I am aware of Wikipedia policies about WP:Aspersions. Revert my edit after reading, and don't comment. Commenting on editor's ethnicity is inappropriate in Wikipedia, but if the editor is Pakistani editing Indian topic area without mentioning that:

I checked his edit count and pages edited by him.

He has not mentioned on his userpage, but his most edited pages are related to Pakistan:

He has joined Wikipedia to support Islamists, Muslim fundamentalists and Pakistanis. His talk page has warnings by other users. He has not violated much Wikipedia rules, as he is very much educated. 2402:3A80:1102:E15C:A867:8C24:49C6:AA9E (talk) 14:47, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

I have taken this to WP:ANI. See this link for more details. Canvassing other users to engage in WP:WITCH HUNTS is not allowed on Wikipedia and neither is attaching races or ethnic groups you hate to users for the purposes of being racist. NarSakSasLee (talk) 16:23, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

User:Manasbose used this ip address as his sockpuppet for sure. Two have tidentical language and are from bengal. He even logged after the ip was blocked after many days. He also had the severe anti muslim hate .. One must see his edits and the pages he created.Ishimline (talk) 10:52, 5 July 2021 (UTC)

@Ishimline Take this to the ANI link here: link. Not here. Thanks! -- DaxServer (talk) 10:55, 5 July 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for requesting the technical move!

Thank you so much! I wonder how it remained un noticed for so long.. Even the people who noticed it (on the talk page) didn't care to request a move. Yashovardhan (talk) 04:46, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

My first thought would be not willing to take the extra step of placing the request. Or they just couldn't find the "Move" link! SrihariThalla (talk) 04:50, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

hello Dax Server, the anantapur name has changed from Anantapur to Anantapuramu. that's why I have changed the name to AnantapuramuRamuSR2212 (talk) 03:58, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello @RamuSR2212. The article titles on Wikipedia follow a policy called Common Names. It means that the title will be the commonly used name and not the official one. Here is the link for the policy: Wikipedia:Article titles. Hope it helps! -- DaxServer (talk) 12:33, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Regarding Web Citations Which got labelled as 'Advertising pieces'

Hey, I had cited a few stories from Vroom Head India on Dasault Rafale wiki and Ashok Leyland Wiki. The Rafale story was an in-depth compilation of information on the jets. But the way I had put it back then, I believe, got the Wiki curators triggered, I apologise for the same as it was a very early edit of mine, when I was a total noob at Wikiing. The Ashok Leyland citation, however, I believe is a mistake from the curator. The citation leads to a detailed review of their product 'Bada Dost', and gives a better understanding of the product. Could you reconsider the same and let me know if it fits or not? The story is an opinion piece — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nrjp2010 (talkcontribs)

@Nrjp2010: My understanding is that Vroom Head is more of a blog and based on several articles of reviews, it would be a review site as well. Based on your username pattern, I assume you are the author for most or all of the articles on the website. My suggestion would be for you to get familiarise with Reliable Sources and then post on the Noticeboard for Reliable Sources. On this Noticeboard, several editors might review and offer their opinions. Their opinions might be the same as mine or completely different. It's always important and useful to get multiple viewpoints. Hope this is helpful! -- DaxServer (talk) 18:11, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Request

I request you not to change native names in Indian Railways, as it is a potential information, so please don't change unless you got the IAST names.
Ksh.andronexus (talk) 09:12, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

@Ksh.andronexus India has 22 recognised languages and some unrecognised. Adding all of them would clutter the article. That is why we have a Wikipedia:Manual of Style/India-related articles policy. -- DaxServer (talk) 08:16, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
@Ksh.andronexus Apparently, India page states that there are 447 native languages. Tbh, I didn't expect such a high number!! -- DaxServer (talk) 08:19, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Sure, That is the reason I used the most common languages in India. (All of the languages have more than 20 million L1 speakers.) Ksh.andronexus (talk) 09:08, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

@Ksh.andronexus Why 20 million and why not 10 million? Why only L1 and not include L2? -- DaxServer (talk) 10:20, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

There will be many languages that have more than 10 million speakers (maybe like 3-5 more as you said it will create mess), and L1 is a considered primary measurement internationally, that is the reason Mandarin Chinese is biggest language, even tho English has more speakers than it, so that was one of primary reasons. Thanks for Concerning' bout it!
Ksh.andronexus (talk) 13:16, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

One of the more reasons you can count is if L1 speakers are more than 20M it's sure a popular language, as L2 speakers will add like more than 2 times of the people. [Joke-So consider it as half life (scientifically).]Ksh.andronexus (talk) 13:22, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Regarding Awards dispute

Hello friend, Sorry for this unnecessary and unwanted edit warring between me and an editor named Sathish Kathiravan in the awards section of Raashi Khanna's wikipage..

Actually the awards (Techofes and Mahila Ratna) added by the other editor are not actually film awards, they are honours awarded by College of Guindy and Vydehi Group of Institutions(also a college) respectively..

I suggested the other editor not to add these awards(how can we add honours awarded by colleges in wikipage?).. but he didn't seem to listen to my opinion and constantly repeated his edits without any explanation from his side, which unfortunately led to edit warring..

Through this discussion, I wanted to know whether I have done a mistake or him.. 🙏🏻

Thank You 🤍 Gautham offl (talk) 12:57, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Since you have tagged me for explanation in Raashi's talkpage.. I have explained my opinion above.. 🙏🏻 Gautham offl (talk) 12:58, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

@Gautham offl I hope you could reach an agreement soon!! -- DaxServer (talk) 13:28, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Regarding sockpuppetry of a user

You tagged me and said that a user is accused of sockpuppetry. Unfortunately he/she still continues to do edits on wikipages. When will a legal action be taken on that user? Gautham offl (talk) 16:57, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

@Gautham offl The investigation is waiting for about a week for an SPI Clerk to endorse CheckUser so that technical evidence can be gathered. I'm waiting as well. You can follow the investigation here: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sathish Kathiravan. I don't know when they will endorse it. We'll have to wait. But if the user continues to disrupt, we can post on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents for more help. -- DaxServer (talk) 17:02, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

Brahmotsavam (film)

I do not have the pleasure of watching this masterpiece but cast names should be removed per WP:FILMPLOT. Not easy as it sounds when the majority of the cast is unnamed. Can you do the clean-up? -- Ab207 (talk) 14:37, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

@Ab207 Sure thing, I'll try to clean it up. Just searched on YouTube and aha, and it's not available :/ Probably a good idea not to list it. The article is well developed!! -- DaxServer (talk) 17:24, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
@Ab207 I tried my best. It was pretty difficult on determining how to refer to Samantha. It still needs more ce, but I am lost here as the movie is not available and it's a been a while I watched it. Barely remember the story. Is the movie available in India, on YouTube or Prime video, maybe even CDs? -- DaxServer (talk) 18:08, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
DaxServer, I think that works. Samantha's role is listed as "NRI from London" in many sources. Yes, the movie is available in India on ZEE5 and also on Youtube for rent. -- Ab207 (talk) 18:16, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
@Ab207 Have been meaning to ask you, what are guest appearance and cameo appearance and the difference between them? Never understood it. -- DaxServer (talk) 11:13, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
Even I'm not sure actually. They seemed to be used interchangeably and wait until you hear about friendly appearance!
IMO, small but significant roles are usually considered guest appearances while insignificant, often uncredited ones, are treated as cameos. Ab207 (talk) 11:46, 20 June 2021 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Rollback granted

Hi DaxServer. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

For some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:13, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Kakubhai Shergill. As you can see from the revert Special:Diff/1027500220, you have also changed: leading zero before date which is a WP:BADDATE, linked Bombay State to Maharashtra which are two different entities and also has been removing the word "See" before relatives or family or awards or filmography or others which you didn't have consensus to change en masse.
Regarding the dmy date, I've updated it. Thanks! -- DaxServer (talk) 07:21, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

Ramdev

Thank you for your work on the article. I think the immediate problems are all the OR and POV problems.

