Monarchy of Barbados
editHi there! I've been seeing your good work on the Monarchy of Barbados page. I'm going to put the 'monarchs of Barbados' navbox into the Template namespace, so that it's available for use on other pages if anyone wants to. I hope that's okay with you? Also, I took the liberty of fixing your 'to start a new thread' link, just above. Cheers! [ roux ] [x] was prince of canada 05:08, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- Per your edit summary at [1], I see nothing at the source you gave[2] about Charles's views on Barbados. The only views of his in the source are on fishing. Also, there's no such person as 'Prince of Edinburg [sic]'. DrKay (talk) 07:07, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Call the Planet, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of Call the Planet and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Calltech (talk) 10:25, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
No content in Category:Hotels in Barbados
editHello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Hotels in Barbados, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Hotels in Barbados has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Hotels in Barbados, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Recent Edits
editHi
At the risk of falling fould of WP:DTTR, this is a message to let you know that I've reverted a wholesale set of changes you made yesterday. Adding external links is generally frowned upon and you should really only be adding external links used in the preparation of an article i.e. Wikipedia is not a repository for external links. You also made a series of edits that were not supported by the source you provided and I note that I'm not the only person to have reverted those changes. Please think carefully about your edits and avoid circular redirects. Justin talk 11:08, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Yes my link does support that but I have no problem with these people beating their ego to put the Queen in everything for the sake of making articles incorrect. For one thing the link I added says that a Crown colony is the first 2 of the evolution of a colony. Before steps 3 and 4 where a Crown Colony becomes a self governing colony. Did you really read the source??? see Stages of colonial evolution 1 & 2 are Crown Colony status. 3 can be (weakly) and 4 is a Self Governing colony. What source do you- have that says it is not???? CaribDigita (talk) 22:21, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes I read the source and that wasn't what the source said, the disambiguation was not supported by it. You'd also malformed the references anyway. I would also suggest that you refrain from making personal attacks against people and make assumptions about their agenda. Really it reveals more about your own POV agenda than anything else. Again I point out that I'm not the only person to make this point with you and I had the courtesy to let you know. It might be nice if you returned the favour. Justin talk 22:29, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- I did not do a personal attack. I merely asked if you read what I had actually placed? Plus I have conversated about this (at great lengths) on the British Overseas Territories discussion page where even another person chimed in and said they too knew that a "Crown Colony" is something completely different... Also there *is* some sort of agenda on here that I've seen over the months to put the Queen on every page of a country even on things she does not really have a interest. E.g. adding Royal Anthem to every Commonwealth Realm. Which is not- true. God Save the Queen holds status in the U.K. But it does not in every realm. CaribDigita (talk) 22:36, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- <sarcasm>Ah you got me, its a conspiracy to infiltrate the Queen into wikipedia, curses foiled again</sarcasm off>. No agenda whatsoever, please don't impugn my motives - that is a personal attack. Justin talk 09:15, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Request for help, please
editGreetings CaribDigita ,
Nice to meet you.
Could you kindly help me translate this article into the unique and brilliant Bajan language? Please.
The "True Jesus Church" is an independent church that was established in Beijing, China in 1917. Today, there are approximately 2.5 million members in forty eight countries and six continents. The church belongs to the Pentecostal group of Christianity that emerged during the early twentieth century. They aim to preach the gospel to all nations before the Second Coming of Jesus.
The ten main beliefs of the church are:
- Holy Spirit
- Baptism
- Feet Washing
- Holy Communion
- Sabbath Day
- Jesus Christ
- The Bible
- Salvation
- The church
- Final Judgement
Your help would be very Gratefully Appreciated, Thankyou very much. --Jose77 (talk) 03:07, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
LOL. I may not be the best- person for this because my family is from many different islands so my lingo could be a kind of a corruption of them all. It also depends how deep you'd want to go. Every Bajan is different and usually Barbadian-English hovers in and out of what would be considered British standard English. The best analogy I can think of would be someone speaking Spanglish. Today, all that really remains is just a dialect because much of it has become archaic.... Such as "Doin dixie" for dancing or "jin-jin" for the Queen. Today it is just really a "pepper-ing" of the English language if you will. But if you really want to take it to an extreme- it could be...
De "true Jesus Church" is ah independent church dah was establish in Beijing, China in 1917. Today day- are approximately 2.5 million members in forty eight countries and 'pun six continents. It is simple really. But it is weird my brain does certain things in Bajan automatically that I can't always put into words how or why it is doing it.... TH rounds off as "ff" or "D" (Like Teef for "Theeth" or Dah for "That"). There's also a tendency in Bajan to use "on" or "'pun" when referring to something big, so "pun six continents" sounds to me more like the more correct form. Depending on what you're going to do with that information it may- serve your purpose better to just use standard English. Some older Bajans still frown on using the dialect if your talking about something serious. CaribDigita (talk) 06:25, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- You know it is funny. I called them last spring because their research of Bajan seemed really outdated and there were some inaccuracies. They say they went by research done during like the 1980's I believe. They told me I could try reaching the person that did the research but they now live in Hawaii which is quite a few time zones different from me, so I never actually ended up pursuing it. Anyway one thing they mix up is there's Barbadian English and there's the Bajan dialect. Bajan dialect is the one that survives today and Bajan is pretty much more streamlined then Barbadian English. It is sort of grey where Barbadian English ends and Bajan begins however they work differently. Barbadian English actually have different words for example aches in the body were commonly called a form of Cold. Meanwhile today dependent on where it is in the body it'll be more streamlined. Bajan is more like the Bermudian accent of Bahamian accent it is a very slight lilt to the voice but it is spoken very quickly which is what gives it difficulty for non-speakers.
Contrary to what Ethnologue Barbadians follow British spelling. E.g. Organisation as opposed to Organization. (Example: "The CERO- Central Emergency Relief Organisation of Barbados" -- http://cero.gov.bb/ ). They use Colour as opposed to Color. or Cheque as opposed to Check. One thing though unique is due to the fact that Barbados works with both US and UK they tend not to use either periods or commas in their numbers. e.g. 1,000 as in the US, would be just "1 000" in Barbados which also is unlike the UK where it would be 1.000
Anywho see for yourself. On the Voice of Barbados they have a character they call "Market Vendor" which is a daily comedy skit. It is spoken in Bajan Dialect.
Also feel free to see the online version of the news which may have some interviews where you may catch the Bajan dialect.
Around Minute 4 you can hear the Minister in Parliament starting to drift into Bajan. P.S. the ads are the best display of Bajan Dialect.
Thankyou very much
edit- THANKYOU SO MUCH CaribDigita for your Excellent Translation effort!
- I am very very Grateful.
- May God Bless You!
- For your information, the Bajan language is internationally recognized and its ISO Code is bjs. You are therefore welcome to make the spelling as close to the actual Bajan pronounciation as much as possible.

