Some P:CE/S issues...
Hi Craig..
You probably noticed that I was absent the last 2 days... but it seems the portal is being cared for quite well...
I may be out of here for another few days, so I just want to point your attention to some things...
- It's the last day of September... in fact, in the entire eastern hemishere it'a allredy October... that means it's time to archive the ols month... it seems Sep is another monstrous one... I guess over 300K... all these b'ball and v'ball championships must have contributed to that, but luckily they're all over after this weekend...
- Speeking of which... v'ball continental champ'ships also act as qualifyers for the World Cup, which in turn are Olympic qualifyers... so I noticed that the qualifyers were not mentioned for the 2 champ'ships just concluded... IIRC, there should be 3 qualifyers from these champ'ships - both champions plus the better ranked of thr rumnners-up... the same should be done for the last championships due to concude on Sunday (IIRC)... and then we have just a week's rest before the clubs world cup begin...
- In b'ball, the championships are Olympic qualifiers - either directly or via the World Qualifying Tournament.... IIRC, the last champ'ships also conclude this weekend... and then national teams take a long break in favour of club competitions...
- last note I think... there's another junior WC in figure skating this weekend, I think it's either #4 or 5 of the series... note that there's also the series standing after each comp...
Take care...
Nitsan
Re:Some P:CE/S issues...
Definitely think I've spent most of the last few days moaning at somebody on the portal! Haha! That said, I have been updating it at some inopportune hours, so not so great on my part! I'll definitely have a look at the qualifying methods, and probably update it at a better hour...3am edits are usually a bit rare for me! Cs-wolves(talk) 01:42, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- 3AM for me is not unusual... the deal is quite simple... check out for previous championships earlier this month... you would find a line like this: team X qualify for tournament Y, in which X is the name of the nation, and Y is the name of tournament, with link to the article of that tournament... on that article you should find the qualifying rules and the list of qualifyers, which by now is nearly complete... IIRC there are only 2 champ'ships in B'ball and the same in V'ball that are still going on and due to be completed this weekend... I trust your wisdom that you would understand how to fill the blanks then... I loooked briefly at the last two days while I was "missing" and found that 2 V'ball tourneys have concluded on these days (both Thursday IIRC) and currently these are the only events in question...
As for figure skating, also look at the events earlier this month and see the format... on each week there are 3 or 4 competitions divided between 2 days, Friday and Saturday (this was rhe format so far). There will be a total of 7 events in this series, and the current one is #5 IIRC. The top 8 in each discipline qualify to the final that will take place in early December. Please note that in the pairs discipline there are only 4 events, that's why some events have 3 competitions and some 4. Also note that skaters are only allowed to participate in 2 events during this series, so the standings line should read like this: Standings after 5 of 7 events: A (name) X points from 2 events or B Y (1). It's a bit confusing but that's the rules in this sport... as usual, look for examples in previous weeks. You should find links to both weekly results and standings on the article of the junior grand prix series 2011 (please note that this is the JUNIOR GP and it will be followed by the Grand Prix series for senior skaters). The Finals of both series take place on the same site and there's one article for both.--Nitsansh (talk) 09:15, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- You are a good student... :)
- Do you want to learn how to update the right column as well?--Nitsansh (talk) 03:09, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- You are a good student... :)
- I seem to remember a chat about that right column; I've just neglected it sadly. Cs-wolves(talk) 05:13, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- I did only the "ongoing events" section sometimes during the night after a break of 3 days.. but the "upcoming" section is updated only until Oct 1st, so the dates of Oct 2-4 should be deleted... also the dates of Oct 30 (I think) till Nov 2nd should be unvieled by moving the <!-- at the start of the respecting lines to the next line.--Nitsansh (talk) 05:30, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
2011 Pan American Games
Hi, is this event eligible for the portal:current sports events? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 20:36, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you, I think it is appropriate because it is the second largest multi sporting event after the Olympics. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 20:55, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yea, I left a message on the talk page can you please respond there as well. Thanks. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 21:01, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
- I think so. Although we lack consistency regarding multi-event Games. Last year we did the 2010 Commonwealth Games, but I think we ignored the 2010 Asian Games (I might be wrong though)... this year we did the 2011 Summer Universiade, which also claims to be the second largest multi-sport events, but not the 2011 All-Africa Games. I think there should be a similar policy towards all these, I won't correct the past... As far as Pan American is concerned, I think in terms of size it's behind the Asian Games, but anyway, with strong nations like United States, Canada, Cuba, Brazil etc. it seems more notable, in particular for English speakers (the Commonwealth are also notable for the same reason). It should be noted also that Pan-Ams double up as Olympic qualifyers in many sports, so nations send their best athletes. For all these reasons, I vote in favour, but we should make some constant guiding rules to deal with such events. In fact, we should have guiding rules for all other events, so we can refer to them in cases of doubt.--Nitsansh (talk) 13:19, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

P:CE/S tutorial continues...
