About languages in infobox
Hi Cyphoidbomb in some Indian articles there are fields in infobox like "native_name and romanized_name" so I wanted that they are allowed or not. Sidaq pratap (talk) 15:06 2 February 2018 (UTC) Sidaq pratap (talk) 15:06, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Sidaq pratap: Per WP:NOINDICSCRIPT, we should not include Indic scripts in the infobox or the lead. Part of this had to do with people edit-warring over which native language to use, or the reordering of the languages. Is the person/film/place more Tamil than Telugu? It's been a persistent problem. Anyway, the community discussed it, and they don't want Indic scripts in the lead or in the infobox. As for the Romanized name, I'm not sure. It would depend on what type of article it was for. You should look at the infobox instructions. Since you didn't mention which article you were talking about, I can't point you to the correct infobox instructions page, but the format is usually Template:Infobox ___. For film articles it would be Template:Infobox film for people it's Template:Infobox person. If you paste that in the search field, it will lead you to the correct infobox instructions page. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:21, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- I agree that BLPs shouldn't have Indic scripts, but why should single-language film articles follow suit? The parameter "native name" should be abolished then, right? --Kailash29792 (talk) 15:31, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Kailash29792, why would we abolish the parameter? There are Japanese films, Italian films, Spanish films, etc. that are unaffected by this. The whole "no Indic scripts" issue exists because of India's unique problem with multiple languages/ethnicities competing for attention/recognition. We've all seen this: When a Tamil film is dubbed/filmed in other languages, we might add the Tamil name, but then someone will come along and add the Telugu and Malayalam names. It's just an "attractive nuisance". The major discussions took place at WT:IN, in case anyone is interested in reading the rationale. The archived discussions can be found at Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics/Archive 64#Multiple Indicscript in infoboxes are out of control and in the subsequent RfC. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:48, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- Only disruptive editors would do like that. I would only add those languages in which the film was shot, that too if the title is not English. Because I believe that is the way it should be. ----Kailash29792 (talk) 17:36, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