Category renaming
editHi, I just saw the CFD for Category:Caribbean Community (organization), which had folks puzzled until it was discovered that you had emptied that category and moved the contents to the new category you created, Category:Caribbean Community (organisation). In this case, no real harm was done, but in the future if you want to change the name of a catgeory, please be sure to follow the rules and take your proposal to CFD rather than implementing it unilaterally. (In many cases, simple changes can be dealt with at Speedy Renaming.) Best, Cgingold (talk) 03:41, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Parish Category renaming
edit- Reading Parishes of Barbados will show that "The country of Barbados is currently subdivided into administrative sub-regions known as parishes." These articles are about civil parishes -- not a church parishes nor parish churches. But if you think that there is a better word that "civil" let us know.
- Likewise Montserrat is indeed "divided into three parishes" they are "administrative parishes" Your outside link is for Civil Parishes in Britain. These islands use the name parish but need not use the same system. --Carlaude (talk) 16:22, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- According to the vote, the current vote is an attempt to rename from "Cat:Parishes of Barbados" into "Cat:Civil Parishes of Barbados" or the like. Civil Parishes was a system administered by the Parish Church/Vestry system. See Oxford dictionary here. Moving discussion to [Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2008_December_16#Category:Parishes] CaribDigita (talk) 09:10, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Brighton now part of Boston was part of Middlesex County, Massachusetts
editJust so you know Brighton now part of Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts was part of Middlesex County, Massachusetts, click on the Brighton link to see the history. Best Regards DavidBlackwell (talk) 23:45, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi, was this an FYI or did I ask this somewhere? Refresh my memory a little. CaribDigita (talk) 00:15, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
On October 2, 2008 you made an unnecessary revert in the Middlesex County, Massachusetts page saying "But umm. Boston is Suffolk County" which is not exactly correct. Suffolk county includes the city of Chelsea and Boston now, but before 1793 it included all the towns in Norfolk county. Also Brighton which is now part of Boston and Suffolk county was part of Middlesex county before Boston annexed it in the mid 1800s. Dorchester, Roxbury, West Roxbury, and Hyde Park were once independent towns in Norfolk county which were annexed to Boston and became part of Suffolk county again. I am uncertain how geographic catagories work, but southern Middlesex county and most of Norfolk county are parts of the Greater Boston metropolitan area. Just a minor quible. Best Regards DavidBlackwell (talk) 00:25, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I see what you are referring to now. Ok you're talking about this revision [3] correct? Regarding my removal of Category "Category:Geography of Boston, Massachusetts" from Middlesex county's article. Ok. My reason for that action is I believe it to be a mistake. As it stands today Middlesex county is not actually a part of the capital-city of Boston. For one major reason Suffolk County has its own district court that is separate of the Middlesex County court system. (Which mind you, Brighton has a branch of the Suffolk County court on Chestnut Hill Ave too.) The Middlesex article states that the lead courts for Middlesex county is in Woburn and Cambridge that wouldn't be true for Brighton or the rest of Suffolk county today.
Also there is another point you stated which is important. You stated "but southern Middlesex county and most of Norfolk county are parts of the Greater Boston metropolitan area." True, I agree they can be considered a part of the "Greater Boston metropolitan area" but it is important not to state they are officially a part of Boston city proper though. "Greater Boston" is a colloquial term that we have locally that means many different things to different people. For example some people say "Greater Boston" is everything inside then route 128-belt. While others will claim it follows the 617 area code. Further yet, others will say it means the entire portion of Eastern Massachusetts. "Greater Boston" is an undefined term or area but Boston city isn't. Claiming Middlesex county is a part of Boston I think is more confusing and would confuse more than it helps. It would be just like if you were to add the catagory Middlesex Country to the bottom of the Brighton article today. I think you are on to something though and it sounds like a good idea to add to the article that Brighton switched from Middlesex county. Somerville might have undergone the same thing since it was once a part of Charlestown. CaribDigita (talk) 00:32, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Galmo Williams
editA tag has been placed on Galmo Williams requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Category:Tributaries of the Boston Harbor
editHello CaribDigita, and thanks for creating Category:Tributaries of the Boston Harbor. I wonder about two things, though. First, is "tributary" appropriate for use with harbors? I'm familiar with its use for rivers but not for harbors. Second, would it be better to remove "the"? The usual expressions being "Boston Harbor" but "the Charles River." You might consider something like "Category:Rivers emptying into Boston Harbor." There might be better names too. If you create a new category before putting too many articles in the existing one, it's not too hard to do. In any case, it's probably good to have a category for these rivers, so thanks again. Fg2 (talk) 01:46, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- Really good point. Thanks for alerting me early too! Haha :-)
- I'm sure we can brainstorm this out. The suggestion "Cat:Rivers emptying into Boston Harbor" sounds good??? I don't think I've ever heard of the Boston Harbor called a basin or watershed??? (hence I had overlooked that esp. since it opens to the wider Massachusetts Bay.) That would be original research anyway.
- I had tried to think of other river areas that may have this same type of situation but the only thing I could think of were Mississippi River and Category:Great Lakes as places where many rivers meet at a larger place (Esp. where that place would likely have a Category to see its current structure on Wikipedia.) I'm going to hold off on adding anything further 'til I hear back from you. CaribDigita (talk) 02:03, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, I'm out of ideas. You might find some support at one of the projects listed under Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory/Geographical#Bodies of water. Furnace Brook Parkway
editI noticed your addition to Alewife Brook Parkway. I started to do some research on the "brook" parkway on the opposite side of Boston, Furnace Brook Parkway about a month ago, but I haven't been able to get anything together yet. I have a collection of eleven links to probable references in storage, here is an example of how I have them:
1909 speed increased to 20mph http://books.google.com/books?id=q9YqAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA117&dq=%22Furnace+Brook+Parkway%22&lr=
One of the things I didn't find much on yet is the origin of the name, which was the brook of course but also the old furnace in West Quincy. If you want to go ahead and do a history section for the Furnace Brook Parkway, please respond here and I will pass the other ten refs on to you. Sswonk (talk) 18:01, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yikes, I really know nothing about Furnace Brook Parkway unfortunately. I've heard it on local news/traffic updates but, I know nothing about it physically though. On the other hand I know the Alewife Brook Parkway like the back of my hand. CaribDigita (talk) 21:31, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- OK, I am in Quincy so I can take photos too, I just thought I would run it by you. I'll find time to organize and add the history at some point. Thanks – Sswonk (talk) 23:54, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- I fell that I wouldn't know what to say. In what prose etc. since I'm not sure I've even traveled down that road to describe it. What is Furnace Brook Pkwy. near? Is it close to the Bayside Expo Ctr? CaribDigita (talk) 01:11, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- No, it goes essentially through the middle of Quincy from the old quarries at the eastern edge of the Blue Hills Reservation to the bay. It is exit 8 off of I-93. It is two lane and goes through beautiful areas usually tree-lined and has several gentle curves following the course of the brook. It goes through the northern side of Quincy Center but you don't see much commercialization there, then it continues to the water where it meets Quincy Shore Drive at the mouth of Blacks Creek. Try 42°14′38.37″N 71°1′29.93″W / 42.2439917°N 71.0249806°W , if you have Google Earth that is a good application to use to get a sense of it. The road near to Bayside you are thinking of is probably Morrissey Boulevard which parallels 93 or possibly Columbia Road, which goes through Dorchester to Franklin Park. Speedy deletion nomination of Boston Harbor Hotel

