Re:Newsletter
I would say Brabham BT49 (new GA) for the selected article, and one of the two shots of the Monza starting grid for featured picture. It's been a bit of a thin month for free photos on Flickr! Oh, and I've bumped up Stefan Bellof to C class - good work, and I think it could reach GA standard with some more references. :) --Midgrid(talk) 16:53, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the fixes I missed. I have to go out now, but I will deliver the issue to the remaining subscribers later today.--Midgrid(talk) 15:01, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- It's looking good! Nice work.--Midgrid(talk) 18:39, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Cs-wolves, I created 2012 Intercontinental Rally Challenge season by mistake when I was creating the 2011 article. Not sure if I should tag it for deletion or keep it. What do you think? BTW I think you live in Scotland, are you going to the Rally Scotland? Bjmullan (talk) 20:33, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing my error. I realise now that I was mixing the no-points grid background for the second place grid background. Silly boy. :-) B. Fairbairn (talk) 13:01, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – Brabham BT49, new Good Article
The Brabham BT49 (pronounced /ˈbræbəm/) is a Formula One racing car designed by South African Gordon Murray for the British Brabham team. The BT49 competed in the 1979 to 1982 Formula One World Championships and was used by Brazilian driver Nelson Piquet to win his first World Championship in 1981. The car was initially designed in 1979 as a short notice replacement for the team's Alfa Romeo-engined BT48, after Brabham team owner Bernie Ecclestone decided to end his relationship with the Italian engine manufacturer. The BT49 was created in only six weeks using elements of the BT48 chassis together with the widely used Cosworth DFV engine. It is a single seater with an open cockpit and exposed wheels. The monocoque chassis is made from aluminium alloy and carbon fibre composites. The car was fitted with controversial hydropneumatic suspension and water-cooled brakes at different points in its life. The BT49 was updated over four seasons taking a total of seven wins, six poles and 135 points. Seventeen were eventually built, most of which survive today. Some are used successfully in historic motorsport; Christian Glaesel won the 2005 FIA Historic Formula One Championship driving a BT49D. IP vandal
Hi, saw your revert to 2010 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season, please warn vandal if you can; twinkle can help to add the warnings (or tell me I and I will do it, if around). That's the third vandalism by that editor, and never been warned (I have done it now for this latest piece User talk:79.108.9.152) - they earlier did this edit, which was much later corrected back. I know there's no guarantee that an IP is static, but that's the risk that IP users have to live with. P.S. I think you are doing a very good job with these motocycling pages, I see you quickly kill off all the non ref material and rumours. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:34, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Edit Notice
I've added one to 2011 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season - it shows up when a user clicks "edit". It may prevent some unsourced data from being added. If you want the wording changed let me know (I "borrowed" this one from Eurovision Song Contest 2011). Ronhjones (Talk) 23:18, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

IP crap
Yes! Quite a common problem, what with teams being invented, drivers being invented, and now Arnoux's career being extended! Wonders will never cease. Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:44, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oh God yes. I remember him at Ligier, crawling around then punting off whoever tried to lap him! Those were the days... Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:47, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- I seem to recall that too. Never a dull moment with Hunt - particularly if Patrese was on screen! I miss Hunt. Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:53, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- He was pretty harsh on Patrese, and I think general consensus emerged that a number of factors were to blame for Peterson's accident, but Hunt carried on ranting about poor Riccardo. A bit like Senna, Hunt was incredibly charismatic, but nobody could really say they liked everything about him! He was a fantastic foil for Murray Walker, who used to get audibly annoyed by Hunt at times, but they sparked off each other so well. Brundle is good, but rarely controversial or exciting. I'll have a look for that book - books on Hunt are always worth a read. I particularly liked this one which has little anecdotes from all kinds of people who knew him. Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:09, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, Murray is a nice guy - never one to seek out drama! I think you're right about Brundle - he's pretty well liked at the moment, and if he started to take on the Hunt "irascible" persona, he would rub some people up the wrong way. I guess that commentators, like drivers, have to consider corporate niceties and try to keep everyone happy. I never liked James Allen, I have to say, but Legard seems ok. A bit nondescript - a bit like Jonathan Palmer in the co-commentator role before Brundle - but a pleasant guy, and not irritating, which is a blessing. I'm not sure I'd find Cox as easy to live with! Christopher Hilton - I quite liked his Senna stuff, though there's so much Senna info out there... I'm glad that Hunt book is a big one - I do like to get my teeth into these things. Off to bed now, or else I'll sleep through the morning... again! :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:30, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
