Festival Stakes
Thank you for fixing the links to the Festival Stakes dab page - I created the page a little while ago but forgot to sort out all the links - thanks for clearing up my mess! --Bcp67 (talk) 21:10, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
- No problem. Nick Number (talk) 21:11, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
Sorry I lost your edits while cleaning up there! DMacks (talk) 20:01, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
- S'ok. I think I got most of them restored. Nick Number (talk) 20:11, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
mrakd002.302
So I removed the image because there are better quality images available on Google Images and I know that Wikipedia is capable of replacing its images(namely single covers, which they did last year to Michael Jackson's [[[Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough|Don't Stop Til' You Get Enough]],Rock With You,Off The Wall,Girlfriend,Billie Jean,Beat It]and in my opinion I think those images worked well with their relative pages but for unknown reasons the debate was closed on removing them. One of the reasons why single covers are eventually removed anyway is because they violate the subject's rights; it wouldn't be fair if all those cheesy pictures of Stevie Wonder's early Motown period were available on a public online encyclopedia - that would be fairly embarrassing for him.Fingertips wasn't even his biggest no.1(it only charted on two Billboards). I personally wish that James Brown's images were on WikiPedia a well but now you know why that's not happening. So in my conclusion,I think this is a mess that anyone can clean up.
- I've responded to this at Talk:Fingertips. In the future, it would be best to continue discussions on the same Talk page where they start. If there is a message that is intended for one particular user, it's customary to post it to their Talk page, not their userpage. Nick Number (talk) 16:56, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
Merger discussion for Monotypic taxon and Monospecificity
Articles that you have been involved in editing—Monotypic taxon and Monospecificity—have been proposed for merging with another article. If you are interested, please participate in the merger discussion. Thank you. Nessie (talk) 18:55, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA)
Why'd you undo and remove my edits on ALEA's majors and officials? I know what I'm changing and talking about seeing as to how I'm the son of an ALEA Trooper 2013AtlantaBraves (talk) 21:20, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
- @2013AtlantaBraves: Hi. I presume you're talking about this edit. The issue isn't that the information is inaccurate; it's that the Infobox law enforcement agency template only supports six child agencies. As I mentioned in my edit summary, it might be better to remove these from the infobox entirely since they're all in the body of the article. Nick Number (talk) 00:17, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Ah I understand, I apologize if my question came across rude. Have a good one. 2013AtlantaBraves (talk) 02:00, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
The article Annie Hart (Family Affairs) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Little content, no references
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Atlantic306 (talk) 20:41, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Atlantic306: No objection, but rather than deleting, I would suggest changing it back to the initial redirect to List of Family Affairs characters#Annie Hart. Nick Number (talk) 20:44, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
- will do, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 20:46, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
Other people's money
Re: This revert. In that case I'm going to add the abbreviation to OPM and restore the link. Business Dictionary does use the acronym with OPM.
BTW I found out about this acronym from watching Martin Shkreli's introductory video on investing money, where he used that exact acronym (OPM) to mean "other people's money". WhisperToMe (talk) 18:01, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
- That is the way to do it, yes. Nick Number (talk) 18:11, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

Thank you very much for fixing my errors on Zebulon Butler's page! It was my first edit, therefore it was done poorly, and you did quite the job at fixing it. Thanks again! MacaroniFashion (talk) 01:34, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- @MacaroniFashion: You're welcome, and congratulations on your first edit. Don't worry too much about the minor style points; even some experienced editors miss a lot of those.
- If you enjoy working on biographical articles, WikiProject Women in Red is a big area of focus right now.
- On the other hand, if you do decide to focus on minor edits and fixes, the Typo Team and Disambiguation project are easy to jump into.
- Or you can do your own thing at your own pace. These are all valid choices. Nick Number (talk) 02:32, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
Thank you!
Thanks for tidying up my edits on the Peter Grant series of books! I'm still learning the intricacies of wikicode so your usage of "ref name" was very helpful - I'll be making use of it in an article i'm working on at the moment. Mark49s (talk) 18:10, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

Women in Red
Hi there, Nick. Welcome on board. It's good to see we have another experienced member who is interested in translating women's biographies from Spanish. You'll see we have lots of redlinks on women from Spanish-speaking countries on our lists by nationality. If ever you run into any trouble or have suggestions for improvements to our project, drop us a line on our WiR talk page. If I can assist you with translation from Spanish or anything else, just let me know.--Ipigott (talk) 11:10, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
- Gracias. Actualmente estoy trabajando en un par. Nick Number (talk) 14:31, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
Hi, is is possible you could join in the effort and put the articles you've done this month on the achievements list, we don't currently have entries for Honduras and very few for Bolivia and Mexico etc. There's up to $4500 to win but even if you don't want a prize you can contribute independently. It would make a difference, thanks! There is also Wiikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge if you're interested long term :-)♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:33, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