Thanks for all of your work!
editHi there. Quick question for you. I noticed you'd contributed to the Eugene Melnyk article, and was wondering if you knew which user added the line about Melnyk being "a benefactor of Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada". This is a mystery that I'd like to solve, and any information would help. Thanks so much.
I removed the category to Android software from this article because I don't see how it fits..
It should actually be in the article too. It is on the Android. [4] CaribDigita (talk) 05:02, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not disputing that it can be used, it's just a superfluous external link (since there is no mention of it in the article) -- ErnestVoice (User) (Talk) 22:47, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well Category. Not exactly "link". I don't believe I added any actual links in that article. I had only a category for that article to show up in the Android software category(page history) but, I do understand your point. CaribDigita (talk) 23:12, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Nice addition! Cheers, DBaK (talk) 21:25, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Barbados
editGreat work on the Barbados-China relations article! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Just wondering, have you been able to find a locator map for the two countries? Because right now that image link is broken. Also, I have written a "language" section under "Demographics" in the Barbados article, and would like you to proofread it to check for factual or grammatical errors. Best wishes, -- Colipon+(Talk) 12:09, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Usually, someone has to create the locater map. I'm taking one semester off from school so I don't have access to the programme Photoshop on campus. But generally, someone creates them. WP: has a blank one somewhere and they do a colour fill on the countries involved one in orange and one in green to make it match the key. The demographics section looks good. I think it would good to note though Bajan, Spanish, and Franch are all not officially recognised. (What I mean say only "Standard English" is recognised officially by the government...) CaribDigita (talk) 18:23, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Also, are you sure Hu Jintao visited Barbados in February? I think it was Hui Liangyu... Colipon+(Talk) 12:25, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Wow. I think you may be correct.[5] I may have had Hu Jintao on the mind for some reason. CaribDigita (talk) 18:22, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
I've made both changes, the first one per your request, and the second one I replaced Hu Jintao with Hui Liangyu. In any case, I think the Barbados article still needs work. For example, the "health care" section is terribly underdeveloped, but is something that is subject to significant debate on the island. In addition, the Lede is not all that reflective of the article's contents, and doesn't even mention that it is a popular tourist destination. Colipon+(Talk) 20:49, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Old Cambridge Police HQ
editFile:Frmr Camb Police Bldg.jpg Is this building still standing? WhisperToMe (talk) 19:52, 30 November 2009 (UTC) Yes, it is still standing... Oddly enough it still has the Police PD sign on it too actually. I just saw it last week but it was too late in the evening to get a good decent photo. CaribDigita (talk) 20:12, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
- In that case, the image above should be deleted. You cannot upload a non-free photo if it is possible to take a free equivalent. In this case it is possible to take a free photo of the police HQ, so you should upload your own photo of the old police HQ; this copyrighted photo will be deleted. WhisperToMe (talk) 20:25, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
That's fair. I will try to get one tomorrow if I can before the sun goes down and replace the one there. CaribDigita (talk) 05:20, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Regarding deletion of File:Frmr Camb Police Bldg.jpg
editHi, CaribDigita I've noticed that you have nominated this image, which you yourself have uploaded, for deletion. I just want to let you know: You needn't have done that; there is a faster way. Just add {{db-author}} to the top of the image page.
Fleet Command (talk) 22:18, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- Ohh, thanks! I'm still kind of new to the Wikicommons side of things so that is very helpful in terms of setting me in the right direction for future reference. Thanks again!
- P.S. how do I nominate the new files I uploaded for a slight rename? I noticed that I forgot the word "police" in their names. *smirk* CaribDigita (talk) 22:21, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- You wrote:

- To rename an image uploaded on Wikimedia Commons, see here: commons:Template:Rename
- To rename an image uploaded on Wikipedia, see here: Template:Rename media. (This only applies to images.)
- You wrote:

- Wikicommons? The image that I'm talking about is hosted on Wikipedia not Wikimedia Commons. The tip that I just gave you about adding {{db-author}} works only on Wikipedia, OK? For deletion of things on Commons, refer to its help page. So, why don't you go to File:Frmr Camb Police Bldg.jpg right now and add a {{db-author}} to it? Fleet Command (talk) 23:39, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yes you're right.... I was working quickly. The new ones I uploaded are now on commons. The old (non-commercially restrictive one) as you said is on WP. CaribDigita (talk) 00:21, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
RFC at my talk page
editIn an effort to create a navbox for urban parkways in the Boston metro area, I have come to the realization that what is really needed is something that ties together the entire system first envisioned by Charles Eliot in the late nineteenth century. I feel that this should be a cooperative effort, probably created as a subproject of WP:MASS. However, initially I am seeking comments and/or assistance from several editors that have contributed in various ways to elements of the scope of such a project. This note is being posted to the user pages of Beland, CaribDigita, Denimadept, EraserGirl, Grk1011, Hertz1888, Jameslwoodward, Markles, NE2, Polaron and Swampyank. I apologize in advance to anyone who wishes to comment that I have left off of the list of users, as I may have unintentionally forgotten them and others. Hi CaribDigita, I wonder if it makes sense to include the early german history in the caribbean into the article with a fellow named Ambrosius Ehinger, who became conquistador and the first gouvernor of Little-Venice in late 1529.
Same as I think it could be in there that the german Kriegsmarine blocked off Barbados' harbour with their U-boats in WWII. U-514 (Auffermann) fired torpedoes at the canadian ship Cornwallis and sank it in Bridgetown harbour. What do you think? The latter is a part of our history I don't like at all, but it still is our history. Regards Joerg the BajanZindy (talk) 17:31, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah I think it would be okay. Does it apply to Barbados specifically? I ask that because although the Caribbean works and cooperates together, anything I put in a regional context as part of the relations seems to be deleted by other Wikipedians. E.g. when I created an article about Chile and all their investments they've sunk down in Barbados, and about how they court Barbados for votes and stuff at all kinds of different organizations someone always nominates the article for deletion.
- I have a next question for you to. There's a legend in Barbados about the Parliament in Barbados voting on a declaration of war in 1939 and it being the first British colony to do so. (e.g. Caribbean.com has part of this in their Barbados profile. [6] ) The legend goes further though that Hitler intercepted a cable from Barbados (to Britain) about that infamous line to Winston Churchill about: "Don't worry Little England is with you" and it supposedly infuriating Hitler. Then supposedly Hitler was going to offer Barbados the fellow British colony of Tobago if it would agree to stay out of the war? Do you know of any specific places in Germany that has kept Hitler/Nazi phone transmission records? I know the Nazi's destroyed most everything but I'm beginning to wonder if this legend isn't beginning to take on some feet. I've always wanted to try confirming this legend, or compiling evidence to show that it couldn't have happen. CaribDigita (talk) 18:58, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- Well, this legend sounds too odd for me, although nothin' really can surprise me no more. We got a german version of the National Archives here. It's called the Bundesarchiv (Federal Archives). They should know. If not, I'd suggest the National Archives in London (not the Royal Archives). If they don't know, it's another myth.