Far lower priority are edits like this, where I think we need to be careful how strongly we associate business practices and their consequences with Ramdev himself. I don't want to get distracted by such things until the blatant problems are clearly resolved.

I hope we can find agreement on this. --Hipal (talk) 18:39, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

@Hipal Sure, I agree. I'll post on talk page hereafter before making any direct edits, unless reverting blatant vandalism. That would be transparent and would not put any more extra work in resolving the neutrality. -- DaxServer (talk) 20:46, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

@ScottishFinnishRadish Thanks for the heads up. I've put it in my watchlist. Thanks for the reverts. It's unfortunate that the editors couldn't provide sources for Tulu. Also, from their contributions, it seems to be on a mission to update it to Tulu. I've asked for Semi RFPP last week. At this rate even an EC RFPP might be warranted. If they come back again and disrupt without sources, I'll ask for the EC RFPP. As a side note, I don't really know, outside WP, if her mother tounge is Tulu. So, we will stick to RS ;) -- DaxServer (talk) 16:05, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

@ScottishFinnishRadish Ya, true and interesting. That insta page is a troll page. I'm now wondering at what other articles they touched and updated. What do you think we should do?
  • EC RFPP (will redirect users to open an EC edit request, but no disruption to article)
  • Report users (not enough warnings)

I think EC protection is probably the best bet. We should leave the talk page so anyone else seeing the edit requests will see the past disruption and consensus. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:23, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Can you provide the link of source which you have TuluveRai123 (talk) 14:12, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

Why do you always change her mother tongue to Kannada when we change that into Tulu(knowing it accurately and personally) TuluveRai123 (talk) 14:22, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

Whenever someone changes her mother tongue to Tulu(Which is actually true) why do you revert it?? She herself has said in No.1 yaaru show. I perfectly know that her her mother tongue is Tulu. What source do you have to change her mother tongue to Kannada??? TuluveRai123 (talk) 14:28, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

Revert you made on Rakshit Shetty

I had updated his early life using a valid source from TOI https://m.timesofindia.com/entertainment/kannada/movies/news/rakshit-shetty-pruthvi-ambaar-and-others-pursue-tulus-inclusion-in-the-eighth-schedule/articleshow/83504846.cms Why do you always oppose Tulu,Bunt Community?? Do you have any personal problem with Tulu and Bunt Community?? TuluveRai123 (talk) 09:32, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

@TuluveRai123 In the edits you made to Rakshit Shetty ([1] [2] [3]), can you tell me where you have added the the above Times of India citation? I am not sure if you are aware by now, but Wikipedia needs citations. The burden is on you. Also, you have added Bunt, but the Times of India article didn't state that. The burden is on you to add sources. Please read these first:

Add the Citation as he is from a Tulu speaking family TuluveRai123 (talk) 10:16, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

You are here in Wikipedia From last 7 years but still you did not learn that Shetty is a sub-caste of Bunt Community. Why do you need a source for that. Even a uneducated person know that. Even a educated person knows that but why you don't get that?? TuluveRai123 (talk) 10:19, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

@Souryadeep630 Yes, I've read the source. But the source never attributed the registration in Bangalore to efforts by Yediyurappa or by his government. Thus this addition, regardless of when and where Tesla registered, doesn't belong in the article of B. S. Yediyurappa, but it should be added to Bangalore or Economy of Bangalore or Economy of India or a related article. -- DaxServer (talk) 12:29, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

About Rudra webseries on Raashi Khanna's wikipage

Dear editor, After the official announcement by the production house through their social media platforms, I was waiting for a news article source, stating this announcement.

Hours later, I got the source from a known media article and I have attached a citation next to "Rudra" webseries.. Please check Raashi's wikipage and kindly make any corrections if needed.

About conflict of interest you asked me

Dear editor friend, I am NOT being paid by anyone and I am NOT from any media or entertainment industry. I am just a normal college going student and I am NOT being supported by any organisation or celebrity with money. So please don't misunderstand me or relate me with any of those questions you asked in my talkpage.

The answer to all the questions you asked in my talkpage is a strong NO. I edit wikipages with my own interest. And the content which I add is not forced by anyone else upon me in favour of money etc.

You can ask why Raashi Khanna in particular, the answer is the same, its out of my own interest on my favourite celebrity star and Raashi Khanna doesn't pay me for these. In fact, I never met her in person and she doesn't know me too.

I hope you got the needed answer, sorry if I have offended you in anyway. Thank You. Gautham offl (talk) 15:48, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

@Gautham offl In the last edit you made to Raashi Khanna, you did not add sources. As per WP:BLP, you will have to add sources to the content that you add to articles of living people. If you couldn’t find sources, then you should not add content. Please remember this next time. Thanks. -- DaxServer (talk) 15:51, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

I always ensure that I do not violate wikipedia guidelines. I haven't violated any rules as far as I know. Please let me know dear editor friend, if I have breached any rule. Gautham offl (talk) 15:53, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

I have added the necessary sources related to that Dhanush's movie (my last edit) already. Didn't you find? Gautham offl (talk) 15:56, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

I never add content without newspaper source as citation. So I have added it already. Please check it. Gautham offl (talk) 15:58, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind reminder on adding source after content Gautham offl (talk) 16:04, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Akhil Akkineni

Firstly, congrats on getting rollback rights! You can now configure RedWarn with rollback settings which is much faster.

Re this edit, I feel that this one is difficult to justify. Here's how I look at it:

  1. Given name makes sense when the subject does not use surname or uses an initial (V. V. Giri, D. Ramanaidu, Krishna, etc.)
  2. When there is a surname, albeit as a first name, maybe not. Many are referred to by surnames with some exceptions (Gurajada Apparao, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Lagadapati Rajagopal, etc. )
  3. When the subject uses western name order, they must be referred by their surname (Satya Nadella, Vijay Deverakonda, Sobhita Dhulipala, etc.)