- An RfC has closed with a consensus that candidates at WP:RFA must disclose whether they have ever edited for pay and that administrators may never use administrative tools as part of any paid editing activity, except when they are acting as a Wikipedian-in-Residence or when the payment is made by the Wikimedia Foundation or an affiliate of the WMF.
- Editors responding to threats of harm can now contact the Wikimedia Foundation's emergency address by using Special:EmailUser/Emergency. If you don't have email enabled on Wikipedia, directly contacting the emergency address using your own email client remains an option.
- A tag will now be automatically applied to edits that blank a page, turn a page into a redirect, remove/replace almost all content in a page, undo an edit, or rollback an edit. These edits were previously denoted solely by automatic edit summaries.
- The Arbitration Committee has enacted a change to the discretionary sanctions procedure which requires administrators to add a standardized editnotice when placing page restrictions. Editors cannot be sanctioned for violations of page restrictions if this editnotice was not in place at the time of the violation.
Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai (About Shilpa Shinde)
Hi dear, I didn't agree with your this edit: (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/823482226 ) You said that this is not encyclopedic. I don't agree with you because Shilpa Shinde is main cast, She done this show. She was confident about her character Angoori but she was wrong. I am not humiliating Shilpa Shinde, because Shilpa Shinde said that "Show will shut down without her". My edit is encyclopedic because it is about the character of Angoori that she was wrong. Readers should know that. It is not gossip because Shilpa Shinde (main cast) said that about Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. Zafar24Talk 21:37, 1 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Zafar24: Many people make predictions. Why do we care? Many people are wrong. Why do we care? A person who gets kicked off of a show, they might be bitter and say rash things. Why do we care? What specific academic question are you answering with the inclusion of that statement? If critics had said this, then it might be worth noting, because the critics were wrong. But an embittered actor who had a beef with the producers of the show? Why do we care? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:32, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
When she said, "BhabiJi Ghar Par Hai will shut down without me", she was confident about her character Angoori, she forgot about others three lead actors, others which are not lead actors but they are also popular and popularity of the show, she was proven wrong. I Believe that, this is encyclopedic. You said, "Many people make predictions"; but Shilpa Shinde is not just a person but she was main cast, if we assume she kicked out of show or she left the show, how can she said that show will shut down without her, because show was very popular even that time when she left. She was main lead cast of the show thats why her prediction is important to include in encyclopedia.Zafar24Talk 13:42, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Zafar24: Again, it comes off as gossipy and I still don't see what academic question you are answering. Why don't you ask over at WikiProject Television to see what they think? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:49, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Zafar24: I don't know what are you trying to say? But that reference is not part of the encyclopedia. Please see WP:NOT. Siddiq Sazzad (Chat) 09:43, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
What is Wikipedia:HATSHOP?
Hi Cyphoidbomb,
I want to know what is Wikipedia:HATSHOP? Because when I was requesting for user rights, some of admins claim that I appears to be engaged in hat shopping. Why it happen? And How to resolve it. Thank You. Siddiq Sazzad (Chat) 06:24, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Siddiqsazzad001: I think it's fairly obvious when reading WP:HATSHOP. But the simplest answer is: Hat shopping is when someone applies for user privileges for no reason other than to have them, as if these rights give them greater status or legitimacy. I can't see you having a need for the AutoWikiBrowser. This is a very powerful tool and users need to establish themselves as highly competent and trustworthy before using it, as any mistake could cause significant damage. To put this into perspective, I probably had made 15,000-18,000 edits before I was even curious about AWB. I'm not clear why you would need Pending changes reviewer rights. How many articles are on your watchlist that are protected by pending changes? Doubt you need Rollback rights. Rollback is something even I don't use very often. List of Bigg Boss controversies
Hi Cyphoidbomb The content of this page List of Bigg Boss controversies is more like gossipy than academic in nature and I don't think there is any need of creating another page listing controversies as notable controversies are already mentioned on Bigg Boss page and related pages. I was going to nominate this page for deletion but than I thought of talking to an admin on this topic first. Thanks Sidaq pratap (talk) 18:45, 5 February 2018 (UTC) Sidaq pratap (talk) 18:46, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Sidaq pratap: If you do choose to nominate it for deletion, you should read WP:BEFORE first. It's important to figure out what your main argument is for deletion, as opposed to other options like merging. You might also want to post an invitation at WT:TV to see if you can get members of WikiProject Television to comment. (They're not terribly interested in Indian TV, but it's worth a shot.) Please keep your invitation as neutral as possible, ex: "Hi, your comments are requested at ___ to discuss whether or not this reality show article should be deleted." Hope that helps, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:03, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
Hi Cyphoidbomb,
In Ishqbaaaz, my edit was undone by you. I am just following the policy of WP:PLOTSUM. Where you can see, The Film style guideline suggests that "plot summaries for feature films should be between 400 and 700 words". The TV style guideline recommends "no more than 200 words" for television episodes in episode lists, or "no more than 400 words" in standalone episode articles. The Novels style guideline says that plot summaries "should aim to be no more than three or four paragraphs". The Video game style guideline states "no more than approximately 700 words to retain focus". However, particularly complex plots may need a more lengthy summary than the general guidance. Indian TV Shows episodes are largest. We don't know when these shows are going air off. It's mean there going lots of twists or turns. Then the plot section became a great novel book. If you see the longest running show of Star Plus's Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai which has cross 2,578 episode, where you can see plot section has warning template. Otherwise that plot section is smaller than Ishqbaaaz. Please think about future. Wikipedia is not a blogspot or other website (Ex.TellyUpdates.com). So If we add simple concept of plot summaries then that would be fine. Thank You, Siddiq Sazzad (Chat) 07:25, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Siddiqsazzad001: I'm well versed in a great many Wikipedia guidelines, especially those in MOS:FILM and MOS:TV. Secondly, did you read my edit summary? I wrote "...this was discussed at WT:TV or MOS:TV and editors seemed OK with longer plot if there was no episode table." This was discussed at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Television#Need clarification on plot size again. Most editors seemed fine with expanding the plot section if there wasn't an episode list with episode summaries. Ishbaaaz has no episode table, and it's unlikely one will ever be created, because they're 463 episodes along, but there would still be an academic value in providing a general overview of each season. The community felt that 500 words maximum per season was sufficient, and this would discourage most of the unnecessary twists and turns. We're not required to use the maximum of 500 words per season, but a certain level of detail can be included. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 07:52, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
padmalakshmisx
Mr. Cyphoidbomb I dont want to put any comments anymore, because you are twisting and convoluting my statements, and giving a different meaning to the audience.
You assign this username for me (chimeclots). Give me 48 hrs time and check my edits. If I do one single mistake, then I will follow the standard offer route.
I am saying I am neither superior nor inferior to my fellow editors. There are so many editors who received barnstars, but still manipulating their edits. What I said is true and legally correct "show me one editor who can recreate the article Indian Film Selections and Screenings at Cannes Film Festival". You are using your authority illegally on me. You are a corrupt administrator. Chimeclots (talk) 05:18, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