I just added a new feature that (hopefully) should be helpfull for editors. <!--end of season--> and <!--next season begin-->. The former should be placed after the last event of a season or a series, and indicates that no further events should be searched for in the current season. The latter indicates the beginning date of the next season, and means that the next events should be searched for in the next season. Usually, there is an off-season of at least a month between seasons (there are exceptions, though). Similar remarks are also usefull in the "current seasons" section, which should be edited at the beginning and end of seasons (did anyone do that recently for rugby league and OZ football?)--Nitsansh (talk) 14:26, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- PS: Dale has a habit that when a season ends, he puts a remark that reads: "(year(s)) season ended (date)", and changes the year(s) in the article's name to the next one. That helps editors who make the end-of-month archiving, as seasons that ended during the last month should be included in the "month in sports" article, and otherwise they might be forgotten.--Nitsansh (talk) 14:38, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- ETA: But make sure to change back to the right year(s) in the "month in sports" article.--Nitsansh (talk) 14:41, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Also, a helpfull practice is to add the dates till the end of the month (invisible of course) and put events in advance, if you have spare time...--Nitsansh (talk) 14:38, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- PS: I just realized that helpful and hopeful etc. are spelled with one L... hope to remember that next time...--Nitsansh (talk) 14:44, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Also, a helpfull practice is to add the dates till the end of the month (invisible of course) and put events in advance, if you have spare time...--Nitsansh (talk) 14:38, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

P:CE/S notes
- Athletics: Standings of WMM is missing (there's one event remaining this year and the titles may have already been decided).
- Baseball: There's no indication of qualifyers to the next stage.
- Gymnastics/fencing: Look out for final events from tommorrow onwards (in gymnastics for sure, in fencing possibly only on Wednesday)
- Speaking of gymnastics: Our ace Alex Shatilov has qualified to the men's all-around final and (as usual) to the men's floor, where he has high hopes for a medal (he has won bronze in 2009 and was 4th last year), which will make him the first Israeli to win a world championships medal in Olympic event this year and the 6th Israeli to qualify for London 2012 (though for about a dozen more qualification is considered a mere formality).--Nitsansh (talk) 00:31, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Assistance with a truck team
Hi I've probably been one of the few people on here to update the teams/drivers per the entry lists. But there's a weird issue. You see, originally I had Jennifer Jo Cobb and Chase Mattioli listed as separate teams, but then i put them all under the #10 team since Chase's team was using Jen's owners points. Now, it looks as though T3R (formerly Fast Track Racing) has taken over Chase's operation, with the #99 team, and Jen's switched to Dodge. I know this is extremely confusing but I was wondering how I should handle this. Should I just lump all 3 together in 1, or do I just split them up by teams.Gaeaman787 (talk) 10:37, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Sheltra's entered in the 99 Ford with Cal Boprey as crew chief, and Charlie Vest is in the 09 with Aj Genali. And I think the Silas family is running their own truck under the T3R name. They might be running the 09 only and the 99. I put JJCR and CMR together because Mattioli's team used Cobb's truck number and owners points to lock themselves in, then they teamed up for Nashville, and then Chase probably handed his team over to the Silases. There's also the wackiness surrounding KBM, Vision, and Billy Ballew. Vision started out the season running like 6 races I remember. Then somewhere down the line Busch took over the 51 and Ballew got the 15 back to run Colin Braun. I wasn't really sure who else to contact about this matter. I'm thinking of just splitting it up...somehow. Have JJCR up top as having run the 0 (the s&p with Wayne Edwards) and 10. Doing JJCR/CMR with them running the 0, 10, and 99. I'll probably do 2 rows with T3R with them running the 09 and 99. This is so complicatedGaeaman787 (talk) 17:33, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Article of the month – Darlington Record Club
