Request reason:
I am just trying to give articles a good history and everybody attacks me and it really just ticks me off. Do I write it in my own words? You never told me how I should update the history. This block is quite unfair. Wikipedia is my life and you guys trying to take it away breaks my heart. And IM NOT AUTOBLOCKED!
Decline reason:
In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. To allow the reviewing administrator to assess your understanding, please respond to the following questions in your next unblock appeal, explaining in your own words:
- What is copyright?
- How is Wikipedia licenced?
- Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
- Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
- How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?
Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 10:49, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
You have received 1 2 3 4 5 6 warnings for copyright violations, with the sixth one being labeled a final warning. The above section regarding this edit to Big 5 Sporting Goods, where you added four paragraphs copied from https://www.big5sportinggoods.com/store/company/History, shows to me that you still do not have adequate understanding of copyright. Because of this, I am blocking you- I have no personal issue with you, it's just that my duty as an admin is to protect the encyclopedia from harmful edits. Yes, you need to write all content in your own words- you cannot copy from other websites, and if you copy between Wikipedia pages, you must make of note of it in the edit summary. If you want to be unblocked, you must commit to not copying from sources and commit to attributing when copying content between articles. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 04:22, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. rsjaffe 🗩 🖉 04:35, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Fryboy Editor I promise I won't copyright anymore but how can I commit to attribute when I'm blocked? If you want you can unblock me right now and I'll just stick to updated or fixing infoboxes if that makes you happy.
I promise I won't copyright anymore
... You'll have to be more specific in how you understand what you did is wrong and what you will differently going forward. When it comes to attributing content from another wikipedia article, add a note that reads like copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
in the edit summary when copying something over. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 05:03, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Fryboy Editor I know what I did is wrong, and I won't do that anymore. I just like to edit/upgrade infoboxes. I won't copy stuff without a valid reason. I won't violate copyright anymore.
For reference:
- You can almost never copy from anywhere online. This also applies to very slightly rewording what a source says (see the close paraphrasing guideline). This also applies to images. However, you must source your information using a citation (see referencing for beginners for help on that front).
- The one main exception to this is copying from other Wikipedia articles, where you must attribute which article you copied the text from, usually in the edit summary or on the talk page using the {{Copied}} template.
By saying you will not violate copyrights, this is what you are agreeing to follow; this is what all Wikipedia editors must follow. If you need any help, you can send me a message on my talk page. Sorry if this comes across harshly – it's somewhat meant to, but I also do want to help you as much as I can. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 06:23, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Fryboy Editor Yes, I agree I will follow all of the rules. I just want to be unblocked. Is that too much too ask? I feel like I've stated my reasoning. I'll just stick to editing infoboxes.
- I would like to see you unblocked, I really would. But I'm still not sure if you know what you did wrong. It sounds like you're saying something to get out of this situation that you're still not sure you got into, if that makes sense. You'll need to be clearer about what you did wrong. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 06:59, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Fryboy Editor I know what I did was wrong, and I know not to ever violate copyright and copy text without explaining why.
Fryboy Editor Fine. If you won't unblock me than I quit. Screw you all. I hate my life.
Dollarseven Why am I blocked!? This is another new account entirely? — Preceding undated comment added 15:46, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Sorry, I fell asleep. Your unblock request got declined in the meantime; but this might be helpful, since you now have a specific series of questions that you can answer in a new unblock request. Answering them successfully will help get you unblocked. However, creating a new account in a possible attempt to get around your block, as you appear to have done with Dollarseven above, will make appealing your block much, much harder. I recommend you stop using that account immediately, as it is obviously you and is just hurting your chances as getting unblocked. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 15:58, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

Sockpuppet investigation
editAn editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Fryboy Editor, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
Your issues with copyright
editThe basic idea of copyright is that you cannot completely copy a source in whole or in part. Wikipedia is licensed under Creative Commons licensing, which means anyone can use it, but that doesn't apply to most sources. In order to avoid running into copyright trouble (or worse - getting the wikimedia foundation into such trouble), you should take the basic idea and put it in your own words. Switch up the order substantially if needed and use synonyms to get the point across. There are also online tools you can use if you're unsure how to fix a copyrighted issue. Just paste the copyrighted material into the input box, and fix any grammar issues with the result.
Hopefully this helps you with the copyright disputes you keep running into. Have a nice day. ☢️Plutonical☢️ᶜᵒᵐᵐᵘⁿᶦᶜᵃᵗᶦᵒⁿˢ 14:27, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- I recommend against the use of any (semi-)automated tools to paraphrase copyright content. They aren't very good at it and will typically only superficially modify the source material, resulting in excessive close paraphrasing which is still unacceptable. DanCherek (talk) 16:40, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- Strongly agree with @DanCherek. To learn how to rewrite content from a source to avoid copyright issues, WP:FIXCLOSEPARA has a nice concise set of guidelines.
- In your next request to lift the block, remember to answer the questions @Yamla posed:
- What is copyright?
- How is Wikipedia licenced?
- Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
- Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
- How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?
- rsjaffe 🗩 🖉 18:19, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- Well, there you have it! A good set of guidelines to fix copyright. Also, thanks for the tip on semi-automated tools, I had no idea. ☢️Plutonical☢️ᶜᵒᵐᵐᵘⁿᶦᶜᵃᵗᶦᵒⁿˢ 14:35, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:CEC Entertainment Inc logo.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:CEC Entertainment Inc logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:28, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

Blocked for sockpuppetry
edit{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
. Girth Summit (blether) 18:03, 9 February 2022 (UTC)- You were advised above by the administrator who partially blocked your that you should not create a new account to evade your block. You disregarded that advice, so I have blocked the sock account, and this one, indefinitely. This does not necessarily mean permanently - you are still able to request an unblock, but you will need to make it very clear that you understand the requirements of our copyright policy, and you will need to undertake not to create any new accounts.
- Please take this advice on board: if you create another account, and that account is detected by a checkuser, you will most likely be banned from editing here per WP:3X. That is a much more difficult thing to get lifted than an indefinite block. Girth Summit (blether) 18:11, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- I will second this. You seem like an editor who can be quite productive, but you really need to take some time off right now. Once you digest the copyright policy and the sockpuppetry policy, you could appeal your block, but I'd suggest you wait until you reach 6 months after this block, when you can take standard offer, as long as you don't sock again. I'm really trying to help you out here, but at this point I can't really do much more. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 21:01, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- Well, I warned you what would happen. You are hereby banned by the community from editing here, per WP:3X. The WP:SO still applies; I'd advise you lay off socking for six months, and request an unblock at the end of that time if you want to edit here again. Speedy deletion nomination of Rocket (Lagoon)
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Rocket (Lagoon) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/news/archives/1999/stories/050599_02.shtml. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hitchcock's Markets moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Hitchcock's Markets, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. The file File:Cub logo.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unused. Superseded by File:Cub Foods.png.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 14:26, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
