Please be more details on your reason

Hi Explicit,

Can you please explain in detail why my article was deleted? This will help me better understand which areas need to be corrected. Hafizastronaut (talk) 04:11, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

@Hafizastronaut: Hi, it seems that you are referring to Zetrix (blockchain), which was deleted by Jimfbleak. There is also Draft:Zetrix Blockchain, which was moved into draftspace by Melcous. You will need to contact these users so they can provide you the reasons for their actions. plicit 05:41, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

CSD G13s for 11/12

Hello, Explicit,

I hope you are well. You might have noticed that we have a greater number of expiring drafts over the next 24 hours than usual (see G13 soon list), many of which are "expiring" in the 0600 UTC hour. There are about 100 drafts that are the result of the late, prolific content creator User:Doncram delaying deletion of a lot of drafts he was working on. As soon as I saw this was coming, I tried to get some interest from other editors who are interested in completing some of his unfinished work and I think some of those "coming due" drafts have been edited. But if you are checking out G13s during this hour and you come across some of Doncram's work that hasn't been addressed yet, perhaps both of us can postpone deletion on them by making a minor edit to the page. I know you do this with some other active content creators so let's give other editors a chance to polish up some of these drafts and see if they can evenually find their way to main space. I thhink the majority of them are concentrated in that 06:00-07:00 UTC hour. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 22:25, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of Atwood Magazine's Wikipedia Page

Hi Explicit,

I'm the owner and editor-in-chief of Atwood Magazine, and it recently came to my attention that about two months ago, Atwood's Wikipedia page was deleted – and I wanted to reach out as I believe you were involved in that.

I recognize and acknowledge my own bias but I would like to strongly petition for the page's reinstatement. Atwood is a globally-read music publication with readership in the millions. It is an unfortunate but true fact of the industry that music publications don't "write" about other music publications, but for the thousands of artists we cover each year, and all the blood, sweat, tears, and sheer hours that go into our writers' work, Atwood Magazine deserves its entry and is notable for contributing to music culture, discussion, and debate.

For context, Atwood Magazine is a ten-year-old music magazine with a staff of 50 writers distributed globally, with the specific mission of highlighting musicians (mostly independent artists) via editorial reviews, features, interviews, and more. Atwood also has partnerships with other music and multimedia companies, such as B-Drop TV (based in Los Angeles) - via our partnership, we give independent artists a spotlight and help to further introduce them and their music to our broad audience.

Integrity is of the utmost importance. It was speculated that Atwood is a pay-to-play platform, or that we paid for an award; we do not accept payment for reviews, never have and never will. It's an ugly, despicable practice that we will never engage in. We have also never paid for any awards that our site has received, and were only notified after the fact that we had received those awards.

Having a Wikipedia page has been helpful to our millions of readers to understand who we are better. I would be happy to engage in this discussion further with you as well.

Please reconsider this deletion, thank you! Mmosk92 (talk) 17:03, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

@Mmosk92: Hi, since the page was deleted as a result of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Atwood Magazine, I cannot unilaterally undelete the page. You will need to address the concerns raised at the deletion discussion and prove that the subject meets notability guidelines. Additionally, as you are the own of the magazine, you are encouraged to read the Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion policy and our conflict of interest guideline. plicit 00:49, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of my user page

Good afternoon,

I'm aware of the reasons for removal (even though I disagree, and was not given a chance to say anything about it). I would like to know from you which areas specifically I would need to remove to get my page back up.

I have a website, so believe me when I say, I have no need to use Wikipedia as a web host, and was not intending to do so. I have no idea what you would class as that, given the rule itself is entirely up to personal interpretation. In my honest opinion, my page was just a little bit of information about me, which is what a user page is for.

So, I would just like to know which parts to remove so I can get it back up.

Thanks,

TheKJChambers (talk) 15:39, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

@TheKJChambers: Hi, please see the user page guidelines. As it states there, you are allowed to host content related to Wikipedia and a small amount of suitable unrelated material. The content on your userpage at the time looked more like an article. You are free to recreate it with the aforementioned guideline in mind. plicit 00:49, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply.
I was initially quite annoyed at seeing my page be deleted, but I have decided to properly read all the appropriate guidelines and best practice, and gave it another shot. Could you confirm whether my user page is now following all the guidelines correctly?
Thanks again,
TheKJChambers (talk) 01:38, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
@TheKJChambers: Yes, this version is perfectly acceptable. I hope your future experiences on Wikipedia are more pleasant from here on out. plicit 02:26, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

Anything Goes (podcast)

Should this move back to draft space? Trade (talk) 23:13, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

