If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page

@Peaceray:,

per your message on my talk page:

Please read WP:BRD and WP:CONSENSUS again. user General Iroh, the Dragon of the West made a bold edit ([32]), that I contested afterwards, and then you contested my edit. Hence none of his version, none of my version gained consensus, so I legally unlink that part according to the rules, since I opened a discussion in the talk, and we concluded we don't have consensus (as as well that the original linking was no ok). So with your misinterpration of the rules you've made this warning as a mistake, since I did not do any uncronstructive edit, on the contrary!

As result your statement of arbitrarily enforce your own point of view in your edits is false, you did this by reverting my unlinking, since than you support a version that a same way does not have consensus, so worst case the article should have been rolled back before any of the subjects mentioned edited.

I kindly ask you please very carefully analyze WP:RULES, because since a while you continously misinterpreting them, or not using them properly. Thank You(KIENGIR (talk) 17:02, 26 March 2020 (UTC))

@KEINGER: I am well familiar with WP:BRD & WP:CONSENSUS. My opinion is that you are abiding by neither. Your opinion is that you do, & that I do not. I heartily disagree with you. Please continue arriving at consensus on Talk:Hedy_Lamarr. Peaceray (talk) 17:10, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
Come on, do you undertand the BRD cycle right? General Iroh, the Dragon of the West made a bold edit (B)....I contested (R), entered on the talk, discussed (D). After we concluded having no consensus, I did not set my preferred version, not even yours of or Dragon of the West's, but simply none of them, but unlinked...if you know these rules, than you should have known you have to revert with such argumentation further, as I indicated, per the status quo ante principle (otherwise you are not neutral, because you set others and yours preferred version, that did not have consensus either)...Hope you see this, really...(KIENGIR (talk) 17:22, 26 March 2020 (UTC))
I am no longer engaging you here. There is a discussion at Talk:Hedy_Lamarr. Please continue the discussion there, where our comments will have greater visibility. Peaceray (talk) 17:32, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

Hello, I did a modification in the page of Demographics of sexual orientation because it says that "The World Health Organization estimates a worldwide prevalence of men who have sex with men between 3 and 16%" If you follow the reference of the study used you will see that the information of "3 and 16%" is reported by Frontline AIDS, formerly known as the International HIV/AIDS Alliance (IHAA), so this is not the World Health Organization and therefore it should be amended. That's why I changed it. Is that not correct? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.168.41.87 (talk) 14:01, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

You are largely correct. There is a redirect for both International HIV/AIDS Alliance & International HIV/AIDS Alliance (IHAA) that goes to Frontline AIDS. I think it is better to use the orginal author name as that is more direct & less confusing. Sometimes when hastily vetting, I can get confused. Sorry about that.
I have changed Demographics of sexual orientation#General findings to reflect this & to improve the citation. While you can see the changes there, I changed the wikitext to read as so:
The [[International HIV/AIDS Alliance]] estimates a worldwide prevalence of [[men who have sex with men]] between 3 and 16%.<ref name="International HIV/AIDS Alliance 2003">{{cite book |author=International HIV/AIDS Alliance |authorlink=Frontline AIDS |title=Between Men: HIV/STI Prevention For Men Who Have Sex With Men |url=http://www.who.int/hiv/topics/vct/sw_toolkit/Between_men_full_version.pdf |year=2003 |oclc=896761012}}</ref>

Social distancing move request

(cc: @Red Slash:) The previous move request was closed twelve days ago and there's no significant new information. What's to prevent the requester from waiting ten minutes after it's rejected this time and submitting it a third time? I'm new to this aspect of Wikipedia, but this can't possibly be the way the system is supposed to work. Am I missing something? Thanks, Dan Bloch (talk) 18:55, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

