PK awards list update

Way to go! 'grats again for another FL. Now you have to fix up all those problems. I'm on my rostered day off + week end - seeya.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 20:57, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

HG discog

Just when you thought you could rest on your FL laurels, along I go to try to get HG discog up there too!

This time we should know what we're doing?

I've had a preliminary shot at my sandbox copy. I've removed the B-sides to 2nd sandbox if you haven't kept them.

Could you have a look at it and see where it can be improved?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 23:28, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Gyroscope

Hey, i'm definitely willing to help out. Just not right now, i'm coming up to final exams and trying to keep things to a minimum while school is hectic. But i will take up the offer when i have the time! What did you have in mind? GA for the Gyroscope article or Breed Obession? I just doubt there's enough reliable sources for these articles, nearly the whole of that Australia article is from 2 or 3 main sources, which makes it tedious. Or is it just general cleaning up of all the Gscope articles? Discography page would be neat, nice and easy to do. Thanks a bunch for the FLC comments too. kiac (talk) 05:39, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

PK Members

I don't think List of Paul Kelly's bands and members is ready to be transcluded just yet. Its very close but consider:

  1. Do you have an infobox?
  2. Lead needs more beefing up: we need to clearly define who's in & why.
  3. For Current members: things like 'Active' needs to be specified as being within a PK band. Whereas 'Release contributions' include outside projects. '=>' should be replaced with prose e.g. 'left to join'.
  4. Overlap of Coloured Girls/Messengers requires an explanation sentence.
  5. Gaps in the chronology need covering: what was PK doing if there was no band?
  6. Once we've found done these we have to remember to fix the CATs and remove the alt. names for the article from the top edit lines. Don't use the re-direct trick: it causes probs later on.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 06:53, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
I've had a quick look at Category:Lists of members by band. Note, that very few are FL, e.g., List of Slipknot band members. There seems to be no consistency in the formatting of these lists of band members.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:18, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Not sure if the discog needs to be split off yet, but I agree separate articles about some of the albums would be justified. McWomble (talk) 07:39, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Gyroscope

Hey! A while ago you asked if i would like to collaborate with some of the Gyroscope articles, well now exams are over. I'll be away all next week, but for now i'm all good. I added the template about a week ago, looking at maybe getting into a discography tomorrow, what do you think? I also think one of the first things we need is some solid sources on their genres, a while back i did a quick search and couldn't find anything referring to post-grunge. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 11:01, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Machinations

For McF try 441, for Australian Charts Portal try Discography Machinations.

As for Kent Music Report I only have:

  • Machinations singles:
  • 03-May-82*HP-98*WI-01 - Average Inadequacy
  • 30-May-83*HP-21*WI-15 - Pressure Sway
  • 07-Nov-83*HP-59*WI-06 - Jumping the Gap
  • 24-Sep-84*HP-14*WI-19 - No Say in it
  • 27-May-85*HP-27*WI-14 - My Heart's on Fire
  • 16-Sep-85*HP-39*WI-13 - You Got Me Going Again
  • 14-Sep-87*HP-15*WI-25 - Do to You
  • 20-Jun-88*HP-44*WI-20 - Intimacy
  • 24-Oct-88*HP-69*WI-08 - Do it to Me

Sorry no albums, but will keep looking.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:19, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Finally found the KMR albums, if it's not too late:
  • Machinations albums:
  • 02-May-83*HP-54*WI-16 - Esteem
  • 15-July-85*HP-20*WI-22 - Big Music
  • 09-Jun-86*HP-83*WI-02 - The Big Beat (remixes of above album)
  • 31-Oct-88*HP-46*WI-07 - Uptown
Note that Uptown appeared on the ARIA charts at #50 on 20/11/1988 (see AusCharts link above).Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 20:15, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

HGd > FL? Yeah, have at it! Your first job is a wikitable for music videos with each director named/verified! I'll start with the prose in the Lead and then move on to tweak/up-date existing wikitables. TLE discography