These are simplistic cases. As you know, Telugu names are complex than above. -- Ab207 (talk) 19:35, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

@Ab207 Thanks. Also, great work with the reviews for the good old movies! I wanted to give you a barnstar for it, but was lazy. Still had it in my todo list. Probably during the weekend ;)
True. I've reverted it. I think we will need consensus for this one, preferably on its talk page. I don't think I'll start that discussion at the moment, but maybe sometime in the future. -- DaxServer (talk) 19:48, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
I was replying when you added the RedWarn, and thus couldn't notice. I've configured it a day ago and it's much faster, like a VIP ticket 😂 -- DaxServer (talk) 20:04, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Haha, yeah. It's a shame that the other nominated films, like ANR's Poola Rangadu, can't be saved. AP Press Academy has the newspaper archives since 1900 but the site is temporarily down because the two states are now fighting over who should host them. Zamin Ryot is dependable but the community won't accept a single review. -- Ab207 (talk) 20:13, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
@Ab207 That's quite an archive!! I honestly didn't expect, nor did I know until you quoted them. I've always thought they would be physically archived in a library, but wow!! Looks like the fight between the states is going to continue over all things existed. Krishna water, newspaper archives, .. will have to see what's up for grabs tomorrow 🤯 -- DaxServer (talk) 20:19, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Yeah. They could have reached a agreement without cutting off its access to general public but no petty politics first! -- Ab207 (talk) 20:33, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
@Ab207 You might want to post on the nomination page and ask if an exception could be made for a single review? BTW, how can I search on Google for these archives when the text is in pdf and in Telugu? -- DaxServer (talk) 20:35, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
I don't think they're ready to make any exceptions; see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Atha Mechina Alludu. And sadly, the reviews won't show up on google or any other search. We should manually search the newspaper published after film is released. Fortunately, many of the reviews for NTR's films are safely stored on this website, like I found Justice Chowdhary's reviews here. -- Ab207 (talk) 20:46, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

The fact of the matter is that the renaming of the Khel Ratna after the great legendary Major Dhyan Chand is indeed done by Prime Minister on request of the citizens on Twitter. Now what's problem in mentioning that ???? Also still the title of Khel Ratna reads "Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna" instead of "Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna". Let not out political alignations come ahead in giving due to World's greatest hockey star and rename the page to Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna and also include the fact of its renaming by Prime Minister. Request for AWB

Hey, DaxServer. Two districts (Hanamkonda district and Warangal district) in Telangana have been renamed recently. The old incoming links need to be changed accordingly. Could this be done using AWB?

The links to be changed are as follows:

Thanks -- Ab207 (talk) 14:30, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

@Ab207 I've run for them. Special:Contributions/DaxServer Hopefully all good. However, the Infobox Subdivision "District" param still has the district suffix, like see Parkal. I think this is more of a wide problem, which could also be resolved using AWB. That can come up after this one. Do we have any consensus on not using the district suffix, given that they key for that param is already named District, or simply just a wp:commonsense !?
The templates, like {{Warangal Rural district}}, needs to be moved and the transclusions be updated. So does the categories like Category:Mandals in Warangal Rural district. Would you be able to identify, and list them? -- DaxServer (talk) 17:04, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
I think district is redundant in the infobox. I requested speedy for renaming the district categories; a few mandals and villages were transferred which I shall check and update when I get time. Is it necessary to update transclusions even if we keep the former template as a redirect? I believe you'd have a better idea about it. -- Ab207 (talk) 17:57, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
@Ab207 Templates don't need to be updated since it will be a redirect anyway, but I'd recommend it just for the sake of clarity for unaware users. -- DaxServer (talk) 18:02, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
Oh, okay. What's with the confusion at Special:WhatLinksHere/Warangal Rural district? -- Ab207 (talk) 18:04, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
Hmm, I already forgot what confused me. Looks like it seems to be good now. I'll run it, and will ping once its done. -- DaxServer (talk) 18:07, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
@Ab207 I've run it except on Jangaon, Jangaon district, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, Kakatiya Urban Development Authority, List of cities and towns in Telangana, List of revenue divisions in Telangana, List of urban local bodies in Telangana, Mahabubabad district (needs a lead restructure and clarification?), Mulugu district, P. V. Narasimha Rao, Red corridor, Telangana (probably need extra notes for this one). Could you process them manually, if possible? -- DaxServer (talk) 18:40, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
No issues, I shall go through them manually. Thanks for AWB clean up! -- Ab207 (talk) 18:57, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

Bangalore renamed to Bengaluru.

Hi I am Rishi, You recently rolled back my changes for the Bangalore City name. I don't know why you think it's less than neutral because Bangalore was officially renamed on 1st November 2014. There is no bias in my edits. I would request you to undo the roll back. I am only contributing facts. I am still new to this but I know that the changes I made was factual and does not have any other reason. People who read should get updated information whenever possible. That was the only intent with my changes. Rishikumarps (talk) 12:31, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Ar1a1yan:, not sure which article you mean, but if the article is protected, then you will need to gain more experience and become an extended-confirmed user. Or if you think the protection is no longer necessary, you will need to request to lower protection level. Also, there is are general sanctions on the caste related articles. I would suggest you not to tinker with them unless you absolutely know what you are doing. Hope this helps. -- DaxServer (talk) 19:03, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Your false warning and unexplained revert are disruptive. Please withdraw the former, and comply with WP:REVEXPLAIN for the latter. 92.24.246.11 (talk) 19:08, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

I see that you have opened a redirect request at Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects and categories and also reverted my revert. My revert might be a false positive, I could not be 100% sure. Thanks for notice. -- DaxServer (talk) 19:13, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
What tools are you using? I'm not very familiar with them, beyond the fact that they exist. I'm not sure how adding redirect templates or this series of edits would trigger an automated tool, but maybe something can be done to improve them. 92.24.246.11 (talk) 19:18, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
I use Wikipedia:RedWarn. It's not an automated tool, but provides one click buttons to quickly revert edits. I patrol edits on my watchlist and edits by unregistered IP users. You can also see the recent changes here: Special:RecentChanges (the link is on the left side menu list on every page). IP users unfortunately have a higher share of vandalism edits than that of registered users (opinion).
Being unregistered, I would not be able to ping you, and thus you will not be notified of this reply. Have you considered registering an account? -- DaxServer (talk) 19:23, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
I have, actually. However, I haven't really made friends on here, much as I've enjoyed most of the interactions I've had, so I haven't bothered since I don't really need to cultivate an identity. (If I met an editor who was, say, willing to assist with any random/stupid questions about editing etc etc I would likely create an account then, so I could pop up and it be clear it was me again.) I actually saw an essay/policy/guideline/something recently that reported some sort of survey suggesting the vast majority of IP edits are actually helpful but I cannot for the life of me find it now.
Another thing is I don't really edit any particular area but rather drift around here and there, adding snippets of information and whatnot. That's alongside the rather scattergun approach I have to reading and learning stuff generally. I chanced upon WP:SQUIRREL today and that describes me response to the internet in general, not just Wikipedia. :p
Oh, and apologies, based on your reply here I think I've misunderstood your comments and misrepresented them in my edit summaries redoing the redirect edits. 92.24.246.11 (talk) 19:33, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Edits from IP users are actually very helpful, if they know what they are doing. WP is a collective encyclopaedia, and if registration was made mandatory, it might not be where it is right now. I had not much of a clue in the beginning as well, but it's getting better by the day. Fighting vandalism will make sure it stays the same. One page I would suggest is the Wikipedia:Teahouse - this is more of a chat/help page that WP can build. You can post your questions there and you would get the help you need. I had a positive experience with it. Finding friends takes time. I might say I have one, as you can see from the barnstar above.
I think I wandered around in the beginning as well, but I stick (or stuck?) to the areas of my knowledge, not academical but where I grew up. I am not that interested in academical articles either way. I would suggest you do the same, linger around articles where you are very comfortable with.
I have seen your reverts of my reverts. I have been notified of them. If another editor disagrees with it, you would have to continue discussion with that editor! -- DaxServer (talk) 19:46, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Oh forgot to say, Wikipedia needs secondary sources. One should always cite sources when editing, unless it is already there. This is probably the basic foundation. Although there are Wikipedia:Five pillars !! -- DaxServer (talk) 19:49, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Just a note, this would be an obvious case of vandalism: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fawad_Khan&diff=next&oldid=1024383942&diffmode=source -- DaxServer (talk) 19:53, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