- Regarding my suggestion to the History section of the Barbados–Germany relations article, I'd have be keep the first one from 1529 extremely small otherwise somebody fuh sure will knock it out. The U-boat blockade to Barbados is a well known fact and was published in some books. One of these books is named The U-boat war in the Caribbean. Behind the link you'll be able to read a li'l about it. To avoid this article ending up in the deletion log again, we just can try monitoring it together. Bathsheba, Saint Joseph, Barbados
editGood work on the Barbados article! Just a question, is there a reason to place the parish in the article name in the case of Bathsheba? As far as I can tell this has not been applied to any other place names in Barbados. Colipon+(Talk) 12:49, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- They all started-out like that because many place names in Barbados repeat. So it was simpler to have everything follow the same syntax. However some have been moved away... If you look on Google maps you'll see. There are two Cave Hills for example which comes immediately to mind. CaribDigita (talk) 21:12, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- You would not mind a move back to "Bathsheba, Barbados" or "Bathsheba (Barbados)", then? Even the US cities began to move away from the "City, state" format about a year or two ago. Colipon+(Talk) 10:50, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

editThanks for the photos of the cattle pass...I was curious as to what the site looked like, considering cattle are a bit scarce in the Boston area today! Swampyank (talk) 00:13, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- :-) Hehe, not a problem. I saw it about 15 years ago due to a funny story. It is at the side of the tracks but it looked rather run-down at that time. The only way to see that structure now (I believe) would be to either jump down onto the Commuter Rail tracks at Porter Square station, or to walk east from the crossing gate at Sherman Street. Either way you have to be-careful because the trains tear-by traveling about 45 MPH. It is easy for them to sneak up behind you since they don't emit sound on the front-end. (The only way you can hear them in the front is when they blow the horn or it is passing besides you.) CaribDigita (talk) 03:01, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

The article D-Link G604T Network Adaptor has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- There is no verifiability, its all original research and its not a notable product. Find at least one neutral review, or really this article should go.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jez t e C 19:07, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Australia–Barbados relations
editAn editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Australia–Barbados relations. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Australia–Barbados relations (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 19:14, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Boston & Cambridge
editGreetings, CD. May I suggest moving your new paragraph in the Boston article's Geography section to the History section, and merging it with the very similar annexation treatment already there (just below the Haymarket postcard)?
Those NYT articles on the proposed absorption of Cambridge, added earlier to the Cambridge article, are a real find. (I'm glad the proposals never came to fruition.) If you wouldn't mind, though, I would like to do a little rewording of the text.
It looks as though you were right about reporting the abandonment of the Watertown Branch some time ago. Hard to see how it is ever going to see activity again except as a rail trail. Cheers, Hertz1888 (talk) 07:10, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there Hertz, good to hear from you again. That would be fine. You should know me by now, anything I place is fair game for manipulation. I wont take offence. I promise. :-) I can surely move the Boston Geography part to history... In regards to the Cambridge annexation topic, it sounds like it was the officials of Cambridge alone which put the breaks on it. If I read between-the-lines correctly, it seems like Boston folks may have been in favour(?) I found a log of the agenda at Mass. General Court (statehouse) but I have to read through so I don't just sum-up an entire topic on a single one sentence argument in that long document. It names several Cambridge and Boston residents (petitioners) throughout either in-favour/opposed-of annexation.
- RE: the Watertown Branch, I called the Cambridge Dept. of Community development and told them I've been contributing recently to the WP: article and to please look it over. I spoke with someone there who told me some interesting things about plans for that trail. Just recently now I see a huge housing development going up on New Street behind the Fresh Pond mall. I asked if it would be okay to include it in the article and they said fine but I haven't found actual references for that info yet so I haven't. Perhaps if I see you at one of the WP: meet-ups I'll fill you in, but I'm sort of hesitant about posting it so publicly just yet. I've been taking part in discussions on the website www.archboston.org, there's some real interesting folks on there. Some real good ole Bostonians on there. The topic of Annexation came up on there so I've started researching it to find out what is fact and what is fiction. and came across that Cambridge article in the NYT. I despise how they used like half of the article basically trashing Cambridge and saying Boston would be practically the saving grace of Cambridge. lol
- Here's another interesting tid-bit I found. Perhaps Cambridge could retake some of 'olde' West Cambridge? The Petition Of The Mayor Of Cambridge For Annexation Of A Part Of Belmont, Barnes and Nobel. I wonder though, how much of Belmont could comfortably be transferred to Cambridge without taking actual town assets? For example, Belmont High School is pretty close to the border. Are their students okay with commuting all the way to CRLS? :-) CaribDigita (talk) 08:15, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi CaribDigita, Coming across the Barbados article, I saw in the see also section: Outline of Barbados. Clicking on it, I saw a basic overview of Barbados, but nothing what couldn't be fitted in either the main article (Barbados) or into Geography of Barbados. Most info is already in the main article anyway. The whole thing mek me bazodee. Would you support a merger? Joerg, the BajanZindy (talk) 21:43, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