Wow, that is awesome. Thanks a lot for that, i was pretty much out of ideas. A couple of twitches and maybe it could be up for FLC again, i'm just still not sure why it was rejected, they never really gave a reason and all the problems were fixed (minus the directors, which are not covered properly in a ton of featured discgos), it's just there was no support. Anyway, thanks for the help and enjoy your wikibreak :) k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 16:17, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

LH @ KMR

According to KMR charting for Little Heroes is as follows:

Little Heroes albums: 31-Aug-81*HP-81*WI-02 - Little Heroes 06-Sep-82*HP-37*WI-10 - Play By Numbers 26-Sep-83*HP-50*WI-10 - Watch the World

Little Heroes singles: 12-Apr-82*HP-12*WI-18 - One Perfect Day 09-Aug-82*HP-42*WI-13 - Young Hearts 10-Oct-83*HP-73*WI-04 - Watch the World 12-Dec-83*HP-51*WI-16 - Bon Voyage

Some of these differ from current article information (which contradicts itself e.g. "One Perfect Day" is #12 in main text but #11 in singles discog). McF is not as reliable as KMR for chart positions.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 23:36, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Bot logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Bot logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Repost of Nurcha Records

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Nurcha Records, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Australia Made Tour/Video

After we finish Models & associated articles, remind me to get one done for the Australian Made Tour. I've been meaning to get one going for ages but have been distracted and, regretfully, forgotten to get back to it.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 20:40, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Models: need some help

What do you know about M Hough? Found at Cut Lunch as a songwriter for "Man o' Action" (Kelly, M Hough)[1]

  1. ^ ""Man o' Action" at APRA search engine". Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA). Retrieved 2009-03-02.

Same name is also present on Local and/or General on same track and additional track "Drunk in the House" (not reffed yet). Not seen on other existing alb articles. Did a quick google but can't find much else.

Note: Ferrie goes by his middle name, Mark, but songwriting creds give full name when he's the lone writer or first (unused) initial for co-writings.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 21:57, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up on stiggs/hough. A better ref is Milesago at their Split Enz article.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 00:35, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Last Hoedown

Check ARDb at Models entry and check OzMusic On-line. Last Hoedown by The Clampetts / Clampetts, released on White Records (sub of Mushroom), catalogue no. L38818. Is this a Models release? or a side proj of S Kelly's? In any case, should it be in the Models article or only in S Kelly's?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:26, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm getting the same prob regarding refs for this release. It's a very curious entity with covers of country music hits. Meanwhile Matthews is off dueting with Ceberano.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 00:58, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Models out

Just lifted another Models' album, Out of Mind, Out of Sight to B-class. Added bits about Last Hoedown to main Models article as well as other tweaks. Will leave rest of members, albs & notable singles (e.g. "I Hear Motion", "Barbados" and "Out of Mind, Out of Sight") for others. I'm going to my sandbox to create an article for Australian Made Tour. See you there when you can.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:39, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Alternative covers

I saw your edit to Injuring Yourself Whilst Making Music. First of all, let me explain to you that to show a 3rd or 4th album cover you don't have to create a new template: the template "Extra album cover 2" is called #2 only because it is an upgrade from template "Extra album cover", but it can be used for additional covers too.

After fixing that I was surprised to reveal that the files "Gyro_injuring_purple.jpg" and "Gyro_injuring_yellow.jpg" don't exist at all. So I put that whole edit of you inside remark tags (like this: <!-- -->). As soon as you upload these files, remove the remark tags, and the article will show all covers.

If there is anything more I can help you with, just write me on my talk page. Debresser (talk) 13:23, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Australian Made

Moved Australian Made to mainspace. Thanks for your assistance.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 00:27, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

I've been a bit conservative and only rated it as C-class. Maybe it should be B-class? As for GA, it needs more claims nailed - hopefully more can be found in the Glenn A. Baker book? To fill-in time, I'm working on Baker's article: it was looking decidedly thin before I got there.
Speaking of thin, what about McF's article? Did I read somewhere that he drummed with Sean Kelly in Sabre, pre-Teenage Radio Stars (proto-Models)?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 10:28, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Oz Rock Journos

Concur with your thinking.