AWB for Vivaha Bhojanambu

Heya! Could you perform an AWB to replace the links of Vivaha Bhojanambu with Vivaha Bhojanambu (1988 film), so that the former can be converted into a dab page? Thanks in advance. -- Ab207 (talk) 11:50, 28 August 2021 (UTC)

@Ab207 Heya!! There are only 8 links for the article! It was the {{Jandhyala}} that made it look like a lot of links. I updated all of them. You can move it dab now ;) — DaxServer (talk to me) 13:51, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
Oh! I wondered why there were so many links but that template didn't occur to me. Thank you for pointing that. -- Ab207 (talk) 13:56, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
@Ab207 Quite wierd, not sure why the Special:WhatLinksHere didn't list Mayabazar and other articles you just edited. — DaxServer (talk to me) 14:02, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
Oh that aa..they were using the redirect link Vivaaha Bhojanambu. -- Ab207 (talk) 14:04, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
Do you think we could RfD it or is that spelling significant enough to keep it? Also, can you dab Rangula Ratnam — DaxServer (talk to me) 14:06, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
We can keep it per WP:CHEAP, and also tagged it with {{R from ambiguous page}} and {{R from alternate spelling}}. Yeah, I'll dabify that. -- Ab207 (talk) 14:55, 28 August 2021 (UTC)

@DaxServer Yes, i am aware of that copyright violation, i am correcting it, but the page creator took whole material from a paticular website and just copy paste it, so it will take time for me to correct it as a whole. Uttarpradeshi (talk) 12:28, 9 September 2021 (UTC)

Telangana demonyo(s)

Hello, This is regarding your recent changes in the Telangana article. People of Telangana are popularly called as "Telanganeeyulu" and people of Andhra are called "Andhrulu". I hope you are aware of this, as I could see you are a Telugu person. But I don't understand, why you have roll backed my edits. Please check the sources in Telugu

All the states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu have their native demonyms in Wikipedia English. I hope being a Telugu, you will able to understand those sources or a simple google search would able to find the "proper demonym" of Telangana. Bsr465 (talk) 13:42, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

@Bsr465 The burden of proof lies on you. Thanks — DaxServer (talk to me) 13:45, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

Despite you understand the culture and language of Telugu, since you are asking me to provide the sources. That's fine, i will try my best to provide the sources. Bsr465 (talk) 13:52, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

https://m.andhrajyothy.com/telugunews/abnarchievestorys-85316 Since it is in local language, i donno atleast you are ok Telugu language. Bsr465 (talk) 13:53, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

There are many sources in Telugu, as that's how it is used in native style. These are some of the news articles that used the popular term.

http://www.andhrabhoomi.net/content/others-2271 https://m.sakshi.com/amp/news/family/bathukamma-festival-songs-lyrics-171437 If this is ok, that's fine!! Now it is all up to your discretion, as the sources are ahead of you and you could able to understand the language. Whether you allow to representation in native language just like Tamilnadu and Andhrapradesh is up to you. If you don't want to, then it's fine. Thanks for the conversation. Coming to the actual change is that i've removed a section saying that there was a typo. India

Hello! I'm sorry to bother you on your talk page, but I wanted to ask your opinion on something. On the President of India page, under the Style portion of the infobox, it stated a source was needed for the diplomatic style of His Excellency. I'm still learning how to edit and make changes properly, but I wanted your opinion if that particular document worked for that purpose. I didn't add the style myself, just the source since it said a source was needed. I appreciate your help and for taking a look for me. Have a great day! Spf121188 (talk) 14:32, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

@Spf121188 Thanks for the addition of the document. An UN document is quite helpful. Would you rather ask at Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics as there are more people who could help you better? Good luck with editing 👍 — DaxServer (talk to me) 14:40, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

Nirala (Suryakant Tripathi)

With reference to your note on Suryakant Tripathi, in the section "About College" of the Mahisadal Raj College (in the reference mentioned by you), there is a mention, "Nirala (Surya Kanta Tripathi), the famous Hindi Poet got his schooling here". While working on the Mahisadal and Garh Kamalpur pages, I came across this reference, and felt that it could provide some link in an otherwise largely unreferenced page. If you feel that it is not enough, you can edit it out. Thanks for checking. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 00:47, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

Indra

Hello User: DaxServer, my edit of Indra page was based on the work of Max Klimburg in his 1974 work Transregional Intoxication Wine in Buddhist Gandhara and Kafiristan , university of Vienna Austria . Maybe I did not list this source correctly or something ??? There are many other sources which show how Indra was and is still worshiped by the the Kalash amongst others ( other Kafir tribes in the past ) . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kafiristani (talkcontribs) 23:10, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

Canvassing on Indira Gandhi's Talk Page

DaxServer I received your notice about canvassing. Is your complaint that I've pinged people who are likely to lean towards my point of view or that I've notified too many editors to debate the issue under discussion? Because if your issue is with the former, I can provide you with a list of all editors (NOT just the ones who favor my opinion) who have shown an interest in the infobox picture based on my review of the article's editing history? If you find think any changes need to be made, I'll revise it accordingly. Otherwise, I'll go ahead and notify the editors who are listed. Just to make sure you and I are on the same page, my main goal is not to rig the discussion in my favor but to make sure that everybody interested in the issue has a say. Thanks! Emiya1980 (talk) 00:01, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

@Emiya1980 Since you've pinged only a couple of editors and didn't provide any reason why as to just those, I assumed otherwise. I don't know how many editors one has to ping not to be seen as canvassing but too many notifications is also not recommended. I've seen in other places that people notify multiple WP Project boards (not just one as an article can fall under multiple) about the RfC and invite them. If you want to ping other editors (based on article history, related or not related to image), put a reason as to why you pinged (like you are pinging those who edited in the last X period of time, who participated in Y / Z discussions) so that it won't be precieved (by me or others) as canvassing. Regarding my comment, since you said you aren't canvassing, I'll strike off. — DaxServer (talk to me) 09:56, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
DaxServer You can leave the canvassing notice. At the time, I was trying to bring in people that favor my point of view so that qualifies as canvassing. With that being said, I am willing to rectify any bias that I have created by doing so. Would you like me to ping all editors who have made changes to the infobox picture within the past year regardless of their viewpoint?Emiya1980 (talk) 22:46, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

October 2021

Hi @DaxServer, thank you for the time and attention you give to the community of Wikipedia. I have done edits always in good faith yet if there's obnoxious behaviour from me, I perceive it to be a genuine concern. I thus hereby would temporarily maintain a low profile for a month or two whilst reading instructive articles about editing. I don't want to comment upon the sanctions as I would be willing to accept such repercussions as a result of my misdemeanor. So I would be happy to be sanctioned rightly if you pursue that way.

