Wikipedia Asian Month 2017: Invitation to Participate
editHello! Last year, you signed up to participate in Wikipedia Asian Month (WAM) 2016 on the English Wikipedia. The event was an international success, with hundreds of editors creating thousands of articles on Asian topics across dozens of different language versions of Wikipedia.
I'd like to invite you to join us for Wikipedia Asian Month 2017, which once again lasts through the month of November. The goal is for users to create new articles on Asian-related content, each at least 3,000 bytes and 300 words in length. Editors who create at least four articles will receive a Wikipedia Asian Month postcard!
Also be sure to check out the Wikipedia Asian Art Month affiliate event - creating articles on Asian art topics can get you a Metropolitan Museum of Art postcard!
If you're interested, please sign up here for the English Wikipedia. If you are interested in also working on other language editions of Wikipedia, please visit the meta page to see other participating projects. If you have any questions, please visit our talk page.
Thank you!
- User:SuperHamster and User:Titodutta on behalf of The English Wikipedia WAM Team
This will be the last message you receive from the English Wikipedia WAM team for being a 2016 participant. If you sign up for WAM 2017, you will continue receiving periodic updates on the 2017 event.

editHello again, I believe the earlier message has created some confusion. If you have already submitted the details in the Google form, it has been accepted, you don't need to submit it again. The earlier reminder is for those who haven't yet submitted their Google form or if they any alternate way to provide their address. I apologize for creating the confusion. Thanks-Sailesh Patnaik
Rollback granted
editHi Dan arndt. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Widr (talk) 07:28, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer granted
editHello Dan arndt. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia; if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.
- URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
- Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
- Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
- Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Alex Shih (talk) 13:00, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
I think the response for my initial effort to add my Music information is was rather harsh and uncalled for. Unacceptable treatment. I think you all are not helpful at all. You need to be exposed for this type of thing and people need to know how difficult it is to work with Wikipedia and how inappropriate and offensive the response. This type of thing needs to be exposed. Instead of helping guide the user, you choose to criticize and attack the user. This will needs to be exposed. You qualify other musicians with half the credentials, yet you single mine out and return a snarky offensive response at my effort. This should be exposed. Wikipedia should be exposed for this type of behavior.

edit
This page and subject is just as notable as the Zodiac murders and all of the other unsolved murders in the USA, especially when committed by multiple parties of felons, as in this case with two known perpetrators according to the camera footage. (Photos are available of the suspects.) The news media even assigned a special name which will be cited by future researchers and become a part of criminal justice history: "The Drag Queen Killers." The "editor" who rejected this page has made a dumb mistake, just as was done years ago when I submitted a page for Pops Haney, the oldest enlisted man at Guadalcanal. I submitted essentially the exact same information -- (always well-referenced because I am a published author) -- that is now up on a Wikipedia page, years LATER, for the "Elmo M. Haney" listing page. I had the same idea years ago, and Wikipedia rejected it. What kind of "editors" do you have and who gave them this kind of arbitrary authority? It is a mistake, but if Wikipedia wants this reputation, so be it. It is exceedingly DUMB to reject this page that I submitted, which is documented by police department archives and the Las Vegas Review Journal archives. It is NOT a "one time news report"! I am not going to do your work for you, Wikipedia, though I freely gave you another good idea that would have improved your level of comprehensiveness in listings. Want to take bets that Wikipedia will eventually wake up and add this page that I have suggested, too, just like it did with Haney? This kind of low-brow "editor" treatment is exactly why Wikipedia has been banned by respectable colleges and has the reputation that it has today. Good luck to you all.

Hello, thanks for taking out the time to review the submission. It’s all try about Chris Quinn - search out Chris Quinn Music on YouTube to see him performing at many leading venues and with notable musicians. Anyway, we’ve added about 10 more links for you to check out including links to BBC 2, regional BBC sites, Acoustic Magazine (the uk’s leading authority on acoustic music), theatre gigs he has coming up, reviews from Leadong Music industry wesbiste/magazine and also to his PR company who have him listed on their front page. Hopefully this is enough for you. Thanks,
Gypsyjazzartists (talk) 12:06, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
Hi Dan, I’m an unpaid volunteer/fan who was surprised Chris Quinn - and soon to be added Robin Nolan - don’t have their own Wikipedia pages considering their standing in the world of Jazz. I contacted Gypsy Jaz artists who I known organises tours for both artists and offered to fix this but didn’t think it would be so difficult. Can you suggest how we can get these world class and notable artists accepted having referenced him on BBC radio 2 websites, major theatre websites and major industry magazine articles on their websites. Thanks

NPR Newsletter No.11 25 May 2018
editACTRIAL:
- WP:ACREQ has been implemented. The flow at the feed has dropped back to the levels during the trial. However, the backlog is on the rise again so please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day; a backlog approaching 5,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.
Deletion tags
- Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders. They require your further verification.
Backlog drive:
- A backlog drive will take place from 10 through 20 June. Check out our talk page at WT:NPR for more details. NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
Editathons
- There will be a large increase in the number of editathons in June. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
Paid editing - new policy
- Now that ACTRIAL is ACREQ, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. There is a new global WMF policy that requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.
Subject-specific notability guidelines
- The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
Not English
- A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, tag as required, then move to draft if they do have potential.
News
- Development is underway by the WMF on upgrades to the New Pages Feed, in particular ORES features that will help to identify COPYVIOs, and more granular options for selecting articles to review.
- The next issue of The Signpost has been published. The newspaper is one of the best ways to stay up to date with news and new developments. between our newsletters.

FLOW (American band)
editDan,
Thanks so much for jumping on the FLOW page. A point and a couple of questions:
- The group's name is FLOW, not Flow. All of their branding has FLOW. My sense is that we should stay consistent with that, right?
- I see you removed all of the links to artists that are working with FLOW, but not in Wikipedia. Is it inappropriate to have those external links? (this is the first page I've created: I've only edited pages in the past).
- I see you changed the name to Flow (American band). They're really not a "band" per se. Is there any reason why they couldn't be FLOW (American new age musical group)?
Thanks for your help!

Hon. instead of The Honourable
editHi Dan arndt, Could you please stop this ongoing conflict! I have given you evidence and reasons for why you should select The Honourable instead of abbreviating to Hon., and you haven't given me a reason other than the Hansard or the fact you want to keep your choice consistent. While I agree we don't have to follow the British way of doing it we also need to acknowledge the fact that is the style we use, after all we use the abbreviation MP instead of writing Member of Parliament in the suffix. Hope you understand this point and think a bit about it. It is going to take me some time as I cannot change the politicians articles of Sri Lankan politicians at once since I don' have the time, but with your assistance I hope we can do this together and keep things consistent with the rest of the world/commonwealth. - LionCountry25 (talk) 10:30, 19 June 2018 (UTC)

The Iustus Republic and micronations
editHello, I have seen the message that you have left on draft of The Iustus Republic and I would like to correct you that this page was not an attempt at being humorous or a hoax and judging by your message you did not even read the references. A micronation if you dint know is a self declared state that is not recognized by any member of The United Nations but fulfills are the requirements for state hood by The Montevideo Convention of 1933 in which the four requirements for state hood are a defined territory, a government, and a permanent population and we fulfill all of those requirements. There are in fact plenty of micronations out there and lots of them that are on wikipedia there is a whole list of them List of micronations so is there any chance of accepting it - Austin Jaax. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Austin Jaax (talk • contribs) 08:31, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
Hello!,I saw you declined the submission of this article. I understand why that happened. Here’s why I think I can prove the draft is going to be article quality. A lot of the information in the draft is from a tertiary source, MicroWiki. Micro wiki main page MicroWiki is similar to Wikipedia but focused on micronations with microwiki also having administrators that do regular checks on pages and well do there job. The Iustus Republic is a micronation, and this draft, hopefully an article in the future, is being made to show what Iustus is. Primary and secondary sources are needed for an article, and that’s what will be provided in the following weeks. Thank you and feel free to reply and we can chat about things! Your submission at Articles for creation: PSAV (Presentation Services Audio Visual) (July 9)
editI'm confused as to why this is not notable. -Largest AV services provider in existence. This piece of information alone makes the article noteworthy. -17000 locations of the company (like hotels it's partnered with). That's a LOT. -Owned by Goldman-Sachs. -A significantly profitable company that acquires new companies every other month.

First, thank you for taking the time to review my very first submission. I just need to be enlightened on this -- if I cannot use copyrighted materials as SOURCE, it would mean using dubious sources which I think is more scary, dont you think? Please advise. Again, thank you for the pointers.
The New York Times Non-Fiction Best Sellers of 1999 - rejection feedback
editI am trying to add to the set of Wikipedia Pages for The New York Times Non-Fiction Best Sellers by Year. Wikipedia currently has pages for 2000-2018, and a few years scattered between 1931 - 2000. I submitted a page for 1999, following the same style as the pages for years that had previously been reported and apparently approved. The reviewer denied the page saying 'Lacks significant coverage in multiple independent verifiable secondary sources'. The currently existing pages for 2000-2018 have very few references, all from the NYTimes itself and no other independent secondary source. I received this additional feedback about the post - "This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability". It's is unclear to me if this is referring to the content itself or just the reference material. The NYTimes best seller list is considered the preeminent list of best selling books and is used across the US as a benchmark for a book's success - it is undoubtedly notable information. How can I improve the page so that it's approved? Should the pages that exist now include more references? Thanks! Appreciate the assistance!Charmquark2 (talk) 15:42, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

I was under the impression I didn't have to just sit there and have my contributions hand-waved away and be called 'petty' by some keyboard warrior. What was an outburst about it? I simply responded to the comments made there, and the community's arrogant, selfish outlook and your avoidance of my question on a user that was openly pushing a nationalist agenda. Hello Dan arndt, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
- June backlog drive
Overall the June backlog drive was a success, reducing the last 3,000 or so to below 500. However, as expected, 90% of the patrolling was done by less than 10% of reviewers.
Since the drive closed, the backlog has begun to rise sharply again and is back up to nearly 1,400 already. Please help reduce this total and keep it from raising further by reviewing some articles each day.
- New technology, new rules
- New features are shortly going to be added to the Special:NewPagesFeed which include a list of drafts for review, OTRS flags for COPYVIO, and more granular filter preferences. More details can be found at this page.
- Probationary permissions: Now that PERM has been configured to allow expiry dates to all minor user rights, new NPR flag holders may sometimes be limited in the first instance to 6 months during which their work will be assessed for both quality and quantity of their reviews. This will allow admins to accord the right in borderline cases rather than make a flat out rejection.
- Current reviewers who have had the flag for longer than 6 months but have not used the permissions since they were granted will have the flag removed, but may still request to have it granted again in the future, subject to the same probationary period, if they wish to become an active reviewer.
- Editathons
- Editathons will continue through August. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
- The Signpost
- The next issue of the monthly magazine will be out soon. The newspaper is an excellent way to stay up to date with news and new developments between our newsletters. If you have special messages to be published, or if you would like to submit an article (one about NPR perhaps?), don't hesitate to contact the editorial team here.