(talk page watcher)@Trade: I'm not Explicit, but I'll try to answer your question. Anything Goes (podcast) was created by a student of Wikipedia:Wiki_Ed/San_Francisco_State_University/English_216_(Fall_2023). Students participating in WP:Wiki Ed courses often mean well but just aren't experienced enough to be creating proper articles. Generally, there's one or two WikiED advisors assigned to help the students and instructors of these course, and the advisors for this course are Helaine (Wiki Ed) and Ian (Wiki Ed); so, you might want to ask them about this instead. There's also a noticeboard at WP:ENB where you can seek help. Since it's in the mainspace, it's technically there for anyone to improve, draftify or even nominate for deletion. Even though WikiEd students often mean well, many just see these things as another class assignment they need to complete; so, they just do what they think will get them a good grade and not what is necessarily best for Wikipedia. There also usually working under some kind of time constraint that often leads to them making mistakes. They should, in principle, be treated no differently from other editors, but often asking their advisors to get involved helps soften the blow. If the article's problem is just the formatting, you can clean it up if you want. If your concerns are that it doesn't meet GNG, then draftify might be warranted. In this case, I think the article is going to end up at AfD (most likely quite soon) since it's essentially unreferenced per WP:WPNOTRS and no WP:SIGCOV is cited; so, draftify would OK. I would add Template:Submit to the top of the page though and then post something on the user's talk page explaining why you draftified the article, and also let one or both of the Wiki Ed advisors know so they can help the student as well. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:45, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
@Helaine (Wiki Ed) and Ian (Wiki Ed):--Trade (talk) 00:51, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
I've draftified the article and left a message explaining why on the creator's user talk page. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:56, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
Thanks @Marchjuly & @Trade. I'll keep an eye on this, but looking at the class timeline, they're probably done editing. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:29, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
@Ian (Wiki Ed): Even though the professor for this course (Profhanley) doesn't appear to be new to Wikipedia, the comments they left at Draft talk:Anything Goes (podcast) make no mention of the lack of reliable sourcing and seem to be stating the draft was almost ready for "publishing". For sure, I think it's important for instructors to be encouraging to their students, but they should also explain the basics of GNG and RS before encouraging their students to publish. Maybe they did this and the student just acted on their own, but the lack of sourcing would've been the first thing pointed out if the student had asked about the draft at either the Help Desk or the Teahouse. From some of the more recent posts on the instructor's user talk page, they also seem to be requiring "peer reviews" of their students, but they and their students might not realize that this isn't the same as WP:PEER and think drafts are OK to publish regardless once they've been reviewed by other students in the class; it at least seems that way per "Week 11: Begin moving your work to Wikipedia" in the course's syllabus you linked to above. From "Week 15" of the same syllabus, it seems publishing in the mainspace is tied into the grading of the course, which is probably not (at least in my opinion) a really good idea. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:51, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
@Marchjuly I'll remind the instructor about the importance of references (you're right, they should have caught that).
As far as "on Wikipedia" goes, I'm pretty sure that means sandboxes (we stress to instructors that they should never grade based on what "sticks" in mainspace. It's also true that people forget or make mistakes, so I'll look back on what has happened in the past, and send the instructor a reminder if they've made that mistake before. Conation

Afternoon @Explicit: I was reviewing this article at npp and I noticed the previous version had been deleted by yourself in a prod at [1]. The prod reason menitioned " to a line of pseudoscience products, including test indices administered by Kolbe Corp". This article also mentions Kolbe, although it doesn't seem to list any pseudoscience products. Could you take a look at the old article and see if anything like this one. I'm sure the subject is notable, but unsure if the article is good. It does look good, but not sure. Thanks. scope_creepTalk 13:00, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

@Scope creep: I have made a copy of the content available here. Not sure if anything there will be of use for the current article. plicit 11:54, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
@Explicit: I read the article in pastebin. The one on here seem to be positing the same kind of idea, trying to bring an old psychological concept from the 1920's to modern era. But its not a modern era pyschological term. It seems to be somebody who has done a phd thesis on and its that idea, because the thesis exists, it must be modern era concept in pyschology, when its not. Its considered pseudoscience. So I've removed that block from the article that references Kolbe and I'll leave it there for the moment. It seems to be more a dicdef article now. Thanks for doing Explicit. That was really handy. scope_creepTalk 20:52, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Hello @Explicit, Can you undelete the page Oxometrical society since you were the admin who deleted it? Unfortunately the notice period for the suggested deletion was too short to make the necessary preventative action to avoid your swift deletion action. This page contained key historical links which are now lost due to the deletion but the page will be restarted again in order to slowly re-coalesce the information to rebuild the original one that was deleted. U5s of blank/test pages

Hello, Explicit. I noticed that you've recently deleted some blank pages (155762654, 155764166, 155764027) and others that seemed harmless (155764182, 155764175, 155764049, 155764034) as misuses of Wikipedia as a webhost. However, the userspace policy states that experimentation and trial pages is acceptable in userspace. Beyond FireflyBot leaving notices of potential G13 deletions on their talk pages (which don't imply any fault on their part), you have unfortunately not notified them either (a U5, as we both know, does imply fault on their part).