The Unocal-Darlington Record Club was a club in the NASCAR Grand National and Winston Cup Series from 1959 to about 2001, based at Darlington Raceway. Membership was achieved based on setting qualifying records during time trials for the annual Southern 500 held on Labor Day weekend. During its heyday, it was considered one of the most prestigious and exclusive clubs in motorsports. The club was sponsored by longtime NASCAR sponsor Unocal/Union 76. Previously it was sponsored by Pure Oil. At some time after the 2001 season, the club was quietly retired. The club ended permanently when Unocal left the sport in 2003, and the Southern 500 was removed from the schedule after 2004.The original eight charter members were selected in 1959: Dick Joslin (Dodge), Marvin Panch (Ford), Joe Caspolich (Oldsmobile), Bob Burdick (Thuderbird), Speedy Thompson (Chevrolet), Richard Petty (Plymouth), Elmo Langley (Buick), and Fireball Roberts (Pontiac). Roberts was selected as the first president; Former Darlington Raceway president Bob Colvin contributed in creating the club. Article of the month – 2011 Italian Grand Prix
The 2011 Italian Grand Prix, formally known as the 2011 Gran Premio Santander d'Italia was a Formula One motor race that was held on 11 September 2011 at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Italy. It was the thirteenth round of the 2011 Formula One season, and the sixtieth time the Italian Grand Prix had been held at Monza. The race, contested over 53 laps, was won by Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel, the drivers' championship leader, after starting from pole position. Jenson Button finished in second place for McLaren, and Fernando Alonso completed the podium in third position for Ferrari. As a consequence of the race, Vettel extended his lead in the World Drivers' Championship to 112 points over Alonso, who moved up to second place in the championship. Button moved into third place in the championship, five points behind Alonso, and level on points with fourth-placed Mark Webber, but ahead on countback. In the World Constructors' Championship, Red Bull's championship lead was cut by McLaren to 126 points, with Ferrari a further 71 points behind in third position. World Rally Championship season
Hi! You have reverted my changes to World Rally Championship season articles relating to the Rally of Turkey. Isn't better to have wikilinks to the appropriate season's articles instead of links to more general articles as they were before? Think about it once more. I guess the reader would have more information if it is directly linked to that season's race. Cheers. CeeGee (talk) 20:32, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

P:CE/S stuff...
- Could you indicate the qualifyers for the final in figure skating GP? There's one event remaining so several skaters in each discipline should be secured... usually the cut is 26 or 24 points. Take note of the tie break rules and skaters with one event remaining...
- Do you have a clue how it was possible that Chinese gymnasts were in the top four places in trampoline men's qualifying but Japan won the team title? Isn't that a mistake?
- Are there no results yet from day 1 of the Asia-Pacific Curling champ'ships? they must have finished many hours ago..

Article of the month – 2010 Ford 400, a Good Article
The 2010 Ford 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on November 21, 2010 at Homestead Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. The 267 lap race was the thirty-sixth in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the final race in the ten-race Chase for the Sprint Cup, which ends the season. The race was won by Carl Edwards for the Roush Fenway Racing team. Jimmie Johnson finished second, and Kevin Harvick clinched third. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead on the first lap of the race. Edwards started in the second position on the grid, and became the leader of the race on the fourth lap. Shortly after a restart on lap 22, championship leader Denny Hamlin spun sideways, resulting with damage to his splitter. Martin Truex, Jr. took the lead on lap 73, but after the final pit stops Edwards was first. He maintained the lead to win the race, having led it for 192 laps. A total of 67,000 people attended the race, while 5.605 million watched it on television. There were ten cautions in the race, as well as twenty-five lead changes among nine different drivers. Edwards' victory was his second win in the 2010 season, with the first coming the previous week at the Kobalt Tools 500. Jimmie Johnson won the Drivers' Championship, 39 points ahead of Denny Hamlin. Johnson's team owner Rick Hendrick won the Owners' Championship. Chevrolet won the Manufacturer Championship with 261 points, 44 points ahead of Toyota. What's "journalese"?
