RE: Axe to Fall at Metacritic
Yea, I know. I just thought it was sad that Axe to Fall was given the honor of being listed as one of the best reviewed albums of the year, and then taken off the list entirely. Especially since there are plenty of reviews out there that could bring the album's aggregate score back up! Oh well :( Fezmar9 (talk) 21:28, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- I could not agree more! Seven reviews is not nearly enough to generate a general consensus among reviewers. It's not like these reviews are hard to come by. Lazy employees maybe? I don't know if you noticed or not, but according to the best of 2009 page, seven reviews is the minimum for being included in the list. Perhaps someone at Metacritic is a fan of Converge and posted the bare minimum just to get them included in the best of 2009 list? Fezmar9 (talk) 23:08, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- That is my eventual plan. If you will take a peek at the talk page, I am currently working on expanding it further -- rewriting the "Writing and recording" section, and also a brand new section on the music and lyrics. Probably even some audio clips. However, because this has been my main focus on Wikipedia for since October, I grew tired of everything Axe to Fall. So I am taking a few weeks off focusing on other things, but will return and finish work on the article. Perhaps you could help me with listing it when the time comes? I have never done that before :\ Fezmar9 (talk) 23:36, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you! I would greatly appreciate that. I will leave you a comment on your talk page when I feel the article is ready. In the mean time, you should have a look at a new section I started at Talk:Axe to Fall#Metacritic. I found an article on Metacritic that still lists Axe to Fall as the best of 2009. Hello, Cannibaloki. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the first meeting between you and me. Anyway a friend recommended you on the topic of "groove metal". Bom Dia!/Greetings
I noticed that you are working on some of the Wikipedia portals. My focus is on the biographies of musicians here. Half of what I do on the Wikipedia involves contacting photographers and asking them to give up their copyrighted photographs and instead allow me to upload them to Wikimedia Commons using a CC-BY-SA Creative Commons license. The other half of my time I edit articles here- but end up doing so much cleanup everytime I place a photo on an article, that I get sidetracked a lot, and end up focusing on a dozen articles rather than just one. It sure doesn't earn barnstars, but the BLP project and the Unreferenced article project really need attention. Anyway, I just thought if you are making portals and are looking for photo ideas, I keep an unfinished list of close to 400 photos or so I have placed on Wikipedia on my Userpage, and in Wikimedia Commons. I use the same username there. Finally, I was hoping that because you know so much about discography and record pages that you might consider helping two bands- Thin Lizzy (and Phil Lynott in particular, as well as Rory Gallagher. Both are from Ireland, and at least three of us are keen to improve the articles, add a few album pages and edit the discographies for them. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 14:47, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- To work on these articles you will need several books and magazines. Have you researched related material?--Cannibaloki 15:43, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yes! I have a book by his former bassist, Gerry McAvoy, Riding Shotgun: 35 Years on the Road With Rory Gallagher. And many magazines and videos. My focus is Rory Gallagher first, (outside of all my other Wikipedia workgroups, including Derek Trucks and The Derek Trucks Band, which can also use your help) but Rory Gallagher's page gets more hits than the others, and after that, Thin Lizzy needs help. For Rory, a separate discography was started, but many album pages don't yet exist. If you can also help with that, especially? I don't know much about them, but I added some ugly source links to his solo albums still listed on his main article. Most records are listed on the Discography page, starting with his first band, Taste and then his albums, and finally others he played upon, including two notable albums; one with Muddy Waters and another with Lonnie Donegan. His website just got upgraded- even the little photos of the albums are there. I left an entry on Rory's talk page full of references, and have two playlists in You Tube where my name is "4rainbowed" full of live interviews with him, and, in the external links section of his article is an entry containing lots of "Guitar" magazine articles, reviews and interviews that were scanned that may help. I'm trying to assemble a workgroup for Gallagher, and then, work on the Thin Lizzy pages which also can use discography & album help. After that, there's Thin Lizzy, who have recently reformed, and then, Derek Trucks! Will you help? --Leahtwosaints (talk) 16:09, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- Due to my lack of knowledge in relation to these artists, I'd rather not get involved in this work (for now). At the moment I only can help you formatting the references and things like that.--Cannibaloki 22:24, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
