Atlètic Terrassa HC moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Atlètic Terrassa HC, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. The only source in this article appears to be a blog, which is not a reliable source. —AE (talkcontributions) 12:51, 8 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hockey

edit

Great job on updating the articles. Two things, 1) there is no need for a simple "Team" in the infobox on winning medals when we can't link to a specific tournament (Only olympics, PanAm, Commonwealth...) 2) when there is only one template we don't need to "hide" it under "Titles" or whatever. Flag of location

edit

Please be aware that flag is not use for any part of the location, these including in table or infobox, as i'm already insist to you recently. Please read carefully how the flag should be apply via MOS:Flag. --Aleenf1 14:35, 2 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Aleenf1: I know but on all the Olympic event pages for 2020 it is like this and User:Sportsfan_1234 changed all those tables to the flag variant on the 2020 summer Olympics. Justwagen (talk) 19:45, 2 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Aleenf1, you are interpreting the MOS:FLAG wrong. " Examples of acceptable exceptions include infobox templates for military conflicts and infoboxes including international competitions, such as FIFA World Cup or the Olympic Games" is clearly listed on the page linked above. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 18:55, 2 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Sportsfan 1234: @Justwagen:, sorry i don't get you are right, "Flag icons may be relevant in some subject areas, where the subject actually represents that country or nationality – such as military units or national sports teams. In lists or tables, flag icons may be relevant when such representation of different subjects is pertinent to the purpose of the list or table itself.
Words as the primary means of communication should be given greater precedence over flags, and flags should not change the expected style or layout of infoboxes or lists to the detriment of words."
Is the location of qualifying tournament is a primary subject to that tournament? And how the importance and representative meaning of putting the flag there? Is it just for decorative purpose? If so clear that infobox wouldn't allow to use it, think about the usage in the table, is just relevant, no exemptions. --Aleenf1 01:32, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
You are quoting a section of the policy that is irrelevant. The policy clearly states the above and thus its acceptable to include flags on sporting events. Please start a discussion on the relevant wikiproject to get a wider opinion. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 03:27, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
How the flag use is relevant, where it stated "where the subject actually represents that country or nationality", a city which host the tournament and not a country which host the tournament, thus is already way off the subject and flag use should be avoided. IOC awarded the host city to "Tokyo", does it mention the IOC awarded to "Japan"? If you said WikiProject can decide everything, then what the purpose of Manual of Styles? This including the flag use in infobox, which as a guidelines. --Aleenf1 07:19, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

edit

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

The article Euro Hockey League clubs performance comparison has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

clubs performance comparison are not notable according: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/EHF Champions League clubs performance comparison

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics - Men's Field Hockey

1/ Rupert Shipperley is not a captain of the side. That role belongs solely to Adam Dixon. 2/ Underneath squad you have repeated information I have already included immediately above.

Thanks. Drams707 (talk) 19:18, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. However, I note that you have deleted the entry regarding the announcement of the squad from the narrative section. It would have made much more sense to have deleted your own entry which is located incongruously after the squad heading rather than before it. Drams707 (talk) 20:58, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Transclusion

edit

I added the Argentine squad back by using the transclusion but could/should have contacted you first. I wrote the same in the edit summary but here it is better. Why do we not use it that way or are you going to update the caps/goals, then i can understand not using the "system". Kante4 (talk) 04:15, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Kante4: I was gonna update the caps after the Games, so for now we can use the transclusion but the other downside of the transclusion is that it does not show the current age but the age at the games and when the Games are over it is not really accurate anymore.Justwagen (talk) 10:33, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
That is true, but for that the header is 2020 Olympic squad, maybe it helps. If you want to update the caps, go ahead and remove it. Or we could copy the "text" and remove the age and have it "live" there. Just another idea i just got, as i wanted to do the handball ones after the games. What do you think? Kante4 (talk) 10:36, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Kante4: Some countries like Argentina and the Netherlands already have the right squad in editable text, so the transclusion is not needed but for others like South Africa the transclusion can be used. Another downside is some players will change clubs after the Olympics for the next season. So I think if the Olympic squad is already right in the article like for the Netherlands, Germany, Argentina, Spain, Belgium (all men) and GB (men and women) just keep it and then the clubs and caps can easily be updated after the Olympics, but for the others the template can be used.Justwagen (talk) 11:06, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Revert

edit

Do you have a good and valid reason for this reversion? As far as I know, this is not a disruptive edit, and I want to hear from you. Fma12 (talk) 22:57, 19 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Fma12 Your edit is quite disruptive actually because you are changing the whole format for the results format. Other sports like football use a similar format as was used before and all the field / indoor hockey articles use the format which you replaced. The flags are not needed and breaks MOS:FLAG and secondly it is totally unnecessary to make the table sortable. Parwa104 (talk) 15:43, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
About your statements: 1) Indeed football articles use similar format but I did not change the format, I just added sortable paramethers and number of editions. About MOS:flags, there is no problem to show flags on lists/tables and they are discouraged on infoboxes (this is not the case).
To finish, your sentence: it is totally unnecessary to make the table sortable: unnecesary why? Where is it forbidden? (can you provide me some link to a MOS where it is specifically indicated)? Otherwisw you're giving an opinion, not a valid reason to revert an edit. Changes were not "disruptive" at all as you stated. Fma12 (talk) 17:36, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Fma12 But why do you think your format is an improvement becuase I don't see why the old format should have been replaced. Parwa104 (talk) 17:43, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Again, you're giving a personal opinion, not a valid reason to revert a change. I ask you, why do you disagree with making a table sortable or a count for the numer of editions held? Fma12 (talk) 17:46, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Speaking of "football", Copa Libertadores, List of Copa América finals (among other tables) have sortable paramethers. And I don't see any problem in that.Fma12 (talk) 17:49, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

2024 Men's EuroHockey Junior Championship moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, 2024 Men's EuroHockey Junior Championship, is not suitable as written to remain published. It appears there is a WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 10:49, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Onel5969 I understand there aren't enough sources in the article but I don't appreciate being accused of being paid or having a conflict of interest. I just have a passion for hockey and maybe I am a little bit enthousiastic when choosing articles to write. I will work to improve the article.Parwa104 (talk) 10:55, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
And you shouldn't appreciate that accusation. You have my sincerest apologies. There is nothing to indicate you have any connection with the event and/or organization. I used the wrong template when I moved it to draft. I can correct it now if you would like, so that it reflects the accurate rationale. I would have done that once I received your note, but did not want to do that without you agreeing to it, so as not to appear I was hiding anything. Onel5969 TT me 13:38, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

An article you recently created, 2024 Women's EuroHockey Junior Championship, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Arguments?

edit

Could you tell me what is your problem with the edits made at FIH Pro league articles? Have you find something unappropriate? Are the changes unseful or vandalism? Please be more specific and try to justify your points of view. Thanks. Fma12 (talk) 14:20, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

BTW, I think that before reverting, it could be discussed at the articles' talk pages. Fma12 (talk) 15:13, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry I probably should indeed discussed it first on the articles talk page. The reason I changed it back is because then it is consistent with all the other field hockey tournament articles. Parwa104 (talk) 15:34, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Apologies accepted, btw if my changes do not follow the lines of similar hockey articles, you can undone them. I just tried to make a constructive addition. Fma12 (talk) 17:48, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