Why are you taking away information which explains things better? And what does "journalese" mean? Formion (talk) 02:27, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Journalese - "A hackneyed style of writing supposedly characteristic of newspapers and magazines." Which your previous addition was a common case of. Unsuitable for use on Wikipedia. More suitable for a magazine article. "The fact that both used Renault engines didn't help when trying to come up with easy, short names to distinguish them." That's personal opinion, verging on journalistic. Simple as that. Craig(talk) 02:30, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Well, why don't you rephrase it then? Instead of just doing away with it. Or is this information irrelevant? I think it is a fact, people have had a hard time knowing what to call these two teams this season. Formion (talk) 02:35, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Because it is unnecessary; it may be a fact, but nobody needs to know which colour each car is, or how hard it is to differentiate a name. The FIA did that...one is a Lotus, and one is a Renault...that's what the constructor names are there for. Also, I don't respond on my own page, so don't move it there. Craig(talk) 02:39, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- I don't respond on my page when the discussion started here, so don't try to make things so difficult. If you respond on my page again, I won't take any notice of what you're saying. I don't think it is unnecessary to point out that both teams acctually was called Lotus-Renault. Both are Lotuses and both have Renault engines. Then many people call the black team Renault just because it used to be the Renault factory team, but that's not really right, is it? Formion (talk) 02:46, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- No, both aren't Lotuses. The Renault team are sponsored by Lotus Cars, which gives the Lotus Renault GP moniker. But, it is still a Renault car with a Renault engine. Team Lotus have the rights to the name from Group Lotus and thus are Lotus cars with Renault engines. Hence why the constructor names make a difference. Craig(talk) 02:49, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
Gotta tell you
I'm starting to feel a bit like Mike Portnoy writing the Twelve-step Suite, with regards to the cycling season articles. Paraphrasing our article: I've "dug [myself] into a hole with it. ... After a while it became like an obligation hanging over my head, like a homework assignment"
I've got six done. And there's still fourteen to go (and that's not counting the three I've done nothing with). I'm a) not sure I really have it in me to complete them all, and b) not sure I have the time. I have been grossly neglecting my other commitments to focus on this, feeling like I'd go back to them when it was done. But I'm not even a third of the way finished.
Do you think you could write the prose for any of them? Even if it's just to write something to which I might eventually add, like the BMC Giro section. You seem to be the only other person who gives a damn about these articles, so I'd love to know. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 21:47, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
US football
Hi Craig -- Now that Falcadore apparently doesn't care about the sports events page, should we go back to posting NFL scores? Thanks -- Mwalcoff (talk) 23:18, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- I think if we limit it to simple scores with occasional short notes, it will be fine... I agree the page is way too long, but I think given the brevity of the football season, the resulting importance of each individual game and the dominance of football in the American sports world nowadays, I think the football games count as among the events most readers will be interested in. It's a matter of selfishness on my part, I guess -- I'd like to have a page with both NFL scores and the big news in "world sports" such as the UEFA Champions League and Rugby World Cup on the same place with links to the seasons. I think we can live without some of the obscure stuff, like the African Women's Champions League or whatever. -- Mwalcoff (talk) 02:19, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
Day of first race OK with you.... expires 12:00, 15 April 2012 (UTC). Let me know if F1 goes same way... Ronhjones (Talk) 20:17, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Irritating