Knowing the limits
On Hate Story IV page. I added info from varifiable sources with citations. Instead of removing it due to grammer mistakes, you could have corrected it. Being master editor doesn't make you a god. HARSH RATHOD (talk) 08:59, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Harshrathod50: That was a mistake on my part. I believe what happened was: I had an older version of the article open, then was distracted by something. When I returned, I edited the page, which accidentally reverted content you'd added in the interim. When I made this edit, I only intended to change the grammar in the image alt description. That said, using Cinestaan, apparently a random blog, and an unverified Twitter account as sources will need to be improved per WP:UGC. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:14, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
Hi, can you please check out this article as a new editor has persisted in adding three unreferenced sections and a probable copyvio image. Earwig turnitin indicates that the content may have been lifted from www.filmyfolks.com but have been unable to access the site to check. The editor has ignored warnings and has now changed Dsena's name to D'sena , have used up my three reverts, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 16:33, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
The editor has now added an unreferenced section to Rithvik Dhanjani, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 16:37, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Atlantic306: I reverted some of the stuff. If he resubmits the unsourced BLP content, see if some of the regular admins are around like NinjaRobotPirate, NeilN, and such. I personally would block him if he re-added it. I won't be around for a few hours. Also, I noticed that he created an article, Delhi Dragons, that was previously created by SahibCollege24 a sock of Imtitanium. Might be something to research if you have time. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:15, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for your quick response, he may well be a sock, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 17:19, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Atlantic306: Rithvik Dhanjani has been edited by at least 2 Imtitanium socks. Do you have the tool enabled that displays blocked users with strike-outs? If you do not, it's very handy when looking at article edit histories. Should be enable-able through the Prefs > gadgets. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:20, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

New Sock Puppet of Mountmeher
@Cyphoidbomb, There appears to be a new sock puppet of User:Padmalakshmisx and User:Mountmeher named User:Hulatroy. He/she reverted your revert at several sites today. See here. I don't know how to report a suspected sock puppet. Dazedbythebell (talk) 14:50, 14 February 2018 (UTC)

hi User:Cyphoidbomb ... thanks for your work on india related articles.... if you don't mind i want to know what does "Cyphoidbomb" mean ?--Adamstraw99 (talk) 16:42, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Adamstraw99: Thanks for the recognition! To answer your question, it means absolutely nothing as far as I know. I don't even remember how I came up with it. I think when I was faced with having to come up with a user name here, I didn't have any good ideas, so I just mashed up a random word. "Bomb" sounds kinda tough, and "cyphoid" kinda feels like "cyber". I don't know. I should just tell more people that it's actually C.y.pho.i.d.bomb, which means "See why pho is da bomb", because I do love a good pho... Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:54, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
Feature film soundtrack
Hi admin! In Padmaavat and Pad Man (film), I have seen that some songs are written as "Singles", but I think those were "Promotional Singles". I was editing Reputation (Taylor Swift album), there I saw that the experienced editors were not writing the names of promo singles in Template:Singles, until those were officially released as Singles.
I think this should be done in here too. What are your comments? Also, are both the pages protected (I thought I should discuss this before editing)? Similarly, these details can be trimmed:
The first track of the film "Aaj Se Teri" which is sung by Arijit Singh was released on 20 December 2017. The second track of the film titled as "The Pad Man Song" which is sung by Mika Singh was released on 25 December 2017.
The first song "Ghoomar", to which Padukone performs the traditional Rajasthani folk dance on a set that replicates the interior of Chittorgarh Fort, was released on 25 October 2017. The second song from the film "Ek Dil Ek Jaan", a love ballad featuring Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, was released on 11 November 2017.
You know I was editing Dear Zindagi also, where we mentioned only those in Template:Singles which were not included in the film but were released online, apart from soundtrack. Thanks! M. Billoo 11:34, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi M.Billoo2000, I don't know much about this subject area. You might consider opening discussions to get input from people who have edited those articles extensively. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:17, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi admin! What are your comments on using INRconvert? Like for here, I say that many references give amounts only in PKR; and as PKR-US$ may vary time to time, so I do not prefer using PKRconvert. I think similar would be for there too, but I am not pretty sure. Many refs there too give amounts in INR only, and I think self-using INRconvert may not be correct, until people keep the template up to date. Thanks! M. Billoo 15:54, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

