Bot newsletter delivery

CC to MZMcBride.

As an operator of a newsletter-delivery bot, you may be interested in my post here. On a side note, I am also looking for a bot that would deliver newsletters for WikiProject Sociology; could your bot help us? PS. If you know any other newsletter-bot operators, could you inform them of this discussion? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 14:23, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

It looks like MZMcBride's helping you with this. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 01:43, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

BrownBot spam request

Hey, can we do talk page messages to everyone in the cat/subcat Wikipedians in the San Francisco Bay Area, or do you need a handmade list? Either way I'll put a message up soon. Steven Walling at work 19:59, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, a category works too. Feel free to send me the message here or by e-mail (e-mail's probably easiest). Cbrown1023 talk 01:58, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Okay, will email you with the message today. That category should work for delivery. Steven Walling at work 17:27, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Article on US Flag

The article on the US flag begins: The national flag of the United States of America (the "American flag") consists of thirteen equal horizontal stripes of red (top and bottom) alternating with white...

In what way are the stripes equal? Certainly not in length, as the wording might imply.

I'm not sure, you should bring this up on the article's talk page. Cbrown1023 talk 20:42, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

I want to report an obscene link to an Admin because it is on a page which has medical info. When I click on the link,it brings you to a webcam page with women in Germany(I think).I was going to delete it myself, however I do not want to sign up for all the stuff just to accomplish it.If you search for sciatica,2 pages appear for wiki.On the one which I viewed,It is the one which at the bottom of the wiki google does not show the (_nerve) part, under the references at the bottom, number 9,the 1st link was the bad one.My name is Greg McCarthy.I am at gmccarthy86@hotmail.com I am also providing the link, but I know many people are leary about links,so either way you can easily find it. Wikimania 2012 bid, DC chapter & next meetup!

  1. At WikiXDC in January, User:Harej proposed that DC submit a bid to host Wikimania 2012. A bid and organizing committee is being formed and seeks additional volunteers to help. Please look at our bid page and sign up if you want to help out. You can also signup for the bid team's email list.
  2. To support the Wikimania bid, more events like WikiXDC, and outreach activities like collaborations with the Smithsonian (ongoing) and National Archives, there also has been discussion of forming Wikimedia DC, as an official Wikimedia chapter. You can express interest and contribute to chapter discussions on the Wikimedia DC Meta-Wiki pages.
  3. To discuss all this and meet up with special guest, Dutch Wikipedian User:Kim Bruning, there will be a meetup, Wikipedia:Meetup/DC 16 this Tuesday at 7pm, at Capitol City Brewery, Metro Center. There will be a pre-meetup Wikimania team meeting at 6pm at the same location.

Apologies for the short notice for this meetup, but let's discuss when, where & what for DC Meetup #17. Also, if you haven't yet, please join wikimedia-dc mailing list to stay informed. Cheers, User:Aude (talk)

IRC chat

Hello, there is an upcoming, very informal discussion on IRC on the freenode channel ##chzzalpha connect (quick webchat link) on the 6th March 2011 at 17:00 UTC concerning ways to improve help over IRC, and other matters relating to Wiki?edia channels in general, but mostly about #wikipedia-en-help.

This is just a friendly, informal chat. Nothing official, no fixed agenda. There is nothing 'secretive' about it - anyone is quite welcome. Some of you had a chat there, the other day. We wanted to invite them to carry on discussions, at a prearranged time - and thought it courteous to ask group contacts and channel founders too. Or if you signed up manually.

If you aren't at all interested, feel free to remove yourself from the names we've spammed this to, which is in User:123Hedgehog456/IRC informal chat users. If you didn't sign up, well, people have been adding loads of names to the list, so someone might have accidentally added your name.

Thank you,  Chzz  ►  and 123Hedgehog456 19:49, 15 February 2011 (UTC).

Message made by Chzz, with help from 123Hedgehog456.

Why did CallWeaver and OpenPBX pages were deleted?

Hi! I am sorry touching such an old question. I am a freelance programmer and was just looking arbitrary information about some old stuff while suddenly found that the articles about CallWeaver and OpenPBX were deleted. Trying to deduce the reason, I was failed. Since I found you as some of the authors of the deletion I am kindly asking you to explain me please in simple words: what is the reason of deletion? Were the creators of CallWeaver found to be a gangsters? But why not to just write this? We have an article abot Cosa Nostra for example... Or CallWeaver project found to be failed? Again: why not to write this? Some information is better than none... So, I wish to have some any explanation... Thnaks in advance... Dims (talk) 16:51, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Hello Dims. CallWeaver was deleted because of a deletion discussion (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/CallWeaver). OpenPBX was deleted with the proposed deletion process because "This 'disambiguation' page references only articles that have been deleted for non-notability reasons, although CallWeaver is IMO definitely notable, there is no appropriate article on it, a disambiguation is unwarranted at this time." Both were deleted a few years ago, so you should feel free to create new articles if you can address the concerns brought up in the deletion processes. Cbrown1023 talk 22:50, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

You're invited to the New York Wiknic!

You could be having this much fun! Seriously, consider coming.

This message is being sent to inform you of a Wikipedia picnic that is being held in your area next Saturday, June 25. From 1 to 8 PM or any time in between, join your fellow volunteers for a get together at Norman's Landscape (directions) in Manhattan's Central Park.

Take along your friends (newbies permitted), your family and other free culture enthusiasts! You may also want to pack a blanket, some water or perhaps even a frisbee.

If you can, share what you're bringing at the discussion page.

Also, please remember that this is the picnic that anyone can edit so bring enough food to share!