Please note that IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service which once used to be ICS i.e. Indian Civil Service whereas PAS stands for Pakistan Administrative Service previously known as DMG or District Management Group. Please review the article, accordingly. Humble regards.JC Bills (talk) 07:09, 31 July 2018 (UTC)

Edits to Lynn de Silva
editHi Dan,
Thanks for your help with getting some of the full names and dates of birth/death included in the Lynn de Silva article. I was wondering where you got that information from, so that we could maybe cite it? In particular, where did you find the names of Lynn's father (John Simon de Silva), his brothers (Frederick Stanley and George Denzil), and their dates of birth, for example, 1868-1940 for John and 1904-1980 for Fred?
Many thanks, Ldesilva (talk) 09:10, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
Re-Review of Draft:Additional Chief Secretary Home
editPlease re-review my page Draft:Additional Chief Secretary Home. I have removed the biographic content from this page and added two references. The page just states as to what is the function of this official post. It comprises of: "Additional Chief Secretary (Home), previously referred to as the Home Secretary, is a senior official of BPS-22 who heads the Home Department and many other departments and attached departments concerned with Criminal justice system in the province of Punjab, Pakistan" only. As such, this page is not biography of someone for which we need to establish notability in accordance with GNG. It only describes functions of an official post in Government of Punjab, Pakistan. Foregoing in view, please consider, yet strictly on merit, if the page can be moved from draft to article space of Wikipedia. Otherwise, please guide further course of action in this regard.JC Bills (talk) 07:56, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
Howdy. It just hit me, as I was removing your three entries for the same draft at WP:Pages needing translation into English a few minutes ago, that it wasn't the first time you've posted a draft there. I just checked and this was about the tenth time you've done that. Do you monitor WP:PNT on your watchlist? It's been noted in the edit summary each time one of these entries has been removed that drafts are out of scope there. I figured I'd let you know here to save you the trouble of tagging any more of them.
WP:PNT serves the purpose of giving articles that aren't in English a two-week grace period before they're submitted for deletion. Drafts aren't in any danger of deletion on account of not being in English yet; being in another language is just another way in which a draft may not yet be suitable for article space.

Hello Dan, I had started this article with the belief that sources meeting the full standards of notability would not become available until after more attention was paid to the subject, seeing as he is a new author. Do you know of established pages that the draft could be merged with/added to, where there might be slightly less strict standards of notability? Lists of authors, for instance? Please give me your thoughts on this.

Respected Sir,I got your message for rejection of Innovations in Textiles,I appreciate your observations .Looking at it's importance for Textile community who are legging behind with in technologies, few innovations must be well informed to them.Kindly suggest is there any possibility to review definitely with correct details.or I should give up and let's forget the same.

Dear Dan arndt! Thank you for reviewing my article about Klaus T. Steindl. Referring to your reason for declining: Did you really see the last version, where I made a lot of improvements (no website and IMDb, instead a lot of external sources)? But: German Wikipedia accepts IMDb as a reliable source. IMDb is very well known in film business and is used as "international film encyclopedia". Documentaries of Klaus T. Steindl are mostly international coproductions shown all around the world (USA, Australia, Russia...) - but there are only very few sources in English language, so this is an essential source to prove the international notability of this person. I am a fan of high quality documentaries, my favorite is "Wild Venice", written and directed by Klaus T. Steindl (and as I know even broadcasted in Australia). Please take a look at my german wikipedia-article about Klaus T. Steindl. There you will find a lot more infos and sources, but my english i too poor for an encyclopedia so I hope, some film-interested native speaker will improve and expend the text - but therefore it has to exist at wikipedia! So please re-review my improved article and give other persons a chance to expend it! Best regards, wofuboWofubo (talk) 14:45, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

Dino Bardot Article Deletion
editHi Dan Arndt, I put citations for the fact that Dino was a member of 1990s, and sources for the fact that at least 2 of 1990s albums were made under Rough Trade Records. This makes Bardot qualify to have an article. Thanks, Bxnzedrine (talk) 07:20, 15 August 2018 (UTC)

Need help on Hitman Blues Band submission
editHi,
the submission was turned down because "Lacks independent verifiable sources need to establish whether it satisfies WP:NMUSICIAN. It is likely that if proof is provided establishing the band's Grammy nominations and international touring then that should be sufficient to satisfy the notability requirements."
The band was in the running for Grammy nominations, but did not get them (as stated in the article). If that should be left out, I can do that! Proof of international touring? They had multiple tours - what would be considered proof? There were plenty of articles reviewing shows, itineraries printed in numerous papers, airline ticket receipts (!) - what is needed?
There have also been many interviews in international papers, in many languages. Should they be included as proof? And why isn't the front cover of Blues In Britain not considered proof, or is it just not enough?
Also, is having a song on Rockband, albeit by a third party publisher, considered significant? There are YouTube posts that were put up of people playing it.
Finally, does having had some musicians famous in their own right (Bernard Purdie, Ray Alexander, etc.) record and perform with the band help meet the requirements?
I appreciate your time, I realize there are many criteria that must be met. I looked at the formatting and used the template to make the sidebar, but I'm not sure how that gets included in the article. It's all a bit confusing, and I'm very thankful for your assistance!
Savearainbow (talk) 21:11, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
I read your reply, but I'm at a loss as to how to provide the inline citations requested. The company that did the Rockband add-ons, Alt Strum productions, is no longer in business. But the YouTube videos are still up. The tours - should I link to online articles that reference that? Again, as far as the Grammy situation, the band had four albums that were in the running for Grammy nominations, but did not actually GET the nominations. We have no way of knowing how close it was. Should I just leave that out?
I appreciate your help, and apologize for my lack of expertise. But I want to do this right. There are a few inline citations in the article - how many are needed?
Thanks, and thanks for the quick response as well.
Savearainbow (talk) 01:56, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
Hi Dan,
I added some more references. There are live reviews, but they are published in subscription only pages online. Should I include those anyway? There are also a LOT of reviews in foreign magazines - Germany, France, Spain, etc. But they're not accessible online. Should I include them anyway? Also, how far back should I go? The band has been touring since 2004, and there are older reviews. One problem I'm having is a lot of reviews were from private websites (pre-blogs, but I guess you'd call them blogs) that no longer exist. Since blues is a niche market, there are fewer "mainstream" sites than with, say, pop. I included a Cashbox review because they've been around for over 50 years, so I'm hoping that qualifies a legitimate! Also, I included an article from the Richmond & Twickenham Times, which is published in both hard copy and online. They've been around since 1873, so that's pretty legit!
Finally, I don't know if this is worth adding. Scott Ian (Anthrax) mentions Russell Alexander in his autobiography, as Hitman was his first (and only) guitar teacher. If you think it's worth putting in as just an interesting bit, I can find out the page number and ISBN and all that stuff. It's a really nice few paragraphs, very complimentary.
Thanks again for your help.
Savearainbow (talk) 18:58, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
Grrrr - I'm having trouble because so many of their reviews, going back to 2000, are either not online anymore (although the sites are still there) or you have to have a subscription. For example, they got great reviews of their last release in Germany, France, Poland, Italy, and Spain - but they're not online, and the publicist gave them copies of the articles without the page numbers and dates of publication. So they're useless! And there are live reviews, but many are on blogs (which aren't valid but prevalent in the blues community). I'm going to add one more site - La Hora Del Blues - which has been around forever and reviews every blues artist you can think of. Should I resubmit after that or is it still not enough?
As always, thanks for the guidance!

- Can I use sources in a foreign language? Specifically an article in BBC Ukraine and a video of TV coverage from TV Channel Ukraine
- I included links to 2 videos from "ChessNetwork" who is the largest chess-themed YouTube channel by subscribers. Don't know if it qualifies as an appropriate source.

Dear Dan, thank you for supporting Wikipedia and volunteering to help. This is my very first time that I attempt to enter information on Wikipedia. I am not familiar with the protocols and policies as well as the technology to create articles. Hence, my mistakes you observe need attention and some specified guidance by you to rectify my errors. Would you be able and be the right person to rewrite the article as to meet the Wikipedia criteria?
All historical and factual data are embedded in the website itself to which I provided the links. It includes company registration number, physical office addresses, contact details as to provide proof of existence of the companies in their respective 'About Us' section. There are already articles about the Institute for Strategy and Complexity Management (ISCM), notably we presented at the ISSS 2011 our research results on why projects fail: http://isss.org/conferences/hull2011/2011_Program_Book.pdf and search in the file for Institute for Strategy and Complexity Management (ISCM, viewpointmodel). What is intended with the Wikipedia entry is to provide a reference to the work of the ISCM and how it evolved to put theory of Systems Thinking into practice. In our case to deal with job creation and societal well-being on the African continent. The challenge is huge and very complex. I wish to portray objectively the evolution of how a research organisation in strategic scenario planning, using state of the art computer modelling, wishes to contribute to good governance as to secure project implementation success. The ultimate goal is to document how we provide investors with mathematical tools insights to the driving forces that lead to implementation success - securing their funding for sustainable development on the African continent. Africa suffers from a lack of leadership excellence in terms of interpretation by western cultures. Such lack of required leadership excellence reinforces the cause of financial losses and the increased evidence of bribery and corruption. Nevertheless, it opens further hesitation by serious investors to place funding in Africa. This is a topic we wish to be dealt with by writing about our structure as to combat these influence factors. But also to put emphasis on recognising on all attempts of help from outside has failed dismally on Africa. Our work consists of presenting solutions listening to African viewpoints of self-determination, thereby identifying the driving forces for the investment and implementation success.
ISCM and its governance companies are not in the foreground but playing a significant role in guiding and routing the investments through its structure. Hence, the additional emphasis on the custodian's roles and the cooperation of an independent integrity platform during project execution. In the Wikipedia, we wish to have noted that ISCM is using such practises as to secure investor confidence. We observed that large politically biased organisations or initiatives have failed Africa by holding on socio-economic results only - neglecting cultural transformative aspects to the detriment of next generation development opportunities and have no tools to register such information in their planning.
I may have caused the wrong impression in my proposed Wikipedia content and hope the above context will rectify some of your observations, hence; you and other Wikipedia experienced authors could assist our charity and volunteer-based non-profit organisations to be noted in Wikipedia with an acceptable content and format.
Your support and comments are highly appreciated.
Warmest regards from the Netherlands, Zsolt Nyiri, chair ISCM Foundation Zsoltnyiri (talk) 09:13, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
Page move
editHi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Hultsdorp a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Hulftsdorp. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. NPR Newsletter No.13 18 September 2018
editHello Dan arndt, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
The New Page Feed currently has 2700 unreviewed articles, up from just 500 at the start of July. For a while we were falling behind by an average of about 40 articles per day, but we have stabilised more recently. Please review some articles from the back of the queue if you can (Sort by: 'Oldest' at Special:NewPagesFeed), as we are very close to having articles older than one month.
- Project news
- The New Page Feed now has a new "Articles for Creation" option which will show drafts instead of articles in the feed, this shouldn't impact NPP activities and is part of the WMF's AfC Improvement Project.
- As part of this project, the feed will have some larger updates to functionality next month. Specifically, ORES predictions will be built in, which will automatically flag articles for potential issues such as vandalism or spam. Copyright violation detection will also be added to the new page feed. See the projects's talk page for more info.
- There are a number of coordination tasks for New Page Patrol that could use some help from experienced reviewers. See Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Coordination#Coordinator tasks for more info to see if you can help out.
- Other
- A new summary page of reliable sources has been created; Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources/Perennial sources, which summarizes existing RfCs or RSN discussions about regularly used sources.
- Moving to Draft and Page Mover
- Some unsuitable new articles can be best reviewed by moving them to the draft space, but reviewers need to do this carefully and sparingly. It is most useful for topics that look like they might have promise, but where the article as written would be unlikely to survive AfD. If the article can be easily fixed, or if the only issue is a lack of sourcing that is easily accessible, tagging or adding sources yourself is preferable. If sources do not appear to be available and the topic does not appear to be notable, tagging for deletion is preferable (PROD/AfD/CSD as appropriate). See additional guidance at WP:DRAFTIFY.
- If the user moves the draft back to mainspace, or recreates it in mainspace, please do not re-draftify the article (although swapping it to maintain the page history may be advisable in the case of copy-paste moves). AfC is optional except for editors with a clear conflict of interest.
- Articles that have been created in contravention of our paid-editing-requirements or written from a blatant NPOV perspective, or by authors with a clear COI might also be draftified at discretion.
- The best tool for draftification is User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js(info). Kindly adapt the text in the dialogue-pop-up as necessary (the default can also be changed like this). Note that if you do not have the Page Mover userright, the redirect from main will be automatically tagged as CSD R2, but in some cases it might be better to make this a redirect to a different page instead.
- The Page Mover userright can be useful for New Page Reviewers; occasionally page swapping is needed during NPR activities, and it helps avoid excessive R2 nominations which must be processed by admins. Note that the Page Mover userright has higher requirements than the NPR userright, and is generally given to users active at Requested Moves. Only reviewers who are very experienced and are also very active reviewers are likely to be granted it solely for NPP activities.