I wonder if it has occurred to you that if you use a particularly editor's contribution history as a basis for making cosmetic changes to a series of articles on it has the very annoying effect of cluttering up that editor's watch list. Motmit (talk) 18:13, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Rather than start a new section..... a word about the abbr parameter in {{convert}}. The idea behind it is to support version neutral English. Where British English would use 'kilometres' and American English would use 'kilometers,' using neither is generally preferable. But when an article does have strong national ties to a type of English, it's okay to use it. So, for the Team Sky article, you don't need the abbr parameter. It's not necessary, for the same reasons, for BMC, Garmin, HTC, and RadioShack's articles, either, though the sp=us parameter (telling the template to use US spelling) is. So, in the articles for Lampre, Quick Step, Ag2r, whoever...we should use the abbr parameter, since those articles don't call for any particular flavor of English (arguably, they could also therefore use a wholesale copyedit). Make sense? Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 05:49, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
The 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (formally the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix) was the eighteenth and penultimate round of the 2011 Formula One season. It was held on 13 November 2011 at the Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island, a man-made island on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. It was the third running of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. As is customary with the race, it was the only twilight Grand Prix of the 2011 Formula One season, with a start time of 17:00 local time. The race was won by McLaren's Lewis Hamilton. Second was Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, with Jenson Button coming third in the other McLaren. Sebastian Vettel, in a Red Bull-Renault, had been in pole position, but retired after a puncture in the first lap, near the second corner, which was his first retirement since the 2010 Korean Grand Prix, where he encountered a problem, with his engine. As a result, this prevented him from equalling Michael Schumacher's record of 13 wins in one season, but Vettel did equal Nigel Mansell's 1992 record of 14 pole positions in one season. This was also the first race of 2011 in which neither Red Bull finished on the podium, as Vettel's team-mate Mark Webber finished fourth. Questions on columns drivers and stuff/More silly season theories
I know that the 2011 truck series page got quite clustered due to the mixing of full time and part time trucks running. However, for 2012, RCR will be running the #2, #3, and #22. The 2 I assume will be running for the owners championship, and so far Tim George, Jr. (12) Brendan Gaughan (8) and I theorize that someone else will run 2 races. In light of the fact that I don't want the truck series page to look super clustered and confusing, but in the situation where multiple drivers split the same truck, would it be good to place a small tooltip next to either the drivers name or sponsor to denote which races they'll be running instead of making a all new column for which rounds they'll run?
Speaking of Brendan, I read on NASCAR.com that Todd Bodine is looking for a ride in 2012 since Germain shut down. Casey tweeted last week that he'd be back in the #13 Geico (insert manufacturer here) with Bootie. Have you heard anything else on that? Gaeaman787 (talk) 22:52, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
Ok thanks! I'll try that out. I think Germain could announce soon that they'll be doing a full Cup season only with Casey Mears and drop their Truck team. Somehow in my head I have Bodine going to Red Horse's #7 with Mike Hillman, Jr (since RHR has some sponsorship from TBC Retail Group, and Bodine was sponsored by them in 2011.) There's also Ricky Carmichael and Jason White, both of whom have sponsors. I can see Carmichael grabbing the 3rd Eddie Sharp truck (since Turner already has 3 trucks) since he has the Monster sponsorship and probably won't do a full Nationwide schedule. I don't know about White, but since he's not going back to JDM, perhaps Jennifer Jo Cobb's team, or start up a second Truck at Penske?
Yes I know I'm talking silly season stuff here, but there are still rumors that Vickers is going to Nationwide with Turner. My guess is that he'll drive the 32, perhaps with Red Bull on board (he's the adventurous type). Somehow I'm thinking Landon Cassill would be a good fit to fill in the #10 for Stewart Haas since he was quite solid with Phoenix.
Turner said that Kasey would be back in 2012, so I'm guessing the #38 with Great Clips, but with a reduced schedule to like 7 or 8 races. I'm thinking that Blake Koch will land at Means Hamilton since he does have Daystar sponsorship (I think) and the new team has Crusader Staffing as a sponsor.
But that's just what I'm thinkingGaeaman787 (talk) 00:32, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
I'm done
I'll give you this, if you want it. If you don't, just get rid of it.

I know I said I wanted to do another five or six articles, but I can't. I am too burned out. It's time for me to walk away.
