Commons picture
You just edited a picture I uploaded to commons. Is there something else I need to do. I am new to filling up the details of the picture. Can you assist me in filling up any relevant information required? Thanks. Healagain (talk) 05:31, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
- Have you already seen commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:HealthyChild IndiaCampaign.jpg?--Chaser (talk) 05:35, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
I took a look at it. Does that mean it will get deleted from commons and remain on English Wiki as you have done? Also how does one send an email confirmation? Healagain (talk) 04:14, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, it will remain on the English Wikipedia as fair use. An email confirmation is not necessary for fair use, but there are instructions at commons:Commons:OTRS.--Chaser (talk) 04:20, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your time. Healagain (talk) 02:59, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
usurpation in ru.wiki
Now you can use SUL and take this account in ru.wiki. If you meet any problem - contact me Rubin16 (talk) 12:36, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- I've renamed ChaserWP to Chaser. I thought you didn't need rename: you have SUL "Chaser", there was no such account in ru.wiki and you could just enter ru.wiki using your login\password and account "Chaser" in ru.wiki would be created Rubin16 (talk) 17:24, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Source Code Poster.Jpeg
Thanks for uploading File:Source Code Poster.Jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:37, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Done :) I hope You will use it for graphics. --Pablo000 (talk) 16:29, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
RE: Painting of Rafael Cordero Santiago
Hi, per your note on this page, I posted my reply on my page HERE, but maybe you expected it here since you haven't replied for several days. So here was my reply:
"That photographic image is wonderful. How did you find it??? It shows that Churumba was a "fighter." He is credited with forcing the descentralization of the state government in PR via court battles that resulted in the Law of Autonomous Municipalities and the yielding of power from the central government to the municipalities. Until then, the municipalities had been nothing else than mere agents of the central government to carry on its functions rather than executors of the will of its local constituencies. Thus, for example, the Representative from Ponce in the State Legislature had more power than the Mayor of Ponce.
"As such I think we should use that new image in the body of the article to portray that fighter quality of Churumba. However, how do we know that photo is not copywrited? Either way, and in any event, I would still use the image photo of the painting of Churumba in the infobox. It makes the article more presentable (because it is a portrait) than the photo (not a portrait). Of course, I would use it only as permitted by fair use gidelines. Mercy11 (talk) 17:00, 13 January 2011 (UTC)"

Monte Lipman photo
Sorry about the flickrwashing issue; I am new to Wikipedia and am just now learning about shared media and rights on wikipedia. I've contacted John Piccard, the photographer, and he has agreed to publish and license the photo himself on flickr. I will use that version once the photographer makes it available. ----Bug Ung — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bug ung (talk • contribs) 21:50, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
SUL
Hello, Chaser! I usurped ja:User:Chaser as per your request. Cheers! --Kanjy (talk) 11:11, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi!
Hey, I just noticed your comment here; it was made using a fractal flame editor and some post-processing colour effects. I do some graphics design to support myself - that's a leftover from a project.
Phew, I think I win the record for late reply! And thanks for the compliment! Cheers, m.o.p 02:59, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

ITN candidate entry
Hi. Although it's at the bottom of the list, is there any chance that the blizzard entry could be posted given that the article is improved to a reasonable level in time? It appears to be more recent than Cyclone Yasi. I am currently working on integrating more information about Canadian impact into the article, so it should be "ready" soon. Thanks. ~AH1(TCU) 03:23, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- I think it's too late. There's only one February 2 blurb left to bump and we don't even have a sample blurb for this. Sorry.--Chaser (talk) 05:11, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Wikipedia Ambassador Program
Hi! Since you've been identified as an Awesome Wikipedian, I wanted to let you know about the Wikipedia Ambassador Program, and specifically the role of Online Ambassador. We're looking for friendly Wikipedians who are good at reviewing articles and giving feedback to serve as mentors for students who are assigned to write for Wikipedia in their classes.
If you're interested, I encourage you to take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors during the current term, which started in January and goes through early May. If that's something you want to do, please apply!
You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE.
I hope to hear from you soon.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 19:25, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

