Question from OWMatPaget (22:55, 15 August 2024)

edit

Hey Isochrone! Nice to e-meet you. :)

I am updating the Starship Troopers: Extermination page with the game's updated art, but it was rejected shortly after I uploaded the art. How do I do this without getting rejected? --OWMatPaget (talk) 22:55, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @OWMatPaget and welcome to Wikipedia :) You have unintentionally stumbled on one of the most complicated parts of contributing: copyright.
In almost all cases, we require images to allow commercial use, even with modification, to anyone (though usually with attribution). In very limited cases, like this, we waive the rules for non-free files.
As uploading these is very complex, I am happy to do so for you. You can link it here. In the future, you can also request on the files for upload page that this is done for you.
If you want to learn how to do this for yourself, I am happy to teach you. – Isochrone (talk) 09:03, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey Isochrone! All good. I appreciate the help. The image I want to add to Wikipedia is the same one added to IMDB.

Please let me know if there's anything else you may need. :) OWMatPaget (talk) 22:18, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey Isochrone! I was wondering if you'd be able to change the image on the Starship Troopers: Extermination page to the one included in this link:

@OWMatPaget   Done You could also just overwrite the file at the bottom of the file page ("Upload a new version of this file") in the future, if it already exists. – Isochrone (talk) 07:45, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

It’s okay to delete the Template:User Minor template

I don’t feel comfortable having this up on Wikipedia, so the article can be deleted. If it gets my account into trouble, I hope not. I wish to keep adding to Wikipedia daily. Bennett1203 (talk) 23:17, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Bennett1203, you're in no way in trouble :) You had no malicious intent so it's fine. – Isochrone (talk) 08:21, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from Ahmed The Arabic (04:15, 12 September 2024)

edit

Hello sir/madame, what is your advice on editing Wikipedia pages? I have seen people who have edited 3 million pages for examples, what is the best method in order to edit accurately? Of course if you are not sure you’d just leave it there just to not spread misinformation. I am kind of new so I will ask questions for a while until I get the hang of it.

Thank you !

- Ahmed The Arabic --Ahmed The Arabic (talk) 04:15, 12 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Ahmed The Arabic and welcome to Wikipedia. I would highly recommend reading the introduction, which gives you a good overview of the basics of editing. The main points are that any edits should be neutrally worded and have reliable sources: the five pillars provides a summary of our basic principles.
If you have any questions, you can also ask me for help. It is natural that you might mistakes when editing. Be bold and, if you are reverted for an error, learn and understand for next time. – Isochrone (talk) 16:59, 12 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey Isochrone,

I just made my page but do not know how long until it will be published or if it even published to appear as I’ve been told most pages publish immediately unless there is a reason why it wouldn’t. Could you help me make my page live? --Inawnuhmuhss (talk) 03:41, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
