Works published by the U.S. federal government are in the public domain. It looks better now when I edited it so it did not repeat itself. It just needed the correct name of the Butterfield's unit. I still need help learning how to make a footnote with a number. Maybe that is automatic. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 22:07, 17 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please do not discuss sources in the article text, nor use first person pronouns ("we find..."). The article text should summarize what the sources say, and the sources should be given in properly formatted references, preferably using {{Cite}} templates such as {{Cite web}}, not as URLs in the article text. Thank you. CodeTalker (talk) 20:22, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks AngusW. I am not getting paid by anyone. I am an information-holic, retired historian and writer with time on my hands. A few people in my family died this year, and reminded me that I would like my informational legacy to be accurate. I am confirming everything for the Glenn Miller article with the main sources (historians, museum curators, society historians). It is not a conflict of interest to make corrections to the file. I hope to edit my own work again to make sure I delete duplication. I repeated myself when I put info. under one heading that also applied to the topic in another heading. I am edited the Hoogenakker article after 10 months of research. I am also going back to review my work in my own computer and verifying the current LIVE status as I work on it. I hope you are able to use the stage career notes. Anyway. Thanks. Oh, there are professional advertising links at the bottom of the page. They link to each other, and have most of the same information. I included corrections and updated the job list to complete the article. I forgot how to get into the Talk section. Thank you for your help. If I have more questions, should I return to this spot? Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:22, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much for reviewing my chart. It looks like you are getting sources for each play. I will see what I have too. I hope I can send it on the webpage and you can copy it as you did earlier today. Thanks again! This will be great. Even though I know his birthday, I heard him say in two interviews that he does not tell everybody that, so then his graduation days would give away his birth date, so I left that blank. We don't need to share the personal data of a living person. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:37, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan' season 1 took its time in establishing each of its major characters and one of them was John Hoogenakker's Matice. The black Ops man for the CIA was instrumental in season 1 when he raided Mousa Bin Suleiman's (Ali Suliman) compound and for also taking care of the last of the terrorists. Season 2 saw him deployed on a mission to the Venezuelan jungle on an IRS mission that goes full south and the team ends up leaving Marcus (Jovan Adepo) behind. "Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted." -- that is why I removed some wikilinks. I also wondered if I should delete the names of the advertisers or products, BUT Dilly Dilly and Walter the Cat are famous, so was not sure about that one. The links on the bottom to Stewart and imdb go to each other when you are in each website, and their purpose is to advertise for their client. I guess that is why you are confirming the whole resume, as I did during my research. It all started with the cat! That is when I began researching everything I could find about the cat (nine of them who play Walter) and the actor JHoog. I even learned how he pronounces his name.  !!! Hey there Angus. Thanks for your help! Here is most of my research. I will take a break and see if you need anything else later. Hey, what made you decide to write a wikpedia article on Hoogenakker? I've been trying to get his resume updated and edited all year without a reply. You'd think Stewart would appreciate me giving them free work. Well, I am glad to contribute all my work on this. I started it because my family loves the cat in his Chevy ads. Unfortunately, my own cat just died in June. He was only nine. From my research I know he has a dog, not a cat. Read you later. Thanks again. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 22:58, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I joined Wikipedia so I could create a page for him. Then, I saw that there were other articles that I am actually an expert in that I could edit, so I did that too. More later. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 23:01, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Oh, it's because I worked on the Dilly Dilly article off of a few sentences, and someone created the JH article later. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 18:37, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please remove any IMDb information and referencing. IMDb is not a reliable source. I should be able to use his other work already published. Same with TV Maze. Do not use those. Those are user-generated databases.