- I like what you did with the Bellof article - great work :) He deserves more of a spotlight than his article had provided. I've never seen a book on Bellof, maybe there's one in German that needs translating! I'd love to see a book on David Purley, but apparently his family and those who knew him prefer to keep a lot of the detail of his life to themselves, which I guess we have to respect. Shame though, there's a fantastic book in there. Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:59, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Maybe not IP, but still crap. Another terrible idea from a common source. Let's hope common sense prevails and everyone knocks the idea on the head. A few of us spent weeks / months doing those tables. Make sure you have your say! Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:20, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- Couldn't agree more. She takes a policy that has been set for years, that nobody has ever had a problem with, and decides that it's an open book and we need consensus. And yet again she makes her change and then wants to seek consensus for it. She has no idea of policy. Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:27, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- Exactly, and Moss' table sums it right up. It would make the table useless for following his career, which is the whol point of the table. Bollocks is a fine way of describing the idea. It really irritates me when someone tries to shoot down a good policy because he/she has some totally irrational problem with it. Especially when they try and paint it as a "problem that really needs fixing". Ugh. Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:43, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- Indeed. Of course, she would find one table that hadn't been expanded... Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:32, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- I hope so too. I'm pretty sure there are very few unexpanded tables - Pyrope was doing quite a few of the last remaining ones. Notice how she drops any part of her argument that is utterly shot down in flames... Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:40, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- No, me neither, but there might be one or two, I guess. I liked "bastardised" too, but sadly she didn't bite! Hahah.. A couple more editors have had their say so it's now 4:1. Hopefully one or two more will join in and we can kick it into touch. Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:53, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- I hope so. She's edit-warring at Barrichello's article now, pretending that multi-row tables are some kind of novelty that shouldn't exist because she wasn't consulted. When her ridiculous idea is blown out of the water, I'll revert it. Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:18, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

May I ask for some help? (again)
Hello, but I am on a strict schedule this week, and I want to aski you if you would finish the race results table on 2010 Bank of America 500. I still havn't finished the race summary, and todays Thursday. Tomorrow is when I need to start adding to the next article! If you would, here is the link. Thanks and happy editing: Nascar1996 01:32, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks again, also when is the F1 race, I might watch it (I love any type of motorsports). Also, F1 is a lot simpler than NASCAR to cover. Nascar1996 02:03, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I can't watch it; starts at the same time as the NASCAR race. I may be switching channels in the commecials. Nascar1996 02:10, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, I misread it, I thought is said p.m. However, 1 a.m. is also very early, I go to bed thirty minutes prior. Nascar1996 02:24, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Since I am going to offline next Wendseday, will you finish the results table that is hidden below the qualifying table? Thanks. Nascar1996 03:01, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Do you work on the race summary for Formula One articles? Nascar1996 17:41, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I was wondering because the next race's race summary will have 1 lead change every lap almost. And such as 2010 Aaron's 499, the prose is horrible. Do you have an idea how I can imporve this? Nascar1996 17:54, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

- Okay. This is what I am going by to make the race summary. You can read it as well. Nascar1996 21:51, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Abarth actual standings and new championship
I'm also waiting the final standings according to rules. Rules say drivers have to compete at least in 5 events (with Monza compulsory) to be awarded points and enter the final classification.
We have to create the new page for the new chapionship European + Italian, and related annual season one. I guess It's becoming an important series in the future. Giagi (talk) 15:09, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
This is what Rules state (almost litterally translated):
Each driver, to enter the Final Standings of the Championship, must have competed (*) in five events (**), if not, panalty of not acquisition of the scores.