Yes, we do rely currently on that donation, as you can also see here. I'd go with it. --Elitre (talk) 23:17, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- OK. Thank you.--Chaser (talk) 23:47, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
I see that you recently changed the portrait of Mubarak on T:ITN on the Main Page. If I'm not mistaken, File:Hosni Mubarak ritratto.jpg is not protected. So we won't have Δ (talk · contribs) railing on WP:AN again, could you protect the image or find someone on Commons to do it? If I am mistaken and the image cannot be vandalized, just ignore this message—I'm not very knowledgeable about protection and images. Goodvac (talk) 23:55, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- We're OK. It's a cropped version on the main page. And it is still protected. Thanks for being on the lookout for this.--Chaser (talk) 00:01, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
Deletion review for CardHub.com
An editor has asked for a deletion review of CardHub.com. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Sarabas (talk) 19:00, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
- I never really go on vacation from Wikipedia. But anyway, you're getting the right feedback from the deletion review.--Chaser (away) - talk 00:22, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Re:Neelix RfA
My apologies. If you feel it would be constructive to remove the comment and continue the discussion, I'm happy for you to do so; if challenged for doing that, feel free to cite this diff. Regards, —WFC— 10:03, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your support!
Hi Chaser,
Thank you for doing so much to ensure that my RfA was successful. You went beyond a support comment and countered the opposes; I really appreciate your help.
Happy editing,
Thank you (ITN)
Thank-you for this edit. That is exactly the sort of generic news blurb that won't need constant updating that I was looking for. Carcharoth (talk) 07:23, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- You're welcome. I'm still a bit confused why you didn't just do this yourself. You're an admin.--Chaser (talk) 19:38, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

"lockstep"
Hi. I noticed that at Angers Bridge, you wrote that the collapse was caused by soldiers marching in lockstep. Did you mean lockstep in the original sense, where prisoners marched with each one's hand on the shoulder of the man in front of him, so close that each one's front foot was next to another man's back foot? If so, it could use a citation for this unusual practice for soldiers (though the OED has a quotation suggesting that French soldiers practiced it). I see there's a new sense, just "in step", moving the same leg at the same time, as in this picture. If that's what you meant, it's not in dictionaries and I'm not sure it's encyclopedic English yet.
The first citation I could find at Google Books for "'Angers Bridge' lockstep" was from 2006, which I think is recent enough for it to be the "in step" sense. —JerryFriedman (Talk) 19:34, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- I meant "in step", as I was unaware of the other meaning. Use whatever language you feel is appropriate.--Chaser (talk) 19:36, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. (That was fast for someone on a break!) Actually, the article may need some revision, as the .fr article says the claim that the soldiers were marching in step was doubtful, as there was a standing order for soldiers to break step while crossing a bridge. The other version of the story is that the bridge collapsed because of rust, a storm, and the soldiers' attempts to go from one side to the other to stop it from swaying. There seems to be some confusion, though—one source for the French article doesn't say what the article says. I'll try to look into this. Do you read French? —JerryFriedman (Talk) 19:48, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Hello. You have a new message at Eraserhead1's talk page.
You may be able to help
Not sure if you'll have the time since your page says you're on a wikibreak but since you seem active perhaps you can help with Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Any admins fluent in Italian? Nil Einne (talk) 17:12, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Reverted you
On ITN. You forgot about Larissa Latynina when you made that edit; she won 3 more medals than Andrianov. Courcelles 04:24, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for catching that.--Chaser (talk) 04:26, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
- You're not the only one to forget about Latynina- I can't remember how many times I wanted to (and sometimes did) talk back to the TV during Beijing when they talked about Phelps being the most successful Olympian. *Mutters to self* About time I got busy and actually rewrote Latynina's article... there have to be sources out there somewhere. Good day. Courcelles 04:32, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you!