Translation of drafts again
editHi, did you see the note I left here on August 1 about pages in Draft space that aren't in English? I drew your attention to the fact that drafts are out of scope at WP:Pages needing translation and that the {{Not English}} tag is therefore inapplicable to them. I just removed your latest entry, Draft:Selebriti Anti Narkoba Indonesia, from WP:PNT, and removed the {{Not English}} tag from that page. Largoplazo (talk) 15:56, 27 September 2018 (UTC)

I am trying to figure out what I'm missing in the article (my first) I'm writing about Terence Smith, a footballer with the USL Tulsa Roughnecks.
The comments left after the article was declined indicate:
1) Terence is not notable. Yet on the same page I see info that players for professional sports teams are automatically considered notable. Mr. Smith does appear on the published roster for the team in question. I will be including a link in his page that goes directly back to the roster for clarity. I'm not sure how else to show that he is currently playing, other than to show the team's press release stating they signed him, and their current roster showing him as an active player. Do you have a suggestion for me?
2) The references are not in the form of footnotes. I have use the "Cite" button on the toolbar, then pasted the URL of the published news story that was my source. Does this not auto-generate a footnote? Can you please help, I don't know what step I'm missing. I'm going to try manually editing the notes to make the footnote appear slightly differently, in hopes that this meets your approval.

Hi Dan, thank you for a quick review and reply. From what I'm reading, the references I included were not "secondary" sources not independent of Jay Jones. I've added 2 more that I'm hoping would suffice. As you will see, one is an article from the South Florida Times newspaper specifically about Jay Jones, and the other is another mention from Lil Wayne/Young Money's website which is the official record label. If you look into the content you will see that he is officially with Young Money and a Lil Wayne artist. Hopefully this helps. If not, is it more of a "notoriety" issue? Thanks Dan.

Thank you for your comments. It has been a month since you left your review. - hi we have absolutely same problem, it is like wikipedia refusing to publish game titles without strong marketing and or paid reviews elsewhere. we have thousands of downloads daily, people just using app, they rate and review on appstore and from my point of view everything above mentioned is waste of time for the users, thats why we did not create fb,tw,in,xy,yz social pages...
- wiki building world standard that you must be 'social' and build all the nonsense promo and marketing around. this all keeping big companies at the top and smaller studios are disadvantaged. a little example is google and their services, app with wiki record will be at higher than without, it is under a spell loop. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mouseforcats (talk • contribs) 09:15, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
i know that if you rejecting pages every few minutes that it is rutine for you, but try to imagine you are new user here. please specify which informations you need to verify! Hi Dan
editYou rejected my article on Rustom Palia because it was a report of a single event. That seems fair enough. However, since you're an Aussie, I'd like to bring up an interesting counterexample. The Joe the Cameraman article was deemed to be noteworthy enough even though he was famous for a single incident involving the cricketer Shane Warne. Hello Dan arndt, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
- Backlog
As of 21 October 2018[update], there are 3650 unreviewed articles and the backlog now stretches back 51 days.
- Community Wishlist Proposal
- There is currently an ongoing discussion regarding the drafting of a Community Wishlist Proposal for the purpose of requesting bug fixes and missing/useful features to be added to the New Page Feed and Curation Toolbar.
- Please join the conversation as we only have until 29 October to draft this proposal!
- Project updates
- ORES predictions are now built-in to the feed. These automatically predict the class of an article as well as whether it may be spam, vandalism, or an attack page, and can be filtered by these criteria now allowing reviewers to better target articles that they prefer to review.
- There are now tools being tested to automatically detect copyright violations in the feed. This detector may not be accurate all the time, though, so it shouldn't be relied on 100% and will only start working on new revisions to pages, not older pages in the backlog.
- New scripts
- User:Enterprisey/cv-revdel.js(info) — A new script created for quickly placing {{copyvio-revdel}} on a page.

Sarah Scantlin
editYour rejection is not helpful or wise. Sarah Scantlin is the most remarkable, known case of this medical condition. She is not notable because she died. It is not a memorial page. She is notable because she is one of a kind in the world. I was disappointed that i could not find an article about her in wikipedia. So I made one. I don't know who made you wiki-king or why you would reject this amazing, one-of-a-kind medical phenomena Cap263 (talk) 05:46, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Hello Dan arndt,
- Community Wishlist Survey – NPP needs you – Vote NOW
- Community Wishlist Voting takes place 16 to 30 November for the Page Curation and New Pages Feed improvements, and other software requests. The NPP community is hoping for a good turnout in support of the requests to Santa for the tools we need. This is very important as we have been asking the Foundation for these upgrades for 4 years.
- If this proposal does not make it into the top ten, it is likely that the tools will be given no support at all for the foreseeable future. So please put in a vote today.
- We are counting on significant support not only from our own ranks, but from everyone who is concerned with maintaining a Wikipedia that is free of vandalism, promotion, flagrant financial exploitation and other pollution.
- With all 650 reviewers voting for these urgently needed improvements, our requests would be unlikely to fail. See also The Signpost Special report: 'NPP: This could be heaven or this could be hell for new users – and for the reviewers', and if you are not sure what the wish list is all about, take a sneak peek at an article in this month's upcoming issue of The Signpost which unfortunately due to staff holidays and an impending US holiday will probably not be published until after voting has closed.

editHello Dan arndt,
- Reviewer of the Year
This year's award for the Reviewer of the Year goes to Onel5969. Around on Wikipedia since 2011, their staggering number of 26,554 reviews over the past twelve months makes them, together with an additional total of 275,285 edits, one of Wikipedia's most prolific users.
- Thanks are also extended for their work to JTtheOG (15,059 reviews), Boleyn (12,760 reviews), Cwmhiraeth (9,001 reviews), Semmendinger (8,440 reviews), PRehse (8,092 reviews), Arthistorian1977 (5,306 reviews), Abishe (4,153 reviews), Barkeep49 (4,016 reviews), and Elmidae (3,615 reviews).
Cwmhiraeth, Semmendinger, Barkeep49, and Elmidae have been New Page Reviewers for less than a year — Barkeep49 for only seven months, while Boleyn, with an edit count of 250,000 since she joined Wikipedia in 2008, has been a bastion of New Page Patrol for many years.
See also the list of top 100 reviewers.
- Less good news, and an appeal for some help
The backlog is now approaching 5,000, and still rising. There are around 640 holders of the NPR flag, most of whom appear to be inactive. The 10% of the reviewers who do 90% of the work could do with some support especially as some of them are now taking a well deserved break.
- Really good news - NPR wins the Community Wishlist Survey 2019
At #1 position, the Community Wishlist poll closed on 3 December with a resounding success for NPP, reminding the WMF and the volunteer communities just how critical NPP is to maintaining a clean encyclopedia and the need for improved tools to do it. A big 'thank you' to everyone who supported the NPP proposals. See the results.
- Training video
Due to a number of changes having been made to the feed since this three-minute video was created, we have been asked by the WMF for feedback on the video with a view to getting it brought up to date to reflect the new features of the system. Please leave your comments here, particularly mentioning how helpful you find it for new reviewers.

editHi Dan, how are you? Really glad to see that you're still working on the Sri Lankan political biographies. All the work you have done is amazing, thank you for your hard work! I have another project I thought you might be interested in! I've been creating the biographies of all the Justices of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka since its inception, and been organising the Judiciary of Sri Lanka here on Wiki (pretty much creating the whole thing). You don't have to but your welcome to help, its an interesting project so I thought it might grab your attention. I've already organised much of it to make work easier.
Also this: Electoral districts of Sri Lanka (1947–1989) might help you for work on the politicians. Looking forward to hearing from you.--Blackknight12 (talk) 02:31, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Could you remove the speedy-deletion tag from the draft ? The draft does suffer from close paraphrasing but is not a complete c/p of the source you mentioned. G-12 should only be used when there is no salvageable material in the page. Regards. — fr ❄ 05:20, 27 December 2018 (UTC)

Quite some library you have there; I started the article in response to a newspaper arts editor friend who was playing her old records, and I remembered the "Private Lives" single, and wondered "oh, what does Wikipedia say about them?" Dan arndt (talk) 02:57, 25 January 2019 (UTC)Draft: The Chalybeate Spring at Mittagong, NSW
editHi Dan, I notice that you have moved my draft 'The Chalybeate Spring at Mittagong NSW' to 'Chalybeate Springs, New South Wales' and I understand that you are trying to meet some naming conventions. There is a problem with the new name. The article is not about all the 'chalybeate springs' - a generic term as in the Wikipedia article Chalybeate - in New South Wales, but just one spring that was called 'The Chalybeate Spring' at Mittagong, NSW. So, in meeting the naming convention the new name no longer conveys what is being described in the article. Can you have a think about this and reconsider the name and try to find something closer to what the article is about. Happy to try and meet conventions - that's a good thing - but still need a title that fits the content.
Thanks, --TrimmerinWiki (talk) 02:14, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi Dan, Thank you for the suggestion that 'Chalybeate Spring, New South Wales' i.e. the singular form could be a suitable title. I understand fully why you want to enforce the convention and would be more than happy with the singular-form title (in the absence of other articles on other chalybeate springs in New South Wales). Much appreciated. Thanks, --TrimmerinWiki (talk) 04:51, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

I am scared I will forget about it if I do not hear back from someone about whether it is ok to be created. I would appreciate if you would please look at it. 犬ヶ崎 (talk) 09:59, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
Article Draft Copyright Question
editNew Article Draft Question Copyright
Dan, thanks for reviewing my draft of Hongju Lee clan. I can find the necessary references. I have a generalquestion about articles. If someone else were to publish this article in Wiki what rights does the original author have in regards to the content of the article? I am concerned that someone/something may create an article on that subject and then block others they disagree with. Thank you. Article rejection O.A.K. Sundar
editHi Can you provide more information on why it was rejected. It will be helpful to improve it and resubmit if there was reason associated with it. I had improved it by providing references based on earlier feedback from user Boleyn
Just went back and saw your comments on feedbacks. Just confused. This actor has acted in numerous movies as a support actor so his name doesn't popup much in news articles. Not sure exactly how to source more references. Can link to YouTube videos of his acting to specific minute. Does this mean an actor without top billing cannot have a wiki page? Thanks for taking your time to review submissions and adding feedback. It helps newcomers.