@Danbloch: I would refer you to Wikipedia:Requested moves. I have already expressed my views at Talk:Social distancing#Requested move 23 March 2020 & Talk:Social distancing#science, logic, intention, WHO, german language wikipedia. I also admonished Behzad Azarmju M.D at Talk:Physical distancing#Move discussion for the move of Social distancing to Physical distancing against consensus after reverting that editor's actions. My subsequent actions have been to keep things tidy at Talk:Physical distancing#Move discussion & Talk:Social distancing#A second request for move 16 April 2020. I think that your comments should probably go with that discussion or any that are opened at WP:RM#C. You're preaching to the choir here. Peaceray (talk) 19:09, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

DYK for Max C. Starkloff

On 19 April 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Max C. Starkloff, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that American physician Max C. Starkloff (pictured) used social distancing to fight the 1918 flu pandemic in St. Louis? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Max C. Starkloff. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Max C. Starkloff), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Dumfries

Hi! i noticed you changed back my correction on dumfries. We have absolutely ZERO “countries” in Scotland. A common mistake to make by nonetheless i decided to change it as it wasn’t accurate thanks! Samanthajaneh1 (talk) 21:34, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

@Samanthajaneh1: While I do note that jurisdictions have changed, your edits went beyond that to replacing valid templates with non-existent templates, changing image files to non-existent image files. This is not just about correcting jurisdiction labels. Please pay attention to the results of your editing. Peaceray (talk) 21:40, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

Wendy Carlos Gender Dysphoria

Thanks Peaceray for the correction of my language. I will remove the word "moronic" but I'm leaving in "bullying" because there's no other way to describe the belligerence displayed by the editors who insist on bolding a deadname in the lede. I will do this out of respect for the "feelings" of these moronic editors. I wish they could show the same courtesy toward Wendy.Rcarlberg (talk) 15:35, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Peaceray, I researched long and hard before I made my edit, and I decided highlighting "one of the first public figures" was unnecessary. Three reasons for my decision: 1) if you go the the Wikipedia article on "sex reassignment surgery" Wendy isn't even one of the patients mentioned. Therefore, calling her special in her own article seems hypocritical. 2) if you read the Wikipedia article on Harry Benjamin, who counseled Wendy, it lists patients undergoing gender dysphoria treatment in 1951, 1952, 1954, 1958, 1961 and 1963. Therefore Wendy's surgery in 1972 may NOT have been "one of the first public figures" afterall. 3) By highlighting Wendy's surgery, perhaps counterfactually, one elevates its importance when it is not, and should not be, the lead story on this composer. Please verify my research, and consider reversing your edit. Rcarlberg (talk) 21:18, 21 September 2020 (UTC)

@Rcarlberg: Let's please take this to Talk:Wendy Carlos as I believe that more editors discussing it there would be beneficial. Peaceray (talk) 04:27, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Wikipedia articles containing unlinked shortened footnotes

A tag has been placed on Category:Wikipedia articles containing unlinked shortened footnotes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Talk! 13:07, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

Back to the Future III edit reverted

Hi, my edit was intentional, it wasn't a test. I don't see how a space isn't needed there: you always put a space between the end of a word and an open parenthesis, it happens in sever other location in the very same article. May I reinstate the edit? Lopo (talk) 00:34, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Communalism edit

Hi, you reverted my change on Communalism that removed the main page link under Libertarian municipalism. I removed it because it's a self link, there is no main page so it just links back to the subsection on Communalism. I think the link should be removed since it's useless. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2606:A000:AFC1:3300:4CD5:20BD:B95E:AFF (talk) 21:27, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

GOCE June newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors June 2020 Newsletter

Hello and welcome to the June newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since March 2020. You can unsubscribe from our mailings at any time; see below. All times and dates stated are in UTC.

Current events

Election time: Nomination of candidates in our mid-year Election of Coordinators opened on 1 June, and voting will take place from 00:01 on 16 June. GOCE coordinators normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought about helping out at the Guild, or you know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here.

June Blitz: This blitz begins at 00:01 on 14 June and ends at 23:59 on 20 June, with themes of articles tagged for copyedit in May 2020 and requests.