If you want to get to the talk page for John, go to Talk:John Hoogenakker and you can start some threads there. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 23:51, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Since it looks like you're wanting to develop his bio, can you help reorder his work chronologically? Also you can have a section for Stage career separate from Film and television career. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 00:04, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes please - I would like to have a Stage section separate from the Film and TV sections. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 09:27, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
In my research, I found many more TV and feature movies. I don't know why they are separate in various lists I've seen. Also, some have more categories, and include the episode names and numbers. I think it is fine just to say someone was in a movie series without having to write every episode - maybe write guest star, but some lists like his resume use "recurring" and other descriptions that are used by the actors' union. So --- should I put my film list back on so you can double check it? Guess what? I have watched a lot of the films and TV shows on the list. I even bought the one episode where he appears in Mind Games. It was cute. Don't worry, it was only 2 or 3 dollars on Amazon Prime Video. I have watched everything I can find on the Internet, including scenes he plays on stage. It was a surprise to hear him do several accents. One play normally has a big cast, but they played it with a few guys playing many characters throughout the show. Critics said it was hard to figure out what is going on. I think Maggie Smith was in a movie of it that would make sense to watch some time. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 13:09, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Kinfo Pedia, the filmography doesn't have to be a complete list or per episode breakdown. IMDb and other databases can hold that, and there's an external link to that if people really want a "complete" list. So, no, I don't believe every minor film needs to be listed here, just a handful that have shown at major festivals and won awards. It's more his major work that can be cited to external news articles like critic reviews. As you can see I found a ton of them from the local but major Chicago newspapers, and some of the more national ones like Broadway World, New York Times, Variety. He's actually had a large body of theatre work so the writeups you are filling in can be supported with that. I was gonna move some of the profiles and blogs to the same level as the resume as those are usually self-published. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 18:13, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I spent nearly all year researching the dates and characters of the films and plays. I want the whole list to go in there, especially since I found a few that his Talent Agency missed in their work. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:14, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I became a contribute so I could write everything I researched to cover his entire career. That way, people have a complete picture. His own web people should have done one on their site, but they didn't update it or change it as the years went by, so this is an anonymous gift for writers, oh for his family too. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:20, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
contributor, funny typos in my own paragraph Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:21, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
"Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted" This means we editors should not be using his Wikipedia page to try to advertise or promote him. So no verbiage about him being an amazing / talented actor or whatever. It doesn't mean we shouldn't cover that he has appeared in advertising material. It means we need to stay neutral on his coverage, and include the bad publicity on top of the good. See WP:PROUD AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 00:12, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Right - I am not promoting him, just listing all his work. Okay - so don't use various adjectives unless it is in a quote from someone else. One short article (2 paragraphs) claimed that J.H. was "unknown" before his audition for Dopesick (that just aired last fall). He is not "unknown", that is definitely wrong. I will definitely skip that source. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 13:00, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
The adjectives can be quoted and cited like Angus of Wikipedia wrote that JH's portrayal "really nailed it (rest of quote)".(reference) You can look at voice actors Yuri Lowenthal, Dee Bradley Baker and Kari Wahlgren as bios where I have included critics reviews and quotes of their work right after listing what they starred in. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 18:21, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
He was unknown as a television actor. You don't see any articles prior to 2017 about his extensive television and film career, only brief mentions in credits lists. He was well-known as a stage actor in Chicago and Milwaukee, and got mentions in national articles such as NYT, Variety, Broadway World, Playbill. When the biography is written out it doesn't need to say he was unknown unless a bunch of newspaper writers are saying so. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 20:07, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please note that I have made a list of suggested references to add to the article over at Talk:John Hoogenakker and see Refideas. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 00:20, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I had most of them, but I reviewed all of them again. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 13:00, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Also, you don't need to bother his agency to update his resume. If they did respond or gave you any new direct information, you might end up with a conflict of interest. Same with the birthday situation. If you know his birthday from corresponding with his agency, then it doesn't need to go on here. You need to get your information from public sources like the newspapers / magazines or if he self-discloses it on social media like tweeting "today is my xxth birthday". AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 00:20, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am avoiding putting anything that people can use to figure out his birthday because he only hints at it in interviews and does not outright say it - that is why I also took his age out of his quote and avoid writing his graduation dates. I will check out your talk page in a few hours. I have not been able to sleep partially because I wanted to remember to remove his age. I think we are also supposed to avoid advertising products, so I will put the product instead of the manufacturer. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 09:32, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks again. - That means if the agency wrote me back, it could still be wrong information - right - good to know. If they made so many errors that I saw in the first two seconds of reading it, they still might get it wrong. I spent months looking up each theater name, play title, and character name to fill out the history and get it right. I listened to many interviews too, and got their transcriptions to use to get accurate quotes. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 09:36, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
His birthday is one of the things I am avoiding because it is for a living person. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 13:01, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
If the agency wrote back, that would be private information anyway so couldn't share it. But yes, that's why Wikipedia doesn't use primary sources like his resume or theatre profiles, and prefers external secondary sources. Sometimes, got no choice though but to use primaries, but that's usually to prove existence of the work, as you can see with some of the theatre and television credits. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 18:24, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Actually, historians do want primary sources. Often, the second and third layers of writers have quoted the same wrong information. We want quality, not quantity. It takes a lot of self-control to avoid sending corrections to correct every article. Sometimes people write the wrong information on purpose to try to trick people into giving them the information. One or two articles claimed he was divorced. I didn't correct them because I figured out what their game was. So, you're right about finding the source of the sources. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:10, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
The Talent Agency has a public website that it supposed to be accurate for their management of the actor. That is the starting point for the career work list. The corrected version should be in the article. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:17, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm hoping he gets a blurb in People magazine or equivalent that celebrate his brithday, or that he publicly discloses it on Twitter. The latter has actually worked for some celebs like Jason Statham and Chris Cuomo, search "today is my birthday". AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 18:29, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
The Wikipedia rules specify that we are NOT allowed to quote social media, even if they do say "today is my birthday".
That is for LIVING people. Yes, I already know his birthday from several source, but know that he has not used it in his own publicity, so I am not going to let people know his age without him do so himself. Please keep it private if you ever find it. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:00, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Wiki says we are not to "reveal personal information" about living people. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:01, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please DO NOT reveal his birthday, or any private information. This Wiki page for a living person is only for his professional career. Let him stay private. Thank you. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:12, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I have note yet figured out how to use the talk section, but I did review every link there, and found one I couldn't get in because it was a paid newspaper. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 12:56, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have been researching many sources for nearly a year. I can include those when I review my folders. I have folders for nearly every play. I have photos that we cannot use because we have no idea if they are in the public domain or not. If someone wants to know what he looks like, they can read the source material. I need to put the chart back in there. I am taking a break for now. I found archival mini bios in the theater websites where the plays were done. I also researched the character names so that each section has them. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:05, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Kinfo Pedia, please do not add your version of the filmography. This makes it look more like an actor resume than a Wikipedia article. I know it's probably more complete but it can't be sourced properly and it also violates WP:MOSLOW which recommends ascending chronological order. It also has original research WP:OR that would need to be cited better.

