commas and semi-colons?
Hello Peaceray. I see you edited my article on Marianna Schmidt. I am wondering why you changed the semi-colons to commas. As I see it, both Chicago Manual of Style (6.60) and Wikipedia's own manual of style (9.7) suggest the use of semi-colons to separate items in a run-in list when the listed items have internal punctuation, as with the Museum of Contemporary Art, Lima Peru or Museum of Modern Art, New York. Do you see it differently? Cantabile3 (talk) 08:45, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
- Cantabile3, of the list, only two had internal punctuation, namely commas. However, I had nearly 30 edits that day, mostly as part of the Vancouver Art+Feminism edit-a-thon, & I did overlook converting "Museum of Contemporary Art, Lima Peru, Museum of Modern Art, New York" to "Museum of Contemporary Art in Lima Peru, Museum of Modern Art in New York, ..." I have corrected that. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Peaceray (talk) 14:30, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for March 9
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Marianna Schmidt, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Museum of Contemporary Art. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:05, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
- As there is no article for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lima, Peru, yet, perhaps landing on the disambiguation page may inspire someone. Peaceray (talk) 14:32, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

Coldplay backlink
Hi, Peaceray.
I am making an article for Coldplay's newest album A Head Full of Dreams, but there is a backlink for it. I want it to be removed because:
1. I am new to this coding. I can't find it. 2. a. The Coldplay article is semi-protected to protect against vandalism. b. I am not an autoconfirmed user.
Thanks for understanding and I hope you can delete it soon.

Disambiguation link notification for April 26
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Silme Domingo, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ballard High School. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:56, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

Support request with team editing experiment project
Dear tech ambassadors, instead of spamming the Village Pump of each Wikipedia about my tiny project proposal for researching team editing (see here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IdeaLab/Research_team_editing), I have decided to leave to your own discretion if the matter is relevant enough to inform a wider audience already. I would appreciate if you could appraise if the Wikipedia community you are more familiar with could have interest in testing group editing "on their own grounds" and with their own guidance. In a nutshell: it consists in editing pages as a group instead of as an individual. This social experiment might involve redefining some aspects of the workflow we are all used to, with the hope of creating a more friendly and collaborative environment since editing under a group umbrella creates less social exposure than traditional "individual editing". I send you this message also as a proof that the Inspire Campaign is already gearing up. As said I would appreciate of *you* just a comment on the talk page/endorsement of my project noting your general perception about the idea. Nothing else. Your contribution helps to shape the future! (which I hope it will be very bright, with colors, and Wikipedia everywhere) Regards from User:Micru on meta.

Is this still important?
Sorry if I'm doing this the wrong way. I just wondered if the message you posted on my Talk page was still important. I didn't really understand it when it appeared, and didn't know what I'd done to prompt it or what to do about it:
== Category formatting in Hugo (film) ==
You may want to check the Category formatting in Hugo (film). There appear to be many misformatted categories that end up as extraneous text at the bottom of the External links section rather than as actual categories. Peaceray (talk) 01:39, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hi—Thanks for your note, but I'm afraid I don't know what you mean. I checked the bottom of that page and saw only valid external links, followed by valid links to other articles and categories. Am I overlooking something, or has someone else has fixed it? – AndyFielding (talk) 08:13, 7 December 2014 (UTC)