Can I ask why you have deleted them as such and ask you to consent to their restoration? Thank you, Sdrqaz (talk) 03:06, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

Appeal

Greetings,

I was advised to message you about a deletion you completed, as a first step in an appeal. Articles for deletion/Steve Shapiro (2nd nomination)

I am a music artist who had a Wikipedia entry for over 20 years. In the deletion discussion, some of the source links were not up-to-date. There was no opportunity to update sources or remove any disputed edits. No warning, just banishment. This does not seem in line with the mission of Wikipedia.

In 2008, the same article had been suggested for deletion, but this was reversed with a number of strong keeps: Articles for deletion/Steve Shapiro.

I believe the process was hasty and some important information was overlooked. For example, as an artist I was removed from this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_vibraphonists. I firmly assert just as much “notability” (or perhaps more) as any other musician who is listed here. In this case deletion was absolutely arbitrary, punitive, and seemingly without much actual knowledge of the subject. In defense, I would reference the book “Masters of the Vibes,” in which I am included, listed in the article sources.

Below, I am attaching the original article content, with TWENTY-FIVE new sources. I am appealing to you to reinstate this page, or at least bring it up for a more informed discussion. It does not improve Wikipedia to remove established artists from lists such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_vibraphonists - this is a valuable resource for those seeking information about the instrument and its players!

I have pasted the original page content below, with TWENTY FIVE new added sources.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter. Your role as a thoughtful admin is crucial to a proper and fair review process.

Steve Shapiro (born 1963) is an American music producer, session musician, and jazz vibraphonist.

He has recorded or performed with artists such as Steely Dan (Two Against Nature), Phil Collins, Whitney Houston, Ornette Coleman, Pat Martino, Regina Belle, Curtis Fuller, Jimmy Heath, They Might Be Giants, and Spyro Gyra. Captain Mohamed Nazim

Hi,

Please check this link and let me know if the references are not about the subject. This is rejected stating they dont meet GNG and also title is changed.

Draft:Mohamed Nazim

Brief On Article

In Maldives there is two famous Mohamed Nazims, and one has already having a wiki page (which I have created too), thus I put Captain on this one.

Why I have come here to you advice is that, for example this person is covered in all major media (in Maldives) and since its one of 5 state owned enterprises, he is also appointed by presdient. Also he is an elected person for the maritime association of Maldives. In short the most famous person in country on his profession, thus when Maldives State Shipping was put in place her was given the helm.

My History.

I do this because I love this. I have no problem removing my articles if they are not to the rules, but I carefully check before I start a page. Few years ago, I had one page regarding Dr. Mohamed Wisham, removed from here. Even the editor who nominated it decided to draftify it, but still removed, that was few writers with rights did not believe in local papers. I stopped my work here based on that rude behavior from some users at that time.He was an elected member of Maldives Medical Association, one of the few doctors who was the face of many local news outlets and advisor to the government.

But still people have removed it with no proper explanation, just saying I am paid to write and doesn't meet notability. If you see my history, its not that. will never be. I have made many contributions even this time, when I have free time, but rules must me rules for me and all. But These interpretations on how someone wants is wrong. That takes away the will to be part of here.

So please check on this link and guide me on where I am wrong if I am wrong, since I have a lot I want to do in sphere of Maldives to be put on Wikipedia.

Thanks. Existence Leesaaisath 16:15, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

Dear Explicit,

Would you kindly please drop the article in a sandbox so I can merge the references and any useful data to the Afghan-Pakistani fighting articles? Buckshot06 (talk) 20:50, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

@Buckshot06: Hi, two editors did not support merging the content into another article. There was a lack of consensus to carry out that action. plicit 02:41, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
I don't want to merge the text or any claim that the fighting constituted an invasion. I just want to save the references so that they can be added to the existing articles. Buckshot06 (talk) 03:02, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
@Buckshot06: If only the references will be used and no content merging will occur, then a copy of the article before its deletion should hopefully suffice. plicit 03:09, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

Adding false informations

Hi, I would like to report an issue regarding the Meryem uzerli page, as one username (Hırçın kılıç) added false informations, such as ; « former actress and model », which is not accurate as this last is still active in her Professional field. I deleted the false informations and made some modifications which are accurate. May you please block this username IP, as I’m afraid this one will keep on adding false information, despite my modifications. Thank you.