- Oh boy. That is a big no-no. Even if I have to walk I go out and take my own photos! ,-) So are you ready for the holidays? CaribDigita (talk) 22:16, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah man, I ready fuh de holidays. Actually I pretty busy here shoveling snow. We got 4 to 5 inches new snow pon de ground and it still snowing. If I in de mood I play some Caribbean Christmas tunes, listen to VOB, watch Channel 8. I caught this nice Farmer's Choice Ham christmas commercial the other day. Really lovely, mek me feel like homesick to de rock. Yuh hear dat Auntie Olga in de QEH wid broken hip? Joerg, the BajanZindy (talk) 00:56, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- Watch your back with that snow... I actually just got back in Boston lastnight. My mother called and said she wants to go to Barbados. Therefore Ihave to stay with her house in the state while she heads down. I'm not liking this cold weather myself
- LOL. I know just the commercial you're talking about. It has the guy with the deep blue eyes, and then the woman that says she loves spending time with her family and then she looks around like she realise what she has admitted to saying. :-) The commercial that always gets me-- is the one for the Solar Hotwater heaters... Here's that commercial LOL total Bajan expansionary vernacular. CaribDigita (talk) 01:23, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hey CaribDigita,
take a look at my talk page section Boo Boo edit, please. I hope I reacted correctly. To finish the li'l argument off I just removed the Boo Boo man from the Boo Boo disamb page again.
Joerg, the BajanZindy (talk) 21:00, 21 December 2010 (UTC)- Hi, I just read it but I'm not entirely following it. Are your comments listed elsewhere??? I may end up learning something new I actually am unaware of the rules regarding a disambig. page. CaribDigita (talk) 23:54, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hey man, this User (Trista, so it should be a she) got some real bewzin from me. I really don't understand why on earth Boo Boo Man doesn't belong in the Boo Boo disamb page as both means the same and Lord Invader made a famous calypso about it. Trista's comments are on my talk page and my comments are on her's. I wrote her this morning to leave me alone. Maybe there're rules to follow, but I doubt there's a rule forbidding to list names with the same spelling and meaning to be listed in a disamb page, because that would make them pages sense- and useless. Trista sounds like some never failing law and order type of person. Really upsetting. Well, it past 2:30am here, so I gine go sleep. Seasons Greetings Joerg, the BajanZindy (talk) 01:37, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Looking for Wikipedia Ambassadors
editHi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian associated with Harvard. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at schools in Boston and Cambridge (including Harvard), which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.
Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).
If you live near Boston and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.
If you're an experienced and active Wikipedian, you might be interested alternatively in becoming an Online Ambassador. The role of Online Ambassadors is to serve as mentors for students; it doesn't require any in-person outreach. Take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors in the coming term. If that's something you want to do, please apply!
You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE. The main things we're looking for in Online Ambassadors are friendliness, regular activity (since mentorship is a commitment that spans several months), and the ability to give detailed, substantive feedback on articles (both short new articles, and longer, more mature ones).

RIP Dame Olga Lopes-Seale!
editHi again,
I'd like you to check out the article about Auntie Olga. This article's still a stub and I sure you and me can add some data. BTW: I sent you an email some weeks ago regarding your images at Commons. You might wanna take a look.
Joerg, the BajanZindy (talk) 21:16, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi there. I don't know much about her.
- I just saw your email. Yikes, I wouldn't know how to start. I took over 1000 photos that I sorted them into folders. By geography and thing. The trip to B'dos happen so quick. JetBlue (or as the Bajans now calling it) BlueJet, had a fall sale and I had the chance to go but I had to book within 24 hours. So that didn't leave me any time to get a hold of a good camera or anything. I was in BIM so I could either take no photos at all or take ones with that little camera phone I had. lol Did you used to listen to Dame Olga? CaribDigita (talk) 17:25, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Joel, I'm now at a dial up line as my DSL is down since Sunday afternoon and Deutsche Telekom seems to have some real problem fixing it. It takes now ages for a page to load properly.
I never had a chance to listen to Auntie Olga, but through the papers I heard about her since Dec 1994. Regarding them pics, they're perfect, I just changed to contrast and that made them even more perfect. Sometimes a little color change, like with the satellite image, that was all, hope you liked the change. If this DSL problem takes longer, I will have to rely on the phone again. Joerg, the BajanZindy (talk) 21:45, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of The Silvertones of Barbados
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on The Silvertones of Barbados requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Epeefleche (talk) 18:47, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Hey CaribDigita!
Long time no hear. Weather wet'n'cold here. I worked a little on the Caribbean Airlines article and the article of the crashlanded Caribbean Airlines Flight BW523. The latter was nominated already once for deletion, but ended as speedy keep. Check out this article on page 22 in the Crop Over Edition of the Barbados Today online paper. I'm sure this article could be extended, same as the relevant section in the Caribbean Airlines article. Joerg, the BajanZindy (talk) 01:09, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