I see you've expanded Creswell, some of his books are available for limited preview at Google books. While Music Australia includes film/sound files as well as books. This adds details on the section re: Great Australian Albums e.g. he was writer/producer for the Triffs alb episode.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 12:04, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah on Kruger. Likewise we'll need Rolling Stone Australian but what about RAM or Juke do they deserve to have own articles?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:56, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Krug is up, I've popped a DYK notice too.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:05, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

In a similar vein, we should get up articles for David Kent and Australian Rock Database - I don't think Magnus should be separately articled: what do you reckon?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 02:25, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback on Krug: there's a lot on her website but verifying it from external 'reliable' sources was challenging. Some info is still missing, e.g. I can't find out whether she ever married/was partnered or had kiddlies.

Kent is proving a little more difficult, I've found very little on his background on the web but I'm still looking: Milesago seems to be the best source so far but deals mostly with his charts. I've found a David Kent who was born in 1942 and has written Aus military history works (both solo and coauthored) but not sure if its the same dude. Milesago shows that the KMR collator was listening to radio countdowns back in 1955 when "Rock Around the Clock" was young: so could be of similar vintage. In any case, I might have to be satisfied with a Start class article for him.

As for the TDL, do you have this posted on your User page? Or at WP:AUSMUS? Or is it just nailed onto the etheric plane next to mine? I'm starting to lose track of what I've said I'd do when something else rolls along to distract me.

Speaking of Milesago, they have pages on Australian Rolling Stone and its fore-runner Revolution. Kent, himself, wrote his Masters thesis on Go-Set, he also discusses these later magazines: available as an extract on Milesago from 2000 or in full as a PDF (282 pp.) at Canberra Uni from 2002.

But, I'm not going to be distracted yet as I'm still working on Kent!Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 23:55, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm still converting David Kent to David Kent (historian) in wikilinks: mostly in refs to Kent Music Report. Some bot would probably do it in a gizzillionth of a second but that's the way I am. As for Rolling Stone, I can't decide whether to use Rolling Stone Australia, Australian Rolling Stone (has an unfortunate acronym), Rolling Stone Australian edition or some other suggestion? I'm happy to see you pottering around in the sandbox looking for stones & moss - after all that what mates do best: help each other with the weeding.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 08:45, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Wiki has its own ideas try Rolling Stone and then Rolling Stone Magazine, which does wiki like?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 08:59, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
See, I knew you were good at weeding out those stones. Meanwhile I'm still trailing Kent all around the wikidom.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:12, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
bots? Meh. I'm having fun following Kent.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:23, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Its also an ego thing. I get to see some of the articles I popped a Kent ref into, some were popped by a guy called Dan arndt.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:36, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Well I'm shutting down for the night - expect to see amazing things when I log on in the morning.Dan arndt (talk) 09:39, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

DYK

On March 24, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Australian Made, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Somehow this credit was given to Skinny87 instead. I have no idea how that happened, but it appears you and Shaidar cuebiyar are the creators of this article. Gatoclass (talk) 00:35, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of WAM Song of the Year

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article WAM Song of the Year, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Minor award with no claim of notabilty

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.

NOTE: I'm just the messenger!Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 08:39, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

I've deleted the prod 'plate from WAM Song of the Year. On its talk page I've requested a stay of execution to enable you sufficient time to argue against its deletion which was due on 7 April.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:00, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Difficult woman

Otherwise known as Renée Geyer: if interested, I'm working on my sandbox copy. Just starting with usual beef up the WP:LEAD and supply in-line refs theory. Dive in whenever or wait for another wave.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:11, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Gotye-LearnalilgivinanlovinSingleFrontCover.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Gotye-LearnalilgivinanlovinSingleFrontCover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:21, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Birds-Of-Tokyo-G11.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Birds-Of-Tokyo-G11.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 00:04, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