CNBC/CNN deleted articles

I see that you deleted articles about CNBC and CNN programmes at 10.17 (UK time) on the grounds that they were created by a banned/blocked user. I think these articles are worthwhile having on Wikipedia but they are probably better suited to draftspace at this time, especially the Closing Bell: Overtime article which I added to. Can I please suggest that these articles are restored, at least into draftspace should they might not pass all criteria for inclusion at this time. Rillington (talk) 16:53, 13 December 2023 (UTC)

@Rillington: Can you please specify which pages you're referring to? plicit 01:37, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
The articles I was referring to were Closing Bell: Overtime and Half Time Report from CNBC and CNN Newsnight with Abby Phillip. Rillington (talk) 11:36, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
@Rillington: So the sockmaster is Jordanene7, who is banned from Wikipedia. The enforcement of the banning policy does not allow edits from ban users, even if they appear to be made in good faith. Draft:Closing Bell and Draft:CNBC Halftime Report were both unsourced drafts (I can't find CNN Newsnight with Abby Phillip even in draftspace, so I don't know what it looked like). I'm afraid you'll have to start from scratch. plicit 09:47, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply.
Is it possible to please send me the text of the two CNBC articles or have they now been fully deleted from Wikipedia? as if you can send them to me, it will give me a basis for reinstating these back to Wikipedia. Rillington (talk) 01:36, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Draft:Greenside Primary School (Limpopo)

Hello Explicit, regarding the above mentioned page, I would like to bring to your knowledge that that article was deleted via Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Greenside Primary School (Limpopo) and I thought I can remodel it amd work on it but it was declined on AfC and I seriously cannot find any sources on the subject. Although I think it is notable and somewhat well sourced, the system says otherwise and since I'm autoreviewed, I do not wish to abuse my powers and move the article to mainspace. ihateneo is my alternative account which I used mostly when I'm in different areas, so saying "ihateneo's contributions were significant" does not really count I'm sorry. If possible, I can move it to article space where it might get AfD'd and faulter my account's PERMS. dxneo (talk) 05:18, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

@Dxneo: Hi, thanks for pointing out that ihateneo is your alternative account. I definitely did not catch that. I've gone ahead and deleted the draft as originally requested. plicit 05:21, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

Query

Hello E, there's a forthcoming studio album Tyla by Tyla which is preceded by two singles "Water" and its remix. However the artist/label released three (promo) songs which most probably sum up a 5 track EP as multiple RS and the singer's socials and interviews say it is, and the EP is to he included in the forthcoming album, so would it make sense if i created a standalone article for the EP? I don't know if I make sense but you can see Talk:Tyla (album)#EP or album? for more clarity. Your help will be highly appreciated. dxneo (talk) 12:45, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

File:Haiti national football team.png and a few other duplicate non-free files

Hi Explicit. Could you take a look at File:Haiti national football team.png? It seems to be pretty much the same file as File:Federation Haitienne de Football.png which was discussed in Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2016 February 7#File:Federation Haitienne de Football.png and removed from Haiti national football team as a result. I've gone ahead and removed this latest version from the national team article, but please re-add it if I did so too quickly. In addition, the user who uploaded this file seems to have done something similar for File:Eswatini national football team.png, which already existed as File:Eswatini Football Association.png, after the existing file was removed by JJMC89 for UUI#17 reasons. I'm sure the uploads were made in good faith, but there's no need for duplicate files like File:Belgium national football team.png and File:Belgium national football team.png to be uploaded for different non-free uses regardless of whether the the same file already exists under a different name. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:41, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

Olusola Oyebade

Hi Explicit,

Season's greetings. I was typing my comment when I realized that you closed the AfD. The subject of the article clearly passed WP:ANYBIO#1 as the winner of two BEFFTA Awards. Did you evaluate this prior to closing? Thank you. Shoerack (talk) 23:33, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