Also, I would request your time to refer me to 'WP:' articles that instruct regarding what I did wrong. Appu (talk) 15:08, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

Legend of Meenakshi

Hi Daxserver. Nice communicating with you. You reverted my edit on the page of Meenakshi. So, I am here to give proof. The original research about this legend was done by director K. Shankar and K. P. Arivanandham. This same legend has been made into a 1989 tamil devotional film Meenakshi Thiruvilayadal. This film was censored by Central Board of Film Certification and the whole story was proved true and accepted widely by the Indian Government officials of Board of film certification. I added the same story of Goddess Meenakshi under the legend section. Thus I request you to consider checking and undo the deletion you did. Rudhra Dheera (talk) 17:01, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

@Rudhra Dheera Welcome to Wikipedia. You need to provide reliable sources to add content to articles. Merely the fact that you know the subject of the article doesn't mean you can add the content. Also, movies are ... movies. They are a work of visual art used to simulate experiences that communicate ideas, stories, perceptions, feelings, beauty, or atmosphere, from the article Movie. That's not what we consider a reliable source. These might help you:

Puffery at Chiranjeevi

I have to agree with the IP editor in removing the "widely regarded" bit. This is a stereotypical peacock term and has no business being in the article. The subject has plenty of accolades with which to demonstrate their talent. Using such terms is against our guidelines here and should not be done. Nevertheless, if you feel it should be included please take the issue to Talk:Chiranjeevi and get consensus to do so. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 16:40, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

@Hammersoft Thanks for the note. I've wanted for so long to add more sources to it, as I rather saw it as WP:EXTRAORDINARY claim, but never got to it. While you're here, may I also ask if the second sentence at Sridevi "Regarded as one of the greatest stars of ..." is also a peacock term. I think it is, a no-brainer indeed. I've seen this kind of phrasing on many articles, and had concluded they all might fall under the extraordinary claim!! What's your opinion? — DaxServer (talk) 16:53, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
MOS:PEACOCK does a good job of covering it. In general, no it's not acceptable. I know a lot of articles have such passages. I remove them as I find them. Go with the facts, supported by reliable, secondary sources. --Hammersoft (talk) 19:00, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Pushhkar Hope you are all good as well! Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Sorry, I meant to revert only one edit at Mukesh Chhabra but failed to notice it reverted all. I've restored your changes Special:Diff/1066639674. Per WP:ELMIN, we add one official link, and there is one on the article. If you think Facebook or Instagram links are better than the official website, please replace. And the body of the article should not contain external links, like the IMDB links. I've removed them. Also, remember to add edit summaries so others would know what you are adding. Did I miss anything else? Happy editing! — DaxServer (talk · contribs) 10:34, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Sanctions

What is helpful, what is not.. Is not decided in the moment, but later on, and it is pretty subjective.. One can see something as very helpful, which others wouldn't suggest it is at all.

It is all just a Windböe.

Converting list to tables in filmography

Following Daresh Mohan's request on my talk page, I'm trying to convert old bullet lists in filmography to tables. These entries are generally in this format:

* ''[[Maharshi]]'' (2019)

So here's what I'm doing. I'm finding and replacing the following:

  1. * → |
  2. ( → ||
  3. ) → || || $ |-
  4. $→ (new line)

This is what we'll end up with

| ''[[Maharshi]]'' || 2019 || ||
|-

But it gets trickier because * ''[[Maharshi (film)|Maharshi]]'' (2019) is coverted to | ''[[Maharshi || film || || $ |-| Maharshi]]'' || 2019 || || $|-

However, I can compesate this by converting || film || || $ |- → (film)

Now shit hits the fan when * ''[[Maharshi (2019 film)|Maharshi]]'' (2019) is coverted to | ''[[Maharshi || 2019 film || || $ |-| Maharshi]]'' || 2019 || || $|-

Here, I'm unable to select a string for conversion because the year 2019 could be any YYYY. So it needs to be changed manually. Thankfully, such links are very few, so it ain't big issue. But I'm curious to know if there's an easier way to achieve this. Thoughts? -- Ab207 (talk) 18:55, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

I will look into it ;) — DaxServer (talk) 09:21, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

@Ab207 You can do that with a regex editor (preferably editing the particular section). The Visual editor doesn't support replacing with a multi-line text, thus an external editor. Check out WP:JWB, an AWB alternative. I didn't use, but heard it's good

Find: \*\s?''(.*)''\s\((\d{4})\)

Replace:

|-
| $2 || ''$1'' || ||

Here, I ignored the | 1985 || ''[[Vande Mataram (1985 film)|Vande]]'' || || which displays Vande instead of Vande Mataram. I'd just leave it for manual corrections, unless they are a regular occurrences. — DaxServer (talk) 10:29, 15 January 2022 (UTC) (Updated 12:34, 15 January 2022 (UTC))

Thanks! I've never used it before but I'll check it out. -- Ab207 (talk) 12:50, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
I think for JWB to work, AWB perms need to have been granted; which I see Ab207 has not been. LibreOffice has a regexp based search-replace which might work for this (though perhaps the regexp given above might need a bit of tweaking. If you are by any chance Vim/Emacs user, it becomes easier. I, a vim novice, did somewhat similar (but not as complicated) stuff recently in under 10 minutes with vim.
saw this while figuring out which place would be best to respond, regexp stuff was eye-catching and couldn't stop myself from replying hemantha (brief) 16:17, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Wasn't aware JWB needs AWB perms. The Shreya Goshal list is one looooooooong list!! — DaxServer (talk · contribs) 16:29, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
@Ab207 I looked into why the editor I see already had a regexp replace, and it's because I had wikEd enabled in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets. Find can be used as above (my looser version might catch more if the bulleted list part is visually selected before clicking replace all); for Replace \n needs to be added as below. Add as many || in the Replace string as needed for columns.
Find: \*\s*'*\[*([^\]']*)\]*'*[^(]*\((\d{4})\) Replace: |-\n| $2 || ''[[$1]]'' ||
wikEd doesn't show up if "New wikitext mode" beta feature is enabled. hemantha (brief) 15:32, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
Hemantha, hey, thanks for the tip. I enabled wikEd but unable to execute the find and replace. Looks like it may take some time to get used to it. -- Ab207 (talk) 07:13, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, new vector skin changes make it difficult to enable; though once enabled, there seem to be no further issues. If you aren't seeing the wikEd toolbar at all, the enabling button/logo is now hidden under the Vector menu dropdown. Then enable the "Use wikEd" button and then the /R/ button next to the Find-Replace bars to have find-replace interpreted as regexps. Note that you need to be using "Source editing" (aka wikitext editor) not Visual Editing. hemantha (brief) 09:02, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
hemantha, ah yes. It's working now. Thanks! -- Ab207 (talk) 12:51, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