Roadside Romeo box office
I can confirm that Hahahahwj is a sock puppet of Aruna Singh. I can't confirm Williams least or Xmjhhsjks, but I think this interaction analyser report is fairly compelling. What do you think? NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 17:51, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
- @NinjaRobotPirate: I suspected Hahahahwj of being Wiliams least but didn't act on it. Both of them seem to fudge film financials and they had weird edit summaries like "Only budget real it is" and "Do not change it is real that i have fill." I was actually going to run them past you, but I didn't have time to write up a whole thing. Oddly, Xmjhhsjks hasn't used any edit summaries, which is dissimilar from the others. But if he's fudging figures like here, I'd probably indef to get him to participate in discussion. If he doesn't, then we don't have to worry about keeping up with him after his block expires. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:58, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- I was really expecting W and X to be confirmed to Aruna, but there are some irregularities that make it more like Possilikely (a mix between possible and likely). If they keep acting up, I guess they could probably just be indeffed on their own merits, but I think there's got to be some sock or meat puppetry here somewhere. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 04:32, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- Two more new editors just popped up with the exact same M.O. I've had enough, and I'm blocking them all as suspected socks from now on. I'm convinced it's either sock or meat puppetry. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 16:02, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

- @NinjaRobotPirate: Do you think Hero no. 1 is related? I hope so, because I've indeffed him as a sock of Aruna Singh. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:24, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
- Checkuser is kind of a wash and comes out Possible, but I think there's ample behavioral evidence. I think it's too much to believe that these similar accounts are just randomly popping up like this. I wish we could get an explanation instead of these cryptic edit summaries. Wikipedia:BRD on The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir
Hi Cyphoidbomb
The Conversation on Talk:The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir is not moving forward as the other user is not replying so what should be the next step and also Your advice and guidance is required related to this Wikipedia:BRD. Thanks.Sid95Q (talk) 08:42, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

The user is blocked for 1 week for disruptive editing so can I edit The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir now. Sid95Q (talk) 19:10, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Sid95Q: In my opinion, you might consider waiting just to be fair to him. Wikipedia has WP:NODEADLINE. Though I understand the desire to change the article and "win", there is something to be said about showing good sportsmanship. If he were indeffed, then maybe I'd have another opinion. You could also invite members of WT:TV to comment there, although they aren't usually too interested in Indian TV shows. But at least then you'd get other opinions which might move the discussion toward consensus one way or another. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:02, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
Problematic editing
[8], [9] (on semi-protected article) - This is not his first, second or third time. Regularly adds puffery and unsourced content in small scales (probably why they went unnoticed) in various articles. Apparently not following any style or wiki policy. I can provide more evidences if you want. 117.251.239.248 (talk) 16:56, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- More examples would be great. The Megastar thing I have mixed feelings about. We can't just call Mammootty "Megastar" without context like by saying "Megastar Mammootty won the __ award", but it is a fact that many outlets use that nickname, similar to how Michael Jackson was the "King of Pop", so I'm not opposed to objectively noting this. (It should be sourced, though.) The misuse of the
|other_names=
parameter is problematic, because now we're getting into prominently featuring nicknames as though they were facts about the person. Since these changes were made several months ago, I don't think that slapping him with warnings is the right approach, but depending on what other examples you have, I could tailor a better approach. Please lend a result
Hello. We had been discussing about the existence of "other honors" for Shraddha Kapoor article here but for quite some time, this discussion is held low for no possible reasons. Can you please tell when is this going to end to a result? From my opinion, giving the list of "Other Honors" is not a wrong deal at all. Because, besides being popular actor or singer or model, Shraddha Kapoor is also an established personality otherwise. She is popular and has fame nationwide. I clearly think that it would be right to keep those awards or otherwise kindly delete those awards present for articles, here, here and here. Thankyou! (talk) 08:17, 14 March 2018

Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! edit notice
Hi Cyphoidbomb! Back in 2016, you added this edit notice to the Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! page due to IP editors relentlessly adding copyvio summaries to the article. However, the show has now ended as of this morning, so the edit notice is probably no longer needed. Obviously you would know better than I about that, though I thought I'd just drop a little note here about it since I believe I was the one who requested you add it in the first place. Hope 2018 is treating you well. Cheers, Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 17:00, 18 March 2018 (UTC)

Being watched
I knew I was being watched. 😚 You know, I got too many fans now! But I had done so many good faith edits. Though, you can object the music parameter edits. See these pages: October (2018 film) and Blackmail (2018 film). I added so many citations here and also wrote the soundtrack section for them. At some point, you were right that I was edit-warring by myself. 😔 No doubt, you are efficient in keeping an eye on everything. If any IP had explained why he/she/it was removing my edits then I would have had no objection. I don't find anything wrong there. You can perform proof-reading. Many of my edits in the soundtrack sections are inspired by american singers' albums pages. Also I am using proper words. I didn't copy them, I wrote them. I also need a feedback now at this point. What do you think? This will help me improve. Harsh Rathod 07:37, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

This time the issue is as per Hotstar http://www.hotstar.com/tv/savdhaan-india-darr-kar-nahin-dat-kar/15034 The last episode of Savdhaan India aired on 23 March but there is not better source available this time so what should be done in this case and another thing someone is in revenge mood I think so I don't want because of that there will be any kind of disruption on wikipedia. - Hi Sid95Q, a good place to start is always on the article's talk page to discuss the matter with other editors. Note also that Wikipedia has no deadline, so it's OK if we don't have up-to-the-minute information in our articles. If we have to wait until we get a clear indication that the series has been cancelled, that is a suitable approach to take. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:51, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

Watch request
Could you please watch this page Sabyasachi Chakrabarty? Pattern of previous non-constructive edits by IP (generally starts with 2405.xxx): adding incorrect/hoax information without any citation. They went to several articles and added the actor's name in the "Cast" section. --Titodutta (talk) 06:26, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Titodutta: Added to my watchlist. Sometimes I inadvertently pass up articles that aren't part of my usual routine, so if I happen to miss something, please just drop me a note. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:24, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Titodutta: I see what you mean about the unconstructive edits. There seems to be a mix of good hand/bad hand editing, maybe and I think I've dealt with him and his crappy table formatting before at Anupama Parameswaran. For instance, I think he was also 2405:204:67AF:FD39:0:0:1D45:30B0 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) and I think he made these edits where you'll notice he wikilinks every instance of Telugu (pointing to disambiguation page) and I think he did these. Note the weird wikilinking of A.J.H.Rajesh Diwakar and he sometimes does weird stuff with boldface. Sabyasachi Chakrabarty's current filmography is dubious. Some stuff makes sense like Jawker Dhan, but I don't see any indication he was in Mersal or Tiger Zinda Hai or Zero. Maybe restoring a much older version of his filmography would be the smart thing to do? Maybe this version from November 2017 since it lacks the questionable films like Mersal? I don't know. Administrators' newsletter – April 2018
News and updates for administrators from the past month (March 2018).
- 331dot • Cordless Larry • ClueBot NG
- Gogo Dodo • Pb30 • Sebastiankessel • Seicer • SoLando
- Administrators who have been desysopped due to inactivity are now required to have performed at least one (logged) administrative action in the past 5 years in order to qualify for a resysop without going through a new RfA.
- Editors who have been found to have engaged in sockpuppetry on at least two occasions after an initial indefinite block, for whatever reason, are now automatically considered banned by the community without the need to start a ban discussion.
- The notability guideline for organizations and companies has been substantially rewritten following the closure of this request for comment. Among the changes, the guideline more clearly defines the sourcing requirements needed for organizations and companies to be considered notable.
- The six-month autoconfirmed article creation trial (ACTRIAL) ended on 14 March 2018. The post-trial research report has been published. A request for comment is now underway to determine whether the restrictions from ACTRIAL should be implemented permanently.
- There will soon be a calendar widget at Special:Block, making it easier to set expiries for a specific date and time.
- The Arbitration Committee is considering a change to the discretionary sanctions procedures which would require an editor to appeal a sanction to the community at WP:AE or WP:AN prior to appealing directly to the Arbitration Committee at WP:ARCA.
- A discussion has closed which concluded that administrators are not required to enable email, though many editors suggested doing so as a matter of best practice.
- The Foundations' Anti-Harassment Tools team has released the Interaction Timeline. This shows a chronologic history for two users on pages where they have both made edits, which may be helpful in identifying sockpuppetry and investigating editing disputes.
Race 3
Hello,
The changes that I had made to the race 3 page were authentic. The facts are based on the poster releases by the official verified pages of Salman Khan and SalmanKhanFilms.
For eg. you can see here in the below links that the producer is SALMA khan and not salman khan. Salma khan is the name of salman's mother.
https://twitter.com/SKFilmsOfficial?lang=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BgwZ0a5AxhG/?hl=en&taken-by=beingsalmankhan
Please look into this and revert back to the changes I have made.