@Shoerack: Hi, those awards were included at the time the article was nominated for deletion. They were evaluated by the participants; my role is to evaluate the discussion. As the criteria itself says, "meeting one or more [of these criteria] does not guarantee that a subject should be included". Failing all else, the subject at least needs to meet WP:GNG. The discussion concluded that Olusola Oyebade was still not notable. plicit 23:44, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you, Explicit. They were evaluated by the participants; The awards were not evaluated by the participants, except this was evaluated elsewhere. I agree that your primary role is to evaluate the discussion, but this includes but not limited to evaluating sources, arguments, and claims, among others. The article creator is a brand new editor who probably isn't familiar with WP:SNG. The BEFFTA Awards are definitely a significant award, and they're a classic example of awards that confer notability per WP:ANYBIO#1. "meeting one or more [of these criteria] does not guarantee that a subject should be included". This statement means that a subject may still not be included if it's notable but violates copyrights or if it meets one or more of the WP:CSD, for example. The statement is not negating the fact that a subject only needs to meet at least one of the WP:SNG to meet our inclusion criteria. Shoerack (talk) 00:19, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
@Shoerack: ...That's a huge misrepresentation of ANYBIO. The merits of the awards were also clearly addressed in the deletion discussion. I will not be reversing my decision. plicit 14:51, 24 December 2023 (UTC)

Request intervention

For the last two years, Moglesby1999 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) has been devoted exclusively to altering Annandale High School and High school football national championships to make a claim about a high school football team's ranking in the 1970s. They have engaged in copyright violations to pursue this end (I had the blatant violation deleted on the Commons). They have persistently edit warred for years on this. It’s a single-issue account, and their response on their talk page suggests that won't change. Requesting intervention. Sorry, I selected you from the list of recently active admins, so if you don't have time, that's just fine! ~ Pbritti (talk) 01:46, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

Pbritti - all posts are accurate and simply reflect the "correct" #1 ranked team in 1978. It was Annandale of Annandale, Virginia. Having posted a published NSNS article (which listed Annandale as #1) as well as the actual rankings and now an article discussing same, I find it odd that you take such exception to these corrections. Certain individuals have tried to post, like you, rankings reflecting Houston Stratford as also ranked #1. Only Annandale was ranked #1 that year. Your assertions of "copyright" violations are laughable. There are a multitude of National Sports New Service articles published on this site by a variety of people. Please stop this ridiculous fraud by posting false information related to the 1978 rankings. If you have proof of your assertions, post it! Otherwise, stop removing accurate posts. Annandale was ranked #1 in 1978 and no other team was in high school football. How is that for single purpose.
Stop posting falsities. Annandale was number one that year. Period. Continuing to take down information that documents that is a reflection of your dishonesty as an editor and indicates some other motive aside from reflecting the truth on this site.
And your threats and "copyright" assertions are laughable given your fraudulent activity on this site. Please stop your obsession with this falsehood.
Again, Annandale was #1 in HS football in 1978. My posts / corrections simply reflect that fact (backed up by 3 other postings - and I have many more) - one of which you removed (of course I have a copy if you would like me to respost it). All of these documents support the sole #1 ranking of Annandale HS football in 1978.
Stop your fake news and stop harassing people who are genuinely interested in this site reflecting the truth on this site. Perhaps you need to devote more time to other pursuits besides from posting falsehoods in this site and harassing those that post truthful information.
Quite obviously, I will be submitting complaints about your conduct here and continued harassment. I will also share this information with other editors so that they may complain about your conduct as well. You are in breach of the sites editors' agreement.
Stop posting false information and deleting correct information on this topic.
Moglesby1999 (talk) 03:57, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
@Pbritti: Is the issue solely the problematic files or do you dispute the claim of the team's 1978 ranking as well? If it's the former, then you could have simply let them know that uploading copyrighted text from newspapers constitutes a copyright violation. While preferable, references do not have to be accessible online. Moglesby1999, you can cite newspapers using {{cite news}} and filling out as many parameters as possible. If there is disagreement about the content, the first step should be to attempt to resolve the issue on the article's talk page instead of simply reverting one another. plicit 06:27, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
No, the issue is long-term disruption through edit-warring, POV-pushing, and copyright violations. Since April 2021, M1999 has reinserted/deleted the same content on High school football national championships many times (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 LOGOUT, 9, LOGOUT again). Some of these involved the removal of references that contradict M1999. This campaign has also seen all-caps diatribes and the uploading of copyright violations (with the apparent intent to respost it). I don't know who was national champion in 1978 and I could not care less who it was, but this is an obvious case of prolonged NOTHERE/CIR behavior. ~ Pbritti (talk) 06:55, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
Looks like I missed one of the copyright violations. ~ Pbritti (talk) 07:10, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
For what it matters, I spent a bit of time actually looking all this up. Moglesby1999 is correct that Annandale was the only 1978 champion, with a single blog upload of historic rankings appearing to be responsible for claims that the 1978 number 1 ranking was a tie. This, however, was never a content dispute—this is a problem editor with several copyright violations who has now cast some serious aspersions of sockpuppetry towards me on their talk page. I'll let you decide what to do. ~ Pbritti (talk) 23:05, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
This seems like a solid threat to perpetrate vandalism (besides the name-calling). I would appreciate page protection on Annandale High School and High school football national championships. ~ Pbritti (talk) 20:33, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
@Pbritti: I have blocked the account, but will hold off on semi-protecting the pages until disruption occurs. This was an easy issue to resolve and I tried my best to de-escalate the situation, but there was no helping this user. plicit 23:25, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
A bummer, to be sure. I appreciate your deescalation effort and also appreciate your willingness to react promptly. Happy holidays, ~ Pbritti (talk) 23:32, 24 December 2023 (UTC)

