MOS:TIME

In case you missed it, MOS:TIME actually says "Usually, use noon and midnight rather than 12 pm and 12 am". In prose, I would agree with you that the word “noon” reduces ambiguity, but in the box scores used in NFL season articles, the context is enough to let the reader know the game didn’t kick off at midnight, and it’s more important to keep consistency in the way we present all times, rather than satisfying a MOS guideline. – PeeJay 14:10, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

Presenting a question

Hi, you created the impeachment vote table. I'm probably being very dense, but could you please tell me what the "Present" column is? Thanks. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 19:10, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Mandarax, no worries! House members can vote "yea", "nay", or "present" on bills and HRs and such, and voting "present" is essentially is a way of abstaining (i.e. not voting yes or no), with the other way being to not vote at all. It's explained in a touch more detail at Abstention#International and national parliamentary procedures. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 20:44, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
Ah, I was obviously unaware of the difference between "present" and "not voting". Thank you very much for taking the time to explain! MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 21:20, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Minor Leagues Project

Hi PCN02WPS, this is BeanieFan11, I just want to tell you that the Minor Leagues Project I made doesn't look like it will be made. Since 3 users have opposed and it is kind of covered at the main football project (WikiProject American football). Most likely, it's just going to be done in my userspace at User:BeanieFan11/American Football Minor Leagues Project. Unless a we make it a sub-project or task force of WikiProject American football. One other thing I wanted to ask you, just to get another user's opinion, do you think Josh Day is notable. I didn't find much information on him and he didn't actually play in the NFL. Do you think it should be nominated or proposed for deletion? Thanks. BeanieFan11 (talk | contribs) 01:44, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

BeanieFan11 - unfortunate that the minor leagues football project won't make it but I totally understand the rationale brought up by those that opposed. I'd be more than happy to work on it with you as a task force under WP American football, if you'd want to do that. As for Josh Day, I'd PROD it, as it appears to fail WP:NGRIDIRON (as he didn't actually play in a NFL game), and WP:NCOLLATH (as he unambiguously fails criteria 1, 2, 4, and 5, and I'd say 3 as well as the most notability he got was a MWC preseason second-team spot and his team's MVP award for the year). Honestly, it's close to being eligible for a BLPPROD, given that the one and only reference on the page, an external link, doesn't seem to work anymore, but I'd use NGRIDIRON and NCOLLATH to be safe. I'll endorse the PROD once you put the tag on it. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 03:12, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
Hi again, I just want to let you know that I just put the PROD tag on the Josh Day article. I did find one source for him (https://csurams.com/sports/football/roster/josh-day/1242). The information about him seems to be mostly a copy of this, except that I didn't see it say he was the team MVP on this. For the project, I would like to do a task force with you. I just need to read some more about task forces before I can create it. Thanks. BeanieFan11 (talk | contribs) 16:52, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
BeanieFan11, I have endorsed the PROD and left a notice on the article creator's talk page. I'll look into task forces, I don't know what the protocol for creating them is, but I'll see what I can find out. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 17:23, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Hey PCN02WPS! Noticed that you added the ITN talk banner for Wayne Terwilliger. Just FYI, to complete the banner you should grab the oldid from the end of the URL of the appropriate edit from https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template:In_the_news&action=history, that way there is a direct link to the specific update to ITN for the article. Thanks! Ideally cite this paragraph as well: As defending Super Bowl Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs recorded an NFL-best 14–2 record in 2020 under eighth year head coach Andy Reid. Other than a 40–32 loss against the Las Vegas Raiders in week 4, their only defeat was in the final game of the season, when they rested most of their starters because they had already clinched the #1 seed in the playoffs. This appearance will be the Chiefs' fourth trip to the Super Bowl. They lost Super Bowl I (1967), but won Super Bowls IV (1970) and LIV (2020). Otherwise it's perfect. – John M Wolfson (talkcontribs) 03:31, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