Drive and blitz reports

March Drive: Self-isolation from coronavirus may have played a hand in making this one of our most successful backlog elimination drives. The copy-editing backlog was reduced from 477 to a record low of 118 articles, a 75% reduction. The last four months of 2019 were cleared, reducing the backlog to three months. Fifty requests were also completed, and the total word count of copy-edited articles was 759,945. Of the 29 editors who signed up, 22 completed at least one copy edit. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

April Blitz: This blitz ran from 12 to 18 April with a theme of Indian military history. Of the 18 people who signed up, 14 copyedited at least one article. Participants claimed a total of 60 copyedits. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

May Drive: This event marked the 10th anniversary of the GOCE's copy-editing drives, and set a goal of diminishing the backlog to just one month of articles, as close to zero articles as possible. We achieved the goal of eliminating all articles that had been tagged prior to the start of the drive, for the first time in our history! Of the 51 editors who signed up, 43 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Other news

Progress report: as of 2 June, GOCE participants had processed 328 requests since 1 January, which puts us on pace to exceed any previous year's number of requests. As of the end of the May drive, the backlog stood at just 156 articles, all tagged in May 2020.

Outreach: To mark the 10th anniversary of our first Backlog Elimination Drive, The Signpost contributor and GOCE participant Puddleglum2.0 interviewed project coordinators and copy-editors for the journal's April WikiProject Report. The Drive and the current Election of Coordinators have also been covered in The Signpost's May News and Notes page.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Baffle gab1978, Reidgreg, Tdslk and Twofingered Typist.

To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

Invitation to RedWarn

Hello, Peaceray! I noticed you have been using Twinkle and was wondering if you'd like to beta test my new tool, RedWarn, specifically designed to improve your editing experience.

  • Easy to use - Unlike other tools, RedWarn uses easy to interpret icons and simple summaries for common actions, reducing both learning and reading times.
  • Supports rollback and rollback-like functionality - Unlike Twinkle, RedWarn supports both rollback and rollback-like functionality for users will rollback permissions. This decreases waiting times during rollbacks.
  • Making life easier on the battlefield - Ever been in the middle of a vandalism war or campaign, frantically reloading the history page to see a new edit? No more! Enabling RedWarn's "Alert on Change" feature will automatically send you to the latest edit when a new edit occurs - and if you're working on something else, RedWarn will send you a notification while the tab is still open in the background. No time wasted.
  • Rollback previews - If you're ever worried about the changes a rollback will make, especially in the case of reverting good faith edits, you can click the rollback preview button to preview the difference a rollback will make, with the version that will be restored on the right, and the latest revision on the left.
  • Always the latest revision - RedWarn will automatically redirect you to the latest revision if the rollback is no longer for the latest revision - no more frustrating errors.

June 2020

hello, i am Videogamefan837, and i was looking at the wikipedia article when i was looking for how much value bitcoin was in 2009, but it said basically nothing, so i decided to calculate myself based on what evidence i did have, which was someone paying $27 in 2009 for 2000 bitcoins, so i calculated from their, however, since they were just calculated, i didnt have a source for my conclusions, so thats how that happened — Preceding unsigned comment added by Videogamefan837 (talkcontribs) 09:12, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi, @Videogamefan837: The extrapolation by calculation at the History of bitcoin article would constitute original research, which is counter to Wikipedia policy. It is always much better to find a citation for a value. Peaceray (talk) 17:19, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Biographies vs Autobiographies

While most of the time, we only edit other people's biographies, is it possible to do up our own? The only issue I can see is finding appropriate citations, since my history is difficult to track at times. Since I'm using a pseudonym on here, I'm not really wanting to do some of it on my wiki-editors page. Although there are people who know me by this name as well as my legal name. Howard Markel page

Hi Peaceray,

I believe your concerns regarding Howard Markel's entry have been addressed since you added the tags to his page in January, 2020. Would you be comfortable removing those tags now? While I did not write the material about which you expressed concern (re: his book The Kelloggs) I have written some material on the page and did work at the research center directed by Howard Markel from 2012 - 2015. I can declare this potential conflict wherever it is most appropriate.