About Alert

Hey Daxserver , you left a message on my talk page... as a new editor I want to know what's this notice about ??? I didn't understand that notice ... Can you tell me in details ??? Refsceud (talk) 12:31, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Refsceud. I've noticed that you've added several dates of births on several actor/actresses articles. Some of them included references to Bookmyshow, others to a "profile page" on websites like Times of India. All articles about living people are covered by Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons (abbreviated BLP) policy. This policy is stricter than almost any other policy. All editors editing pages which fall under this policy (living people) are automatically subjected to something called "discretionary sanctions", specifically BLP topics in your case. Not everyone knows about it. That's why we notify them using the blue box message like on your page. It is a reminder that editors must take precautions about the content they add- like adding reliable sources (RS) (also see Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources) so that the content can be verified (V). All BLP articles must contain references, and anything that is unsourced must be removed. Sources like Bookmyshow or Filmibeat are not reliable. Some like Republic World are deprecated (meaning banned) and should not be used.
I've updated some articles that you've edited with the DOB with reliable sources. You might want to check those edits so you know what type of sources I'm adding. Also, checkout our film workgroup Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force (ICTF) and some FAQ at Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force/ICTF FAQ (ICTFFAQ). It has a list of sources that are considered good and not-so-good. You can also questions on the noticeboard Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force. Additionally, we have an India project: Wikipedia:WikiProject India.
Let me know if you have any questions ;) — DaxServer (talk · contribs) 13:25, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
@Refsceud I've reverted your citation needed on Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani, as they are already sourced in article body. We don't need them everytime. Once is enough. ;) — DaxServer (talk · contribs) 13:39, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

Just another adventure. It’s been an odd, unexpected 8 months. Still waiting for a hospital appointment to investigate a heart murmur. Wish I was. Funny story. I was going to take part in a drug test for Parkinson’s and at the end of the screening they found a heart murmur. I fell off a short ladder at the beginning of the month, broke two ribs. A week after the fall extreme pain had me going to A&E. An MRI to make sure nothing was punctured turned up lesions on my liver which are almost certainly secondary cancer. But I feel pretty healthy for 79. Doug Weller talk 20:06, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

I have read the above message. I will reply when I have a moment. — DaxServer (talk · contribs) 19:21, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
@Ab207 I've changed the Aadavaallu Meeku Joharlu to dab and used User:Qwertyytrewqqwerty/DisamAssist to update links from the dab page, looks there are only 5 or so pages that link to it. I hope this is the intention? I would have used AWB if there are a lot of pages that link to it. In this case, it's clear it's just the same effort of using this script and AWB and I just went with the script. No preferences, just the mood I guess 😅 Regarding Krishna, I've read a discussion somewhere sometime ago which said not to mass update redirects [using [semi-]automated tools]. So, I think I want to skip Krishna for now :) — DaxServer (talk · contribs) 21:29, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
Ah, okay! On Krishna, I don't think it applies when these redirects are bad. Since Krishna Ghattamaneni is neither the common name nor credited name, there's no reason why it should exist in the first place. Anyway, thanks for the clean-up. -- Ab207 (talk) 04:33, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Since the Krishna Ghattamaneni redirect was created in 2008, links must have crept in over the years. What I do in general is while copy editing an article, I'd update the redirects or use redirects if that's a better one - in the article, not to the article — DaxServer (talk · contribs) 10:29, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, maybe that's a better way of handling it. I've noticed that in some cases, the said redirect is piped again as "Krishna." So I thought these links can be updated to reflect the correct practice. -- Ab207 (talk) 12:29, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
That'd make sense. I still haven't decided if I want to boldy update them using AWB. But if there is a movie redirect from old page name to new page name, I'm all ears :) — DaxServer (talk · contribs) 12:36, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

Two curious cases

At Dileep: Name of a crime victim is not censored in any article in Wikipedia, as per WP:NOTCENSORED and WP:PUBLICFIGURE. Regarding [8], although not cited there, there are many sources that mentions Dileep and Bhavana in connection with the same case, see [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. It should not be censored.

At Bhavana: Here, the existence of the incident itself is erased from history. The excuse they use is 1(b) of Terms of Use, but nowhere does it instructs to remove content that violate any local laws. Instead, it is written for those who comes under the ambit of those local laws, that those editors should be cautious as the local authorities may apply their laws on the editor if he/she resides under that jurisdiction, even though Wikipedia "may not agree with such actions". The thing is, Wikipedia does not comes under Indian jurisdiction. Why should an Australian or Sri Lankan care about Indian law to edit Wikipedia which is hosted in the U.S.? Wikipedia is definitely above Indian law.

WP:NOTCENSORED clearly states: "Content will be removed if it is judged to violate Wikipedia's policies (especially those on biographies of living persons and using a neutral point of view) or the law of the United States (where Wikipedia is hosted)", not Indian law. WP:PUBLICFIGURE states: "If an allegation or incident is noteworthy, relevant, and well documented, it belongs in the article—even if it is negative and the subject dislikes all mention of it". So, it cannot be censored. 2409:4073:4E94:909A:247B:7359:550A:C965 (talk) 17:31, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

The actress herself has came out publicly. So she herself is fine identifying as victim, so what's "their" problem? Even if she had, Wikipedia is NOT censored. But I don't think there's any complication anymore.--2409:4073:200D:BFB:C81C:A84A:F8C3:619A (talk) 20:50, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

Hello there. Re this edit, I noticed that you've cited WP:FILMOGRAPHY and replaced Yes with checkmarks. However, Example #2 on that page which is intended for filmmakers uses yes templates, so do FLs like David Lynch and Tarantino while there's no precedent for checkmarks. -- Ab207 (talk) 15:51, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

Maybe we should also start formatting the awards in all articles in that way? Do you know if there is a MOS guide for the award tables as well like the filmography? Following me around

Please read Wikipedia:Harassment#Wikihounding. Today you reached Lavanya suicide case, immediately within couple of hours, after I edited it. There are several such examples I can list. This being the most recent. I am getting a sense that you are following my edits. Please stop. --Venkat TL (talk) 13:43, 17 February 2022 (UTC)