Also, do not remove the links from the lead paragraph and early life section. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 13:45, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Living people can sue writers who put personal information in a Wikipedia page. This page is for a living person and should not have anything in it that tells people his age. Let them figure it out on their own. This is not a biography. Hoogenakker himself has avoided putting an article on Wikipedia, and the rules also say the article is not supposed to advertise a product. That is why we want to avoid linking products that people want to sell. If you want to put footnotes, do it on the bottom set of charts. The top three charts need to be clean, so any footnotes should be separate from them. I reviewed hundreds of articles that have something wrong in them. I did not use the source of someone who copied the chart exactly because even the name of their site is about dating. They claimed JH was single. They are trying to trick people into doing their work and into revealing personal information, which again, is sue-able because the person is alive. Please leave the top three charts clean. I put the main sources for the career history above the chart, beside the title of the career list. Please keep any footnotes out of the chart. The chart was supposed to be one solid entry. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 19:28, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Kinfo Pedia, several comments to your reply:
"page is for a living person and should not have anything in it that tells people his age." - not true - see WP:DOB. If the age is publicized and referenced it can be posted. Right now I don't see any news and magazine articles that indicate so, so there is nothing to post for birthday. His birth PLACE is publicized from multiple newspapers and interviews so that isn't private information. Same with his high school activities and parents names.
"the rules also say the article is not supposed to advertise a product. That is why we want to avoid linking products that people want to sell" - this means the article is not supposed to have verbiage that promotes the subject or product. WP:PROMO That's different from writing in a neutral tone that he worked on promotions for certain businesses. The advertising verbiage would be stuff like "highly acclaimed" or "award-winning". It's not advertising to say he was nominated for an award or that the show got an award. See WP:IBA for examples of advertising verbiage.
"you want to put footnotes, do it on the bottom set of charts" - no, see WP:FILMOGRAPHY. References can be at the end of paragraphs, sentences, or in the filmography case, at the right side in the Refs. column. It needs to be in chronological order, not reverse chronological, see WP:MOSLOW. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 20:01, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
His age is NOT publicized. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 20:13, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
not officially, and not by him. Let him put his own personal data on his own website. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 20:23, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
He has avoided saying his entire birthday in his interviews on camera, radio and in print. People can figure it out if they read or hear many sources but that are not him publicizing it himself. His church information is even MORE private, and he does not live there anymore, and it invades the privacy of his family to reveal it, even if his friends and relatives accidentally revealed it. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 20:17, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your help. I want to put his career resume back in as one block and put the footnotes only to the sources wehre he had the entire resume listed. Then - put footnotes only on the changes that were made. Changes to his resume only include the following: spelling, names of plays, names of characters, names of theaters. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 20:22, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, the chart is looking better, so the tiny print does not show up, maybe it was in editing mode. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 20:48, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
References should be cited in the biography paragraphs, although they can reuse the ones in his filmography and stage credits section. Do not add the resume-like career credits in that other format in biography. That makes it look like a resume. See WP:FILMOGRAPHY. The only time the Stewart resume is used is in case we can't find ANY sources that confirm the credit. Once the television episode or film can be sourced separately, whether it be viewing the episode itself's closing credits or opening title credits (use {{cite episode}}) or TV guide or someone else's writeup, then that and any other primary source profiles can be removed. If you noticed, I found an episode that mentions Hoogenakker in a Vulture review. Those are preferable to the primary. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 20:50, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
This article is getting much better. What a team! Beware of the tabloid press. They might be just stirring up information that is wrong, as I found in several articles that quote earlier wrong sources. As a historian, I want to make sure every statement is true. There are also things said in interviews that don't need to be in the general public. Sometimes, he jokes in character, so it is not really HIS answer. He acting expertise on stage is a wonderful surprise. I guess half of his career is on stage. Maybe a third of each - stage, screen, commercials (on and off camera). Kinfo Pedia (talk) 22:05, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please do not keep undoing the early life section and removing years of graduation or high school activity that is already publicly sourced to newspapers and theatre bios. That is disruptive. See Wikipedia:Disruptive editing I really don't want to have to call on other editors to remind you. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 20:54, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
His dates are not revealed by himself and should not be in a wikipedia article. He never reveals his church affiliation. His mother shared it by accident in her local paper. Please be kind to John H. and his family.
What is the email address you have for a Wikipedia employee?