(*) Competed: having passed the scrutineering and then be verified. (**) In the five events must to be included the lastone. Giagi (talk) 15:35, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – Alan Kulwicki, selected as a good article
Alan Dennis Kulwicki (December 14, 1954 – April 1, 1993), nicknamed "Special K" and the "Polish Prince", was an American NASCAR Winston Cup Series (now Sprint Cup Series) racecar driver. He started racing at local short tracks in Wisconsin before moving up to regional stock car touring series. Kulwicki arrived at NASCAR, the highest and most expensive level of stock car racing in the United States, with no sponsor, a limited budget, and only a racecar and a borrowed pickup truck. Despite starting with meager equipment and finances, he earned the 1986 NASCAR Rookie of the Year award over drivers racing for well-funded teams. After Kulwicki won his first race at Phoenix International Raceway, he debuted what would become his trademark "Polish Victory Lap". Kulwicki won the 1992 Winston Cup championship by what was then the closest margin in NASCAR history. He died early in 1993 in a light aircraft accident, and was unable to defend his championship. He has been inducted into numerous racing halls of fame and was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers. Kulwicki was known for being a perfectionist and doing things his own way. An engineer by trade, his scientific approach to NASCAR racing inspires the way teams are now run. Despite lucrative offers from top car owners, he insisted on driving for his own race team, AK Racing, during most of his NASCAR career. Described by his publicist as "a real hard type of person to get to know", he remained a bachelor throughout his life. Article of the month – 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix, currently undergoing WP:PR
The 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix (formally the XXIII ING Magyar Nagydíj) was a Formula One motor race held on August 3, 2008, at Hungaroring in Mogyoród, near Budapest, Hungary. It was the 11th race of the 2008 Formula One season. Contested over 70 laps, the race was won by Heikki Kovalainen for the McLaren team, from a second position start. Timo Glock finished second in a Toyota car, with Kimi Räikkönen third in a Ferrari. It was Kovalainen's first Formula One victory, which made him the sport's 100th driver to win a World Championship race, and was Glock's first podium finish. The majority of the race was dominated by a duel between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa, who drove for McLaren and Ferrari respectively. Hamilton started from pole position on the starting grid but was beaten at the first corner by Massa, who passed him around the outside. The two championship rivals began a battle for the lead that was resolved when Hamilton sustained a punctured tyre just over half-way through the race, giving Massa a comfortable lead. The Ferrari's engine, however, failed with three laps of the race remaining, allowing Kovalainen to win. Article of the month – Auto Club Speedway, a recent good article
Auto Club Speedway (formerly California Speedway) is a two-mile (3 km), low-banked, D-shaped oval superspeedway in Fontana, California which has hosted NASCAR racing annually since 1997. The track was also used for open wheel racing events until 2005. The racetrack is located near the former locations of Ontario Motor Speedway and Riverside International Raceway. The track is currently owned and operated by International Speedway Corporation and is the only track owned by ISC to have naming rights sold. The speedway is served by the nearby Interstate 10 and Interstate 15 freeways as well as a Metrolink station located behind the backstretch.Construction of the track, on the site of the former Kaiser Steel Mill, began in 1995 and was completed in late 1996. The speedway has a grandstand capacity of 91,200 and 28 skyboxes. In 2006, a fanzone was added behind the main grandstand. Lights were added to the speedway in 2004 with the addition of a second annual NASCAR weekend. In 2011 the track will host only one NASCAR weekend. Article of the month – 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix, current Featured Article candidate
Räikkönen set the race's fastest lap in the other Ferrari, but was hampered by a poor qualifying performance and was stuck behind Alonso and Glock in turn for almost all of the race. Robert Kubica, another championship contender, finished eighth after finding his BMW Sauber car to be uncompetitive at the Hungaroring. Re: Hmm