Image deletion: Shadowmage infiltrator

I can't see deleted revisions, but I see you deleted File:Shadowmage infiltrator.jpg. I received a talk page notice 2 months ago about the fair use claim being invalidly shaped or something, but I'm pretty sure I fixed the alleged problem (Which was a nothingburger of a problem). I didn't remove the "for deletion" tag because my understanding is that I wasn't allowed to do that, but I presumed whoever looked at the deletion tag would see the problem was resolved and not delete it. If there was some further discussion after I adjusted the fair use claim that contested it, I was not pinged about it. Can you re-examine the history of this file? Was your deletion in error from not realizing the problem had been fixed, or did you disagree with my updated fair use claim? Regardless, I'd have appreciated the ping, even if you thought the deletion was correct - as there was no immediate edit on the page and the image just redlink'd, there was no further notification I got until I noticed now.

cc @Pppery:, who originally contested the fair use rationale. SnowFire (talk) 18:15, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

@SnowFire: This file was tagged for deletion for not satisfying WP:NFCC#8, the contextual significant criterion. As WP:NFC#CS explains, a non-free infobox image is generally allowed for identification of the article's subject. Additional non-free media files must adhere to one of the two points listed there. At the time of its deletion, File:Shadowmage infiltrator.jpg was not discussion in the article text and its caption did not critically discuss the image itself. plicit 02:07, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
Yes, I'm familiar with NFCC. The Magic: The Gathering article currently features zero example cards, though (I'd have preferred a card front in the infobox, but apparently there was some standard of using the card back instead in the infobox? At least in 2008 or so, lol.) when it used to have 2-3. And there is discussion of the image? It was the whole "reward for winning a special tournament" and that it used a real person's likeness. To be clear, I'm not wedded to any one particular card, but having zero cards is silly, and the presence of some sample cards would absolutely "significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding." I picked a sample card with at least some discussion. Anyway, there's quite a lot of sourced coverage of MTG art (e.g. [5]), just deep-diving any one particular card would dilute the focus in an overview topic.
(Side note: This doesn't technically matter, I'm not basing my argument on it, but to mention it anyway... this is explicitly one of those cases where the copyright holder would explicitly want us to use their artwork, since it's basically free advertising for them. And this isn't hypothetical fanboy excuse-making, I actually corresponded with Wizards of the Coast over email originally. Yes, I know, there are other considerations that stop this, and please don't assume this is my argument, but... just a side issue that makes this a tad silly since the "respect for commercial opportunities" criteria is met in spades here, at least.)
Anyway, I stand by what I said before on the procedural count: Even if you don't buy the above argument and still think the deletion is justified, I'd have appreciated a ping regardless when you saw someone had at least attempted to address the issue (and/or just turned it into a full FFD, seeing the disagreement). I had no idea further action was required because the tag was presented as a "fix the rationale" issue, which I did. As a result, there was an ugly empty image in the article for awhile - even if the deletion is ultimately endorsed, the image remnant could have been removed quicker.
Are you willing to undo the deletion, or should I file a FFD? SnowFire (talk) 03:34, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
@SnowFire: I have no issue restoring the file and having it listed at FFD for the community's input. I'll be undeleting the file shortly. plicit 03:41, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks. I've placed the image back in the article (with an additional reference to its notability). @Pppery: Happy to chat about alternative options, or to go to FFD if you still disagree. SnowFire (talk) 21:54, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
I'm not exactly convinced, but don't care enough to take it to Ffd, so will just let it be. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:14, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

Request for Feedback on Revised Article Submission

Dear @Explicit,

I trust this message finds you well. I am writing to seek your guidance and feedback regarding my recent submission, the Sandbox article, which was regrettably rejected due to concerns related to promotion and lack of clarity.

In response to your valuable feedback, I am in the process of re-creating the article. I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a moment to review the revised version and provide insight into whether the modifications made align with the criteria for acceptance or if further adjustments are necessary.

Your expertise and feedback are highly valued, and I believe your guidance will contribute significantly to enhancing the quality and relevance of the article. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

Tashkent metro (Qipchoq station)

Hi! About this edit.