I researched all year to get ready to put this article here. I avoided using sources that quoted wrong information (which there is alot). Actually, I just realized, there should be NO relatives (living, or do they need to be dead to be listed?) listed in the article. His mother is not a public figure, and while mentioned by newspapers, should not have her privacy invaded. John does not live in that area, does not go to that church anymore, and the privacy of the church and its members should also NOT be invaded. Please keep personal information out of this article and/or start another article completely. Pleased start another article. Let me keep this one as I had planned all year while I was researching to make sure everything was true and allowed to be mentioned. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:37, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I haven't read through the wall of text above, but I have skimmed it, and I took a look at the history page of this article. A few things, first, there's nothing in WP policy about birth dates, graduation dates, etc. if they are a matter of public record (which basically means they can be cited). Second, removing cited material is considered disruptive editing. Similarly, re-adding uncited material, as per WP:BURDEN, is also considered disruptive editing. Third, WP is not a means of promotion, promotional phrasing or claims should be avoided, and if it's removed/rewritten, should not be reverted (AngusWoof gives a good brief summary of that above). Fourth, resumes of actors should not be used (they tend to exaggerate), treat them like social media, so you can use them for certain claims, but sparingly. Fifth, two things which should NEVER appear in a BLP, even if they are public knowledge, are home addresses and phone numbers. Sixth, once you write something on WP, you give up all rights to it. Take a look at WP:OWN. There is no "2 day rule". And Seventh, you make several statements above which indicate that you have some type of relationship with this subject. What is your affiliation with them?Onel5969 TT me 21:37, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, you are great - Angus too. I am award-winning, professional, retired, writer, researcher, and historian who intends to write the correct information in every thing I research before I die - as an informational, historical legacy. I was thinking about interviewing the actor, but found nearly everything I need for the article online. I hope he would review it and assure us that everything is correct. I hope Wikipedia is a permanent website. If I had my own website, it would disappear when I died and stopped paying for it. Three people in my family died this year, and even worse, my cat died He was the best cat in the world. My dad has cancer, my mom and I are having big birthdays this year. so- it's all about leaving a legacy. People who want more information can click on the footnotes. It is great to have the article be easy to read and written in a journalistic style. This includes the lists of his work. I was thinking of describing each thing, but the other websites have done that. I have already worked on this so very hard, and need to get back to my other articles. Thanks for your advice. Please let the article "sit" for a few days so we can review it again with fresh eyes. Oh, that's another reason I am working so fast - my vision is getting worse. Thanks again. And sorry to say, I did find his age published from another Charlotte Observer article, so I've added that. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 18:04, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
NO, PLEASE remove his age so they dont delete the whole article. He does not want it published. He has not even had a wikipedia page made and his friends have, so that is a sign. He can contact Wikipedia / file a ticket about it, per WP:BLPPRIVACY, or tweet about it on his social media. However, he is a notable public figure so there is no point in calling for his article to be deleted. See WP:PROUD AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 23:05, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Graduation year / College: YES, public. The graduation year is all over the multiple Depaul University articles strung up in that Theatre Blog. Each one's like: "JOHN HOOGENAKKER (BFA, Acting, ’99)" He's even in Notable Alumni on their college website with his graduation year [1]
Graduation year / High School: YES, public. Charlotte Observer article. The school is even putting him in their hall of fame.
Religious affiliation: NO. It's not relevant and there are no news articles out there showing his current affiliation. He also shouldn't be categorized by religious affiliation at the bottom of the article.
Did he sing for a church choir? YES, but so what? Also saw this in other published interviews. I changed this to "choir". He also participated in children's theatre.
Did he participate in debate team? YES His theatre bios and more newspaper articles published that. That isn't private information. They even publicized that he won some state competitions. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 23:31, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
The Hall of Fame thing did not have his year in it. NO do not put CHURCH in there. That was a lifetime ago. AND is not where he goes now, nor lives now. It is an invasion of privacy for the church too. DOnt say so what. He does NOT need to have his old former church listed to be innondated with news reporters, or tabloids. Why do you keep putting private stuff on there. PLEASE stop putting dates on there. The rules on the sign up log say not to put birthdays, but maybe birth years, ONLY if they put them somewhere like on his PUBLIC website for his Agent. This page should be ONLY for his CAREER with no personal information revealed. Whoever wants to find personal stuff can go to the tabloids themselves and tons of other websites that have wrong stuff in there. We should not really quote wrong articles either. Stop arguing with me. Why did you start this web page on JH? I was going to put his resume that I had researched from FEB - AUG, and get his input for any changes if he wanted to add any other work that is not listed. Then, I found the FUTURE Work on Waco, so I put that on the list. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 23:53, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
After discussing with other Wikipedia editors about this, I've removed the parents names and spouse's name. Also found other articles showing he moved his family elsewhere so am leaving that out. So the personal life section just states that he's married and has two kids. I struck out the graduation year for high school since the hall of fame from that high school doesn't emphasize the year. However the college graduation year stays because the school proudly lists him as such and the news articles from the school repeatedly list his graduation year. Hello, I'm Novem. It's nice to meet you.