Naagin (Season 3)
I've cleaned up Naagin (Season 3) but it resulted in an interesting outcome. The cast list was supported by refs that didn't exist so I removed them, leaving a single ref for one entry, so it's now mostly unsourced. When I fixed the lead, the refs there became redundant so I removed them. The situation becomes interesting because some of the deleted refs from the lead support the cast list or link to articles that do, so they may need to be used later. --AussieLegend (✉) 17:36, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
- @AussieLegend: Thanks for cleaning it up. I would've thought they'd have used references from the main Naagin article. I find it a little curious that the article claims S3 is a remake of S2. That's just weird. Unrelated, the "main female lead" is a bizarre convention that keeps coming up in Indian TV articles mostly. Strange infatuation with using redundant "main" and "lead" language (note this edit at another article, which introduces "Main Female Lead Protagonist") as well as the need to tell readers who the boys and girls are. This has been going on for years. Also unrelated, if you look at the article creator's edit history, the first few edits have the shape of sockpuppet, although I'm not sure of whom. Something's fishy there. Thanks for commenting on the merge, BTW. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:58, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

IndiaGlitz
Hello Cyphoidbomb, Can we accept IndiaGlitz as a reliable source to support notability? I notice the name of the website has been removed from the list of unreliable sources listed at WP:ICTF but I can still see it listed as unreliable at WP:ICTFFAQ and still has the same issue "no about us page and no indication of who runs it or what their credentials are." - @GSS-1987: Any idea who removed it? I'm not aware of any discussion that would have established consensus on that. Hi!
Could you take a look at this user's incessant need to upload a poster featuring Indic script for an Indian film with an English title? The original image is the most widely-used poster for the film, but the user seems to have a very different idea and is unwilling to listen. Thanks. --Krimuk2.0 (talk) 14:44, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Krimuk2.0: Sorry for the delay in responding. Though I'm unaware of any specific community guideline on poster language, it would seem to me that we justify our use of non-free images on the basis that the image is being used to identify an article subject. So if we are trying to identify a film widely distributed with the English title October, and if there is a poster with that name, it might be more helpful to use that at the English Wikipedia. Having a film poster with Indic script doesn't do as much to help identify as the English script does, particularly when we no longer add Indic script to articles (something I actually kinda disagree with.) If, however, the only option was a poster with Indic script, I'd probably go with that. Anyway, this discussion might need to be opened to a wider forum. - @Kailash29792 and GSS: I mass reverted about 93 of their recent edits. I have a tool that makes this very easy. If anybody edited an article after him, the tool won't work, and some of his stuff will have snuck through in some articles. Need Guidance
Sir, the article on Saumya Tandon uses 'Infobox model template' as a module, but the only link provided as a source is her being the 'First Runner-Up' Femina Cover Girl here. My question is whether 'Infobox model template' can be applied to articles of subjects who get on the cover of some fashion magazine(or be the first runner up) or have a non-notable modeling career. I believe there are a lot of actors/actresses who did some modeling.
Secondly, it seems the only purpose of using 'Infobox model template' was to add her 'Eye color', the supporting citation of which seems totally not related to modeling. Link
- There are other things like usage of blog-like sites and original searches which I'll clean up as per rules and consensus, but this 'Infobox model template' seems inappropriate here. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 16:33, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Fylindfotberserk: I don't really have an opinion here. If she is known for more than modeling, then perhaps Infobox person would be more broad. You might consider opening a discussion on the article's talk page to see if editors interested in that subject have any thoughts. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:46, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