If you do not feel comfortable removing the tags on his page, would you mind sharing suggestions for further edits? Thanks. WolverineHistorian (talk) 21:40, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

@WolverineHistorian: I have removed the templates. Please follow Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI to declare your potential conflict on the talk page. You might want to consider this for any University of Michigan related article that you work on going forward, given that your username reflects the U. of Michigan mascot. June 17, 7pm: ONLINE WikiWednesday Salon NYC

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our monthly "WikiWednesday" evening salon (7-8pm) and knowledge-sharing workshop. This month, as part of Wikimedia NYC's commitment to the well-being of members, we will hold WikiWednesday online via Zoom videoconferencing! To join the meeting from your computer or smartphone, just visit this link. More information about how to connect is available on the meetup page.

We look forward to seeing local Wikimedians, but would also like to invite folks from the greater New York metropolitan area (and beyond!) who might not typically be able to join us in person!

This month, we'll check in on the global WikiCup race and have as featured speaker our local champion and frontrunner, who is trying to win it by writing as many new New York City articles as possible, as well as other local and global topics.

Is there a project you'd like to share? A question you'd like answered? A Wiki* skill you'd like to learn? Let us know by adding it to the agenda.

7:00pm - 8:00 pm online via Zoom (optional breakout rooms from 8:00-8:30)

We especially encourage folks to add your 3-minute lightning talks to our roster, and otherwise join in the "open space" experience! Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues!

Help Sir

Hello Mr. Peaceray. Hope you are well during this pandemic. I was someone you helped last year when I started working on contributions on wiki. There is a situation unfolding on the Swaminarayan Sampradaya page that maybe you could help on. Some users have clearly picked one branches sources. Yesterday a couple IP addresses removed a lot of biased contents (some of which I could corroborate with independent sources and I did). Some Was not supportable so I reverted it. Now it has devolved into a undo match. I think you would be the perfect neutral party or even some guidance would be nice. I have tried to stay neutral in all this and respectful. I see merit on both sides but the BAPS side is removing anything they don't like that the IP adds and the IP is removing stuff they feel is BAPS specific. I proposed a neutral consensus/resolution. I proposed that the page remain strictly to temples, idols and scriptures created by Swaminarayan himself and it link off to each branch where that branches ideology can be outlined. That page is currently dominated by one branch, using one branches documents, in this case all Baps books, for support would violate the (Wikipedia:Neutrality of sources) policy by my understanding as they have a vested interest being one branch within the Swaminarayan family. Even from imagery, there is 10 images on that page and 7 are from BAPS and 3 specifically highlight their leader even tho the image is suppose to be something else. The IP's do raise a very valid point about this. Similarly, the IP'S posted some accusatory text, which they used a citation already being used by BAPS, which the 3 baps editors are removing saying that content "does not merit inclusion" since it is negative about them. its just endless back and forth at this point.

I feel my proposal of using only original swaminarayan sources for any claims on that page, then linking to each branch, seems like a very reasonable middle ground but literally no one is willing to talk about consensus and just undoing each other. You were an awesome guide early on and extremely helpful and respectful and knowledgeable on the topic. As well as being a veteran wiki contributor. I would appreciate any feedback. Kbhatt22 (talk) 23:35, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