On Wikipedia, we have one job. To pretend like we know nothing about the person we're writing about, to go find reliable sources such as newspaper articles that talk about them, then summarize those sources accurately. This should be a dispassionate and objective activity. There really shouldn't be this much debate. Either the source says it or it doesn't.

Also, please stop saying things like libel laws and Just keep it off there so you don't get sued. Legal threats are not allowed, please see WP:NOLEGALTHREATS.

I recommend you dial it back a bit and follow the lead of experienced editors. People like AngusWOOF and Onel5969 know a thing or two about writing encyclopedia articles ;-)

Hope this helps. Thanks and have a great day. –Novem Linguae (talk) 00:08, 26 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hey there. I am a writer, researcher, historian, and have researched tons of sources for nearly a year. I wanted to have a complete article finished before I added it here. I noticed the actor did not have a wikipedia page. I edited tha chart, and have sources in my computer. I have tons of files that I am working from that I researched and collected all year. I read the Wiki rules abotu living persons and do not want to harm the privacy of the person and his family. That is why we should NOT put in his birthday. Here are clues that he does not want his birthday written down --- he does not have a wikipedia page, his fellow actors do have them, he does not put it on his own website, not the one in four cities and not on imdb, when he mentions celebrating during his interviews, he doesn't reveal the year or the date at the same time, and he does not live in Hollywoood. The Wikirules I read said that if someone said in an artilce "today is my birthday...", we could copy and paste that, but if not, or if the information is found on his personal social media we are Not allowed to use it. I don't want to be sued myself, and would not want my fellow contributors to be sued, not Wikipedia either. People need Wikipedia. Anyway, thanks for writing. Oh, Newspaper sources are not always reliable. I found five sources that said Thomas Stone died on different days and different locations. Obviously all of them, or all but one of them are wrong. Also in research, we find that many people will quote the same wrong source. Something else is interesting. I found that people write articles with wrong information to try to draw out the celebrity ouf of his private - ness to change it. I want to have a page of just his professional acting work and not his private life. I want to learn how to put on photos, but if that is too hard, then we could just put a web address to them for the readers to use. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 16:42, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
The number on the bell said I had six notes, but yours is the only one I could find. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 16:45, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