Hahahah!! I'll suggest it to them! The mighty Orient have given me many, many days and nights of worry and stress, but this one was a whole new level... Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:20, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- I was driving to London from Manchester and I had terrible trouble concentrating on the road at times! I really wished I'd been there. Orient were typical Orient for about 75 minutes, i.e. hopeless - 2-0 down, we'd had our centre-half sent off and Droylsden were hacking our young Spurs lad Paul-Jose M'Poku to pieces because they couldn't think of any other way to cope with him. Eventually they brought him down in the box and we scored a penalty. Then Droylsden also had a man sent off, and our substitute scored an equaliser in the last minute. Then our penalty scorer, our last remaining centre half, was also sent off to make it 9 v 10. Into extra time, and M'Poku was still running riot - he scored to make it 3-2, and Droylsden collapsed. They hacked M'Poku down again and got another man sent off to even up the numbers at 9 each, and Orient just took over. As each goal went in, Droylsden just gave up. They even had their manager sent to the stands for running on to the pitch and having a go at one of our players. Orient's pro-level fitness certainly contributed to it - Droylsden's right winger was seriously overweight for example - but I think a big part of Droylsden's collapse was that they were seconds away from winning and then suddenly had to face extra time. They lost heart, sadly for them. But they were terribly cocky before and during the game, and they deserved to get thrashed, albeit late in the day! Fantastic O's on the way to Wembley-O *cough* hahaha... Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:13, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, I generally like non-league teams until they come up against Orient, then I instantly class them as jumped-up amateur muppets who are there for the beating. But I never learn - I've seen Orient shuffled out of the cup by such luminaries as Enfield, Hendon and Margate ("Come on O's! They wear kiss-me-quick hats!") We will get horribly mauled by Norwich - they beat us 4-0 in the league last season, and they're better now. But at least it's a fairly short trip back home afterwards for the lads! Doncaster away will be hard work - they will fancy it and I can already hear the Wullufs saying, "Ah well, at least we can concentrate on the league". I have no idea why you're down there near the bottom - when I see Wolves on Match of the Day they always seem like a decent footballing side. I think they'll get the required results before long :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:32, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, Norwich seem to be getting better all the time, which is a shame for us. As you say, when they're good they're very good indeed. If your lot can get something from Brum and WBA, then put away Wigan and Satan's West Ham (we at Orient hate West Ham), then that would be a great platform to work on for the following few games. All things being equal, Wolves have more quality than Wigan or the Evil Hammers, so there are 6 points for the taking. Even Liverpool are beatable, I would think. Positive thinking!! Says the Orient fan... hahaha.. off to bed, night! Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:54, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- I was starting to forget that Taarabt was even on the pitch. Apparently he blows hot and cold, but when he's hot he tends to hog the ball all the time and annoy his team-mates. I'm not sure he's the type of player a club would really enjoy having anyway! Let's see how many points your lot can haul in over the Christmas period and see how the land lies in the new year. Got to stay positive! As an Orient fan, I take optimism and positivity to levels that start to attract the men in white coats. See the Liverpool fixtures as an opportunity to steal six points from the Reds in the space of a few weeks! We might be persuaded to lend you our elderly talisman Scott McGleish if you're really stretched, so long as you don't damage him ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 12:04, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hahaha Taarabt did look particularly convincing when walking off the pitch, it's clearly the best part of his game! I've changed my mind about lending McGleish to you anyway, he scored again for us today - first time we've won at Tranmere since 1987. Must break out the celebratory beverages! :D Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:06, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- That's it, keep the faith! I'll be watching the results. And help to send those nasty Hammers back to the Championship where they belong! Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:25, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Stranger things have happened! In 1978 we got to the semis, beating Chelsea along the way ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:40, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, the play-offs would be amazing. Only six points away at the moment! Only two points from the drop zone though :/ Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:43, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, yes! The power of positive thinking! This could be just the beginning! ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:15, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- That's quite alright! Jubilation is encouraged on my page ;) Yeah, a frozen pitch (even though it was covered) and Plymouth Argyle were coming a long way so Orient had to make an early call on the pitch. Nobody wants to travel 250 miles to Leyton for nothing! Bretonbanquet (talk) 12:45, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- Unlucky with your game being off too - weather is awful everywhere. Shame I have to drive from Cornwall to London again tomorrow morning! Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:11, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, nowhere was safe this weekend :/ And I've got my snow chains and my shovel! And if the worst comes to the worst, I've got a duvet as well. Can't be too careful! Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:21, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2010 Sylvania 300, a recent Good Article