Weather update for Wiknic
Hi, weather update for Wiknic: the forecast is now for 91 degrees and a high UV index. Peaceray is bringing icewater, but everyone do please take appropriate precautions for the weather, such as sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and staying hydrated. There will be some shade in the trees. It's ok for those of us who are more temperature and/or sunlight sensitive to come but leave early, or skip the event if you think that you should; people who are very young, elderly, or have other health issues are more vulnerable to heat stroke. Health and safety first. Cheers, --Pine✉ 15:04, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Need help with user page
Hello, Peaceray.
You might know me from asking for a redirect to A Head Full of Dreams, which still isn't created due to it not being released yet. But, I need your help.
You have an awesome userpage, no doubt about it. Now, I don't mean to spam your talk page of any sort, but I need help with my userpage. It's just two sentences: one, two, the end. Can you at least send me some advice on some templates that I can use?
Thanks, Sheldon.andre (talk) 01:59, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)Hey there Sheldon, I noticed your note here. I also liked Peaceray's userpage format and stole it for my own. If you are comfortable using templates, here's what you do. Go to User:Brianhe/Header and copy it to your user space, maybe User:Sheldon.andre/Header. Then edit it so it has your name instead of mine. Also take off the top template that refers to an icons subpage (unless you want to create that right now). Then insert
{{template|Sheldon.andre/Header}}
to the top of Sheldon.andre. That should get you the tabs at least on your userpage. You can also copy the same template to any other pages you want the tabs on, such as User talk:Sheldon.andre. — Brianhe (talk) 02:54, 27 July 2015 (UTC)- Sheldon.andre: what he said! FYI... The "only Cisco certified technician can clean this" spamming is because Technical support scammers are referring people to the Wikipedia articles as "proof" of infection. That's why you keep seeing new editors trying to re-add it and why most of the anonymous edits are from India. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:48, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Looking for editors to help with an Asian Pacific American edit-a-thon in Honolulu
Aloha!
Last summer I moved to the Seattle area after 14 years in Kailua on Oahu. I immediately fell in with the Cascadia Wikimedians User Group as it formed, joined its board and became its first president as well as the GLAM representative for Washington State.
Recently, Adriel Luis, Curator (Digital & Emerging Media) at the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, contacted me about setting up an edit-a-thon like the previous Wikipedia APA edit-a-thon. In addition to discussing one for Seattle, he wrote:
“ | It's awesome to learn about your past in Honolulu - I'm actually going to be there for another SmithsonianAPA project mid September, and thinking that this could be an opportunity to do an event there as well! I have lots of contacts with UH and the museums, but do you know of any contacts on the Wikimedia side out there? | ” |
As I was working two jobs while I lived on Oahu, I did not have the opportunity to meet your or any other Wikipedians at the time. Hence, the reason why I am contacting you now.
If you would like to help, please contact me through one of these methods:
- Email me directly at peaceray@cascadia.wiki
- Use Special:EmailUser/Peaceray to email me
- Leave a message for me on my talk page.
Mahalo,
Peaceray

Re: Conflict of Interest
Hi Peaceray, I wasn't sure how to respond to your message so I hope I am doing this right. You messaged me about my edits to the Greg Gianforte page. I am his son so I understand your concern and appreciate your message. I was aware of my biases and tried to be careful with my edits. My father is a controversial figure so there was already some charged language and misinformation on the page. I intentionally left in any information that casts my father in a negative light as long as it was true. I merely eliminated untrue, uncited statements (e.g. that his nickname is "Baldy") and added balancing information to certain topics. For example, the only previous information about his charitable foundation was a single gift to a creationist museum; so I added general info about the foundation's scope and aim of benefiting education, protecting the vulnerable, etc. I did not remove the mention of the museum gift. I'm sure you will find that the article is more balanced and unbiased than before. If there are specific edits that you are concerned about, please let me know. Thank you for all your contributions to Wikipedia and your efforts to make it a better place. -adamwg333 Adamwg333 (talk) 20:00, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
Notice
Your account has been granted the "template editor" user permission, allowing you to edit templates and modules that have been protected with template protection. It also allows you to bypass the title blacklist, giving you the ability to create and edit edit notices.
You can use this user right to perform maintenance, answer edit requests, and make any other simple and generally uncontroversial edits to templates, modules, and edit notices. You can also use it to enact more complex or controversial edits, after those edits are first made to a test sandbox, and their technical reliability as well as their consensus among other informed editors has been established.
Before you use this user right, please read Wikipedia:Template editor and make sure you understand its contents. In particular, you should read the section on wise template editing and the criteria for revocation. This user right gives you access to some of Wikipedia's most important templates and modules; it is critical that you edit them wisely and that you only make edits that are backed up by consensus. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password.

ACC tool access request
Hi and thanks for your interest in joining the Account Creation Team. I haven't acted on your request yet in case your identification is in-progress but not yet posted to the noticeboard. If you have not identified to the WMF, you will have to do so before access to the ACC tool can be granted. Once identified, please complete your registration per the ACC Guide. I or another ToolAdmin will act on your request. Take care, DocTree (ʞlɐʇ·ʇuoɔ) WER 17:46, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