This note appeared when I scrolled by ER, so I don't know why since I was not working on that section. I didn't change anything since I cannot figurre out how putting a character would not be right. Oh, I think his character name was Dr. Collins. Let's put that if we find it again. -- found it ------- https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0567945/characters/nm2139624
Here is the note the box sent. I still think we should keep his name in there.
Notice about sources
This article must adhere to the biographies of living persons policy, even if it is not a biography, because it contains material about living persons. Take extra care to use high-quality sources. Material about living persons should not be added when the only sourcing is tabloid journalism; see more information on sources. Never use self-published sources about a living person unless written or published by the subject; see WP:BLPSPS and WP:BLPSELFPUB.
Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately from the article and its talk page, especially if potentially libellous. If such material is repeatedly inserted, or if you have other concerns, please report the issue to this noticeboard. If you are connected to one of the subjects of this article and need help, see this page.

Kinfo Pedia (talk) 18:41, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Kinfo Pedia, IMDb is not a reliable source. You will have to look at the episode itself and see if his name is mentioned by credits in that episode and then whether the show mentions his character name. If indeed you can confirm that, then use a cite episode and put in the timestamps for the episode. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 20:36, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
did that - double-checked yesterday. I also watched his episode of Mind Games - it was interesting. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 15:46, 28 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
As for the other roles, same story. If you can find non-resume reliable sources that confirm the role and the episode, then you can cite those directly. In the meantime, the reference is posted as "Resume" or "Bios" which means it is going off his own self-reported or (auto)biographies that clearly involve his own input. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 20:42, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
His resume is a self-published source so it is not reliable as a reference, see WP:SPS. So the preference is to change those out with secondary sources (reviews of the work, listings by other publications where he did not have control over what shows are listed in the publication) or primary sources (TV & Film credits from the media itself / cite eipsode, official websites). AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 20:54, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Someone's own resume is a great source of accurate information, especially when it is current. I found it on six website, so it was a great starting point. Then, I searched for each play and film to get character names and add an entry. or two. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 15:48, 28 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I got the numbers by looking it up and counting it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ispottv is NOT his website. They count EVERY advertisement by all actors
Please keep my numbers and links in there. I did all the research before I put anything on the page and my role list is even more accurate than the ones on his talent website, because I looked up every single one so I could get photos and videos and descriptions of all the plays and films, and even saw some great reviews. I even watched a lot of them. The Bud Light King ads are NOT called the dilly dilly ads, one I know is called "The Banquet." Please leave my work on there, and let me improve the writing.   Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you.--Jayron32 19:32, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Just to clarify, your additions to the article American black bear are not useful or constructive. If you have a dispute with what is written in the article, use the talk page instead. --Jayron32 19:33, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
The title of the article should include saying "Black Bear". Or that line abou disambiguity or whatever the line is that I forgot what it is.
I think "Black Bear" should be in the title of the article. BUT - You DO have an article for it. You could put it in the top line. Black bear is the term that is used all the time to refer to the black bear in North America. That should be at the top. The other word is not used in America. It is only used in Europe. That should be mentioned, OR that word should be deleted. Here are some sources I am trying to make a footnote for ---
https://glosbe.com/it/en/Baribal
In Europe, the Italian word, “baribal” translates to American Black Bear, it is not an English word. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 20:54, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. Sorry -- I thought it was okay to use quotes if you set them off as you would in a term paper or book. I did include the links and wanted to put them as sources for the list in the "external sources" section. So -- good idea -- just put something in my own words and then link (footnote?) to the document so they can read it themselves. Oh, I included a document link that was a pdf, so that is not a quotation, it is a link to the source. If I have time later, I will see if the source where I found it is still in the list on the page, and just add that. Thanks for your advice. I am definitely NOT trying to violate any copyright policy. I wouldn't want people to do that to my books either. I started out just correcting one typo, and then thought, why not add more history. Thanks for letting me know so quickly! I appreciate it!!! Happy Easter. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 16:24, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