At august 2023, Tashkent metro stations given new names[1], and I move articles from old temporary names (Bekats) to the new ones. And for some reason there is a redirect from Qipchoq (Tashkent Metro) to 5-Bekat, but Qipchoq temporary name was 12-Bekat not 5-Bekat. 5-Bekat was temp name for another station (Chinor station). So 5-Bekat redirects to Cinor station (this redirect is ok), but redirect from Qipchoq station to 5-Bekat is incorrect. Can you please delete redirect from Qipchoq (Tashkent Metro) to 5-Bekat and then create redirect from 14-Bekat to Qipchoq article, or delete Qipchoq article (empty article)? Request for Deletion Rationale and Request for Restoration into Draftspace

Hi, (@Explicit). First of all, Happy New Year to you!

I am writing this “talk thread” to you concerning the recent deletion decision on these articles. I had been participating in the deletion discussion until I went traveling over the New Year’s to meet family and friends. When I got back and reviewed the discussion, it was decided that the articles were to be deleted unilaterally. However, I am unsure as to what your exact rationale behind the unilateral deletion was. I ask this because given that some of them (the lists of MIT and Berkeley) had improved on its sources during the discussion process to the point that they were more or less on the same terms as Stanford’s list (in fact, some of the authors of the books and journals are identical for these sources on the Stanford and the others’ lists), the MIT and Berkeley lists have also been unilaterally deleted while Stanford’s list has not been given the same treatment.

If you read the discussion threads, I am not sure if there was a clear reason to unilaterally delete all the lists and exclusively leave out Stanford's. Is this because Stanford’s list has not been nominated in the said deletion discussion along with the rest, or, because the above-mentioned improved lists did not match up to the sources of the Stanford list? If the lists were deleted because the sources did not match up to the Stanford list, then would it be possible for you to restore them into draftspace so that I can try and update/improve the sources to the said standard and submit it for review?

Let me know what you think and thanks so much in advance! Adarwinismshellfire (talk) 07:53, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi, any feedback (at your convenience) would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Adarwinismshellfire (talk) 10:58, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

Accidental sandbox page deletion

Hey there! Sorry to disturb you.

I saw that you deleted my user sandbox page a little while ago.

However, I did not mean to make a request to delete it. This was done in error—I was merely playing around with the template, and had no intention of requesting that my sandbox page be deleted.

Would it still be possible to restore it, especially with the edit history intact? I had a number of very substantial projects that I was using that page to work on. Unfortunately, I had taken most of them off the page before today, but I was still intending to go back in its archives and retrieve the content.

I would really appreciate if you could bring this page (User:A_Red_Cherry/sandbox) back, with its editing history intact.

Thank you very much, and once again, my apologies for any inconvenience I may have caused as a result!

A Red Cherry (talk) 00:43, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Thank you so much!!! Much appreciated :) A Red Cherry (talk) 00:56, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
I have made thousands of edits to the sandbox on my user space (the same one as mentioned in my comment above) that appear to have been either cleared or hidden at some point.
As you can probably see, I do not seem to be able to access any archived revision history for this page from prior to 2 January anymore. Of course, I was prolific in updating it prior to that time, just as I have been over the past few days.
Could I kindly inquire as to why so many of these past edits seem to have been made private and invisible to myself? It would really mean a lot to me if you (or anyone else) are able to restore my access to these historical archives, as I do have loads of content still stashed in these past revisions to my sandbox page that I have bookmarked for possible future use or reference.
As I glancingly alluded to when I messaged you a few days ago, I have worked on drafts for numerous projects of substantial size using this sandbox page in the past. However, they are no longer available in the current edition of the page anymore, and many of them are buried deep within the archives. As a result, I would need to go deep into the page's history (before last week) in order to retrieve the most recent copies of those pages or templates that I have previously worked on. I plan to do this either on an ongoing basis, or sometime in the near future, at least when it comes to some of them.
Unfortunately, this is no longer possible due to the apparently lost history of many of my past revisions to the page. Thus, would it be possible for you to find those previous versions of the page at all? I would ideally prefer for them to be made publicly available as part of its revision history once more, so that I can freely access them at any point in time once again.
By the way, my apologies if this is the wrong place to be posing this question. Please let me know and feel free to direct me to a better option, if one exists.
Thank you very much in advance for any assistance or guidance you might be able to provide for my situation. Best regards!

You deleted this page in December 2023 based on G5. Are you able to review the deleted version and let me know if it is comparable to the one just created? CNMall41 (talk) 06:15, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

Actually, disregard. I see an SPI was already filed and the versions are not the same. I'll need to dive down the rabbit hole for this one. --CNMall41 (talk) 06:25, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

Need you help with an article.