Article Rejection
editHi, you commented that it needs more secondary sources for reference. However, this article is about a TV show, whose reference is naturally mainly from its original channel's website. A somewhat similar show, Car SOS is in the same situation, which has main reference from NGC UK website. So, why should this one be rejected? --Heris (talk) 01:08, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi Dan, you reject a page that i was creating for my grandfather Arthur San Juan (Known as Art rease), i do have birth certificates and things like that to ensure that indeed it's my grandfather, ando also there were comments on the site that the picture of him was a Studio Shoot picture, of course, i wasn't born, when he took this picture. I got it from my mom, who got it from her mom years ago. Any help on how to solve the situation to publis the web will be appreciated. Jessica A Newell
editGiving it a second look, I think you rejected it because it was lacking references. We have the US Copyright documents for her songs so do I create a Bibliography/reference page at the end of the article and add info identifying the copyrighted material? I also referenced iTunes, Amazon Music, Spotify and YouTube. Her song “Stay” is also searchable on these media outlets just go on iTunes and search for Stay by Jessica Newell. Isn’t that a source reference? I’d also like to add a thumbnail picture. I tried to download but it was blocked. How can I fix the post and not have it rejected? Dan, writing on Wikipedia seems a little cryptic to me. Was trying to figure out why the Biography I added for my daughter was rejected. I used the Wikipedia bio of Sabrina Carpenter and Hunter Plake as examples and held true to the format. Plus it’s hard to tell if you want me to make edits and resubmit or what? Also I wanted to add a Thumbnail picture like other artists too. My email: chris.newell06@gmail.com. Can you email me as it’s less cryptic? Easier to figure out. Thanks Chris. Appreciate your guidance.

Order of the Silver Bat draft
editHello, I have just read your comment on my draft article "Order of the Silver Bat". I am not entirely certain why you believe it to be a hoax considering that the article is fully cited to official and reliable sources. The nature of the Order has meant that internet coverage has been near inexistent, I'd appreciate it if you could rectify this misunderstanding.

Handy Backup draft
editHello, Dan! I just readed your statement about declining my article "Handy Backup". I'm a fan of this small backup software, and I guess why it has no article in Wikipedia about it; therefore, I want to make a small but good article about it. You put a statement that my article is an advertisement; I have no such intentions but I guess how to rework my text to make it more "neutral". All information and reviews in Internet about this product, including such resources as PCMag and PCworld, is positive (up to advertising intentions), and how I can make a "neutral and objective" opinion when I have only such sources?
In addition, I have used such pages as Iperius Backup as an example, and in my opinion, these pages have more "advertising" intentions than my page. What the page I must use as an example of a "good" article about backup software? Best regards, Loonieeex

Cut and paste move
editHi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Prime Minister's Cottage a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Prime Minister's Lodge.
Thank you. Dear reviewer.
As new to wikipedia please accept my apologies if I ask questions that seem naive or simple to answer. Issue is that i created a draft page for Hellenic malt Whisky Society and it is rejected due to lack of references.
As a Society based in Greece, we do have more than 9 years of history as a dedicated group and more than 13 years of involvement with whisky tasting and appreciation.
But, all these years we used our whiskyforum in order to support our tasks and (the word is not correct but we can use it) to advertise our events, knowledge basis etc.
To this aim, there exist articles that refer to whiskyforum which is officially powered and supported and of course owned by HMWS.
We have articles in Greek-radar.gr / zougla.gr https://www.zougla.gr/blog/article/235723 / the world No1 resource for whisky, the famous whiskyfun page owned by Serge Valentine http://www.whiskyfun.com/Whisky-Links.html / a mention about the best Greek forums in toxrisimo.gr https://www.toxrisimo.gr/2018/09/ta-kalutera-ellhnika-forum.html?m=1
Still, I cannot really understand what is needed to have an "official" reference to HMWS. Please advise.

editHello Dan arndt,
- News
- The WMF has announced that Google Translate is now available for translating articles through the content translation tool. This may result in an increase in machine translated articles in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to use the {{rough translation}} tag and gently remind (or inform) editors that translations from other language Wikipedia pages still require attribution per WP:TFOLWP.
- Discussions of interest
- Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
- {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
- A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
- There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
- Reminders
- NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
- NPP Tools Report
- Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
- copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
- The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.

You rejected the draft article that someone created last October. I think that may have been in error. One of their videos has 23 million views on YouTube, another has 8 million, another has 6 million, and so forth. They've been around for years, have toured Europe, they have played at WOMAD and elsewhere. There are articles about them even in the Danish and Hungarian Wikipedias, and obviously in Russian Wikipedia. I think that deletionism was an overreaction. -- P.T. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Savoy Cinema, Colombo, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Cinema (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). editHello Dan arndt,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
Niharika Kohli, a product manager for the growth team, announced that work is underway in implementing improvements to New Page Patrol as part of the 2019 Community Wishlist and suggests all who are interested watch the project page on meta. Two requested improvements have already been completed. These are:
- Allow filtering by no citations in page curation
- Not having CSD and PRODs automatically marked as reviewed, reflecting current consensus among reviewers and current Twinkle functionality.
- Reliable Sources for NPP
Rosguill has been compiling a list of reliable sources across countries and industries that can be used by new page patrollers to help judge whether an article topic is notable or not. At this point further discussion is needed about if and how this list should be used. Please consider joining the discussion about how this potentially valuable resource should be developed and used.
- Backlog drive coming soon
Look for information on the an upcoming backlog drive in our next newsletter. If you'd like to help plan this drive, join in the discussion on the New Page Patrol talk page.
- News
- Following a request for comment, the subject-specific notability guideline for pornographic actors and models (WP:PORNBIO) was removed; in its place, editors should consult WP:ENT and WP:GNG.
- Discussions of interest
- A request for bot approval for a bot to patrol two kinds of redirects
- There has been a lot discussion about Notability of Academics

Bandaranayake College Gampaha
editThank you for your past edits. You had recently removed the Clubs & Societies and the Sports sections from Bandaranayake College Gampaha stating they are extra details. But most of the schools in Sri Lanka have those details, So I was wondering if it'll be alright to reinstate those details. Sahan0710 (talk) 14:39, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for looking towards our school article. I was wondering why these details (Clubs and Societies) were removed from Bandaranayake College Gampaha while it is available in the Sinhala language article itself. So it creates a difference between the English and Sinhala translations of the article. And also Clubs and Societies of Bandaranayake College Gampaha has some differences than other schools. So we are interested in noting them exclusively in the English article. ThathsaraWTh (talk) 04:05, 26 May 2019 (UTC)

DGG ( talk ) 00:27, 29 June 2019 (UTC)New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019
editHello Dan arndt,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.
- QUALITY of REVIEWING
Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.
- Backlog
The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.
- Move to draft
NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.
- Notifying users
Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.
- PERM
Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.
- Other news
School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.
Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.

Thanks for source - Family Gear
editThanks for the source on Yankee Bicycle Company. I will incorporate it into the draft article on Yankee Bicycle Company - probably under a new section about the founder Royce Husted .I searched high and low. Just so I learn to do better research, what sequence did you use to find this article?
FYI - I volunteer at Working Bikes and we received this odd bike - turned out to be a Yankee Bike. None of us had seen anything like this bike. It was in superb shape needing only a clean up. We put it onto the "as is" bike pile and it was picked up for only $45 within half an hour. From your source, I'm guessing, they built maybe only 3,000 bikes (I'm hoping additional contributing editors will come up with a better count supported by a good source). A Working Bikes customer got a great deal for a collector bike! If I had known what it was I would have bought it myself at that price for the bragging rights and maybe the investment op - saw one ad, since doing the research, requesting $350. Dereck Stewart
editHello Dan, I just wrote my first Wikipedia entry about the first African American heading the THP. Unfortunately it was rejected. But I can't understand the reasons. Could you please give me some hints? That would be fantastic! (Mauerwerk (talk) 20:15, 16 July 2019 (UTC))
Hello Dan, thanks for your reply! I still struggle with the concept of a "notable achievement". How is it defined by Wikipedia? Doesn't the fact the organisation exist for 89 years, yet that Dereck Stewart is its first African-American head demonstrate that he accomplished a "notable achievement"? (Mauerwerk (talk) 06:58, 18 July 2019 (UTC))
Hello Dan, it's me again. I still wonder about the "notable achievement" characteristic. Let's take for instance "M. H. Sims". He was head football coach for the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats. To me this is a far smaller achievement than becoming the first African-American presiding the THP. Hence, could you please provide me with a definition of "notable achievement" or with some links etc.? That would be fantastic! Thanks & cheers! (Mauerwerk (talk) 05:47, 19 July 2019 (UTC))
Reject vs. decline
editArticles for creation submitters have been asking a lot of questions at the AfC Help Desk about drafts you've rejected. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, it shows you're reviewing many drafts, which is much appreciated.
But on some, such as User:Mikedc73/Mornington Cinema, you are sending mixed messages. The reject option (as opposed to merely decline) should be reserved for "topics entirely unsuitable for Wikipedia" – subjects that will never, ever, under any circumstances, be accepted, no matter how much the author edits them. If there's anything they can do to "fix" the draft, as you tell them in your comment on this example, then the draft should not be rejected, but should be declined, so they can resubmit it after correcting the problem. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:00, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
@Dan arndt:, I'd like to echo the concerns above regarding your use of 'reject' instead of 'decline'. The idea behind introducing the 'reject' option was so that if the author repeatedly re-submits a draft without addressing the issues raised in the decline messages then we can send a clear message of 'STOP' to the author. It can also be used when a draft has zero hope of ever becoming an article. It wasn't intended to be used where the author could improve the draft such as by adding references that show that the subject is notable. Can you engage with us here in response to these concerns? Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 10:52, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Dan arndt: - I just wanted to drop my own concerns on this - I handle a lot of queries on AFC/HD where this shows up. You're always right that they shouldn't be accepted, but a significant number of those tagged reject could probably be articles if sourced properly. Nosebagbear (talk) 10:55, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
- There are now four comments from four different editors (five if you include me) spanning two weeks regarding this issue, and yet I do not see any reply or attempts to curb the number of rejections. As you may have seen I reverted one of your reviews yesterday as it was not appropriate to reject out-of-hand. I would really like to see a response with your thoughts and comments here before I kick it up the chain and go to WP:AFC for a larger group discussion. Primefac (talk) 11:30, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
- Make that six. I've helped several people on IRC who have had trouble understanding your reviews with extremely short comments and selected reasons often entirely omitted. The goal isn't to make the backlog number lower at all costs; it's to help new editors. KSFT (t|c) 03:17, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
- I've opened a thread regarding these concerns. Primefac (talk) 18:41, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Rather than respond to the above concerns individually I have posted a reply on the thread created by Primefac. Dan arndt (talk) 02:22, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

editDan, I am a different user than the one who initially submitted these pages. I have updated the competition with draws for the first two rounds, which were unknown at the time of the original submission. I am hoping this is satisfactory to get these pages added, and I'm sure additional source links will be added once the page is live. These competitions start very soon, it would be nice to have them posted as in past years.
[Update] Sorry, messed up the links to the draft pages. Should be fixed now.

