Hello!

I am very glad to hear from you on the 20th birthday event. I have thought about finding out Autistic Wikimedians, and their Wikimedian experiences. and starting the Autistic user group to make advocacy workings in the movement. I want to know about your thoughts on this idea. - Ellif (Talk) 17:07, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:1408 disestablishments

A tag has been placed on Category:1408 disestablishments requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Concern

Hi Owen.

I'm concerned by this comment. I understand that there is a claim that Beeblebrox has engaged in off-wiki harassment. I'm not sure I agree with that, but I'll put a pin in my opinion on that point. My significant concerns are

  1. Queerphobic: I have never seen any indication that there is any bigotry in Beeblebrox's motives, and I believe instead it is down to personality disagreements.
  2. Doxxing: I have never seen any indication that Beeblebrox has participated in any doxxing at the off-wiki site.

Do you have any evidence of either of these terms? If so, I believe this should be taken further. If not, please could you refactor your comments to be more accurate. WormTT(talk) 16:08, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

I was just coming here to ask the exact same question. Powerful claims require strong evidence and I'd like to see the specific edits which support your allegations please. Spartaz Humbug! 16:22, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
This has been taken up with WMF T&S; I am seeking their advice. — OwenBlacker (he/him; Talk; please {{ping}} me in replies) 18:21, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
You probably don't want to just parrot lies that Fae is telling. You have no more evidence of these absurd claims than Fae does, because they just made it up out of thin air. T&S will see through that as easily as anyone else. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:10, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
If this is with T&S you should not be bringing this up on wiki. It is not acceptable to cast aspertions and refuse to back them up and pulling up t&s when challenged has the same chilling effect as a legal threat. I strongly recommend you either withdraw your allegation or evidence it as otherwise I will take this further. Spartaz Humbug! 19:52, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, it's kind of nuts that a group of people accusing be of being a bully are bullying me with these "I've reported you" threats. It didn't surprise me to see it from a disgraced former admin on Commons who was desysopped for being a bully, but I didn't expect to see it just repeated as if it were fact here. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:31, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
Fine, I'll retract in the face of your chilling effect — OwenBlacker (he/him; Talk; please {{ping}} me in replies) 20:41, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
Playing the victim and the aggressor at the same time is classic Fae. Sorry to see it rubbing off on you as well, but I do thank you for withdrawing your unsupported, unsupportable accusation. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:13, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
I'm glad you saw sense but your petulance does you no credit whatsoever. You made an incredibly serious allegation and then failed to back it up. Maybe next time you will do you research before committing the edit. Spartaz Humbug! 02:43, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

Campaigns Product Update #2

Hello Campaigns Product Newsletter subscribers! We are excited to share our updates:

  • Request for Feedback: We have shared our project principles, wireframes for the desktop version, and open questions for you about the team’s event registration project. See the latest status updates here.
Wireframes are design tools that imagine the future interface of the software. We haven’t built anything yet. We need your feedback on these designs so that we can make better product decisions. You can give feedback on the talk page regarding the design and features of the wireframes. We would love to hear your comments to help us establish the next necessary steps for the project.
Please share with us your feedback!
  • Presentations: The Campaign Product team participated in WikiArabia 2021 and WikiConference North America 2021 to give a brief introduction on how the team works. Senior Program Strategist Alex Stinson gave an overview about campaigns and how we can scale the organizing experience within the Movement. Senior Product Manager Ilana Fried gave an introduction about the Product Team and the project wireframes of the first campaign software solution: the on-wiki registration tool. View the recorded presentation here.
  • Team update: We have hired our first team engineer, JCarvalho and our campaign organizing fellow, IBrazal. Newsletter updates will be done by IBrazal and she will be coordinating with you! We hope to have the rest of the engineering team onboard soon! For those of who missed the last Campaign Office Hour, you may watch the recording to know more about the Campaign Product Team.

What is next?

Testers Needed! We will be partnering with YUX, a design research agency, to learn how our team can improve the experience of Wikimedia campaign organizers and participants in Africa. For this reason, we are looking for community members who are willing to be part of the rapid testing sessions. Preferably, we want organizers and editors who have worked in an African context. If you would like to participate in testing, please email ibrazal-ctr wikimedia.org.
Upcoming Conferences. Wiki Indaba 2021. This year, the conference will be held virtually on November 5-7, 2021 with the theme "Rethink + Reset : Visions of the future". Read more about the conference here or register to join the event. We will be presenting the registration features on Sunday November 7.
We will also be attending Wikimedia CEE Online Meeting 2021, which will be held virtually again this year on November 5-7, 2021. We will be presenting the registration tool on November 6 as part of our communication and sharing process.
Translation Support. We are also beginning to translate the updates on Registration. If you think your language community would benefit from updates, please translate here.

Feedback
Do you see any advantage or disadvantage of any sort of our proposed event registration system?
Will it provide ease of access and use to you as a campaign organizer?
Does the proposed event registration provide convenience for registering participants?
What are the essential features this first version needs to have so that you can use it?
When you are running a campaign, what information do you typically send to participants, and where do you usually send it

(e.g., talk page, email, social media, etc)?

Do you prefer that we build the desktop version first or the mobile version of the registration system first?
Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank you!