I have complete confidence in your ability to write the articles I would like to see written. Your work on the three done so far is downright exemplary, so even if it takes a while, I know the others will be up to that same snuff. I would have liked to see this through to the end, and I do offer my apologies in advance if you have any trouble with the articles as I have them prepped, but I just can't do it anymore. It's too mentally, maybe even emotionally, taxing, and I have other things that I need to do that don't feel like I need to do them, if that makes any sense at all. We are all volunteers here, and this is my time to bow out.
I'm going to leave my status as semi-retired because it's not impossible that the Giro and/or the Tour may draw me back, particularly as that's five and seven months from now, but for all intents and purposes, I'm done.
Thank you so much for your help these last couple of months. I'm truly grateful, and even if I had stuck around, this little project never would have been possible without it. So again, thanks.
All right, one last nag: don't be gunshy taking these articles to GAC or even FAC (Garmin, at least, seems a possible FA candidate)! Get WP:CYC the credit it deserves! And you or someone will have to take on my New Year paroxysm of activity in updating team, rider, and (maybe?) season pages to show updated rosters – that is, after all, the whole point behind the transfers page.
Take care and all the best,

ndash, Wikisource and DNB
I am doing further cleanup on a number of articles that were created as a "bot lot". I see that you have got to some of them first eg this edit to William Dunlop (1692–1720). You need to be more careful when editing these type of articles because the DNB articles on Wikisource use hyphen not ndash between years in dab of article titles. So in that particular edit all but the first change broke links to the sister project. I suggest that you do not change hyphens to dashes inside templates that contain URLs to pages external to en.wikipedia (just as I presume you would not do so to strings that started http://...) -- PBS (talk) 01:20, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
Bare links
Hey, I've gotten better with bare links of late. I noticed you adjusted a few on the article about the race where Dan Wheldon died, about twnety minutes after I edited them in. I actually spent those twenty minutes looking for some kind of template for the last link, because I've never done one that was a PDF file before. When I finally found it, I got an edit conflict because you'd beaten me to it.
Just so you know, my usual way of doing things is to edit information in with bare links to get it onto the page. Then I go back and expand the links out to proper references. I like to think that my writing style is well-suited to an encyclopaedia, but I've seen plenty of instances in the past where false or poorly-written information is added. I know Wikipedia is not a race or a news site and that I have no personal claim to anything I edit in, but the point is that I like to get the information up and added as best I can before doubling back to do references. Darts in P:CE/S
Hi Craig and happy christmas!
Do you think we should have all World Championship scores in the portal, starting from preliminary round?? Was that the practice in such previous events?--Nitsansh (talk) 03:55, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not familiar with darts championships vocabulary... is preliminary round an equivalent to qualifying in tennis, for example, or considered part of the tournament proper? Anyway, I doubt that even the first round, which is the round of 64 (similar to second round in grand-slams), should be reported in full... and I'm not even discussing the importance of a sport which is hardly spread outside the UK...--Nitsansh (talk) 13:16, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2011 Subway Fresh Fit 500, a newly promoted Good Article
The 2011 Subway Fresh Fit 500 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on February 27, 2011 at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona. Contested over 312 laps, it was the second race of the 2011 season and was won by Jeff Gordon for Hendrick Motorsports from Kyle Busch in second and Jimmie Johnson third. Carl Edwards led the first lap from pole position ahead of Kurt Busch who started second on the grid. The race was caution free until lap 29 (debris), and then 48 laps later a multiple crash occurred involving 13 drivers. Later there were several lead changes, and another four cautions. With nine laps remaining, Gordon took the lead from Kyle Busch to win his first race of the season, his first in more than 60 races. There were eight cautions and 29 lead changes among 12 different drivers during the race. Gordon's win moved him to sixth position in the drivers' championship, 15 points behind leader Kyle Busch and one ahead of Bobby Labonte in seventh. In the Manufacturers' Championship, Toyota, Ford and Chevrolet had 12 points, four ahead of Dodge. A total of 75,000 people attended the race, and 10.36 million watched it on television.
