miss taiwan's title

edit

dear sir or madam: please do not unilaterally changed the title and flag of miss taiwan in miss universe page. although miss taiwan was required to use chinese taipei in 2003 and 2004, but according to news report that they were also allowed to use miss taiwan sash out off stage. thus, i editted miss taiwan(chinese taipei). i believe the way i did is very fair and objective. when i made the change long time ago, the page's editor agreed with me, so why my edit stay still until recently you changed. please stop any edit if you can't provide enough citation. thanks 台灣護士 (talk) 05:09, 9 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

1990 Eurovision

Please, if you are going to make changes to several articles regarding the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest results, you need to cite your changes. I can see your reasoning, but unfortunately, your changes are WP: Original research and not certified by the references given. TOTD

edit
Tip of the day...

Please summarize your work using the Edit summary box

If you make anything other than a minor edit to an article, it helps others if you fill in the edit summary. Edit summaries are visible in the page history, watchlists, and on Recent changes, so they help other users keep track of what is happening to a page.

If you use section editing, the summary box is filled in with the section heading by default (in gray text), which you can follow with more detail. You also can put links to articles in the edit summary. Just put double brackets around [[the article title]] like you would normally. The summary is limited to 255 characters, so many people use common abbreviations, such as sp for correcting spelling mistakes, rm for remove, ce for copy-edit, etc.

Dear Trafford09, I usually edit in the wikipedia in the portuguese language (my first language) and i have a small knowledge in the English language, but when i have a knowlegde in certain theme i put the information.
I have many problems about the english language like many latin language speakers and because this i don´t use the sumaries,it´s hard to write, but easy to speak english.

Hello Daniel. It's good to talk to you - thank you for discussing this. I think that if you want the right to edit on English Wikipedia, you must accept the responsibility that comes with it - that is: to Help:Edit_summary#Always provide an edit summary. So, the question is: is your English good enough for you to edit on English Wikipedia?

I think that your English is quite good (much better than my Portuguese - and I would not edit on Portuguese Wikipedia). You expressed yourself above very well - I understood everything that you wrote. So, I would say you are ok to continue editing on English Wikipedia - provided that you supply edit summaries (ES's).

I'm sure you could do that. For instance, let's take your last 3 edits, and see what you could have added as edit summaries:

  • A good ES for this edit would have been "Added Portuguese".
  • A good ES for this edit would have been "c-e etc.". (c-e is short for copy-edit, e.g. a minor spelling correction.)
  • A good ES for this edit would have been "added the day".

So, you see, it's not difficult, and your English is quite good enough to do that, do you not agree?

Best wishes, Trafford09 (talk) 08:31, 10 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think your real problem is that you just do not like supplying edit summaries - in any language - including your edits on Portuguese WP? Trafford09 (talk) 08:58, 10 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Venue of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest

edit

Please do not add Baku Crystal Hall as the confirmed venue in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 article or elsewhere. The EBU have explicitly stated that the venue for the contest has not been confirmed yet, although Baku Crystal Hall is one of the options. Oikotimes is sometimes used a source in Eurovision articles, but its reliability remains disputed, and it should not override EBU (Eurovision.tv) sources. Removal of San Marino from JESC 2012 article

edit

Is there any reason as to why San Marino has been removed from Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012? A reliable source was used as a link, and a reasonable paragraph included, which explained the inclusion for "possibles", which are permitted in the article as long as they are sourced, and explained. There was a mini-discussion on the article talk page. Before removing or adding content, always check on the article talk page, to see if there are any details which could be important. Eurovision Song Contest 2012: Your entry of Poland Withdrawal

edit

Dear Daniel, Please could you revert your recent edit on Eurovision Song Contest 2012 regarding Poland withdrawal. There is an ongoing discussion at Talk:Eurovision_Song_Contest_2012#Polish_withdrawal regarding this matter, including a full explanation as to why the article isn't including details of the alleged Poland withdrawal at this present time. TVP haven't announced anything about ESC2012 on their official website. The ESCToday, Oikotimes, and ESCDaily have all cited themselves as source of their own published information - which is against WP:NPOV. TVP announced on their Facebook that they haven't given ANY press release to media sources regarding their decision for ESC 2012. TVP1 (a television channel belonging to TVP) have stated that they no longer wish to broadcast the event. TVP (the network on a whole) are looking into switching the broadcasting rights to one of their other television stations. Until an official statement by either TVP (on their official website) or by the EBU (via Eurovision.tv) has been released, then Poland should remain as a "possible withdraw". Otherwise everyone is going to be undergoing unnecessary edit warring, and facing blocks for no reason. We're only in a situation similar to Slovakia's participation in 2011, when they announced they were in, and then withdrawing, only to be back in again. Thank You - Wesley Mouse (talk) 23:51, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I sincerely advise that you participate in the article talk page, before continuing adding information about Poland's withdrawal. Oikotimes are an unreliable source, and shouldn't be used whatsoever (unless they cited a reliable source in their own articles). Disruptions of this nature are slowly breaching edit warring territory which is unacceptable, and can resort in users being blocked. Wesley Mouse (talk) 00:07, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Various naming alterations