The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Sonny West (musician). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Sonny West (musician)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Hello there. You declined my draft saying it duplicates content at Wikipedia:Vandalism, but I feel like you did not clarify how my essay duplicates content. I searched through the entire policy to look for anything about reacting to someone who reverted vandalism before another editor in an edit conflict. Can you please pinpoint where the content of my essay is located in the policy. Also, if ever you are right, I will, if possible, move the essay to my userspace, so I would like information about that to. I hope you see this and reply, which I would appreciate. Non-free rationale for File:Lolly Gobble Bliss Bomb.jpeg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to File:Lolly Gobble Bliss Bomb.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ubcule (talk) 13:19, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
- Additional notes; Thank you for your contribution. However, I've had to convert the license on this from "PD" to "non-free fair use" as it's a straightforward reproduction of copyrighted product packaging, and only usable here under those terms.
- Can you please add the rationale for its inclusion in both article it's currently featured in?
- Personally, I'm not 100% sure if it belongs in List of popcorn brands, as there is some dispute over how many- if any- non-free images can be used in list articles. See here for more details if you want it included. Thanks, Ubcule (talk) 13:19, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
- I notice that you removed the {{Di-no fair use rationale}} template and altered the {{Non-free product cover}} one to indicate that a rationale had been supplied.
- However, this hasn't actually been done for either article the image appears in.
- I'm guessing this is an oversight and that- since you appear to be an experienced user- you're familiar with how to add the rationale. However, if you require help, please don't hesitate to ask via the usual channels. Thanks,

Hi! Thank you for looking at my article, I appreciate your feedback. I see on the Wikipedia music notability guidelines page the following criteria for notability: (that the artist) Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart. Vic Sage had a single in Spotify's viral 50 chart in Canada and Australia. Also, his album Low Key was on Apple Music's top 100 chart. I understand that Spotify and Apple Music on their own are not reliable references, however their charts are newly becoming benchmarks of who is sharing music digitally in the US and worldwide. Would focusing on the artist's album and song that made it on those charts help? Thank you!! (ITLRosanna (talk) 13:59, 22 August 2019 (UTC))

Is there any way that I can cite the social media uploads since there is no articles that mention the dates?

Editor of journal vs Volumes
editHi Dan,
Thanks for your feedback regarding what I am editing (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Shyam_Wuppuluri). Let me clarify a couple of things:
- Firstly he is not an editor of journal but has published five highly interdisciplinary volumes with Springer which are widely received.
- The subject does meet the notability standards “The person's academic work has made a significant impact in the area of higher education, affecting a substantial number of academic institutions.” Could you elaborate on what you’re exactly looking for?
Also, if I may ask, are you from academia or do you have some background in science?
Many thanks,

Created Pages Moved To Edit
editI recently created 3 new pages (2019-20 FA Cup Qualifying Round, 2019-20 FA Trophy and 2019-20 FA Vase) these were then moved to Draft as they lacked and do "not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published." I then added a source (the only one available at the moment for each page and yet again they were moved to Draft.
If that's the case can you then please tell me why the pages for 2018-19 FA Trophy and 2018-19 FA Vase remain available to be published as Trophy page has no linked references and the Vase page only has one linked reference?
Last seasons pages were created around the same time last year and without references with one of those pages (2018-19 FA Trophy) still having no references, so why where they allowed to be displayed but not now?
New Page Review newsletter September-October 2019
editHello Dan arndt,
- Backlog
Instead of reaching a magic 300 as it once did last year, the backlog approaching 6,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.
- Coordinator
A proposal is taking place here to confirm a nominated user as Coordinator of NPR.
- This month's refresher course
Why I Hate Speedy Deleters, a 2008 essay by long since retired Ballonman, is still as valid today. Those of us who patrol large numbers of new pages can be forgiven for making the occasional mistake while others can learn from their 'beginner' errors. Worth reading.
- Deletion tags
Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon (you will need to have 'Nominated for deletion' enabled for this in your filters) may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders using Twinkle. They require your further verification.
- Paid editing
Please be sure to look for the tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. WMF policy requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.
- Subject-specific notability guidelines' (SNG). Alternatives to deletion
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves once more with notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
- Blank-and-Redirect is a solution anchored in policy. Please consider this alternative before PRODing or CSD. Note however, that users will often revert or usurp redirects to re-create deleted articles. Do regularly patrol the redirects in the feed.
- Not English
- A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, and if they do have potential, tag as required, then move to draft. Modify the text of the template as appropriate before sending it.
- Tools
Regular reviewers will appreciate the most recent enhancements to the New Pages Feed and features in the Curation tool, and there are still more to come. Due to the wealth of information now displayed by ORES, reviewers are strongly encouraged to use the system now rather than Twinkle; it will also correctly populate the logs.
Stub sorting, by SD0001: A new script is available for adding/removing stub tags. See User:SD0001/StubSorter.js, It features a simple HotCat-style dynamic search field. Many of the reviewers who are using it are finding it an improvement upon other available tools.
Assessment: The script at User:Evad37/rater makes the addition of Wikiproject templates extremely easy. New page creators rarely do this. Reviewers are not obliged to make these edits but they only take a few seconds. They can use the Curation message system to let the creator know what they have done.
DannyS712 bot III is now patrolling certain categories of uncontroversial redirects. Curious? Check out its patrol log.

- Mystic-One, WP:NALBUM has a pretty detailed list of ways to demonstrate that an album is notable. The sources you have used to verify the information may not be problematic, but they do not show that the album was "notable" per our guidelines. In other words, what makes this album important? This is what you need independent, in-depth sources for. Primefac (talk) 16:36, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

Here is the link to the proof of this on IMDB: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/imdb-credit-eligibility-faq/GXMWNMB8LQCZYFH8?ref_=helpart_nav_10#
• “I worked on a film/episode/etc. Can I be listed in the database?
If you worked on a film, video, TV show, episode, or game that is already listed in the database and you received on-screen credit, you should be eligible to be listed on IMDb. If we list the title but your name or credit does not yet appear on its IMDb page, you are welcome to submit it for inclusion.
• What do you mean by "eligible"?
As stated above, the first and most important thing is to have received a credit on the title. There are a few additional requirements -- we normally only list people who were credited in the original version of a title. For films, this means we'll only list people credited in the initial original theatrical release; for TV titles, it means people credited when the show first aired. In other words, we will not list individuals who worked and/or are only credited in the home video version, in the DVD deleted scenes, or in any other subsequent version. Also, we do not list credits for foreign language versions of a film (dubbing, dialogue editing, translations etc.), with the exception of the US dub of non-English animation.
• I have worked on a film/show/episode that you do not list. What now?
We can only add credits to titles that are already in the database. If the title is not yet listed, you are welcome to submit it as a new entry and our editors, upon verification of its eligibility, will add it to the database. You can (and should) submit your credit on the show at the same time. A separate FAQ page for new title submissions can be found here.
• My credit should be there -- why doesn't it show?
The vast majority of credits are submitted by users and/or people connected with the production of a title. If your credit is not there, it probably just means nobody submitted it yet. You are more than welcome to submit it yourself. You do not have to wait for the producers or the director of the film to send it: just find the title in the database, click on the Edit page button at the bottom of that page and follow the on-screen instructions.
• My credit used to be listed but now it's gone! Why?
When a title is announced or in production and is added to the database, our editors will normally start accepting credits for it. These credits, as per the disclaimer on the page, are always subject to change and can be removed at any time. When the title is actually released (or about to be released) and credits are finalized by the production, our editors routinely compare our listing with the actual on-screen credits and delete any entries that cannot be verified or do not match. If you used to be listed on a title and your credit has disappeared, it means our editors could not verify its accuracy during one of these routine checks.
• But I was in the title! Put it back!
If you think your credit was removed by mistake, you are welcome to resubmit it. However, please note that our editors may not accept it unless it can be verified.
• I can prove that I worked on the title. Why won't you list my credit?
We try to list everyone who was credited on each title. "Credited" means that your name appears in the title's opening or end titles and therefore you received on-screen billing. If your name does not appear in the credits, please see our uncredited appearance guidelines. If you were not credited you can submit your entry and add (uncredited) in the Attributes field. Please be aware, however, that acceptance of these submission is entirely at our editors' discretion.
• My contract says that I'm entitled to a screen credit. Isn't that enough?
Our experience is that sometimes people do not receive on-screen billing, even when a credit is contractually mandated. This could be due to accidental omissions or subsequent contractual changes -- regardless of the reason and of any contractual stipulations, we aim to list credits as they appear on-screen.
• I worked on a title and I was credited! How do I prove that to you?
First, you should resubmit the update via the site. You can go back to your original update in your update history and edit it and re-send it. You should double check that the entry does fulfill our eligibility requirements and provide additional information for our editors. You can do so via the IMDb Get Satisfaction User Community Platform. When you click on the Edit page button at the bottom of the page for the person or film you are trying to update, scroll down to the bottom of the submission form and check the "Miscellaneous Comment" or "Miscellaneous Correction" options. Then, on the next page, select the appropriate option from the drop-down menu (e.g., if you are adding a comment for an acting credit, select "Actor" or "Actress"; if you are adding a comment regarding a screenwriting credit, select "Writer", etc.) and type your comment in the text field. Everything you enter here will be sent directly to the staff in charge of that section of data on the site (and will not show up on the site -- this is for internal communication only). If you want to provide additional information to help us accept your submission, this is the way to do it.
• How can I provide proof that my submission is valid?
Please keep in mind that we require verification of on-screen billing. In other words, we do not just want verification that you were involved in the making of a film -- we want evidence that your name appears in the main or end titles. Cast/crew call sheets, contracts, payment receipts, etc. are not evidence of on-screen billing. If you are able to prove that the credit does appear on screen (e.g., by providing a screener copy or a screen grab of the credits or similar materials), please contact us and we'll give you further instructions.
• I don't want to be bothered with this. I assure you that the data is correct and I demand that you take my word and accept it.
Sorry, nothing personal -- but if our staff has not allowed your submission the first time around, it means that they will need verification before they can accept it. Also please remember that all submissions are subject to our editorial approval -- while we do our best to be as comprehensive and exhaustive as possible, we reserve the right to reject or withdraw information at any time at our sole discretion.
• I deserved an on-screen credit, but I was left out by mistake. You should list me anyway, since I worked on/appeared in it.
We list credits as they appear on screen, regardless of what job was performed, so as to not involve IMDb in disputes over who deserved credits. If you did not receive an on-screen credit, you may be eligible for an (uncredited) credit (subject to editorial approval). See our uncredited guidelines for more details.
• If my credit is not eligible, then why do you list these other guys who performed the same job as I did and were not credited either?
It is entirely possible that their credits are ineligible too and that they should not be listed. If you notice inaccurate entries, please submit a correction/deletion (and provide an appropriate explanation in the required comment field) and our editors will rectify the inaccuracy.
• Tracking your Contribution.
You can now track the status of your Credit submission and if it has not been approved, we'll tell you the reason why. If you are using the mobile apps, mobile website or desktop website you can access this feature via the 'Track your contribution' button, which has been added to the submission email receipt. Additionally, if you are using the desktop website, you can also use the 'Track Contribution' button now found in your contribution history page.” BFI is the British Film Institute, BFI is a reliable source which has stringent oversight. If you consider IMDB to be user generated, the users still have to provide IMDb with multiple reliable sources, and the IMDB editors research this after which they approve or decline. In this case, shadow is credited in the feature film as the band as well as the individual members.
Here is the link to the BFI website which is listed in the citations: https://www.bfi.org.uk/films-tv-people/4ce2b74c621ea BFI is not user generated. There are two newspaper stories, one from the El Paso Times, both of which are independent although they are on the Cliff White’s website.