Hi,

I have been working on putting articles from Maldives and recently few on Belarus. I have come across that many renown people are covered in local languages and often editors aren't aware to search for local language coverage, specially in dhivehi or russian.

Please have a look on this article and assist please. I need your guidance since I have worked and selected to write after research based on guidelines of wiki, and certain interpretations at times are really not making sense by some of our respected colleagues.

Mariya Rusalenko

Thanks Explicit

Jasim Khelaif

Hey, is it possible to draftify Jasim Khelaif, which I believe was deleted by you? He is playing in a major tournament right now, and I think there's enough references to make a page that satisfies GNG. Let me know. Cheers!--Ortizesp (talk) 00:29, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

File:Portrait of Joseph Lister by Harry Herman Salomon.jpg

Hi @Explicit: How goes it? You checked and removed the db-file csd delete tag. Its absolutely on Wikipedia. I wouldn't've put the tag, if it wasn't there. I discovered it just after I uploaded that image. Here it is here: [6]. Hope that helps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scope creep (talkcontribs) 13:52, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

@Scope creep: Hi, thanks for the link. Without specifying the file name, {{db-f8}} linked to c:File:Portrait of Joseph Lister by Harry Herman Salomon.jpg, which does not exist, hence my removal of the tag. plicit 14:00, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

Doctor Who image you deleted

I notice you deleted several Doctor Who images I had tagged with di-disputed non-free use rationale. The files you deleted are:

  • File:DoctorWhoTheEndoftheWorldthumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoTheDoctorDancesthumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoTheChristmasInvasion.png
  • File:DoctorWhoWorldWarThreethumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoToothandClawthumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoThePartingoftheWaysthumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoTheEmptyChildthumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoSchoolReunionthumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoNewEarththumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoRosethumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoFather'sDaythumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoBadWolfthumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoDalekthumb.png
  • File:DoctorWhoAliensofLondonthumb.png

While I tagged them on the grounds of NFCC#8, I did so in the understanding they wouldn't be deleted for 7 days, as stated in the tag. However you deleted them less than a hour after I placed the tag, giving no chance for any discussion on the future of the images or for anyone to disagree with me. So I would like to ask why the files were deleted prematurely. --TedEdwards 00:27, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

@TedEdwards: Apologies, I got tripped up over the dates. I was dealing with the expired categories dated January 14 and saw that Liz had disruptively deleted Category:Disputed non-free Wikipedia files as of 21 January 2024 despite there being an hour still left for the possibility of it getting populated. Half an hour later, you tagged the images, which turn it into a populated red-linked category. Seeing this, I restored it and somehow managed to mix the dates up and I thought I was dealing with a category dated January 14. I have restored everything now. plicit 01:06, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
Ah no worries. Thanks for letting me know. --TedEdwards 02:24, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

Need clarification on deletion of ILDFA page.

Hello!

Trying to understand why the page for "ILDFA" or "Ignitable Liquid Drainage Floor Assembly" was deleted by you @11:53, 14 December 2023?

It was one of my first pages and I am trying to understand what I did wrong? The info is not proprietary nor is it factually incorrect. If it was for a formatting issue, happy to fix as this is one of my first attempts at a full wikipedia page. Thank you!!

JGAthon JGAthon (talk) 21:56, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

@JGAthon: Hi, ILDFA was not a page created by you, but you did make some minor edits to the page. It was created by Rochmarcin, a sockpuppet of the blocked user Anne Barrington. In accordance with the speedy deletion criterion concerning pages created by banned or blocked users, I deleted the article as an enforcement of the aforementioned user's block. plicit 00:50, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for the response as I know you are busy! Makes sense. Can redo the ILDFA page and upload my original content replacing Anne/Rochmarcin/sockpuppet's work?
Trying to ensure it doesn't get deleted.
Thank you. JGAthon (talk) 18:06, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
@JGAthon: Yes, feel free to recreate the page from scratch. G5 only applies to the sockpuppet's creations and has no bearing on that of others. plicit 02:35, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

Need clarification on deletion of Bandra Terminus–Barmer Humsafar Express and Barmer–Bandra Terminus Humsafar Express page

Thank you for fixing my stub category

I was wondering why all the stubs were going to an unsaved page, while the page I set up and saved was still empty. I think I triple- and quadruple-checked everything EXCEPT the actual problem--how I mis-titled the Category page. Thanks! Uporządnicki (talk) 14:12, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello! You deleted File:Bulgarian Football Union logo.svg since the union had an anniversary logo last year to celebrate 100 year anniversary. Now however, they've gone back to the old logo, so it should be used in the article. Can you undelete it? Jonteemil (talk) 00:29, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