@Kbhatt22: First, I am going to recommend that you look at WP:Dispute resolution requests. I have used WP:Third opinion then add your own dispute to good effect. There is also the WP:Dispute resolution noticeboard. Please see WP:Dispute resolution requests/Guide, too.
I recognize that there is urgency to this situation. Normally I might have time over the weekend to attend to a matter like this, but I am in the process of moving my residence. I will check in as I am able, but I do recommend pursuing the dispute resolution processes.
Peaceray (talk) 14:56, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
@@Peaceray: Thank you very much for the guidance and direction. Totally understandable about timing and no problem at all. I greatly appreciate the direction you have given me here. Even between my reach out yesterday to now, the page has been locked down, people are getting flagged/banned, there is dialogue spread over 5-6 different pages. A few other people are chiming in at least for mutual consensus so its not a lop sided discussion. If it continues, I will totally go down the dispute workflow you provided. I wish you all the best with the move! Thanks again! :) Kbhatt22 (talk) 15:11, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
Hey @@Peaceray:. I thought I'd just update that after about 2 weeks, I went and filled out the formal dispute form: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Dispute_resolution_noticeboard#Swaminarayan_Sampradaya I felt like I was just going in circles with the same points and no one was directly suggesting where my proposed neutral consensus would be the wrong approach. Sorry for being a burden on you like this. Hoping to follow through the 4 proposed edits in my sandbox and take a break from wiki :) Most importantly, hope the move went well!! Kbhatt22 (talk) 13:10, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
Hey @@Peaceray: I wanted to thank you for the help and direction as this all closes out. Turns out the Dispute board was resolution by consensus which I never had a chance at winning. Here is another user who contributes to Hindu pages that just went though what I did over the last 2 months. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Swaminarayan_Sampradaya&diff=973066950&oldid=973066838#Devotees_ownership
Spent a lot of time over 2 months, at one point cried over all the things being said and how exhausting it had become only to accomplish nothing. Something unethical to the Wiki contribution spirit is happening there but who knows. Nonetheless I owe you a huge thank you for the helping hand and apology for wasting you're time over any of this. Public vs. private UK schools

I don't want you to get into an edit war with Robolizik but I think that s/he is correct in their edit on Rosalind Franklin in saying that St Paul's Girls' School is a public school in the British sense — see Private school (UK) which correctly redirects to Independent school (United Kingdom). In other words, the school would have been fee-paying but like Eton College the British usually call these public schools because anyone with the cash — or a bursary — can go there. I think that the article on Franklin would be best if the lede were to be changed to "Franklin was educated at a public day school at Norland Place" or use "independent" instead of "public", which is the modern word that St Paul's Girls' School itself now uses. If you don't make that change I will do so soon. Michael D. Turnbull (talk) 11:23, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

@Michael D. Turnbull and Robolizik: Laura Anderson's Rosalind Franklin. states "Rosalind attended a private school in London called Norland Place." & "Her parents sent her to a boarding school on the Coast of England called Lindores School for Young Ladies." Jenifer Glynn in My Sister Rosalind Franklin. states "When she was nine Roaslind left Norland Place, the private day school nearby, and was sent for a couple of years to Lindores, a boarding school in Sussex, [...]". I think private is correct, at least for those two. Peaceray (talk) 14:52, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
Looking at this again, I think we may all be correct, depending on one's use of language. Franklin attended 3 schools (see body of the article). At age 6 she went to the Norland Place school, whose website now "doesn't mention her (or any pupil) in history section". but does emphasise large fees (now over £5,000 a term). Then she went, aged 9, to the Lindores school. Finally, aged 11 she went to St Paul's Girls' School whose website "does mention Franklin".. The issue is therefore whether the lede should be consistent about fee-paying. If Norland was "private", St Paul's is "private" also and arguably more important since this was Franklin's senior school. I'm happy to let you decide whether a bit of re-wording would improve the article. Michael D. Turnbull (talk) 16:17, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
St Paul's Girls' School is the epitome of a Public school (United Kingdom), but nobody outside the UK groks that Public schools are more exclusive than Private schools, and clarity for the reader is our primary objective, so... Cabayi (talk) 19:51, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
Maybe a note to explain would help. I will peruse the various sources for more clarity. This is a problem with editors, myself included, who are US-based & are accustomed to US English (& went to the US variant of parochial, private, & public schools). At least I know which variant to use with {{Use British English}}. Peaceray (talk) 20:43, 6 September 2020 (UTC)

Old account

I created my Wikipedia account in 2018 and got it banned from editing for stupid jokes I made. I would like to make a new account, but I want to be able to edit. Thanks in advance!