Warning
editCaribDigita, the edit you made to my comments here: [7] is unacceptable. This is the second time you have edited my comments on a talkpage. Next time you do it I will report you. Let me spell it out for you: since I signed those comments, that implies that anything written there was written by me, therefore you may not change it. If you disagree with what I have said, reply to it, but you can't simply change my words. --ಠ_ಠ node.ue ಠ_ಠ (talk) 19:23, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- It was not intentionally. I clicked on "History" and show the changes you made and I may have accidentally hit edit still within that mode without going back to the current version and then adding my comment. I also may not have practised due care in making sure I was only tweaking my part. Anyway I transcribed the "Bajan" example you gave. CaribDigita (talk) 20:44, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Barbadian American article
editGreetings, Regarding the Barbadian American article, you added a citation (ref name="US-stateDep") which does not have a host cite in the added consulate section (which was a great addition, btw). I'd also like to know your opinion on the article's claim of 100-150k pop in the US; the Census' FactFinder site has a 2010 report which puts the number at about 57,000...I want to update the article but am uncertain of true figures. Hello CaribDijita, I don't know how well you know the island of Montserrat, or whether you have access to any good maps of Montserrat, but in that article I started the process of identifying which settlements are in the "exclusion zone" (and thus abandoned) and which are in the northern part of the island and still inhabited. I only had a good map of the northern part. If you know Montserrat well, or have access to good maps, perhaps you could help with that? Or maybe you know someone who could help? Speedy deletion nomination of S. M. Jaleel and Company
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on S. M. Jaleel and Company, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article Barbados on the Water Festival has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Minor festival, one of many at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre. Appears to have stopped after last being held in 2010.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. PKT(alk) 20:12, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Atlantik (band)
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Atlantik (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Tonelada (talk) 11:49, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
The article Sipdroid has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- notability not demonstrated
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Deb (talk) 21:29, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
TemplateData is here
editHey CaribDigita
I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).
So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.
What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.
The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.
Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:55, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Grantley Adams International Airport
editConstructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but your recent edits, such as those to Grantley Adams International Airport, appear to be intentional disruptions designed to illustrate a point. Edits designed for the deliberate purpose of drawing opposition, including making edits you do not agree with or enforcing a rule in a generally unpopular way, are highly disruptive and can lead to a block or ban. If you feel that a policy is problematic, the policy's talk page is the proper place to raise your concerns. If you simply disagree with someone's actions in an article, discuss it on the article talk page or, if direct discussion fails, through dispute resolution. If consensus strongly disagrees with you even after you have made proper efforts, then respect the consensus, rather than trying to sway it with disruptive tactics. Thank you. please read WP:ELMINOFFICIAL. further addition is violation of this policy and may be considered vandalism. LibStar (talk) 00:00, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Libstar your continual desecration of references on the GAIA article is not warranted and is inconsistent with what Wikipedia is about. This article has taken the collaboration of many editors over the years since I've not only created but contributed to this article in kind. It is also not true that references can only be in an article. Take the following airports for example:
- George Bush Intercontinental Airport
- John F. Kennedy International Airport
- Los Angeles International Airport
- Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
- Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport
CaribDigita (talk) 00:07, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
- those airport articles do not include a link to generic advice about entry requirements to the USA, its facebook or google + nor the civil aviation department overseeing the airport. I have now removed these from the Grantley Adams article. but you have removed the photo link so that is ok. LibStar (talk) 01:22, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:29, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

New 10,000 Challenge for Canada
editHi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Links
editCaribDigita, those templates result in links to social networking sites. All links to social networking sites are discouraged (see WP:ELNO), they should not be used if the official links of the subject are there (there is, see WP:ELMINOFFICIAL and WP:NOT#REPOSITORY), especially not if the official site of the subject is explicitly linking to the same social networking sites (every single one of them is on the front page of the subjects main homepage; see WP:ELMINOFFICIAL and each of the template instructions, e.g. {{twitter}}), and for the same reasons (as described in WP:EL) excessive linkfarms are not adding to the article. Especially the linkfarm with 9 (!) social networking sites is utterly inappropriate in the article. Please do not re-include the links, and please do something about the linkfarm. Thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C 17:47, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

editThe article Kenneth Mejia has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Not yet notable under WP:NPOL
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Gbawden (talk) 07:37, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for March 10
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kenneth Mejia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Progressive. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

editYour recent editing history at Market America shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Hello CaribDigita, as a - hopefully acceptable - compromise I have preserved the added detail, but deactivated the active external link. External links in the article body are clearly discouraged per WP:EL, and adding this specific link would add zero encyclopedic value to the article. If you disagree, please start a discussion at the article's talkpage to get additional feedback from other editors. Best regards. GermanJoe (talk) 02:35, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

editGoogle Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
editHello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Use of 'Unitary' in Barbados article dispute
editHello, part of my explanation for my revert was cut off for some reason so I would like to finish it here,
Here is the definition of a unitary state: https://www.oxfordreference.com/view/10.1093/oi/authority.20110803110720298
As it is apparent that Barbados is not a federation, it is thus by default a Unitary state, please see the Wikipedia article on Unitary States for a more indepth explanation
And to repeat, the word 'Unitary' is not to be confused with 'Unicameral', a Unicameral parliament is one with just one chamber, as Barbados has two houses it is Bicameral, but this is separate to being a unitary or federal state. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2204happy (talk • contribs) 13:38, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
I have taken it to the talk page of Unitary State as an article of near if not total original research, and how I arrived at that assessment. Nothing backs the claim. It needs a reference to state "Barbados is a Unitary state" as system of government. Wikipedia cannot make stuff up. CaribDigita (talk) 17:14, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

You have shown interest in Eastern Europe or the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. editYou currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Debt-trap diplomacy. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Kautilya3 (talk) 12:01, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
The article Saint Lawrence Gap has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
for one of the "best-known neighborhoods," it seems dubious that it's gone decades without a single reference being added
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~TPW 18:51, 13 September 2022 (UTC)

editI'm not sure what "facts" you're referring to. All I did was change a link from "high island" to "volcanic island". And no I was not the one who added it into the article. Sounds like you're the one who needs to get their facts straight. Volcanoguy 15:26, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