The Original Barnstar | |
I uhhh... You really pulled the rug out from under me. Here, have this for your contribution to Latin America at The World Contest. Vami_IV✠ 06:17, 9 November 2017 (UTC) |
Hey, while I'm here, you got any handy resources for Latina women? I've managed to accumulate a tidy pile of some stuff but you seem to have/know a LOT. –Vami_IV✠ 06:20, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for the barnstar. In my defense, you did pull the rug out from me on Gabriela Montaño. I was about 30 minutes from finishing my translation when you published yours. But I'm over it. Mostly.
- I'm afraid I don't have access to anything special in the way of resources. Google Books is what I use the most. I've been cherry-picking entries from the project lists that have the best references in the Spanish articles to begin with, so I don't have to do as much searching.
- Uh, I've been singing karaoke at an Ecuadorian place in Chicago. That's not really a resource, but I'll recommend it anyway just because it's fun. Nick Number (talk) 15:54, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- Maaaaan, me too. It's hard to find sources for women whose biographies don't have them - they might as well not exist according to Google! –Vami_IV✠ 19:36, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
Thank you Nick, seconded, we greatly appreciate your prolific work!♦ Dr. Blofeld 07:17, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
New Page Reviewing
Hello, Nick Number.
As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors, |
Support to prevent my page from being deleted (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Localizing_the_SDGs)
Dear Nick,
I have seen the comment that you have left in the page I created (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Localizing_the_SDGs) and I was wondering if you could please support me.
I have already revised the page, added references and excluded things that may have caused your comments.
I really want to ensure that my page is not deleted, so if you please can let me know if you have any other advice for me, it would be great appreciated.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Kind regards, Anna — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnnaEstrada (talk • contribs) 16:56, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
- @AnnaEstrada: Hello. I recognize that you've put a substantial amount of work into this composition. It's certainly thorough and well referenced. But there's a fundamental issue – what you've written is an essay and not an encyclopedia article. This type of writing is much better suited to an academic paper or journal article. I would recommend stating your perspective in the deletion discussion. Others may have valuable input, such as Ajraddatz's suggestion to incorporate some of the material into a section on the Sustainable Development Goals article. I admire your dedication in creating such a detailed piece, and I hope this does not discourage you from future contributions here. Nick Number (talk) 17:38, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
Dear Nick,
Thanks a lot for your message. I do appreciate your time to get back to me.
Unfortunately, my page was deleted and I am still not sure why. I have removed all the content that made it look like an essay, but even if that for me, it was similar to other Wikipedia pages, it seemed not to be good enough. As you mentioned, I did put a lot of effort to develop the content of that page, and I would like to add here again. Please if you have any advise on how I could best proceed, that would be extremely welcomed.
One more time, thank you.
Best, — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnnaEstrada (talk • contribs) 14:50, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
- @AnnaEstrada: A good starting point for seeking guidance might be the Talk page of the Sustainable Development Goals article. The various WikiProjects listed there, such as United Nations, International relations, and International Development could also be helpful. Nick Number (talk) 15:42, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your advise, I will check all these pages before adding my page again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnnaEstrada (talk • contribs) 08:50, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs
Thank you for your recent articles, including Ida Holz, which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK. Let me know if you need help, Hanyangprofessor2 (talk) 07:01, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages
Thank you for your recent articles, including Ida Holz, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Hanyangprofessor2 (talk) 07:01, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
- Ok, I will keep it in mind. I'm going back to tag my older articles now. I'm sure I can look forward to feeling extremely cross several times over the next few weeks as they all get assessed as Stub. Nick Number (talk) 17:21, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Nick Number.
I recently sent you an invitation to join NPP, but you also might be the right candidate for another related project, AfC, which is also extremely backlogged. |

Invitation to participate in study
Hello,
I am E. Whittaker, an intern at Wikimedia with the Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. A full write-up of the study can be found here: m:Research:Civil_Behavior_Interviews. We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? I am contacting you because of your involvement in Wikipedia’s Women in Red project. The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please email me at ewhit@umich.edu in order to schedule an interview.
Thank you Ewitch51 (talk) 21:35, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for the invitation, but I don't think my experiences would be particularly valuable for this study. Nick Number (talk) 01:23, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
Why delete my Normandie entries?
Please show me the policy? Also why change the syntax on the link? Broichmore (talk) 19:49, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Broichmore: the relevant style guidelines are at WP:DDD. In particular:
- For the pipe-linking of French ship Normandie (1835) and Normandie-class battleship, see MOS:DABPIPING.
- For the entries without links, see MOS:DABENTRY - "Include exactly one navigable (blue) link". Nick Number (talk) 20:33, 20 June 2018 (UTC)

Sorry to see you are having such problems with this one. I fully support your efforts to translate the Spanish article. Now I have alerted a few of my close collaborators, I hope the negative discussion on AfD will be reversed and the article will be improved. Keep up the great work!--Ipigott (talk) 16:03, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Ipigott: Thank you. I'm not sure I want to continue dealing with it after having my good faith and translation skills called into question by people who are still busy fighting the Falklands War. To stay positive about what I'm doing here, it might be best to let this one go. Nick Number (talk) 16:18, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- I think you are probably right in not wanting to work further on the article. I hate edit wars myself and I can see there is a distinct probability that those who have already removed large chunks of content will not give up easily. I'm nevertheless confident that a number of us can work on the article and restore it to something worthy of WiR. Thanks for all your efforts. Just keep on producing more useful content.--Ipigott (talk) 16:51, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- Ok, I'm stepping away and unwatching it. Ping me if something comes up that requires my input. Nick Number (talk) 17:08, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