@100.10.41.202: You should be able to create a new account. Just avoid being blocked by adhering to Wikipedia policies & guidelines. Peaceray (talk) 23:22, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
@100.10.41.202: It's far better to appeal the block on your original account. If you edit articles you've edited under your original account, and somebody makes the connection between the two accounts, you'd be looking at having both accounts blocked for evading the original block. Just my 2¢ since I'm on this page at the moment. Cabayi (talk) 20:03, 6 September 2020 (UTC)

Page mover granted

Hello, Peaceray. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Cabayi (talk) 19:58, 6 September 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Use shortened footenotes from May 2020

A tag has been placed on Category:Use shortened footenotes from May 2020 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Liz Read! Talk! 14:20, 14 September 2020 (UTC)

@Liz and Pppery: Please delete Category:Use shortened footenotes from May 2020 at the earliest oppurtunity. I created by mistake using a misspelling of the word "footnote". I have created the category under the correct spelling. As I wrote in my edit summary that blanked it, "please delete". Peaceray (talk) 14:56, 14 September 2020 (UTC)

Self-citation

Hello, you left a comment on my talk page to remind me that " A conflict of interest includes linking to articles that you have written." I just want to say that I'm not aiming bare self-promotion. I'm about to add information to the Hawaiian language article on the history of language policies in Hawaii and I assumed it was OK citing my own work given that I did a lot of research on the topic for my MA degree at the University of Hawaii, especially since nobody else has researched it yet, as far as I was told there by professors. I merely wanted to start by adding my publications to the reference list before editing the article and quote them in the most concise way. Also, I have no other conflict of interests. I'm not paid by anyone to do these edits.

Besides, do you have any advice about how to proceed to add this information? Is it OK to edit the page itself or should I start the changes in the article's Talk page? --Rubèn Fernández Asensio (talk) 15:05, 14 September 2020 (UTC)

@Rubèn Fernández Asensio: I well may have been overdoing it with the COI notification. I think as long as you adhere to WP:SELFCITE & maybe add a note to the talk page that you are the author, the article is in a peer-reviewed journal, & that it is relevant to the topic, you should be fine. We do see a lot of WP:CITESPAM on particular topics. Language articles tends not to be one of them. You might add that you are adding the note upon my advice discussing it with me (After discussing it with {{u|Peaceray}}, ..."). That should show due diligence. Not that I am an arbiter, but I have a significant amount of edits to my credit.
Although I would like it that experts hold sway, this is not always the case. For instance:

Guild of Copy Editors September 2020 Newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors September 2020 Newsletter

Hello and welcome to the September GOCE newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since June 2020.

                 Current and upcoming events

September Drive: Our current backlog-elimination drive is open until 23:59 on 30 September (UTC) and is open to all copy editors. Sign up today!

Election reminder: our end-of-year Election of Coordinators opens for nominations on 1 December. Coordinators normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought of helping out at the Guild, or know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here.

Drive and Blitz reports

June Blitz: An uncorrected typo (even copy editors make copy editing mistakes!) led to an eight-day "leap blitz" from 14 to 21 June, focusing on requests and articles tagged in May. 19 participating editors claimed 54 copy edits. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

July Drive: Over 750,000 words of articles were copy edited for this event, keeping pace with the previous three self-isolated drives. Of the 38 people who signed up, 30 copyedited at least one article. Final results and awards are listed here.

August Blitz: From 16 to 22 August, we copy edited articles tagged in June and July 2020 and requests. 12 participating editors completed 37 copy edits on the blitz. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Other news

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Guidance on edit war message on talk page

Hello! I just wanted to get your advice regarding when it is proper to remove messages on my talk page and I went to you because you welcomed me to Wikipedia back in 2016. In 2016, I got into an edit war that thankfully did not get out of hand and a message from a (now-retired) senior user reminded me of the possible repercussions of edit warring. The message has remained on my talk page ever since. I was wondering what your opinion would be regarding if I were to remove this message and whether that would violate any of Wikipedia's etiquette guidelines.

