Welcome new user
Hello, User:Illia Connell , I see you've opened an account and begun to make edits to the encyclopaedia. You are most welcome and thank you for the constructive edits you have made. I'm Lumos3, one of the numerous editors here. I voluntarily work as a welcomer to newcomers. I'm posting below a standard welcome box with lots of useful links. I hope you get pleasure from editing and making Wikipedia an even better resource for the community.
Wikipedia encourages new members to jump in and make corrections and contributions to articles. I myself found the Be bold guideline particularly encouraging when I was getting started. I also found the Wikipedia:Cheatsheet a useful quick reference for editing text.

Speedy deletion declined: Borgen Project
Hello Illia Connell. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Borgen Project, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: it's nearly six years since the last AfD and, compared to the version deleted then, this has some independent refs. Relist at AfD if you like. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 15:12, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

DYK for Trogloraptor
On 3 September 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Trogloraptor, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the recently discovered Trogloraptor of Oregon gave its name to an ancient family of cave-dwelling spiders with hook-like feet (pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Trogloraptor. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Rajshekhar Rajaharia
I've reverted your CSD at Rajshekhar Rajaharia and reinstated the PROD. You have no idea what the previously deleted version of that article looked like and therefore you cannot use the rationale that it replicates the content deleted by a prior discussion at WP:AFD. That discussion, by the way, was well over 12 months ago and I note that you were not a registered user then. Of course, you may just have a phenomenal memory and had been contributing as an IP last year, but it seems an unlikely combination. - Sitush (talk) 02:48, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Incorrect CSD tagging's
Hello IIIia Connell. I would request you to please check the new articles first and then tag them with the appropriate CSD tag. The articles which you tagged with CSD G2 as a "test page" which are Barbara Crane, Block dude and Graeme tallantire were all wrong and had to be re-tagged with correct CSD tags. As incorrect reasoning can confuse the article creator and they won't know the actual reason why their article was deleted that's why one should always make sure to tag a new article which meets the speedy deletion criteria with the appropriate CSD tag. PNAS
I'm curious about this edit. I've never seen that journal cited with those words spelled out in full except by JSTOR. Usually it is either PNAS, as displayed on the cover, or Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. The article at Wikipedia:Article Incubator/Chris Schoeneman was marked as failing inclusion criteria with this diff, [1]. - WP:STALEDRAFT is applicable to user space, and while related, incubator articles are in Wikipedia space and a community process is involved. The decision to take 58 pages to MfD was done in the context of previously taking ten pages at a time to MfD, and a new community discussion at WT:Incubator about how to manage the set of articles in the incubator. When I asked you about why the pace changed from ten at a time to 58 at a time while new discussion was ongoing, the answer did not explain the change. The actual guideline at WP:Subpages states, "* Using subpages for permanent content that is meant to be part of the encyclopedia." Please agree to withdraw your 58 nominations. Thank you, Unscintillating (talk) 03:44, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Stale drafts at MfD
Hi Illia. I'd like to close out some of the stale drafts you brought up at MfD. Since you've advanced a legitimate reason for deletion, I do think it's proper for those without any sort of objections to be deleted. However, some of these drafts have received work since their MfD nominations. Perhaps the nomination sparked someone into action. If your only objection to those pages was their lack of activity, perhaps a procedural close would be appropriate. I could do that, or I could just note the new activity on the individual discussions. Which would you prefer? --BDD (talk) 17:35, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
- I set up a plan to work on each of the 58 articles at a rate of one per day, and at the end of May asked Illia to withdraw the nominations, but received no response, [2], [3]. Unscintillating (talk) 03:42, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- Well, just let me know if you'd like any WP:REFUNDs. --BDD (talk) 04:03, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- I find your response to be a non-sequitor. Your deletion rationale applies to MfDs "without any sort of objections to be deleted". I have shown that this is not the case, so this should either stop the deletions or necessitate a revised rationale.
- Well, just let me know if you'd like any WP:REFUNDs. --BDD (talk) 04:03, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- Your logic further states that drafts that have received work since the MfD nominations are a reason for a procedural close. In one sense, all of these drafts have received work.
- In a second sense, these articles did not receive more work because Illia disappeared from Wikipedia, without agreeing (or disagreeing) to withdraw the nominations.
- The greenhouse design provides an orderly process for reviewing incubated articles, with a trip to MfD as the dated default. Non-random sampling of four articles from the 58 found that 3 of the 4 MfD nominations were unneeded.
- Now that the community has had a chance to weigh in, we know that the community does not want to comment on mass MfD nominations coming from the incubator.
- On 14 May 2013, Illia stated, "I have been sending batches of ten articles in the incubator to WP:MFD." Note that this followed a post that I made there on 13 May, so I had reason to believe that the rate of ten at a time would continue during the discussions. To repeat what I posted here on 31 May 2013,

- Regarding your opinion, "[the MfD nominations have] advanced a legitimate reason for deletion", can you cite any guideline for this, or are you using WP:IAR? Unscintillating (talk) 13:56, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I don't believe I've deleted any of these articles that you've worked on. If I did—and it was not a case of assessing consensus among editors—it was in error, and I'll restore those pages. You may be unhappy that more incubator pages are being taken to MfD, but you can't expect a closing administrator to seek out your stated objections. This doesn't seem like something I should need to say, but if you object to the deletion of a page which is the subject of an XfD, say so there. But when an MfD has been listed for almost three weeks without any discussion, a soft delete is a plenty appropriate process.
- I repeat my willingness to restore any of these pages you want to work on. If that's your concern, I can address it. If your concern is with the procedure, I don't think this is a fruitful way to solve the issue. I can't see where Illia has done anything wrong. The discussion at the Incubator's talk page was a notification of his or her action. It wasn't like an RfC that Illia short-circuited in listing this batch.
- tldr: If you don't want a page at MfD deleted, say so there. If you want a deleted page restored, let me know. --BDD (talk) 19:32, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
- The work that I offered to do was to prepare the articles with the potential of avoiding MfD. The community was forced to consider the articles without any such preparation, and now an admin must close the discussions. The result of the discussions is that the community doesn't want to participate in this set of deletion discussions. Weeks of silence is not a rising clamor for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity
Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