I'd like to address them. Could you tell me about all such instances? — DaxServer (t · c) 14:21, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
Why don't you start with the above. Venkat TL (talk) 14:38, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
I've put it to my watchlist so the edits come in the RC feed thus allowing me to monitor the changes. My edits are constructive to the article and in no way "to cause distress" to you. — DaxServer (t · c) 14:54, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
Look, I will say this one last time. After your recent stunt at ANI, where I clearly noted that I will keep my distance, I am trying to avoid you. You have been muted accordingly. If you continue to turn up on pages after I edit, I will have to seek help. Venkat TL (talk) 15:26, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
Please do not misunderstand that keeping distance doesn't mean I don't get to remove WP:SYNTH content that you introduced into the article. Harassment is a serious allegation and I don’t have any intentions to harass anyone here, you or otherwise. I know I'm better than that. I'd also ask you to reread the Harassment policy that you linked.
Either way, how long do you think in your view I should not turn up on pages after you edited, so you don't see me "following you around"? — DaxServer (t · c) 18:45, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
Forget it. I'll let you go like I did to Dusrapahelu, Lobstobar and others; for my own sake. Just not worth my time. I'll take comfort that other editors will take the slack, right now or later. We'll interact when necessary.
Others who're reading this, please see the SYNTH added in the past: [21] (related discussion), Neo-Nazism in India (AfD), [22] (tagged for copyvio-revdel; SYNTH is wikilinking far-right Hindu groups to Sangh Parivar while the source doesn't say so). Help Needed for Citation

Hi,

I am working on the citation tag you added for Draupadi. I had a question. I know link to jstor is acceptable but are researchgate and academia.edu links acceptable too? These are repositories for journals and scholarly research similar to jstor.

Thanks (Panchalidraupadi (talk) 16:43, 3 March 2022 (UTC))

@Panchalidraupadi Since this is a mythological character, I'd say academic scholarship is to be preferred over contemporary journalism. That being said, it depends on what kind of sources you have. Wikipedia talk:Hinduism-related topics notice board might be able to help you further. One thing to note: do not use self-published sources. — DaxServer (t · c) 17:12, 3 March 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification. (Panchalidraupadi (talk) 17:17, 3 March 2022 (UTC))

Hope it helped. Good luck with your editing :) DaxServerOnMobile (talk) 17:58, 3 March 2022 (UTC)

@DaxServer: I have cleaned up the page for Draupadi, changed the tone as per Wiki standards, added references and revamped the sections following the same standards used in other pages of mythology. I might have to add better references in a place or two, but otherwise others cater to Wiki rules. Please confirm if I can remove the tone and citations tags.

Also, I gotta add some copied template in Arjuna page bcoz I copied one section "Literary Background" from there. Will do it shortly.

Thanks

Homosexuality in India

Please check the sources before you make tags about needing verification and citation.

As for my addition of homosexuality and pedastry being prevalent in Central Asia, but not much in India, it is present here [28].

Urdu poetry mentioning "Amarad Parast" or those who have love for boys and young men is here [29].

All of the sources I've cited and are written by bonafide historians and scholars anyway. Hope you can remove your tags. And btw try looking at Talk:Kamlesh Tiwari before accusing me of "bigotry". Re: The Kashmir Files

I believe I know what you have in mind here but I am intentionally (at least for the moment) not attempting to correct every mistaken contention about wikipedia policy etc from some of the newer editors. That's because it is very easy to get sucked into endlessly arguing the weakest point made by an editor and missing out on how the article can actually be improved.
Speaking of the latter: my read of the talkpage discussion is that there is a general opinion (albeit not necessarily held by everyone) that the Box Office section can be a bit more detailed than the current version while not spread to the lengths of this previous one. However, no one has yet taken the initiative to actually sit down and compose a concrete few sentences to implement that. This is understandable given that everyone is a volunteer, but IMO until that happens the discussion will remained stuck in the abstract/extremes. I believe RegentsPark and you were thinking along the same lines in your previous comments and believe that may be a better place to expend effort on than to argue the details of each talkpage comment.
Posting this here rather than on the article talkpage so as not to get into such meta-topics there. Hope that's ok. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 02:16, 20 March 2022 (UTC)

Totally understandable! I wanted to reply originally but the arguments posed were very basic and I wasn't sure where to start. Since it remains unanswered I believe SGiaNaksh will only repeat them. It wasn't a section like Special:Permalink/1078205056#"Fictional" self contradiction where I could link to WP:FILMHIST and let others read thru it.
Regarding Box office, yes. It needs more detailed info. I'd put something into the talk section a version I think would be suitable and see what others comment. Didn't have much time/focus on my hands until, but should be good this afternoon. I wish WP:ICTF involves more into the article, I left a note on its talk page anyway. — DaxServer (t · m · c) 12:06, 20 March 2022 (UTC)

Your close of Valavanur railway station AfD

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Hi! I'm writing to express a concern about your close of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Valavanur railway station. Your close mentions that WP:V was satisfied (WP:DEL-REASON #7 does not apply), but many users had lingering concerns about whether or not the article meets the general notability guideline (WP:DEL-REASON #8). The close did not address this and it's not clear to me that there was any consensus on the AfD about that, even though it's a policy-based reason for deletion. I'm wondering if you'd be willing to self-revert your close and either relist the AfD pending more discussion or close it as no consensus without prejudice for renomination. The current justification of the keep close and many of the pro-keep !votes don't seem to be sufficient given that it does not address all of the deletion reasons credibly given in the discussion. As consensus is ascertained by the quality of the arguments given on the various sides of an issue, as viewed through the lens of Wikipedia policy, I'm left scratching my head as to why failure to meet WP:GNG was not considered in the closing summary. — Mhawk10 (talk) 17:16, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Mhawk10 Apparently, the creator of the article ignored the WP:AFC process as the initial article was draftified; and simply re-created the article, which is why I believe it ended up at AfD. Reliable sources were searched for and added, after the initial arguments that sources would be available. All the draftification !votes challenged that the article is unsourced [and keepers' arguments of sources must exist], which was later resolved, thus making their arguments moot. That satisfied the WP:DEL-REASON #7. There is a general consensus that railway stations are notable and that we keep them, which satisfies #8. Thus is my assessment of the consensus. I see that my closure statement is a tad bit lacking in explaining the same and I'm open to amend it. I won't be reverting it for a relist or a no-consensus re-closure. If you disagree, you might want to pursue WP:DRV. Let me know which path you'd like to take further. P.S. In case if you're wondering, we were both editing (me closing) at the same time and thus I was not able to see your comment until after I closed it, altho my closure would still be the same :) — DaxServer (t · m · c) 18:57, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
Just to be clear, the nominator explicitly referenced WP:GNG in their comment, and I explicitly referred to "sigcov", (i.e. WP:SIGCOV) in my analysis that the station was marginal. WP:NBUILDING, which refers to Artificial features related to infrastructure, specifies that such features have to be notable under GNG. I find it a bit odd that railroad stations would be an exception to this guideline, since they're artificial features related to rail infrastructure. I don't think that there is any guideline that says that railroad stations are inherently notable, though if you could point me to this I would be more than happy to drop the matter here. — Mhawk10 (talk) 19:08, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
I'll find some relevant past discussions and will ping you once I have them — DaxServer (t · m · c) 19:11, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
I understand that in many, many cases, railroad stations are kept. There are people who are really, really into railroads and write whole books about particular rail lines that include in-depth descriptions of each railroad station along the way. I'm just wondering if there's a community consensus that railroad stations are per se notable, as shown by some policy or guideline, or if this is just a common outcome because there is ordinarily enough to achieve WP:GNG. — Mhawk10 (talk) 19:18, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

Arjuna Wikipedia page

Hello,

I have been following your edits on Draupadi page and knew the tremendous effort you put in.