Check out @BeingSalmanKhan’s Tweet: https://twitter.com/BeingSalmanKhan/status/977794711850180608?s=09 sir this is salman khan tweet to introduce anil kapoor character in this tweet he introduce anil kapoor character name Gunjan surti (talk) 04:15, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Gunjan surti: Thank you for your reply, but I'm unclear what value this post has. "Shamsher: Bhaiji Humre boss #Race3 #Race3ThisEid @AnilKapoor @SKFilmsOfficial @TipsOfficial" is not a complete sentence, let alone any sort of clear confirmation of the role that Kapoor is going to play. Maybe we need to wait for something more specific in a complete sentence. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:36, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

Sanju
Hi, I am not sure but is quoting directly from a website allowed like done here, here and here? Will it be copyright violation or not? Should I remove it or leave it be? Thanks Vivek Ray (talk) 04:46, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Vivek Ray: Short quotations are typically fine under "fair use" exemption of copyright law. Even some longer excerpts may be used if we are not basing large quantities of an article on the quote, and if we are only using what is reasonable. Some of the quotes in the examples you provided could probably be trimmed down, but are not horrible. We should be using quotes to help clarify the prose that we are writing, (instead of relying just on quotes) and in some of those examples that's happening. You should probably see MOS:QUOTE for more info. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:34, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
Semi CSI Season 14
Cyphoid, would you be willing to semi-protect CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (season 14)? We've got an IP removing a source for a correct episode title; there was a squabble a while back over whether two words should be hyphenated, and the source settled the problem. I brought this to you because it appears to be the same guy in Maricopa County, AZ who caused all the problems with Huell Howser and a few other articles. Thanks, pal! ----Dr.Margi ✉ 07:08, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Re: Bajrangi
Hello, initially I started writing this on the noticeboard, anyway, I think this this dispute is unnecessary in a plot. (I hope I have not forgotten), the movie showed that the village was in Pakistan. A family from the village crosses the border and comes to India and that's how the story starts. Later, in the movie, the place is identified as Sultanpur, which is written in the plot section also. I am not sure if Sultanpur, Jhelum, is the place. --Titodutta (talk) 18:26, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Titodutta: I appreciate the reply. Still not sure what to do though. Change it to "a village in Pakistan"? Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:05, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- That's I am not sure too, that's why I did not post it on WT:INB. I'll check for some newspaper reference mentioning that part of the plot. --Titodutta (talk) 04:09, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you, sir. I appreciate the help! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:11, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- This press news mentions "the opening scene of the movie shows the town Sultanpur of Pakistan". Of course press releases are not good source, but just trying to get some idea. India.com mentions: "travels with her mother from Pakistan’s mountainous Sultanpur village to a Delhi", or see Financial Express: "6-year-old mute Pakistani girl back to her village". Reading from BoxOffice Collection, "movie starts from Zilla Sultanpur, Pakistan where a six years old girl".
I think what you have suggested (Sultanpur), "a village in Pakistan", is fine. --Titodutta (talk) 04:26, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- If a place's name isn't mentioned in the film, it shouldn't in the plot section either. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:07, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I provided citation for Bharat but my edit was undone citing WP:TOOSOON. But WP:TOOSOON is about articles. Then in this discussion, WP:CRYSTAL was mentioned according to which my edit was legitimate. So, can I add back what was undid? Thanks Vivek Ray (talk) 15:00, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- It's sorted out, I guess. Thanks Vivek Ray (talk) 15:08, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) @Vivek Ray: Actors are offered a lot of roles and many times they accept them. Does this mean we automatically add that? I don't know. I don't know exactly what the threshold for inclusion is on future releases, but it would seem to me that unless something has begun production, anything could happen to derail a planned film. That's why per WP:NFF we don't create articles on films that have been announced, we always wait until principal photography has begun. I've opened a discussion here at WT:FILM for you, though, and SamHolt6 if you wish to comment, you are of course invited. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:09, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Cyphoidbomb: Oh, sorry I added it back as SamHolt6 was OK with it. If she leaves or anything else happens, it can always be removed. And, looking forward to participate in the discussion mentioned by you! Thanks Vivek Ray (talk) 16:16, 17 May 2018 (UTC)

