Non-free content can only be used in accordance with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy and that policy is quite restrictive as it is, but individual restrictions that you may want to add aren't really applicable. Moreover, there's really no 100% way to stop someone from downloading this file and re-using it in perhaps a way that you might not like. The best that Wikipedia can do is state "Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement." like is seen in the copyright license, but there's no way for Wikipedia to control what people do with the images it hosts outside of Wikipedia; moreover, the Wikimedia Foundation is very unlikely to go after people who use such images inappropriately. So, if such things are really a concern of yours (which would be a bit misguided since you're not the copyright holder of the image), you should probably request that the file be deleted. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:53, 13 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Marchjuly: That image is already available, not least on the farsi-wiki.and therefore seems reasonable to use it on the English version of the same article. The difficult thing is practical details that unfortunately can not be learned without some trial and error. However I received your message. I will go through it, thank you. Unfortunately, an article you recently created Hamidreza Gangozehi, is not ready as written to remain published. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Vanderwaalforces}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Proposed deletion of Hassan Golnaraghi

edit

The article Hassan Golnaraghi has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I don’t find any in depth coverage of this subject to suggest notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