New Page Review newsletter November 2019
editHello Dan arndt,
This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.
- Getting the queue to 0
There are now 804 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
Want to join? Consider adding the NPP Pledge userbox.
Our next newsletter will announce the winners of some really cool awards.
- Coordinator
Admin Barkeep49 has been officially invested as NPP/NPR coordinator by a unanimous consensus of the community. This is a complex role and he will need all the help he can get from other experienced reviewers.
- This month's refresher course
Paid editing is still causing headaches for even our most experienced reviewers: This official Wikipedia article will be an eye-opener to anyone who joined Wikipedia or obtained the NPR right since 2015. See The Hallmarks to know exactly what to look for and take time to examine all the sources.
- Tools
- It is now possible to select new pages by date range. This was requested by reviewers who want to patrol from the middle of the list.
- It is now also possible for accredited reviewers to put any article back into the New Pages Feed for re-review. The link is under 'Tools' in the side bar.
- Reviewer Feedback
Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.
- Second set of eyes
- Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. Read about it at the Monitoring the system section in the tutorial. If you come across such editors doing good work, don't hesitate to encourage them to apply for NPR.
- Do be sure to have our talk page on your watchlist. There are often items that require reviewers' special attention, such as to watch out for pages by known socks or disruptive editors, technical issues and new developments, and of course to provide advice for other reviewers.
- Arbitration Committee
The annual ArbCom election will be coming up soon. All eligible users will be invited to vote. While not directly concerned with NPR, Arbcom cases often lead back to notability and deletion issues and/or actions by holders of advanced user rights.
- Community Wish list
There is to be no wish list for WMF encyclopedias this year. We thank Community Tech for their hard work addressing our long list of requirements which somewhat overwhelmed them last year, and we look forward to a successful completion.

Record producer mix up
editPages: Mike Stone (record producer), Mike D. Stone, Clay Records, Clay Records discography, Mike "Clay" Stone
Your page identifies you as part of WikiProject:Record Labels, so hoping you can do something with this. Seems there were three Mike Stones who worked in record producing. One of them worked at Clay Records. Clay records has two unsourced articles which should probably be merged (someone tagged them with improperly formatted merge proposal templates) and then either sourced or AfD'd. In theory any mention of Mike Stone of clay records can just redirect to Clay records. Problem is, Mike "Clay" Stone was deleted as an implausible redirect to Mike Stone (record producer) (which doesn't seem correct). The delete means there are ~50 redlinks to Mike of clay which should really point to one of three pages, and I'm not sure the various editor(s) who originally linked them were linking the correct mike. Care to try to unravel it all? Hydromania (talk) 08:29, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

The article Valet Records has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
No indication that subject meets WP:NORG
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jmertel23 (talk) 02:25, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Dan. Thank you for your review. Regarding musician notability for Dymaxion: "Musicians or ensembles may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria." Dymaxion meets at least three:
- "Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself."
- Coverage citation is listed for Tiny Mix Tapes (an 18-year-old online-only music magazine with a Wikipedia page of its own and many other citations on Wikipedia) and Exclaim! (a long-running print magazine)
- "Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network."
- Dymaxion continues to be regularly played by WFMU, a major independent New Jersey-based radio station.
- "Has released two or more albums on ... one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are independently notable)."
- Dymaxion has two releases on Duophonic Records, a label started by Stereolab (a very notable musical group) with releases from Pram, Broadcast, The High Llamas, and other very notable musical acts.
After a request at WT:MILHIST, I've given this article a pretty thorough going over, and expanded it with numerous additional references. I've got a few more to work through from my collection, but I wondered if you would reconsider the submission; alternatively, whether I can simply move it into mainspace myself (I'm not familiar with AfC protocols, as it isn't a method I use for writing articles.) edit- Reviewer of the Year
This year's Reviewer of the Year is Rosguill. Having gotten the reviewer PERM in August 2018, they have been a regular reviewer of articles and redirects, been an active participant in the NPP community, and has been the driving force for the emerging NPP Source Guide that will help reviewers better evaluate sourcing and notability in many countries for which it has historically been difficult.
Special commendation again goes to Onel5969 who ends the year as one of our most prolific reviewers for the second consecutive year. Thanks also to Boleyn and JTtheOG who have been in the top 5 for the last two years as well.
Several newer editors have done a lot of work with CAPTAIN MEDUSA and DannyS712 (who has also written bots which have patrolled thousands of redirects) being new reviewers since this time last year.
Thanks to them and to everyone reading this who has participated in New Page Patrol this year.

- Redirect autopatrol
A recent Request for Comment on creating a new redirect autopatrol pseduo-permission was closed early. New Page Reviewers are now able to nominate editors who have an established track record creating uncontroversial redirects. At the individual discretion of any administrator or after 24 hours and a consensus of at least 3 New Page Reviewers an editor may be added to a list of users whose redirects will be patrolled automatically by DannyS712 bot III.
- Source Guide Discussion
Set to launch early in the new year is our first New Page Patrol Source Guide discussion. These discussions are designed to solicit input on sources in places and topic areas that might otherwise be harder for reviewers to evaluate. The hope is that this will allow us to improve the accuracy of our patrols for articles using these sources (and/or give us places to perform a WP:BEFORE prior to nominating for deletion). Please watch the New Page Patrol talk page for more information.
- This month's refresher course
While New Page Reviewers are an experienced set of editors, we all benefit from an occasional review. This month consider refreshing yourself on Wikipedia:Notability (geographic features). Also consider how we can take the time for quality in this area. For instance, sources to verify human settlements, which are presumed notable, can often be found in seconds. This lets us avoid the (ugly) 'Needs more refs' tag.

Your rejection of “Don’t Shut Me Down”
editThe article for “Don’t Shut Me Down”, which you rejected, was a song about an upcoming song. It may not be able to show notability that way, but Wikipedia create articles for upcoming songs all the time, I’ve seen it. Also, ABBA are an extremely popular band, they are famous. Hello, my question is regarding a recent reject and use of sources. I quoted from US government documents (memos and reports) and cited the source of the quotes. However, the article was rejected due to the inclusion of said quotes. My understanding, as reflected in the article "Copyright status of works by the federal government of the United States" is that government documents of this sort are able to be quoted. Is this correct, or am I misinterpreting policy/considerations? Thank you.

You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

It covers a wide range of sources in Ghana with the goal of providing more guidance to reviewers about sources they might see when reviewing pages. Hopefully, new page reviewers will join others interested in reliable sources and those with expertise in these sources to make the discussion a success.
- Redirects
New to NPP? Looking to try something a little different? Consider patrolling some redirects. Redirects are relatively easy to review, can be found easily through the New Pages Feed. You can find more information about how to patrol redirects at WP:RPATROL.
- Discussions and Resources
- There is an ongoing discussion around changing notifications for new editors who attempt to write articles.
- A recent discussion of whether Michelin starred restraunts are notable was archived without closure.
- A resource page with links pertinent for reviewers was created this month.
- A proposal to increase the scope of G5 was withdrawn.
- Refresher
Geographic regions, areas and places generally do not need general notability guideline type sourcing. When evaluating whether an article meets this notability guideline please also consider whether it might actually be a form of WP:SPAM for a development project (e.g. PR for a large luxury residential development) and not actually covered by the guideline.

Negating Creation of Template
editMr Arndt,
I have not understood why you have declined my proposal for a missing template.
Without wanting to be rude, the reasons advanced are puerile and baseless.
All I want is a simple template. I will put it up again in a concise form.