- Ah, but the procedures for access to nonpublic information changed since May. We can't approve your access to the tool set until you electronically sign the confidentiality agreement per the new meta page and that is confirmed by an entry on the noticeboard. Movement Wide Finance Report 2014
Dear Peaceray,
I’m Alex, currently a finance fellow (i.e intern) at the Wikimedia Foundation. I worked before for Wikimedia France, planning the Hackathon Lyon 2015 mainly. I'm today contacting you because of your activity for Wikimedia Cascadia User Group.
Last year, Finance Fellows produced a financial report that included financial activity from every chapters. It was great and has been presented at the Wikimania in Mexico.
If you haven’t seen the results of the Report 2013, here they are: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Chapter-wide_Financial_Trends_Report_2013
We’re currently starting the Report 2014 and this year we also want to include user groups to improve the scope of our work. I want to tell you that I’ve tried to make the process as short and easy as possible, so that shouldn’t require a lot of your time.
The aim of such a report is global. It helps having an idea of how the money is used across the movement, it helps chapters and user groups to learn about best practice and finally it leads to more transparency through a qualitative work, which I believe is important.
Could you briefly tell me if you had any income and expenses in 2014? If you are not the person responsible for this, please tell me who is the user the most likely to know this information.
I’ll be your contact for this project this year, I’m looking forward to working with you!
Cheers, ACella (WMF) (talk) 23:25, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I am the current Cascadia Wikimedians User Group treasurer. Our financial activities started in January, 2015 I believe ... our first funding request is documented here. -- Brianhe (talk) 01:28, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- What Brianhe said. I officially joined the board in January 2015, & if there were any expenses before that, I think they were probably out-of-pocket. Our Executive Director, Pine, would probably know best about this. Peaceray (talk) 16:58, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- ACella (WMF), Peaceray, Brianhe: all expenses in 2014 were out of pocket, and were done on an individual basis meaning that there was no pooling of funds as best as I can recall. The 2015 situation is different, since we have had formal grants this year and now have an incorporated nonprofit. --Pine✉ 17:48, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- Pine, Peaceray, Brianhe: Hi! Thank you very much for your fast answers and your cooperation, it's very appreciated! I now have got everything I need to know for the report. Good luck for the Cascadia UG, I'm sure you'll do an amazing work! ACella (WMF) (talk) 21:53, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

List of errors :
Currently, both the 111th and 112th slots are incorrect at :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_of_the_Popes
Previously the counting of the slots began with 167 with regard to St. Peter (Simon), the younger brother of St. Andrew, the first apostle called.
That was changed to a reckoning of the counting of the slots with regard to the actual names in the St. Malachy prophecy.
So the older 267th and 268th slots correspond to the current 111th and 112th slots, respectively.
The following edit, which was done several years ago, is correct regarding the 268th slot, the current 112th slot, in the list :
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Prophecy_of_the_Popes&diff=prev&oldid=306281384
There was wikiwarring against its original inclusion, now it is in worse shape.
The matter has been addressed with similar results but not without further elucidation :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Prophecy_of_the_Popes#Double_Error
Further explanation is available at :
http://risen-from-the-dead.forumotion.com/
as all other editors are murdering the actual person who is "Gloria oliuæ", that is "Glory of the olive", that is, the 111th (the former 267th) in the list. - -Exodus2320 (talk) 16:55, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for October 13
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of women astronomers, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page David Williams. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Personal acquaintances project
Regarding WP:Personal acquaintances, I noticed that Doc James just became confirmed. Have you ever met him? Maybe he could confirm you. I think you need just one more to become confirmed [347], then you will be enabled to confirm other people in Cascadia. — Brianhe (talk) 02:48, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, I met Doc James at Wikimania 2015 in Mexico City. Peaceray (talk) 03:07, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- That's great, once you get confirmed I'm pretty sure you can confirm Jmabel and me at least. Then if we confirm each other there will be three of us fully confirmed and able to confirm others. We all attend local meetups and we can really get things rolling. Edited to add Oops, deadlock between me and Joe ... we need one more confirmation to get rolling. Well, soon anyway, I hope. – Brianhe (talk) 04:18, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- I think I have confirmed you. Not sure how long it takes to appear. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 09:37, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, Peaceray is showing up as confirmed now. You should be able to go to Wikipedia:Personal acquaintances/Participants and start confirming others. Brianhe (talk) 13:33, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