June 2023

edit

Please take more care when editing: I reverted your edit to Glenn Miller because it appears you used a "search and replace" function to replace every use of "us" with "u.s." which resulted in many, many errors in all sorts of words like musician, because, and use. This is unhelpful and even disruptive - please check before making such edits in future. Furthermore, the reason you gave in the edit summary for doing this ("U.S. must have periods for the abbreviation to be correct") is incorrect - while it may be your opinion, wikipedia has a manual of style and it allows for either and so there was no need for this edit at all. Melcous (talk) 14:02, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!! I was having a hard time trying to reverse it and was going through every line to fix it. Thank you so much! I am sending you a hug! The U.S. with periods is the correct abbreviation for the United States. I researched that for a long time to find out, and that is what we should use. We don't need to use Associated Press manual styles. Thank you again for the repair! Kinfo Pedia (talk) 16:21, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
You are welcome, but again it is not correct to say on wikipedia that periods must be used for the abbreviation US. We have our own Manual of Style that should be followed, not what either Associated Press nor your own research says, and per MOS:US either is correct, and one should not be changed to the other without good reason. You have noted above on this talk page how much research you are doing. I would ask you to read WP:OR, as wikipedia is not the place for original research, rather we include what published, reliable, independent secondary sources say. Editing to include your own research will keep getting reverted. Melcous (talk) 00:18, 15 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks again. I forgot all about the Wki manual. The page would not let me use the back button to revert anything so I really needed you! Thanks. Right, I don't think it was original research when I looked up sources to confirm the abbreviation. Now I will let everyone else do punctuation and focus on obvious typos and facts that need to be added. Thanks. It would be helful if you could delete all of my talk notes prior to June 2023 since it is hard to find the new ones now. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 22:04, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Dear Wikipedia,
I haven't been on Wikipedia for a while, so am deciding to reply to this message. Sometimes people change what I write months after the update.
I love to make things accurate, so if you have something to add to an article, please do so without bothering my corrections.
Please do not punish me for someone's opinion of what should be in a paragraph or how something is spelled. I go to a lot of trouble to research things to make sure what I am adding is correct.
I will make sure to keep adding citations to show where I found the information (unless it is just a typo).
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:55, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Aw, I saw this entry too late to vote. Well, my suggestion is --- let people add to articles without being punished by another editor whose information may be wrong. Make sure everyone adds citations to their information. Let a real employee of Wikipedia help the writers be free to write and submit work. Most importantly - do not block an editor, and do not let someone's opinion block an editor. We all want to put the correct information and spelling in the whole website. That is the only way we can recommend its use to others - when we know people are putting in the correct information. We are all trying to help. I would not make an error on purpose. Editors should be able to talk to a real Wikipedia employee and even submit changes through them when needed. Thank you for your work. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 20:03, 13 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as 100th Infantry Battalion (United States). You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. I have been researching sources and included them as I went along and found them. I am proving that this topic is a valid one and not one that someone else put in there for political reasons (someone not from the U.S. who spelled behaviour with a u.) what political reasons? ltbdl☃ (talk) 13:41, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi there. I don't want to repeat the quote from the news that someone was trying to insult someone by calling them a cat person. Putting stats claiming the cats and dogs are in red or blue states is not a good idea. It is better to just go ahead and name the states, using the list from the websites where the estimated count is located. I already spent about 19 hours on the topic, so I will take a break and review the sources I found - hundreds of pages. Then I will summarize it and put the footnote source and/or link it to where I found it. It is always better after editing it. Thanks. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 16:27, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi again.
I got a note from someone else saying they think I put in too much copyrighted quotes. I thought it would be good to put the source passages in there, but they just want it to be a summary and put the link to the footnote. That will help avoid saying the same thing twice in a row. Well, it's a fun topic, so I will look at that later, hopefully.
In the reading I just did for seven hours, I found that some people think there is no such thing as a cat person or dog person, just someone who likes animals. BUT - Whoever started the page had noticed that people DO use the terms cat person and dog person, and even pet person.
This year, I learned that those terms are new idioms in English, and want to put that in the top paragraph. Speaking of idioms - I could "put in everything and the kitchen sink" (hee hee).
Thanks for your help. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 16:33, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I thought you were able to quote something and put a footnote on it. --- When I summarized the History Channel paragraph, I also added the actual passage from the Channel's online website. So, what you are saying is that I put in TOO MUCH information. I just now spent seven hours researching more so I can use more footnotes. I hope to return to the page later to add a few things, and will try not to repeat what I already wrote.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Cat people and dog people, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Norse. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Thanks. I did not mean to link the Norse language. The info. I read said that the word translated to Cat People in Scotland was a hybrid word (never heard of that before, so that was interesting, so that is important to say. But I definitely did not mean to link it to anything besides the name of the language. Thanks for helping! I've been researching and writing for that page for two days to make it the best page ever, and the most accurate. I wonder if any other cultures call themselves "cat people" or "dog people". Well, putting the captions on helped keep the subjects within the article together. Editors Unite! Have a great day. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:11, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