Question
Could you please explain to me why I do not have "clean hands" and what exactly did I do wrong? Thanks.--Mbz1 (talk) 20:04, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
- Yes. You and Passionless recently had a conflict here. You then commented in this discussion. Commenting there was fine, and I do not assume that you were following Passionless. However, the way you commented was not OK. You singled out one person in the discussion ("What user:passionless says is simply false") instead of only commenting on the issues (for example, "These types of attacks do not happen every day"). In doing so, you commented on the person, not on the content under discussion. I don't care what your intentions were. Your actions and Passionless's actions have the effect of continuing the conflict between you. Clear?
- You've contributed a lot of excellent photos to Wikipedia. I don't want to block you. But content on the Israeli Palestinian conflict seems to be a hot-button issue for you. Please don't leave me with no choice.--Chaser (talk) 20:31, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking the time to respond. I respectfully disagree on a few points.
- First of all I do not believe this report could be called "a conflict". Is every edit warring report is a "conflict" in your opinion?
- In my vote supporting the article for the news, I had do explain why I support, and why the oppose vote was false, so I did. I will go ahead and strike out mentioning of user passionless, but there's no a way my vote could be even remotely compared to what user:passionless has done. So may I please ask you do not make such unfair, unwarranted compressions in the feature? Regards.--Mbz1 (talk) 20:41, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
- You mean comparisons. See below.--Chaser (talk) 22:12, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- BTW I contributed not only photos. I also contributed more that 70 articles from which maybe 5% are somehow related to I/P conflict. I wrote such articles as The Mountain of Israeli-Palestinian Friendship;Sayyida al Hurra;Liar paradox in early Islamic tradition;Comedians of Middle East conflict;Arab rescue efforts during the Holocaust. So as I hope you'd see I have no any bias against Arabs and or Muslims. Regards.--Mbz1 (talk) 21:13, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
- I never said you did.--Chaser (talk) 22:12, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- I'm going to be honest with you Chaser, when I saw MBiz's note that he wouldn't take it to ANI, I thought he was warning somebody not to take her to ANI, and that got my curiosity up. I looked at all of the edits in this thread, while I disagree with Mbiz's taking passionless to 3RR (passionless, IMO, didn't even violate 1RR, let alone 3RR), I see nothing in Mbiz's response on ITN or elsewhere to warrant the responses or warnings that you've given her. Oh, I should mention that I have Mbiz's page on my watchlist because of a conflict Mbiz and I had about a month ago.---Balloonman NO! I'm Spartacus! 22:51, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
- That's fine. You're certainly entitled to your opinion (I assume you saw the difference between the current version and the original context). I still disagree, and I'm not alone. Look, we've got an entire ArbCom-sponsored regime of reduced tolerance in this area. We spend a lot of resources on policing disputes, and a disproportionate amount of administrative time goes to disputes in this one area. My solution was to act aggressively to stem a brewing fight on ITNC before it got out of control. You may have handled the situation differently, and you'd have been within the bounds of discretion to not respond the way I did (or at all). But I think I was also well within the bounds of admin discretion.
- Mbz1 seems to suggest above that I have been comparing her actions to Passionless's and equating the two. I'm not doing that. I'm not interested in doing that. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that one was more disruptive than the other, treating them both the same might not have been fair. Tough. Life isn't fair. If I'd evaluated each according to some abstract scale (e.g., level two disruption versus level five disruption), then I'm sure someone would have felt treated unfairly. The precipitating dialog on ITN/C was bad on both their parts. They both were either personalizing or escalating a prior dispute (I'm talking about the underlying content dispute, not so much the report to the 3RR noticeboard). I don't care who was the worst actor. I'm not going to spend a lot of time comparing the two when I know that they were both disruptive. Pragmatically, I decided to treat them both the same. This may not have been the perfect way to handle it, but it got them both to stop bickering on WP:ITNC and it started a productive dialog here. That's been a good thing.--Chaser (talk) 22:12, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