October 19 meetup
Peaceray, would you mind sending me a quick list of editors who are / will be at the editathon today? I am not able to attend tonight but just wanted to help track the articles created like I did the last couple of times. - Brianhe (talk) 00:07, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
- Also by the way we are only a few thousand articles away from the 5,000,000th article on English Wikipedia (see stats). You might mention to the attendees that there's a non-zero chance that one of them will create that article tonight. Kind of cool! – Brianhe (talk) 00:09, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

Something to add to Harmine article
I have no idea how to do wikipedia edits, but this article may be something you want to add to the harmine page, and you were the last to edit it, so I figured I'd dump it in your lap and hope the info got to where it needs to be
Harmine may cure diabetes... of course its more complicated than that but here's the research link http://www.nature.com/nm/journal/v21/n4/full/nm.3820.html
Thanks... I'm so horrible at this, this probably isn't even in the right place.
Ah well, have a great day! 2602:304:CEC5:9C00:6C08:A13D:1451:A1FB (talk) 15:11, 13 November 2015 (UTC)Jeff
- Hi, Jeff! I previously read the abstract of the Nature article. I made some minor edits to the Harmine article, which automatically placed it on my watch list. I am interested in updating the article with the information from the Nature article, but have been a bit frustrated since it is behind a paywall.
- I am hoping that sometime over the next couple of weeks that I can go to the local university's library, where I seem to have access to various online databases. I believe that they have access to nature
.com.
- Since I am a lay person, albeit one with past experience as a librarian at a nursing college, I would probably ask some more knowledgeable to review it.
- I would encourage you to register an account & start editing. You might want to start with small edits; I suggest looking at:
- Wikipedia:Tutorial/Registration
- Create an account
- Help:Getting started
- When you sign up, let me know & I will add the {{Welcome-menu}} template to your talk page; this is a useful collection of links for navigating around Wikipedia & finding help.
- You can also ask for a mentor: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area or ask me if you have questions.
- Also, if you want to leave a message with suggestions about changing the Harmine article, you can do it by going to the Talk:Harmine page & clicking the "New section" tab at the right side at the top of the page.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. What on earth is wrong with the neo-liberalism edit?
I'm just telling the truth? It is a conspiracy theory and highly POV to say that there has been a "resurgence" of "neo-liberal" ideas without any source for that. The size of the state has grown in the vast majority of Western countries since lefties claim that there has been "neo-liberalism" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.175.91.21 (talk) 23:22, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Re : link color
I added an internal link to an article a few minutes ago at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antipope_Clement_III and noticed that the text color appears more of a magenta hue than the light blue in most other internal links. Can you explain here why this is so?--Exodus2320 (talk) 15:58, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
- Exodus2320, your mileage may vary; I looked at the Antipope Clement III artlicle & the Matilda of Tuscany wikilink that you added appears as the regular blue for me. Peaceray (talk) 16:54, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
- The differences in hue is due to whether one has visited the link or not.
- A vandalism has occurred here :
- by Favonion
- Documented here :
- Favonion's current status is shown to be blocked here :
- but is working its vandalism through :
- Exodus2320, I disagree with your conclusions.
- This diff for 1956 reveals no vandalism. The statement that Judas Iscariot was resurrected on June 25, 1956 requires verifcation from a reliable source. As per WP:VERIFY, "Any material that needs a source but does not have one may be removed." I could find no verification for this in the Judas Iscariot article (yes, I looked).
- Favonian made the edit you cite, not Favonion.
- Favonion's account is indeed blocked. Favonian made the block. If the two were the same person, I highly doubt that one account would block the other.
- Favonian is an English Wikipedia administrator with over 174,000 edits. I inherently trust Favonianon on that basis alone.
- Exodus2320, I disagree with your conclusions.
Peaceray, given your reason, it is understandable that you disagree as that would mean you have an additional 174,000 cases of vandalism, but I am only concerned with this one as I know for fact that Judas Iscariot has been resurrected, and it is not original research on my part, even as I retain a neutral point of view. Using Judas' name with an included internal link is not the direct verifiablity of this, nor was it intended to be, but to show the specific "Judas Iscariot" that has been resurrected, because many are the abuses of Judas' name in personal arguments, i.e., the phrase "Judas priest" intending to be derogatory.
Favonian's reason is that this inclusion of fact in the annals of wikipedia is a bit of humour on my part, which it is not, the erroneous assumption on both his part and yours, with the original revert cited, constituting the act of vandalism, as well as another abuse to the resurrected's name. - Exodus2320 (talk) 13:06, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