Reversion of my edit
editHi there @CaribDigita,
You reverted my edit on University of the West Indies but did not explain what was wrong with it. I figured that it was more accurate to say it was a university system based in Jamaica, which is more informative than before. Would you be able to explain the revert? Thanks in advance. Losipov (talk) 02:33, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
- All Caribbean governments are now joint owners of the UWI today. As it is an institution of CARICOM. As such Jamaica doesn't own the two campuses in Trinidad and Tobago, nor one in Barbados nor one in Antigua and Barbuda which just opened. It was first established in Jamaica, yes. But today it is jointly based today in Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and most recently Antigua and Barbuda. The Open Campus for example isn't based-in Jamaica, it is fully based in Barbados. There's not a category for "based in the Caribbean or West Indies." CaribDigita (talk) 15:00, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
I reverted your edits to Exchange Place (Boston) because they were unsourced, or sourced with an external link, which is not permitted per WP:EL. Also, please do not add symbols like "®" and "™" to articles. If you need help please see Help:Referencing for beginners. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:50, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- I reverted it because I fail to see your point. Are you claiming the edits are un-encyclopedic in nature regarding the buildings energy status? or the subway station's entrance on the building's property leading to the subway essentially in the basement? The edits I have are referenced meaning not WP:OR. Or are you tryimg to say all 'sources' on Wikipedia need to come from books?

Just letting you know,
editJust thought I should let you know that I've reverted your move to Special Relationship based on a request at WP:RM/TR. If you wish to reinstate the moved page, please begin a move request. Thanks! EggRoll97 (talk) 01:24, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
- @EggRoll97
- Point of order. What was *actually done* was "Special Relationship" was re-pointed to the dozens of common "Special Relationships" that exist throughout the world under Special relationship (international relations). This contrasts to just 1) which it does now as it sort of smacks of WP:UNDUE .CaribDigita (talk) 01:34, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
- @CaribDigita: You can propose, and give reasons for, the move by opening a move request at Talk:Special Relationship. The technical request was already implemented at 01:20, so I have procedurally closed the 01:34 "contested technical request" that you pasted at Talk:Special Relationship (United Kingdom–United States) (which is a redirect page). {{replyto|SilverLocust}} (talk) 03:19, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
You know better
editThan to do this in an article. If you have to make snarky comments, don't do it in the article, but on the talk page, though I wouldn't recommend that either. BilCat (talk) 23:59, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- Actually that wasn't snarky NOR "pointy". The article does not mention anywhere that this variety is carried.
- Not played by "foot" except when kicking a field goal. What about that is snarky?
If you put the ball on the ground to play by foot (at the wrong time). it is considered a fumble and you lose possession of the ball. That is pertinent to how to play the game. CaribDigita (talk) 00:10, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- My apologies. It looked like the typical snarky comments about how it should be called "handball". You should bring up the point on the talk page, and something can be worked out. BilCat (talk) 00:59, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- I was not aware of that discussion. My edit came about because I literally was talking to a friend from Ethiopia in Eastern Africa who did not know how the game was played. He literally pulled up Wikipedia and was like see it says nothing about playing by hand / a fumble. And he legit thought I was having a wind-up with him about how the game is actually played. CaribDigita (talk) CaribDigita (talk) 01:05, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- No problem. It does need to be addressed, but I think some discussion about how to word it needs to be done first. BilCat (talk) 01:23, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- I thank you for inadvertently letting me know that American Football is contentious topic, and to keep far from it. Seeing that it is a hot potato I'm keeping far from that I'm not married to the topic. CaribDigita (talk) 02:57, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- No problem. I'll raise the issue myself if so can't figure out how to reword it. You're right that it needs to be made more clear to those who aren't familiar with the game. Btw, the first football code I ever played on a school playground was soccer in Jamaica, with large rocks for the goals. It took me a while to figure out American football, and there are still things about it I don't get, though I love to watch it, not soccer. BilCat (talk) 04:31, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- Oh, wow. Not bad! I have friends from Ja'. Also have a cousin - she's married to a guy from Jam-rock.
- American Football, what can I say? It seems to have a lot that is 'assumed' that people would know. But unless you've had someone walk you through it and learn the hard-way it has a learning curve. I remember playing it, and feeing like I understood the rules and the ball kept getting taken away from me because something I assumed was correct, and looked seemingly like what everyone else was doing, the group was always saying 'nope- I did that wrong so I gotta turn over the ball.' So I feel like I can relate when my friend had the same argument because even the rules on that article didn't spell it out. Ofcourse subsequently since then I've had a friend who is an avid watcher explain it answer questions for me. CaribDigita (talk) 14:39, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

editPlease leave an edit summary when removing WikiProject banner
editHi, I noticed you recently edited the page Talk:Kaspersky Lab without leaving an edit summary to explain you changes, which including removing a WikiProject banner. According to WP:PROJSCOPE WikiProjects determine which articles are within their scope, so removing a banner ought to be discussed with the project team, or at least explained in an edit summary. Especially, when your edit immediately follows someone else reassessing the banners in question. Editing without leaving an edit summary is poor etiquette and a bad practice.