- Hi Sid95Q, I appreciate that you bring these to my attention, although it would be a little more helpful if you could provide me with some examples of why you think these are socks of Shriwastaw. Usually what admins are looking for are "diffs" (a link like this that shows an editing change) that show similarities in editing. This could be the resubmission of content that previous socks added, or language phrasing that is unique to this user, or things like that. It's a bit different when an admin has to jump into a sock investigation cold--these things take time. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:39, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

No Indic script
Hi, as per WP:NOINDICSCRIPT, Indic scripts should not be used in the lead sections or infoboxes of India-related articles . Achhut Kannya and many other older Hindi films use Urdu for the names. What about them? Should they be kept or removed? Thanks Vivek Ray (talk) 13:39, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Vivek Ray: Is Urdu considered an Indic script, or is it a Persian script? To be honest, I'm not sure that your AWB-fueled blanket-removal of all Indic scripts from film articles was the best move. While consensus currently doesn't favor the addition of the scripts, it may have been possible to establish a local consensus exempting films from the rule. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:16, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Cyphoidbomb: So what should be done now? And, I am not removing Urdu. Thanks Vivek Ray (talk) 14:48, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Vivek Ray: I don't know. What's done is done. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:03, 21 May 2018 (UTC)

INDICSCRIPT needs amendment
Editors take their AWB trucks and run over all the movie and TV articles. It doesn't help. We need to remove this dumb INDICSCRIPT completely or at least add a clause saying that if native name is on the poster/title card, then it should be added. I hope you'll edit MOS, you're an administrator. I'm not confident enough to edit MOS. TryKid (talk) 17:46, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- @TryKid: That's not an administrator decision, that's a community decision and an exception could only be added if there was a new consensus to do so. I personally don't have a problem with including Indic script in the infobox, because I think it can be helpful for finding references, etc. However thanks to all the shenanigans that obnoxious ethnic-warriors have pulled over the years, like moving their cuture's script to the front of the list, or adding Tamil to a Telugu production because there was a Tamil dub, etc. If you're interested in some of the RfC discussions on this, you can find them listed at WP:NOINDICSCRIPT. Anyway, the only way to change this is for somebody to open an well-thought-out RfC. Not sure where the best place to do that would be, though. Current consensus was shaped at WT:IN. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:22, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- Since WP:NOINDICSCRIPT is being discussed, I just had to let everyone know about a current thread at ANI. There is a question if NOINDICSCRIPT gives guidance for infoboxes of landmarks in Malaysia. In the case reported at ANI the use of Tamil script is implausible because the the Goddess of Mercy Temple (situated in Penang) appears to have a Chinese congregation and no Tamil connection. But the original WP:NOINDICSCRIPT is narrowly worded; it may be hard to apply it broadly (e.g. in Southeast Asia). Strangely, the guideline seems to forbid Indic script only on topics that are India-related. Non-India-related topics can have all the Indic script they want (it seems). EdJohnston (talk) 15:46, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- @EdJohnston: Since the consensus was built at WikiProject India, I would imagine that Indic scripts outside of Indian subjects would be OK, just as you interpret. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:54, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