What was it? I cannot find whatever I put and whatever you put. Do NOT block me from editing. I do a lot of research before I put anything down. I also put SOURCES, and quote the sources, so people will know where I found it. Please send me what I had to double check what it was. I don't put in anything without sources, and put quotes on anything that is quoted. Please put whatever I entered into the chat talk and let's review it to see what should be on there. It hurts my feelings and is kind of abusive when other editors criticize me. I go for a long time without using Wikipedia, and then find things that just need to be corrected, so I do the research to make sure it should be there. I am not vandalizing by the definition of it. I only put what I have researched. Some people write things without sources, but I check it and include it. So--- I do NOT plan to infringe on any copyrights, and I have even sent evidence of it to the owners of trademarks (Kiss, Cubs, Disney) who might want to sue the people who are selling stickers with their logos on them. Anyway - that is not relevant. Sorry about that. Dedicated writer who wants to get it right, Thanks. Send me the changes I made so we can get it right. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 13:32, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
The text I removed was details on the activities of police dogs in general, copied from the website of the National Police Dog Foundation. The page is marked as "© Copyright 2021 National Police Dog Foundation". There were no quotation marks or any indication that you intended it to be a quotation. Regardless of the copyright issue, general info about police dogs is not a suitable addition to this particular article, which is about a TV show. I will send you the deleted material via email. — Diannaa (talk) 17:44, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello Diannaa. Instead of a big section that avoids summarizing it, someone should just use the term that is used in the show, "law enforcement animal" and/or police dog. We could just put the website as a resource. If you would do it, that would be great. If you want me to fix it, I could do that later. Thanks. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 19:23, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Here is what I just wrote to D. that agrees with what you said on Oct 7 --- Instead of a big section that avoids summarizing it, someone should just use the term that is used in the show, "law enforcement animal" and/or police dog (and K9 or K-9, they are all correct). We could just put the website as a resource or a citation. Maybe that would be like citing the dictionary for defining dog. Hilarious. Thanks. Please stop saying I've been "warned". It is abusive to see that. I am definitely not doing anything on purpose. Back in college, a prof. gave a B instead of an A because I put "too much" information in the paper. How about that! Guard, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Identification Badge

edit

@Kinfo Pedia, in this edit you added two sentences. The first said that tomb guards "make it their goal to earn the Tomb Guard Identification Badge", sourced to this. That source says nothing about it being a goal, only that "earning the Tomb Guard Identification Badge" is a "high honor". Your second sentence says that the badge "is awarded after the Sentinel passes a series of tests, including one on the history of Arlington National Cemetery", sourced to this. That source does says that the badge is awarded after passing a series of tests, but does not say that the tests cover the history of the Cemetery. Please do not add your own interpretations or embellishments to the information that is in the sources.

Also, the name of the badge is listed as "Guard, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Identification Badge" in several of the sources used in the article, including the Dept. of the Army pamphlet Guide to the Wear and Appearance of Army Uniform and Insignia, and Army Regulation 600-8-22: Military Awards. CodeTalker (talk) 20:17, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

I think the title of the article should be Tomb Guard Identification Badge (TGIB). The title for ordering physical badges and patches could be in the second sentence.
That's what the Tomb Guards call it. When you take the "Badge Test", you are going for the TGIB. Unknown Soldier is not in the name of it. TUS is the name of the burial and location, not the badge.
It is the goal of all Tomb Guards to earn the TGIB. They even have to pass portions of the test in order to earn a walk.
I guess you want more sources to show the name of the badge as it has been called since it was created over 50 years ago.
Tomb Guards themselves call it the Tomb Guard Identification Badge. It is that way in many publications and websites.
You do not need not use the uniform list for that. TGIB should be the main title, and the uniform name should be in the sentence that follows it. Kinfo Pedia (talk) 21:51, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
If you think that the name should be changed despite the official sources that use the current name, I suggest that you open a discussion on the article talk page and present your argument there. There are many apparently reliable sources that use the current name besides the two I presented above, such as [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9]. You will need good sources to counter these and explain why the Army and Arlington Cemetery use the apparently wrong name for the badge. CodeTalker (talk) 23:07, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
You have again made these name changes without sources and without discussion. This is not acceptable. Please open a discussion on the article talk page, present your sources, and get consensus before making these changes again. CodeTalker (talk) 17:30, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