Not a Duplicate
editHello Dan,
My draft keeps getting marked as a duplicate of a draft from 2019 from a different user with the same subject but not the same material. I don't know why my draft keeps getting flagged as related to this draft. I tried changing the name but even after that my draft is still being marked as a duplicate of the draft from 2019. Is there anything you can do to help? I need to have this article live by tonight for a college project and the reason it keeps being denied is out of my control. Here's a link to my draft you reviewed and thank you for taking the time to read this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:ART401wp/sandbox

Draft: Dorothy ('Dot') Butler / Dorothy Butler (conservationist)11:49, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
editHi Dan, I noticed that you have changed the name of the draft page to Dorothy Butler (conservationist). I am sure there is a good reason (and I want to stick to the rules) but, as the person who wrote the article, I should let you know that the new page name is not a good choice. There are one and a half lines on Dot's conservation efforts and it is not really what she is remembered for. She could have been described better as 'Dorothy Butler (walker and climber)', or 'Dorothy Butler (adventurer)', but her conservation efforts are not really why she is important in history. Just letting you know, in case there is an opportunity to change it to something that suits you but is also more relevant.TrimmerinWiki (talk) 11:50, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

editYour recent editing history at Galle Lighthouse shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. stwalkerster (talk) 18:41, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
Recent image reversals
editHello Dan. Hope you are well. Just a quick note (sent from work) with regards to the recent image reversals on a number of articles. I'd like to voice out regarding this view. Even though it may seem like the user is uploading "their" images to many articles, it is still immensely helpful to Wikipedia as most of the replacements are clearly helpful (I have not checked all). As volunteers building an encyclopedia, our ultimate goal is to present topics with the best images/illustrations, be it all from a single photographer or from many. And just for the record, the particular uploader has also replaced some of "my" images as well, but that is perfectly fine as the replacements are clearly better. I've also noticed instances where the uploader has uploaded better images, only to be changed to another (3rd) image to avoid the uploader's file altogether. While that does not necessary go against a policy, it is makes the environment quite unwelcoming to new contributors. Happy editing! Rehman 09:46, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi Dan, thanks for your help with Dolphin Club. I added references from books and magazines, including dedicated articles about the Dolphin Club from the New York Times, SF Chronicle, The Frisc, and other magazines. Also removed sentences without citations and any that appeared like advertisements. The neighboring club The Southend Rowing Club offers similar services to the public. Still pretty new to editing on Wikipedia, and would enjoy further tips from you. Have a great day.

editHi Dan, are there any edits you suggest for the Dolphin Club? I want to learn how to make a table in wikipedia, and was thinking of making a table of the 23 boats, which would allow people to sort by longest, and lightest boats, which isn't available using the photo I uploaded. Is this useful? Nealmueller (talk) 02:40, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
- Update, I made the boat fleet table. I also learned from your other edits and made the numbers convertible into metric.Nealmueller (talk) 05:07, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
Hi Dan, since Nealmueller has COI, the article needs to be scrubbed for neutrality and promotional portions in its history section, especially the name drops and lifespans. The building locations are probably sourced fine. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:59, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
- Angus you already scrubbed name drop in caption, and in retrospect I'm glad you did that. The lifespans were added by Dan and have nothing to do with COI. Hambantota
editHi Dan arndt, I don't understand why you reverted my edits. 1) The original statement (by a previous editor) was an example of understandable but poor English usage. I fixed that. 2) The point that many public projects are examples of governments extracting money from their populaces at gunpoint to fund ostensibly worthwhile projects that those citizens won't voluntarily fund because they are not worthwhile but that enable the officials to signal virtue, buy votes, and facilitate corruption, is a worthwhile point. What it needs is a citation to who the critics are, not suppression of the controversy. Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 17:15, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

The Thiyyar Regiment of British Indian Army
editNo it's not like members of thiyya community has enrolled in british indian army, there were a seperate regiment. Why don't you refer to the reference given , look the news paper where it says 'Thiyyar promised to form a regiment in 1904 amoung them ' , look the letter written to governor of madras state wich says 'why did thiyyar regiment being disbanded ?' .Also refer to the book North africa to north malabar , which clearly says 'there were a thiyyar regiment centered at thalassery' . These references are enough to prove the historical importance of thiyyar regiment centered at british indian army under Madras state. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Othayoth shankaran (talk • contribs) 04:51, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
I need your opinion on this article. It shows considerable CoI problems, see Authorship.
The top four editors each have a probable link to the subject:
- The top account is an editor, who previously claimed to be Southbank Records (one of the artist's labels). It recreated the article in April 2018.
- While the 2nd, with a similar user name, edits in a similar manner.
- The 3rd one claims to be the artist. That account created the article back in late 2016, which was speedily deleted in December 2016.
- While the 4th is a SPA with 7 edits in three days of similar content to the previous account.
The article uses BadCharts for recordings.
Other than iTunes for singles/an EP, it provides poor sources for the content.
The artist worked as Saccas for about 10 years, mostly djing in Kalgorilie and Perth. He formed Beyond tha Noize as a duo with Tom Dodd but later continued the performance name as a solo concern. Relocted to Southbank, Melbourne. Article claims the artist toured internationally.

Declined Article
editHello Dan, I hope you're doing great! Sorry for bothering you but I would really appreciate your guidance in this matter. My "Lebanese record labels" article does not have a lot of references online, because it is still not so popular or talked about, however, all of the information that I have stated in this article are valid and honest: I have contacted and gathered information from 3 producers, A&Rs, people in the music industry and most importantly I have lived all my life in Lebanon so I have some knowledge on what goes on in the music scene in Lebanon. I would appreciate your help on how I can fix this. Moreover, I will re-edit my article to make it more Wikipedia worthy and not an essay for college... editWhat type of references or external links do i need to have my page published? I have seen many athletes with wikipedia pages and they are not of note or have not played for any teams professionally. I also have an interest in creating this page because of the number of other people of note with the same name I feel that this person deserves a page to avoid confusion and have recognition for those looking for him
This link provides plenty of online, print and other media sources covering his career and games

Notability
editMy original question I guess is why are there so many other profiles of players who don't meet the requirements of notability but they have pages. I don't understand the discrepancy. Also what sort of references would be suitable? Finishing 4th in the world on Team Doha in the 2016 FIBA 3x3 All stars. He also competed in the Arab Club Basketball Championship with ASE in 2014 and the Hobart Chargers were in the SEABL which was the 2nd best league in Australia at the time. He won a championship in the Moroccan top league and played in the top Lebanese league which features multiple NBA players. He was a main contributor on 2 separate TBT teams that advanced past the first round. Various news media outlets covering his signing to different teams and game coverage.
Again one of the main factors for wanting to create his page is the number of similarly named people and another person being a completely different basketball player who is a streetballer and not him
This is not a page to brag but to give information about a player that I do (especially in comparison to other pages I have visited) believe is notable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Basketballfan2009 (talk • contribs) 19:20, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

Didn't want it to seem I was superseding your request for further explanation as to why the subject is notable enough to be listed on NRHP. Dan: thank you for taking your time to edit submissions. I respect that it is no easy task.
I submitted a reference and three paragraphs to the beginning to the entry on Ice Segregation. The current entry on Ice Segregation relates only to the subsurface form of Ice Segregation. My submission was to extend the reach of the process of Ice Segregation.
On the Wikipedia page for Needle Ice it states that Needle Ice forms by the process of Ice Segregation. Needle Ice occurs at the surface and thus the discussion on the existing Ice Segregation page does not relate to Needle Ice.
Ice Segregation is the process producing Frost/Ice Flowers on plant stems as well as Hair Ice. Sometime those pages need to be upgraded to reflect the current science.
As a start to upgrade our knowledge about the natural formation of ice at the surface I thought it was best to integrate the article by Ozawa and Kinosita into the entry on Ice Segregation, the subject of their paper.

FYI, I added a ton to that article and moved it to article space. Not sure what the protocol at AFC is (never interacted with it) but, since you had declined it earlier, I should let you know. Don't want to step on any toes! --regentspark (comment) 22:07, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
Question About My Article
editHi Dan - I hope I am submitting this correctly! Thanks for taking the time to look over my submission for Dezron Douglas. You said it didn't warrant a page, but my subject actually already has a German page [[3]] and I wasn't sure how to translate/make it available in English, as he is an American musician and active mostly in the states. Is there any help that you can provide? In the meantime, I can add some sources to the page as your suggested. Thank you for your time! Eastmeer (talk) 15:27, 21 May 2020 (UTC)Brandee Younger
HMS Leander Image
editHi - thanks for moving HMS Leander (1848) to mainspace. You removed my failed image insertion - could you please fix the insertion of the image which is really on wikicommons [[4]], even though
fails. Weirdly, it works in "preview page".

Decline for Flats Boat
editHi, I saw the decline reason was for duplicate of Flat-bottomed boat. Flats boats are not necessarily flat bottomed, in fact most designs are not. They are a category/design of modern boats and while some do have flat bottoms those are typically created by only a few manufacturers and referred to as skiffs. They aren't the same thing. If anything, the existing article may touch on a few designs of flats boats which are flat bottomed a subcategory of flats boats by modern convention although some such as barges etc are absolutely not relevant as "flats boats" How would you suggest proceeding? Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice
editHi Dan arndt, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.
Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.
To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!
Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)Dolphin Club (San Francisco) COI tag removal

Rollback
editHi - I just closed the ANI thread, but then noticed your comment I'm also of the opinion that A.Savin is equally guilty of abusing the rollback tool even if he’ll never admit.
I don't know exactly what you are referring to there, but I just wanted to point out that A.Savin does not have the rollback permission, and so is not technically capable of misusing it; so I expect that's a misunderstanding unless I'm missing something significant.
I am not here to weigh in on the question of whether or not the edits were improvements, or your reverts appropriate; I just want to be clear that if you are reverting for any other reason than obvious outright vandalism, you should not use the rollback tool, and should give an edit summary. I don't know whether you use Twinkle? That's what I use for that kind of stuff - the green or blue 'rollback' options allow you to leave an edit summary, and are otherwise just as convenient as a proper Rollback, without all the baggage that goes along with the WP:ROLLBACK guidelines. Anyway, I thank you for indicating that you'll be more careful in future, and present you with this fishy friend.
Plip!

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:CK Kumaravel
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:CK Kumaravel, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Cahk (talk) 08:53, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
Wikipedia article publication issue
editDear sir Dan arndt, I am a PhD candidate of Louisiana state university and i have decided to publish wikipedia page who attended or passed from this university and right now considered as a notable. You informed me to create the article about "nuski baby" with an encyclopediac tone and remove references related with factmandu, youtube, facebook, instagram etc. I will also add secondery references beyond with this. Regina Lambero is waiting to see her wiki page on google eagerly and she gave me a photo of her with copyright permissions. I hope I will be able to publish the article and it will be visible on search engine after those corrections have been done.
Thank you. I'm waiting to hear from you if i can add references 1.birthwiki.com/nuski-baby 2.go.google.com/nuski-baby 3.biography.com

- That's surprising, given your edit history, I would have assumed that it was trying to shoe horn as many of your photos into existing articles as possible that and ignoring the opinions of other editors as to the worthiness of those images but I guess I was wrong. - Why then am I exempted? --A.Savin (talk) 09:26, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- Well if you re-check, you'll see that I did take your initial edits in good faith. But in some circumstances we are clearly in disagreement about what constitutes the most appropriate image in some articles. I understand that you have a dogmatic view that it is about the quality of the image as opposed to having an image that actually depicts what the article is about. Dan arndt (talk) 01:10, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
- It would be nice if you responded to the actual question -- accusing someone "to shoe horn as many of your photos" surely has nothing to do with AGF. --A.Savin (talk) 02:07, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
- I don't believe I accused you of anything, I may have assumed but never accused (there is a difference). Dan arndt (talk) 05:12, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
- OK, so why assumed? Please? --A.Savin (talk) 13:22, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
- Probably based on a perceived degree of arrogance shown in your edits, due to a lack of explanation provided when you are replacing images. As I previously stated it is not always the quality of the image that is important it is what the image depicts and how it demonstrates/reflects what the article is about. Dan arndt (talk) 00:11, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
- You please show me a policy that makes an explanation of every replacement of a picture in an article mandatory. Thanks! --A.Savin (talk) 00:44, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

