On marking edits as minor

[edit]

Information icon Hi EmergentAnarchy! I noticed that you recently made an edit and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typos or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not minor, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you.

Hey. I have noticed that you mark a lot of your edits as minor. They however do not appear to be such and you should stop marking them as such. As explained by the note above, on wikipedia minor means something that couldn't be disputed, so mostly obvious grammar and sentence structure matters. Any edit that adds or removes content is not minor, unless it was to remove very obvious vandalism. I recommend reading WP:MINOR for more information. It is not official wikipedia policy, but explains this well established editing norm about what is minor and what is not. I hope this will help you better contribute to Wikipedia. If you have questions I or better yet Wikipedia:Teahouse can help. Have a nice day! Finfixer (talk) 21:07, 29 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Sylvain Bromberger

[edit]

On 2 June 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sylvain Bromberger, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Sylvain Bromberger described a state in which all actual answers to a question are known to be false, even though the question has a correct answer? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Sylvain Bromberger. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Sylvain Bromberger), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

Typo

[edit]

Hi, I work to exterminate the specific typo "occurence", and for a little while I neglected this duty. I've looked recently and found that a large majority of your pages created feature the typo in their Distribution sections. It is correctly spelled "occurrence", with a double-c and a double-r. Please keep this in mind. Thank you. Okkirae∤(±) 19:11, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sorry! EmergentAnarchy (talk) 19:13, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's alright. About 0.000081% of all pages containing the word "occurrence" are misspelled that way (32 pages contain the exact word in either a siced reference or a redirect title); it happens. Okkirae∤(±) 19:20, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Great job in adding information about species undocumented on Wikipedia! Many open-source applications like iNaturalist need these articles written for their users to correctly identify species, and in the age of AI where many choose not to rely on human-written information, these contributions are essential. Parameters in IUCN refs

[edit]

Hey there, thanks for all your edits cleaning up IUCN references! I saw a couple of your edits on List of Sphenisciformes by population and List of Pterocliformes by population, and wanted to make sure you knew about two parameters in the {{cite iucn| template.

The years for both of the altered references were correct, but they needed the |amends= parameter for the "(amended version of 20xx assessment)" page and |errata= for the "(errata version published in 20xx)" page. Super minor stuff at the end of the day, but will just help to keep the references standardized.

Thanks again! I think a lot of the reference mistakes you've been cleaning up are probably mine, lol - so I really appreciate your work. DuckWrangler97 (talk) 23:06, 13 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Will add those parameters in future. EmergentAnarchy (talk) 23:11, 13 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

THANK YOU!

[edit]

I see on Ernia you helped fix a lot of the failed parameters on the references/citations. I was so worried because I was unsure how to fix them and I thought I would get in trouble at some point. I asked my Wikipedia-assigned mentor but he is inactive right now. I'm glad you dropped by! There's still some citations that need fixing and have broken parameters (in red). VolumeRunner (talk) 19:10, 25 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome. You won't get in trouble as a new editor, but i recommend reading Template:Cite web for the correct names. A lot of the broken ones are there because the archive links don't work, so i wasn't able to add a date. And i'm not sure what's going on with sources 22, 23, 24, and 27. Are you citing the Lists of number-one hits in Italy? In that case it should be replaced with something external to Wikipedia. EmergentAnarchy (talk) 19:23, 25 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I'm not sure either. I'll just manually add the citations through the English citation templates instead of copying and translating those ones. That seems to have broken the refs. VolumeRunner (talk) 19:47, 25 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, the parameters only work in english. I clean up the unsupported parameter category occassionally, and most of the broken ones are foreign languages. EmergentAnarchy (talk) 19:57, 25 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Good article nominations RfC

[edit]

Hi EmergentAnarchy,

There is an ongoing Request for Comment (RfC) at Wikipedia:Good article nominations/August 2026 RfC, which you may be interested in because in the past year, you have nominated or reviewed more than one good article nomination. This message has also been sent to all subscribers to the Good Article Gazette. The RfC contains many proposals (33 at the time of writing), which are split into the following categories: nominators, reviewers, reviews, volunteer roles, reviewing initiatives, and others. However, you are more than welcome to add any proposals of your own that you wish to put to the community.

By the end of September, all the proposals will have been closed by an uninvolved editor, either as a consensus for one of the options or with no consensus. At this point, editors will be invited again to develop these proposals into coherent policy and implement them.

Thank you for your contributions to the good articles project, and I look forward to your input! (in solidarity), JacobTheRox(talk|contributions) 16:02, 11 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi EmergentAnarchy, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! TechnoSquirrel69 (talk) 20:45, 14 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi, EmergentAnarchy. I'm just posting to let you know that List of hornbills – a list that you have been heavily involved with – has been chosen to appear on the Main Page as Today's featured list for September 28. The TFL blurb can be seen here. If you have any thoughts on the selection, please post them on my talk page or at TFL talk. Regards, Giants2008 (Talk) 01:23, 22 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