The 2010 Sylvania 300 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on September 19, 2010, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire. The 300 lap race was the twenty-seventh in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the first race in the ten-race Chase for the Sprint Cup, which ends the season. Clint Bowyer, of the Richard Childress Racing team, won the race, with Denny Hamlin finishing second, and Jamie McMurray third. Pole position driver Brad Keselowski maintained his lead in the first lap, but in the second lap Tony Stewart pulled ahead. Chase for the Sprint Cup participants Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, and Hamlin were in the top ten for most of the race, but in the closing laps all of them suffered spins or other problems. Hamlin was the only one to recover and finish in the top five. With two laps remaining, Tony Stewart was leading the race when he ran out of fuel, giving the lead to Bowyer, who also led the most laps in the race with 176. There were eight cautions and twenty-three lead changes among eight different drivers during the race. The race was Clint Bowyer's first win in the 2010 season, and the third of his career. The result advanced Bowyer to second in the Drivers' Championship, thirty-five points behind Hamlin and ten ahead of Kevin Harvick, but because of a penalty three days after the race, he fell to twelfth in the standings. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty-two points ahead of Toyota and seventy-four ahead of Ford, with nine races remaining in the season. A total of 95,000 people attended the race, while 3.68 million watched it on television. Holiday
I'm going on holiday (to Glasgow, coincidentally enough!) with some friends to celebrate the New Year tomorrow, so I won't be able to deliver this month's newsletter. Hope you're having a good festive season,--Midgrid(talk) 17:14, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- I've just found out that Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a current good article nominee, so that would be the logical choice for the selected article. As for photos, I don't know - perhaps the one of Eau Rouge in the snow?--Midgrid(talk) 18:23, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – Indianapolis Motor Speedway, current Good article nominee.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, located in Speedway, Indiana (an enclave suburb of Indianapolis) in theUnited States, is the home of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race and the Brickyard 400. It has existed since 1909, and is the original Speedway, the first racing facility historically to incorporate the word. With a permanent seating capacity for more than 257,000 people and infield seating that raises capacity to approximately 400,000, it is the largest and highest-capacity sporting facility in the world. Considered relatively flat by American standards but high-banked by Europeans, the track is a two-and-a-half-mile, nearly rectangular oval with dimensions that have remained essentially unchanged since its inception: four 1/4-mile turns, two 5/8-mile long straightaways between the fourth and first and second and third turns, and two 1/8-mile short straightaways, termed "short chutes," between the first and second, and third and fourth turns. A modern infield road course was constructed between 1998 and 2000, incorporating the western and southern portions of the oval (including the southwest turn) to create a 2.605-mile (4.192 km) track. In 2008, the road course was modified to replace the southwest turn with an additional infield section, for motorcycle use, resulting in a 2.621-mile (4.218 km) course. Altogether, the current grounds have expanded from an original 320 acres (1.3 km2) on which the Speedway was first built to cover over an area of over 559. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987, it currently remains the only such landmark to be affiliated with automotive racing history. In addition to the Indianapolis 500, the speedway also hosts NASCAR's Brickyard 400. From 2000 to 2007 the speedway also hosted the United States Grand Prix for Formula One. The inaugural USGP race drew an estimated 225,000 spectators, setting a Formula One attendance record. In 2008, the Speedway added the Indianapolis motorcycle Grand Prix, a Grand Prix motorcycle racing event. Since August 19, 1909, 248 automobile races have taken place, with 137 separate drivers winning. After winning his fifth United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis in 2006, Formula One driver Michael Schumacher holds the record for most victories between the three major events (Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400 and theF1 USGP), with all taking place on the Forumula One version of the road course. A. J. Foyt, Al Unser and Rick Mears each won the Indianapolis 500 four times on the traditional oval, and Jeff Gordon has also won four times on the oval in the Brickyard 400. No driver to date has won any combination of the three major events, with only one driver, (Juan Pablo Montoya), having competed in all three, winning the Indy 500, finishing fourth in the US Grand Prix, and placing second in the Brickyard 400. Johnny Aitken holds the record for total wins at the track, with 15 victories (all on the oval), during the 1909, 1910 and 1916 seasons. Automated delivery of the newsletter
