Thanks for uploading Image:BBC News 24 evolution.JPG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

 • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
 • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --12:12, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Logo LCI.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo LCI.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:11, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision

edit

Hello, you appear to have listed yourself as a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision. A discussion is currently ongoing on the talk page on reform of this projects goals and organisation. Proposals have been made on the future covering and scope of WikiProjects relating to the Eurovision Dance Contest, Eurovision Song Contest, and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. These proposals include possibly re-naming WikiProject Eurovision to WikiProject Eurovision Song Contest and starting a new project called WikiProject Eurovision Dance Contest. As a member of this project, you may wish to give your input at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision. Thank you. Camaron | Chris (talk) 08:16, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I noticed that you used to be very active within the project. Other than the above changes, we are currently trying to reformat our project page behind the scenes. You seem to be very good at layouts, i can tell by your userpage, and your help would be greatly appreciated on User:Grk1011/Drafts. If you want to help out, just let me know. Wikimedia Commons

edit

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! There is, however, another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view images you have previously uploaded by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!--OsamaK 14:15, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Unanimous_C4_Show.PNG

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Unanimous_C4_Show.PNG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rockfang (talk) 17:33, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:East Midlands Trains logo.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:East Midlands Trains logo.png.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:10, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Help

edit

helpme On esc I have been trying to make "...in the Eurovision Song Contest" as the default link on the template, currently it's "...in the Eurovision Contest". However the hard bit is removing the default "Song" and replacing it with "Dance". Example:

UK should link to   United Kingdom

While:

should link to   United Kingdom

If you need any more info ask here. Thanks. --  axg ⁞⁞ talk  14:16, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Try using a named paramater "type" and just put
{Song}

when "Dance" is supplied it will be dance, otherwise "Song". (if "Song" is supplied, it will still work). Like this.xeno (talk) 17:24, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

 • No problem. I've "tried too hard" to do things as well, and then someone comes along, slaps me in the back of the head and says "why didn't you just do this?" ;> –xeno (talk) 18:29, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry to get involved, but I see changes on the heart. Why not just leave it blank? The EBU uses a blank heart/logo when not used to represent a specific contest year or country. Greekboy (talk) 22:13, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I thought the image would look too plain and it's not the actual heart so people may get confused in what it means, we can't use a flag because it represents the ESC, JESC and EDC, nor the EU flag. A map of Europe and surrounding area would work. Besides the image is just used on WP:Eurovision, there is another which is blank, and used in the Template:Infobox Eurovision.
This one?. Also, I don't know if you participated in the discussion, but I think we're not including the dance in the project. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 22:33, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Don't like that image, and I do think that EDC should be separate, as ESC and JESC are closely related in song. --  axg ⁞⁞ talk  22:37, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:AxG Countiesvisit.PNG

edit

A tag has been placed on Image:AxG Countiesvisit.PNG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is a redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.   axg ⁞⁞ talk  01:07, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request to move article Sky Two incomplete

edit

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Sky Two to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

 1. Added NewName at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
 2. Added to the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved, to automatically create a discussion section there.
 3. Added to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 17:42, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

new infobox

edit

I created Template:Infobox ESC entry (test template) to 1, convert the other one to an easier to manage format, and 2, to make it look nicer when used with Infobox Single. See Secret Combination (song). Since you are good with templates, can you try to get the entries under "appearance chronology" to be optional? As of now they will just show some bold lines and parenthesis when left blank. You can see new and old here. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 02:08, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it works now. You can see my examples of it in use here. What do you think? Is it better than the other one? Greekboy had me change the color so it wouldn't look like the singles box which is kinda what I wanted, but o well. I thought the other looked plain and this one looks better when used with the singles infobox. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 12:10, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm still thinking about it, so I am working on it on one of my sandboxes, it may look fatter, but I will condense it down, as it uses the same coding on the as Template:Infobox Eurovision]], which is much easier for me. A splash of colour really does make it a lot more eye catching and less boring. --  axg ⁞⁞ talk  12:19, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yea, I converted it to the infobox template cause I just scratched my head when I looked at the current one lol. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 12:21, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
The code is at User:AxG/Sandbox, which is used on User:AxG/Sandbox1 and I have not put anything in the "next" codes. --  axg ⁞⁞ talk  12:39, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Any chance that you can try it on Template:Infobox ESC entry (test template) since that is the one that will be used (uses template:infobox). I'd like to have it ready for when the newsletter goes out. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 18:13, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I Just copied the code from the old template and it seems to work fine. Its now in use so if you see any problems on the pages, let me know. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 15:41, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have started a Wikipedia:Request for comment on this topic at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#RfC on ESCKaz reliability. This discussion originates from questions on the reliability of the ESCKaz website and if it should be used in Eurovision articles on Wikipedia. It has now being extended to fully review all sources used in articles covered by WikiProject Eurovision, including ESCToday and Oikotimes. This is a very important issue to the project as sourcing is a key part of articles, and consensus needs to be reached on which sources should be used when, where and how. This discussion however has so far lacked a wide range of editor participation, and as you have listed yourself as a member of WikiProject Eurovision I invite you to add your thoughts. In particular more input is needed from editors which have a high level of experience with relevant guidelines/policies such as Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability, and who have up until now stayed outside this debate, though all contributions are welcome. Thank you. Camaron | Chris (talk) 10:57, 27 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:TV Ark frontpage.PNG.

Template work

edit

Ok, so I think we've decided that the junior contest will be part of this project, so since you know so much about templates :), can you one make ESC National Year junior compatible and maybe add a special category for the project banner: EurovisionNotice, maybe like "contest=junior" with default being the regular ESC? Thanks. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 16:27, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The ESC National one does not work for ESC pages now, Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. What/what will be the code once its up and running so it can be added to the instructions? Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 16:42, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok great, the link works right, I haven't tried it for Junior yet tho (how would I?), I'll talk to Camaron about the banner since he's an admin. The only thing is that the link on the ESC national isn't white anymore, but good job. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 16:53, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok its working right except for the white font, I tried and don't know how to fix it. It only shows up white for Junior. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 19:10, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Heya. Thanks AxG for the work on the template, sorry about creating a new one, it just seemed logical to me. ńăŧħăń - ŧăłķ 22:01, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Don't worry I made the same mistake when creating Inesc, Injesc and Inedc, when I noticed just a bit of fiddling and can merge them into one, so that's why we now have Esc. --  axg ⁞⁞ talk  22:08, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The problem wasn't what it said lol. I wanted the contest thing to put articles in a junior category, but still in the regular esc cats, just an additional one like junior esc articles :P Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 20:13, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thats what i didnt want cause it would separate them. I was thinking just a category "Junior Eurovision Song Contest articles" which contest=junior would do. They would still be in the other ones like "C-class regular Eurovision Song Contest artcles". Get it? Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 20:27, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Doesn't that make sense? Or should we have a separate thing for junior ratings. i was thinking about it on like a project level. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 20:41, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:ITV Player logo.png

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:ITV Player logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 16:09, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
