Howdy. Welcome to Wikipedia. Edit Boldly. (p.s.: someday you might want to check WikiTravel:Canberra for accuracy). -- DavidCary 20:54, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Cheers, David. I have already read the newcomer's page, by the way. About the Canberra editing mistake, I realised I'd mucked up pretty soon after they changed my edit back, so I apologise for that, but thanks anyway. See ya round. --huwr 11:32, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)
OK, I like that RAID edit - I wasn't sure how to put it exactly, and that works for me. A1 A2 didn't, but A1 A1 looks good. --Sfoskett 11:21, 30 Jul 2004 (UTC)
As a major contributor to the Ambrosia Software page, you may want to vote on a misguided effort to vote to delete the Andrew Welch entry as "vanity" and claims that only Maelstrom is known and even that's insignificant, etc. etc. DreamGuy 17:39, Jan 7, 2005 (UTC)
The reason I changed the link to read X Windows was for disambiguation for users that are only familiar with X.Org since it doesn't specifically mention anything about X11; but now thinking about what you said about X windows being similar to Microsoft Windows and reading your reference, that totally makes sense to me. Thanks for correcting it and clearing that up. -- Striker 04:50, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)
User Friendly
editThank you for taking an interest in this entry.
I have reverted your edit to the previous version. I feel that the contents is clearer in the manual form, and like the fact we can link directly to each regular character. I accept that more changes are necessary, and some of the changes you made (particuarly the changes in relation to menu levels) may be reincorporated.
I trust we can amicably resolve any issues which may arise. Epideme 23:47, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Hi Huwr, you put a delete tag on this image, but its currently used on House Anaticula. The image won't be deleted while in used. Once the image is an orphan (not used anywhere) then your request (as the uploader) can be completed.
Also, make sure you list on Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion after adding a delete tag to an image, or it might not get taken care of. --Duk 03:53, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)

G'day Huwr
editBlog
editG'day Huwr,
I havn't used Wikipedia much, but it is certainly cool. You could be on the other side of the world, but your not:
It's a small world after all It's a small world after all It's a small world after all It's a small, small world
There is just one moon - And one golden sun And a smile means - Friendship to every one Though the mountains divide - And the oceans are wide It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all It's a small world after all It's a small world after all It's a small, small world
Oh and P.s. sorry for screwing around with your page, I should have read the instrutions at the top. So what can this Wikipedia thing do anyway?

iMac article
editHi there, nice to have that pic at the top of the article now. I'd like to put this up for featured-article status in the next month or two. Are you able to help? Tony 08:34, 3 October 2005 (UTC)
- I didn't move any pictures, but I did reorder some text and remove some text. I would like to see the article gain feature-article status. What do I do to help? --huwr 08:47, 3 October 2005 (UTC)
I guess I'm a vandal now!
editWow! Thanks for correcting that!
I see what happened now, I normally look all the diffs by anon users for pages on my watch list when I am logged in. In this case, the anon user was being nice and reverting some old vandalism (how often does that happen!). I just looked the diff, and saw vandalism, and reverted change without paying enough attention to the side of the page the diff was on.
Ooops, I feel dumb. Thanks again for catching it. - Trysha (talk) 05:51, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
Canberra School Articles
editHi, please do not revert redirects from school names to suburb articles. See discussion at Talk:List of schools in the Australian Capital Territory for reasoning. Most schools are not going to be notable enough to deserve their own article and therefore any information about them can be included under the relavent suburb article. --Martyman-(talk) 07:39, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
Mynas are well known as the most competent of all speaking birds (and it wasn't my edit) - it's like saying you need a source for parrots are colourful - I've reverted. jimfbleak 07:00, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
Hey, I've added some stuff to Waterfall model to try and explain the reasoning behind the model, what it actually is and to clarify its faults for those who haven't heard this stuff before. Can you please review my changes? I'd really appreciate it, thanks.
Nice to see a fellow (future) ANU student too.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Am spotlight.png)
editThanks for uploading Image:Am spotlight.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:21, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Image source problem with Image:Ambrosia logo.gif
editThis is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Ambrosia logo.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:52, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ambrosia logo.gif)
editThanks for uploading Image:Ambrosia logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Battle2.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Battle2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:38, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. -FASTILY (TALK) 18:26, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
editHello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:53, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
You're invited to the Canberra WikiMeetup on 20 November 2011
editHi! We're having a Canberra Wikimeetup on 20 November 2011 at Siren Bar in Gunghalin from 2pm to 4pm. It's most just a chance to chat with other local Wikipedians, get a chance to go a different sort of bar (which is reasonably kid friendly, serves real food, and has non-alcholic options), and, if you're interested, learning more about what Wikimedia Australia and local GLAM projects are happening. We'd love to see you and any Wikipedia/Wikimedia/wiki loving friends you have there. --LauraHale (talk) 07:11, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File:AdaRowlands.jpg needs authorship information
editThe media file you uploaded as File:AdaRowlands.jpg appears to be missing information as to one (or more) of the following :
- The author or creators of the work, (including information as to the author's lifespan).
- Where and how this particular version was obtained.
- When the work was created,
If you did provide such information, it is currently confusing for others trying to make use of the image.
It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.
Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).
- If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:
{{subst:usernameexpand|Huwr}}
will produce an appropriate expansion,
or use the {{own}} template.
Please also add authorship and sourcing to other files you created or uplopaded. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