Hi, in view of how long it takes for us to deliver new issues of the newsletter, I was thinking of submitting future issues to User:MessageDeliveryBot for automated delivery. What do you think?--Midgrid(talk) 19:57, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- OK then! I think that the request just has to be submitted when we want it to be delivered, so we can do it on the day. One of the conditions is that people receiving the messages have to know how they can opt out, so I've added a note to the bottom of the newsletter in accordance.--Midgrid(talk) 20:09, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- That is also a good idea, but I think we should give them an issue's warning beforehand. Of course, I doubt anyone who hasn't edited for a year will suddenly return to complain, but it's still polite.--Midgrid(talk) 20:36, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2010 Ford 400
The 2010 Ford 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on November 21, 2010 at Homestead Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. The 267 lap race was the thirty-sixth in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the final race in the ten-race Chase for the Sprint Cup, which ends the season. The race was won by Carl Edwards for the Roush Fenway Racing team. Jimmie Johnson finished second, and Kevin Harvick clinched third. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead on the first lap to begin the race, as Edwards, who started in the second position on the grid, remained behind him. On the fourth lap, Edwards became the leader of the race. Hamlin, the points leader, before the race, spun sideways early in the race, resulting with damage to his splitter. Afterward on lap 73, Martin Truex, Jr. became the leader, but after the final pit stops Edwards was first. He maintained the lead to win the race, after leading 192 laps. There were ten cautions and 25 lead changes among nine different drivers throughout the course of the race. It was Edwards' second win in the 2010 season, with the other being only one week earlier during the Kobalt Tools 500. Jimmie Johnson won the Drivers' Championship, 39 points ahead of Denny Hamlin. Johnson's team owner, Rick Hendrick won the Owners' Championship, and Chevrolet won the Manufacturer Championship with 261 points, 44 points ahead of Toyota. A total of 67,000 people attended the race, while 5.605 million watched it on television. Re:Commons
Hi there! Commons can only accept Flickr images which are licensed under the Creative Commons licence, and only the "Attribution" and "Share Alike" subclauses within it (i.e. some images are licensed under CC but cannot be uploaded to the Commons because they have different clauses attached). You can filter these images by going to the advanced search page and, at the bottom of the options menu, ticking all three boxes in the Creative Commons subsection. (If you find an image, or set of images, you really like and which aren't available under the right licence, you can create a Flickr account and use it to ask people to change the licence, as I sometimes do.)--Midgrid(talk) 00:46, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, that image would be permissible. I've just found this page, which is clearer. The first and last examples are fine for the Commons, but everything else is not allowed. Just remember to steer clear of the equals and dollar signs. ;) --Midgrid(talk) 01:05, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
As I'm on holiday
Yes! Not a record (cheeky!) but a fantastic win. I was the guy dancing round a very sleepy town with the Orient shirt on singing "4-0" for hours on Saturday. Not so much luck for the Wullufs, I see... there's still plenty of time to turn it around! Very tight league this year. Good luck in the Cup! Bretonbanquet (talk) 10:02, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- Came back from holiday today, and yes... not come back down from cloud 9 yet though ;) Good luck v. Stoke! See you in Round 5? Bretonbanquet (talk) 02:10, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- That's right! Back in the very early days of my support for the club - that cup run might have been what helped turn me into the lunatic O that I am today :) We've never played you in the Cup! So this year seems as good a year as any to start. I think the last time we played you was in 1988, which was maybe during the awful drop you had into the old Division 4... how times change! Bretonbanquet (talk) 02:20, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Fairly sure it was this season - dangerous site, that - I can spend ages there sometimes! Looks you did the double on us that season as you eased your way to the legendary Div 4 title. Bad luck in the cup... at least now you can concentrate on the league! Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:17, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yes... got to feel for him though. But even so, I'd take survival over a cup run any time! Despite that, Orient will be happy to bundle the Gooners out of the cup in the next round - let them concentrate on the league too ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:28, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- They won't be feeling jammy when they're leaving Brisbane Road on the wrong end of a beating. I can see Wenger mumbling, "We underestimated them and my team of 15 year olds were not up to the task." We owe them for the semi-final in 1978! Lower league teams have long memories... Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:45, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Exactly!!! Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:00, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