- Yeah, I asked this question... and still got no answer from you. So, once again: Why are you not assuming good faith wrt to my work? Why do you think that my only goal is kind of shoe-horning or whatever may it mean. Can't you imagine, that someone is taking pictures, carefully upload and georef and categorizing in order to improve the quality of the contents? Can I have an explanation, please? Thanks. --A.Savin (talk) 01:50, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
- I feel that we are going around and around in circles. I have answered all your questions both here and the various other talk pages that you’ve raised them. You obviously either aren’t prepared to listen/understand the answers or you are ignoring them. Either way that’s up to you. I’ll repeat myself again in an effort to make you understand both my rationale and what others have stated. It is not about your images but the need for the images to reflect/reinforce aspects of the articles. Simply placing good quality images and in some cases multiple images of the same subject doesn’t always enhance the article and often detracts which is what some of your edits do. Dan arndt (talk) 02:31, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

I'm happy to repeat my question again and again, because there is still no response from you: Why can't you just let it be and stop harassing me? I have been on Wiki projects since 15 years, and nearly always I get a positive feedback on my photographic work. So this cannot be true that all my pictures are overprocessed, non-representative, of poor quality or whatever. You and Obi2canibe just have a problem with me that none of you is willing to disclose. You and Obi2canibe have nothing to do with professional photography. And I spend my time, money (not few of that!) in Wiki projects because I wish their contentual quality to be raised. I have no commercial interest, if you think sth like that to yourself. People on Commons, whose photographic work I know and respect, never would treat me as hostile and unfair as you+Obi do. I am a human and may occasionally make mistakes, yes. But I don't believe that I make them systematically, as your attitude towards me clearly suggests. I just don't believe you both anymore. I don't want to see you as kind of an editorial or censorship department which is monitoring all my edits and decides for each, what comes in and what not. It is against the spirit of Wiki movement. I am not willing to accept this hostile behaviour. You have to look for a sysop of your trust to block me. Otherwise I will continue, because I really don't see that my contribution to Wikipedia is destructive in any way. My net-contribution is clearly positive, as it is on Commons. --A.Savin (talk) 22:15, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- Any response? --A.Savin (talk) 02:55, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
The following was originally posted on User talk:A.Savin however A.Savin chose to move it here, potentially to avoid having other fellow editors view it and the issues it has identified about his ongoing behaviour
I am going to provide you with a response here so that other editors can read it, although if you choose to delete it (as you have in the past) then that is your choice. Firstly I am not targeting you or your edits. Some of your recent edits have been made on articles that are on my Watchlist, which is why they have come to my attention. Despite your beliefs I have not been stalking you - simply I have a lot better things to do with my time. Secondly there are a number of edits that you have made (images added) to Sri Lankan articles that I think enhance the article for which I have thanked you for your edits. Thirdly I think that you should pay more attention to the advice of others, not necessarily myself, who have repeatedly advised you to be WP:CIVIL, observe WP:BRD and WP:3RR. I have attempted to discuss my concerns on the various articles' talkpages and allow others to participate in those discussions - which you seem to have used as an opportunity to attack any other editors who have a different opinion to yours. Finally as I have repeatedly advised you the main issue I have with a number of your images is that they do not reflect what that intent of the article actually is. They may be good quality images but that does not necessarily mean that they best represent what the articles are about. Also by adding multiple images of the same subject actually detracts from the article. The main emphasis is on the content (i.e. describing what the article is about) Wikipedia is not an image repository. I hope that this clarifies and answers your queries. Dan arndt (talk) 11:36, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
- No, I don't feel like this answers my question, because, as stated, it is definitely not normal if two same users are permanently monitoring my edits and reverting most of them, despite the fact that I am acting in good faith, to the best of my knowledge and belief, and otherwise nearly all people find my work constructive. It cannot be that my pictures are inappropriate by default. Some few may be, but definitely not 70-80% of them, as your and Obi's hostile behaviour towards me suggest. All the discussions where I had to defend myself, by now in the uttermost cases had only three participants: me, you, and Obi. I don't believe that you and/or Obi are the main authors of all these articles, or have them all on watchlist by coincidence. But even if you are the only author, the article is not your private property. --A.Savin (talk) 13:11, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
- I'm sorry if the truth isn't the answer that you were after. At the risk of repeating myself, yet again, I am not permanently monitoring your edits nor am I reverting all of them. It's unfortunate if that does fit your paranoia but as I said earlier I have better things to do with my time then stalking you. Also as I have previously stated I don't speak for Obi2canibe - he is his own person and it is not for me to explain his actions but I would assume that he like me has better things to do than to follow your edit history. I certainly don't believe I have demonstrated any aspect of 'ownership' of any article, whether I created it or not but I guess that doesn't fit your personal theories or paranoia.Dan arndt (talk) 13:44, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

My submission at Articles for creation
editI know that the subject already exists on wikipedia, but MineCon mostly focuses on the conventions instead of the livestreams. Which is why i wanted to make a separate article on the livestreams, similar to Minecraft Festival which was also covered in MineCon but has it's own article because it is separate from the regular MineCon conventions. MineCon Live is also separate from the regular MineCon conventions. Which is why I wanted to make an article on it. the ultraUsurper (talk) 07:13, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Please help me to review it again.Thank you very much
Hi Dan arndt, Thank you very much for your response. I had added them into draft, please help me to review it again. Thanks.
Hello Dan arndt, Thank you for your advice. The specifications is the most important part that people need to learn about this article. Do you really think I need to remove it ? Or maybe I need to change a way to introduce specifications rather than a table? I really appreciate your help and guide.
Hello Dan arndt, Thank you for your guide. I revised the article. Please help me to review if it is ok. Thank you very much.

Partners Relief & Development ampersand
editHello Dan Arndt,
Thank you for your input on my draft for Partners Relief & Development. I don't know if it was you or a Wikipedia formatting bug, but the page title and some of the mentions in the article draft were changed from "Partners Relief & Development" to "Partners Relief and Development. The charity is actually registered with an ampersand as is their website and social media. I edited the mentions in the body text of the article back to ampersands, but I cannot edit the page title. I would prefer the article to use the correct name of the charity. Is this something you have control over? Thanks, Sir Barnaby (talk) 03:37, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

Asking for Help with Draft:Kurt Kerns
editHello! I am the creator and editor of the Draft:Kurt Kerns that you reviewed earlier. I compiled more reliable, secondary sources (there are around twenty, now) about the subject in addition to fixing all the incorrect citation formatting. You commented that the subject did not seem to have had any noteworthy commissions, so I added more details about the major projects and clients he has worked with based on information from various articles online. I have re-submitted the draft for review, and I would love for you to re-review and give me feedback on the page. Any assistance would be appreciated, thank you! Speedy deletion nomination of Choi Jong-deok
editA tag has been placed on Choi Jong-deok requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
DannyS712 (talk) 12:44, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi Dan,
I am trying to get the wiki page up for my highly respected friend and doctor at Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, Dr. Amesh Adalja. As you probably saw, he is one of the major medical contributors in mainstream media regarding infectious disease and has been working non-stop since COVD-19 broke out. I asked him if there was anything I could do to help him while he is out there trying to inject some sanity during this crazy event, and he asked if I could create a wiki page and help him update his own website (trackingzebra.com, which I have lately been remiss in updating....). Much of the biographical information I have and what others have been given, is directly from him. I don't want to change the information because they are facts about him and all relevant for a wiki page. He, of course, is very consistent in what he provides everyone. Therefore, there is significant overlap regarding these biographical details in many different sources. This was my first ever wiki page. However, this is the second time I have submitted a page for him. The first time, I just took what he had (with his permission of course) on trackingzebra.com and updated it somewhat. I submitted it under a wiki id that I created for him. It was rejected both for copyright and for appearing to be submitted by him directly. So after reading the requirements more closely, I created my own wiki ID and spent significant time writing more information about Dr. Adalja's views on the handling of the COVID-19 epidemic in addition to including this biographical information. At this point, I am at a loss of what to do to get this page published. By definition, it needs to contain these biographical facts. Can you please provide some more guidance so I can complete this page accepted? I'll post it again in my sandbox in case you cannot retrieve the one that seems to have been deleted.
Thank you,
Kathryn Daley

Hello Dan Arndt,
Thanks for your article on G. gunatillekeorum. Being a newly described species, it is not in Plants of the World Online, World Checklist of Selected Plant Families, The Plant List or only of the other lists listed here (under Accepted names). In spite of that, I think it's okay to include an article about it, but I've removed it from the list at Gastrodia, and linked to it from the bottom of that page. I'm hoping G. gunatillekeorum will soon be included in those lists. Gderrin (talk) 05:13, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi. I am somewhat confused that a draft article on an album release (One Three Seven) is being rejected on the grounds that the album is not notable. Has the reviewer spent any time looking at the other wikipedia articles related to the band that released the album? Given that these comprise a fairly comprehensive page for the band and individual pages for every one of their albums (with the exception of the one I am trying to create) I believe that question of notability has already been answered as far as wikipedia is concerned. I see no issue in filling in a missing gap for an album that may not be particularly notable in and of itself but which is part of a career that is already quite comprehensively documented in wikipedia. Thanks for your time.

I give up. I didn't expect to encounter the response I have. I guess there must be a storage space issue for wikipedia if this is par for the course. I am even more disappointed to see that my activities have jeopardised the existence of several other pages. You recently reviewed an article I submitted, but I believe it does qualify for a page. Arena Football League is one of the professional leagues in the WP:NGRIDIRON criteria, and 6 games were played during the 1998 season. There is also some confusion because the Iowa Barnstormers were later moved to the AF2 league in 2001, so any games after 2000 would not have qualified for the criteria, but 1998 does qualify. I can share other news articles and clips if more evidence is needed.

Dear Dan,
Bob Here, I am doing this article for my artist friend I am doing this for him because to me he is a very important artist and he has been working very hard to this day.
I wanted to do this so I can cheer him up and show my gratitude.
All the info I gave about him is correct, but I am new on wikipedia and new to creating articles and pages so I might did some stuff wrong.
The main idea was to create him a stub info artist bio page. After watching youtube videos about creating articles I think I got a bit excited and decided to right a bigger bio. I am sorry you did not approve this and I would like do my best to get this approved. I went to chat board to get some help and they were so rough with me and broke my heart a bit. I told them I am new and wanted to show them some examples but they did not want to see. They said I need couple of 3rd party source reference and it might get approved after that is provided. can you give me an example of what do I need to show as reference and how many needed? the main idea behind this was to create something like this article below.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%9Eehin%C5%9Fah
Please let me know what can I do to move forward my article.
Kind Regards,
Bob

editHi Dan,
Thanks for reviewing my submitted article for Theresa Greenfield, which you judged to "[read] like a political election campaign profile." I patterned the article on other articles for similarly situated American politicians, such as John E. James and Jaime Harrison. Could you be more specific on what would make this article less like a campaign profile and more suitable for Wikipedia? The differences from the pages associated with many other politicians are not obvious to me. Greenfield has received extensive coverage in the media ranging from the local to the national level, as indicated in the reference list, which I thought should qualify her as notable based on the "[m]ajor local political figures who have received significant press coverage" criterion.