Noon

Responding to your comment on my talk page, perhaps I might have misunderstood the meaning of MOS:TIME, but I don't understand it to be prohibiting the use of the "12" or "12:00" with "noon" or "midnight," which is especially the case since "12:00 pm" is an oxymoron in terms of what "pm" actually means (even though, of course, it's popularly (mis)used to mean "noon" anyway). I suppose this is a situation where there wouldn't be any ambiguity as to what it means, given that it would be exceedingly unusual for an ACC Tournament game to start at midnight, and if one did, it would likely be the last game of the day (due to multiple-overtime games or similar) and not the first one! 1995hoo (talk) 13:00, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Venue for Celebration Bowl

Hi – I see that fbschedules lists the Celebration Bowl at Georgia State Stadium (now Center Parc Stadium); however, the Celebration Bowl website still says Mercedes-Benz Stadium. I also wasn't able to find a press release or news article stating that the game was moving, so I believe at this point that fbschedules is wrong (they may have confused the Celebration Bowl with the MEAC/SWAC Challenge, which is held at Georgia State; both appear in this press release). So, I'm going to set the venue for the 2021 Celebration Bowl to Mercedez-Benz Stadium... if we run across anything confirming a venue change, I'll be happy to revise further. Why did you use a false reference?

I mean this source[1] does not say what day the football game will be played at all. So why did you use it in such a way?...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 21:53, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

You did it with 2021 Cure Bowl too. Why are you putting fiction into articles?...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 21:58, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

WilliamJE, an interesting accusation but purely fictional in and of itself. Thanks. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 04:14, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
WilliamJE, curiously, the source in question does indeed give that information, but oh well. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 04:16, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021

New Page Review queue September 2021

Hello PCN02WPS,

Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.

Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.

At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.

There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.

Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

Happy First Edit Day!

College Football bowl games

Hi. I noticed that you were the creator on both the 2021 Holiday Bowl and the 2021 Las Vegas Bowl pages and I was wondering if I could assist with adding the matchup to those pages when the time is right. I promise to be quick with the edits but not too quick. Please respond when you have time. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 07:27, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

GoWarriors151718, sure thing! I'll also probably end up adding a paragraph or so on each of the teams and some prose on the game summary (like at 2021 Conference USA Football Championship Game), but that will only be as the games themselves approach (and you're more than welcome to help with those as well, of course). PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 17:02, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. I appreciate it. And I would be more than happy to help you out with the Pac-12 bowl games for that matter. I live on the west coast so I hear lots about that conference. Thanks again. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:14, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Obviously, I don't know whether or not you are going to be doing updates for the Holiday Bowl tomorrow. But if you are, may I assist with updating the line score at the top of the page when the game goes final please? I would do more but I know of a fellow UCLA fan that I have worked with this season who has some interest in helping out with the actual bowl page. If you are busy, then please disregard this message. Happy Holidays to you. Lastly, I just thought it would make sense to leave a scoring drive template just in case someone else decides to add the drives. I thought that it would be smart to keep them consistent with 2019 Holiday Bowl. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 01:01, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
GoWarriors151718, you're more than welcome to update that page as the game happens if you wish, with scoring plays and such - I'll probably eventually change the scoring summary format to use {{AmFootballScoreSummaryEntry}} templates (I can switch it over now if you don't think you'll be updating it) - but for now that format works great. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 17:16, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
GoWarriors151718, I'm assuming you've seen (if not, I'm sorry to break the news) that the Holiday Bowl was just cancelled. I know you mentioned the Las Vegas Bowl as well in your initial message, so you're more than welcome to help update that page (or any other, of course) when that game is played. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 20:53, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
I did see the news about the Holiday Bowl. It's unfortunate but I guess it is just a sign of the times that we currently live in. I can help out with the Las Vegas Bowl if and when it happens. Thanks for being such an easy to work with person. I appreciate it and I look forward to working with you again in future seasons. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 23:41, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