- Yes... got to feel for him though. But even so, I'd take survival over a cup run any time! Despite that, Orient will be happy to bundle the Gooners out of the cup in the next round - let them concentrate on the league too ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:28, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- That's right! Back in the very early days of my support for the club - that cup run might have been what helped turn me into the lunatic O that I am today :) We've never played you in the Cup! So this year seems as good a year as any to start. I think the last time we played you was in 1988, which was maybe during the awful drop you had into the old Division 4... how times change! restore ndash coding for ease of editing
Hi, CS-wolves.
I have noticed that you have replaced all of the HTML ndash coding in the main Florida Gators article. Our prior use of the HTML coding for ndashes in these articles' tables and text was not an accident; like most editors, my eyes cannot discern the differences between the ASCII characters for a hyphen, an endash or an mdash when editing code. It is my understanding that there is no preferred form of coding for ndashes, etc. (See WP:DASH) As a courtesy to myself and the other editors who have wrtten virtually all of these tables and text, I would be grateful if you would not make any further such changes to the Florida Gators articles so I can continue to work on them without going blind and batty. It is my understanding that changing coding for the sake of coding, when an article already has an established and uniform pattern, is frowned upon. Thank you for your understanding. Albers
Thanks for pointing that out about Albers. I never really followed him because he had no business being in F1. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 06:23, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- I remember him leaving the pits in France with the fuel rig still attached. It wasn't even a case of a mistake on the lollipop man's part; he just went in the middle of the stop. He was only ever at Spyker so they could have a Dutch driver in the sport. I hope he doesn't get signed to Hispania the way Karthikeyan did. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 21:49, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- I reckon the 107% rule was just there to appease Ferrari. Shortly before Montreal, they went on that tirade against the new teams for simply existing, and then during the race, Alonso got held up behind di Grassi long enough for Button to overtake. Exactly what Alonso was doing there remains a mystery, because di Grassi was off the racing line to let Alonso through. Even if di Grassi wasn't there, Alonso probably would have lost the place to Button anyway because he was so farr off-line. Because Ferrari was whinging about it, the 107% rule was brought back. I think Monaco was the only race last year where Hispania would have been in serious trouble with the 107% rule. I honestly don't think Hispania will be as bad this year as everyone assumes they will be. The F111 might be based on the F110, but apparently Geoff Willis had the plans for the TF110 long enough to start working some of Toyota's ideas into the chassis before the deal with Toyota fell through. - Well, Kolles has said that Senna will not be driving for them in 2011. Normally I'd be against adding a driver under the "Exited Formula 1" subheading on the season page when there is still an available seat, but we've got the reference to prove it. Senna won't be racing in 2011, and I don't think it's that big a loss. To day, Villeneuve, Hill and Rosberg are the only drivers who have lived up to their family name. Although there might be one or two I've forgotten. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 10:34, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Minor edit, fixing dashes with tool
Hi, you may want to comment on my post at [1]. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 11:53, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Television
Since your familar with other types of motorsports, do you think our project should include how the season's races were televised? Such as what I have done at 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series? I'm starting to wonder once I seen some comments about it at WT:F1. Thanks. --Nascar1996 14:43, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- What about listing international channels? In the race calendar its only the US channels. Nascar1996 15:28, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