edit

Daniel, I've noticed that you've done a variety of naming alterations across various Eurovision articles; changing English written text into Azerbaijani text. This isn't really permitted per guidelines at WP:ENGLISH, as this is the English version of Wikipedia, then articles need to be titled using the English alphabet; unless circumstances are decided upon via the method of talk page discussion. Also when you made the page move for Leyla Aliyeva (presenter) to Leyla Əliyeva (presenter), an official request for move should have been submittedc first at WP:RM, so that a discussion can take place between other editors, to see if the move is supported or opposed. As this hasn't been done, I have made a request to the help desk, for admin to revert the move; to keep things within scope as per WP:ENGLISH. Thanks - WesleyMouse 23:43, 16 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Manual of style for Eurovision Song Contest 2012 article

edit

Hi Daniel,

When you made this edit to Eurovision Song Contest 2012, you added the full address for the venue, which isn't really needed per manual of style for Eurovision articles. Your edit has subsequently been reverted, as the project decided that the sufficient way to detail venues on Eurovision articles is by "arena, city, country". So in this case, sufficient information would be "Baku Crystal Hall, Baku, Azerbaijan"; and no need to mention National Flag Square. Please make sure you adhere to this style on similar related articles. Many thanks - WesleyMouse 20:54, 5 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Eurovision Song Contest 2013, makes articles harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. The context added in regards to Armenia, is suppose to be there to add more details to the non-Eurovision fan about Armenia. Message from the Editorial Team

Bienvenue! Willkommen! Welcome!

Please be warm-hearted in encouraging everyone to do their best to contribute to all Eurovision-related Wikipedia articles, and welcome our new members to the project. It is easy for editors to get into conflict with each other, and things can get very nasty on the most trivial of issues, whether that be on the language of songs, the names of certain countries, or how we deal with incidents at the contest. In such circumstances it is worth remembering one thing: we are all here to build an encyclopedia, and the contribution of Eurovision to human knowledge can only be given justice if we work together and make articles, not drama!

  • If you would like something to appear in the August 2012 Edition of the newsletter, then please inform us at the Project Newsdesk.
  • If there is an article you think we should have? Request it here.

Happy editing!

Project News
  • When creating new articles about a performer or song, please remember to add sources either from Eurovision.tv, ESCToday or other reliable sources. If you're not sure a source is reliable enough, then ask the project for an opinion.
  • Remember to only add content to articles that is relevant to the article's main subject. Anything not in relation to the article may be questioned and/or subject to redirection to an article that would benefit it's inclusion. Again if in doubt, ask on the article or project talk pages for an opinion - communication is an important tool.
  • On the subject of communication, please make use of the article talk pages. They are a vital tool in conducting consensus talks of additions of proposed new sections and/or removal of unnecessary section. If you don't use these pages to put across your views, then you only have yourself to blame if actions are taken that you disagree with and you end up wandering into edit warring territory.
  • The 2012 season of Eurovision has drawn to a close, and we now start preparations for the 2013 edition. While things will be slow to start of with, now is the ideal opportunity to do a clean-up exercise across articles relating to the project. There's over 4,500 articles associated with the project. If you happen to see a Eurovision related article without the {{EurovisionNotice}} template on the article's talk page, please add it. You can also read Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment if you would like to help assess or reassess articles in our project if you see that they have outgrown their current assessment. There is currently one unassessed article.
  • And finally... a massive thank you to all members of the project for your constant hard work on collaborating and contributing to Eurovision related articles. Keep up the good work team!

  • The RfC discussion in regards to article layout, is still taking place on the project talk page. Could all members please ensure that they participate in the discussion so that we can all agree on important article structure issues. If you don't take part, then you only have yourselves to blame if a consensus is passed that you disagree with.

Independent Olympic Athlete at the 2012 Summer Olympics

edit

Hi, Daniel. This is just a notification that I have merged the material from Independent Olympic Athlete at the 2012 Summer Olympics into the article Independent Olympic Participants at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and will be nominating that first article for speedy deletion here shortly. This is just a minor clean-up task so we don't have multiple articles duplicating the same topic. The material you wrote and contributed is fine, and I'd like to thank you for your contributions! Okay, now I'm not sure what's going on. I think I might have been wrong about the distinction between IOA and IOP. I started a thread at Talk:2012 Summer Olympics to clarify this, and have withdrawn my CSD nomination of the article until I know more. Cheers! Hello, Daniel Callegaro. You have new messages at Talk:Independent Olympic Participants at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

The article Independent Olympic Athlete at the 2012 Summer Olympics has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

the article's content is duplicated at Independent Olympic Participants at the 2012 Summer Olympics

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. WikiProject Eurovision: Recent changes

edit

Hello,

Please note that there have been some changes to operations surrounding Eurovision articles, these being that:

  • Template names have now been modernised and/or megred into super-templates, for example Countries in the Eurovision Song Contest has now been merged into Template:Eurovision Song Contest making it even easier to find everything under one template. If you are planning to create a new template, please keep the standardised titles in mind. Other templates have been modernised and a full list of them can be found here.
  • The Eurovision Song Contest and Junior Eurovision Song Contest articles have now been standardised to keep a consitancy throughout the project and to the genral reader too. Skeleton article drafts can be found for Eurovision Song Contest by Year and Junior Eurovision Song Contest by Year.

If you have any questions, please ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