On similar lines I would like to bring your attention to Arjuna Wikipedia's recent update where it is updated that Arjuna is fictional.

As you know, we cannot say he is fictional or real. He is just an Epic character. He can't be proved to be real character and he can't be proved to be fictional either. You can find my arguments on talk page if you wish to see.

The matter is complex and cannot be arbitrarily resolved for Wikipedia entry. So kindly look into it.

Thanks and regards, Lakshman Reddy. LakshmanReddy72 (talk) 11:44, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi. Have you created multiple accounts in Wikipedia? Multiple accounts are only allowed for legitimate purposes. Read more at Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry. Just an FYI.
Either way, re Arjuna, I don't have any interest to dig down and build consensus towards whether he's whatever he's. I've the article on my watchlist anyway. I'd recommend approaching Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics and invite other potentially interested editors to the discussion, if you'd like. Requesting you to delete an article

There is a article named K.G.F: Chapter 3 which is just a redirect for K.G.F: Chapter 2,which is of no use. So I request you to delete that article TuluveRai123 (talk) 04:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

Sure, I’ll look into it. Thanks for informing me — DaxServer (mobile) (t · m · c) 07:13, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
@TuluveRai123 It seems there's traffic incoming to the redirect [31] I don't think I want to delete it. Perhaps it could be directed somewhere else, I don't know. I'd suggest posting at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task forceDaxServer (t · m · c) 13:46, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

stale usernames

Hi. If usernames haven't been used in the last 2/3 weeks we don't care really. Obviously anything promo in their user space should go, but we don't block really ancient unused ones. Secretlondon (talk) 14:11, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

CSD G13s

Hello, DaxServer,

Please review WP:G13. You are tagging User pages for CSD G13 that are not eligible for that criteria. The only pages that qualify for CSD G13 deletion criteria are any pages that have not been edited by a human in six months found in:

  • Draft namespace,
  • Userspace with an {{AFC submission}} template
  • Userspace with no content except the article wizard placeholder text.

Just because a User page hasn't been edited in years doesn't make it eligible for CSD G13 speedy deletion. There are likely hundreds of thousands of old User pages that haven't been edited in years but, as of now, Wikipedia policy has not been changed to address them. I have restored those pages tagged G13. In one case, the deleting administrator found a different CSD criteria that he believed applied to the pages instead. Please read up on all of the CSD criteria you have been using so you are using them appropriately. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 22:44, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

Hello Liz. I thought G13 applied where I tagged them with. I believe I saw the deleting admin using U5 in some cases. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll review the CSD once again! — DaxServer (mobile) (t · m · c) 06:20, 23 April 2022 (UTC)

Hello there, I wanted to know how can we move a draft page to our userspace draft. I wanted help with this article Draft:Niriksha Shetty TuluveRai123 (talk) 05:53, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

Dear concerned, I'm only doing edits to improve wikipedia and the information authenticity. Neither I'm paid for the edits, nor I'm devoted towards any article of my recent edits. All the information I provided was accompanied by a source. Still it was removed by you and @Firestar464 and even the information provided by @Firestar464 wasn't having any single source and still it's there. So why this discrimination? Anyways, I'm here to tell you that I'm not gonna edit or waste my time any more because more than 50℅ article of Durga and other affiliated articles as well are written wrong, without sourcing and are according to personal views denoting that the editor is devoted towards that particular diety. But the truth is that Durga is the most supreme form also known as mahadevi, the creator of Trimurti and Tridevi along with Sadasiva. Moreover, you are claiming that the provided source for this info is not reliable, but just have a look on it once, those are the original texts of gitas and purans. Here's the source again.[1] I have also formerly provided a quora source regarding same which also just discuss what actually is written in the holy texts. I'm afraid to say this but wikipedia is not more trustable especially in this case where editors are rejecting the authentic obvious info. and major sources from the holy texts and instead they are just witing their personal views and mentioning the dieties they like or to whom they are devoted. Still, I express apologies. I'm not gonna edit any further and will only trust the official books of vedas, gitas and purans from now. Thanks. Keshavv1234 (talk) 05:39, 1 May 2022 (UTC)

Removing of VD 11

Dear Sir I Did Not get Reason Why You Remove VD 11 Page There is Thalapathy 66 Page also the movie Started From March 🙄🙄🙄 what is difference between VD 11 And Thalapathy 66 Page Shiva20202020 (talk) 14:08, 1 May 2022 (UTC)

Hello @Shiva20202020. All future films need to have a production that is notable per WP:NFF. VD 11 has done a puja ceremony 10 days ago. Not sure if they started shooting. In such case, there is no evidence that the shooting process is notable. As to Thalapathy 66, I've listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force/Future films, so that others could take a look at it. If you don't know already, we have project spaces for India and Indian cinema:

IDBI bank

Hey why do you edit IDBI bank Wikipedia? It is classified as Government bank in India. RBI reclassified it as private sector but ministry of finance , central vigilance commission,DIPAM every where ot is PSU in India. Just go to DIPAM, finance ministry website and confirm there before editing brother. I am an indian citizen and i know IDBI has a government structure. It is owned bu LIC of india (49%)(100% Government company) and Ministry of finance(46%)...so total 95% is held by Government sector in the bank. 2409:4053:2D11:7386:B6EB:D534:C84A:7363 (talk) 19:28, 3 May 2022 (UTC)

Kishmish

Hello DaxServer I I hope you're doing well. I came across your edit to Kishmish about Template:Sources exist. I assume the sources back it's notablity. I'm not sure about 3 bengali language sources listed. The review available are mostly in bengali language. Thanks. C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 00:53, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

Hi @C1K98V Hope you're doing well as well! From the links you've added on the article's talk page, I'd say Anandabazar would be a reasonable RS for film reviews in Bengali world. The other 3, I couldn't say. Technically, for a WP:NFO, we'd need at least 2 reviews from [nationally] known critics; and we already have Times of India review in the article and Anandabazar's would be the second one, if added to the article. We usually keep the articles in WP:AFD even when the review is in a local language and thus might not be understandable "nationally". As such, I think the article would survive an AFD, and so I've added the sources exist template. Hope it helps ;) — DaxServer (t · m · c) 18:14, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
Where we can find Bengali language editors, who can contribute with Articles related to Bengali cinema. I know an admin with Bengali language as proficiency Titodutta, but he is not much active here these days. Please guide me. Overall 4 sources are available all in Bengali language apart from Times. Thanks for the ping User:C1K98V. This is a recently released movie. Try Bengali-language sources also. Search in Google News or using User:Titodutta/scripts/SearchHelper.js with query like "কিসমিস", or as it is a common word try "কিসমিস দেব" (without quotes).