Sdrqaz (talk) 18:54, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

@Sdrqaz: Hi! WP:OWNTALK would apply here. As that behavioral guideline indicates, Although archiving is preferred, users may freely remove comments from their own talk pages. Users may also remove some content in archiving. The removal of a warning is taken as evidence that the warning has been read by the user.
I prefer archiving myself (see Help:Archiving a talk page). Archiving would get your aforementioned discussion off of your current talk page. However, you are free to simply delete it. Peaceray (talk) 04:46, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
@Peaceray: Thank you for your advice and information! I'll take it into account when making my decision.

Thanks for help!

Appreciate it. ABeeez (talk) 02:48, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

Dear Peaceray,

Thank you for your welcome. I am fairly new at participating in Wikipedia. I like to read and study a lot (maybe too much!) and am a bit of a perfectionist. I try always try be open to new information. You saw my contribution to 'Spanish flu' talk. I tried to add something to that today, but it wouldn't let me login to edit my previous writing. I was able to add the new information as a separate reply.

I wonder if I accidently inserted this (<ref></ref>) into the page, because I notice there is now a citation error tagged.

Thanks again for your help. You can write me directly, if you want. David

P.S. Oh,oh...! I think I did add the erroneous "<ref></ref>" when I tried to edit the Talk page for the first time. And worse, I screwed up the Talk article I was commenting on. I thought I had to reproduce the whole article when I added something, and I repasted the wiki page as text only, thus zeroing out all the previous links! I hope you have a backup of the page!

This is what I screwed up: "Most influenza outbreaks disproportionately kill the very young and the very old, with a higher survival rate for those in between, but the Spanish flu pandemic resulted in a higher than expected mortality rate for young adults.[4] Scientists offer several possible explanations for the high mortality rate of the 1918 influenza pandemic. Some analyses have shown the virus to be particularly deadly because it triggers a cytokine storm, which ravages the stronger immune system of young adults.[5] In contrast, a 2007 analysis of medical journals from the period of the pandemic found that the viral infection was no more aggressive than previous influenza strains.[6][7] Instead, malnourishment, overcrowded medical camps and hospitals, and poor hygiene promoted secondary bacterial infection. These infections killed most of the victims, typically after a somewhat prolonged death bed.[8][9] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pbvet007 (talkcontribs) "

The ref tags are just before this section.

I apologise, and will do it correctly next time I add to a Talk page… I hope!

P.S. I wanted to fix my mistake, so I tried to go back to the original revision on April 24 using Page History, but it only displayed my recent revision, in green, and not the section as it was originally inserted. That seems odd for a revision history page. I hope there is a backup of the original page.

@Deardavid7: No problems, just learning opportunities. The main thing that I was trying to indicate was that it is customery to sighn your posts on a talk page, normally by placing four tildes, ~~~~, after your comment.
Also, no need to put your email on pages. If you have associated your email with your account for password reset purposes, people can email you from this page: Special:EmailUser/Deardavid7, which others can navigate to when they see the Email this user link on your talk page.

Medical editing initiative

Thanks for touching base with a few of our students. We do not require additional training resources at this time posted to student talk pages as we are not using the WikiEdu platform. We prefer to streamline the learning materials and have them specific to medicine) and already share many excellent resources by WikiEdu. Our project page is here if you are interested. Thanks again! JenOttawa (talk) 22:34, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

I meant to add, if you have any suggestions as well for improving our model, we always appreciate them. Please leave a message on my talk page to email me directly. I shared this project on WP:MED just now as well. Transitioning to zoom teaching is a challenge, but our Wiki skills session went well today. Take good care! JenOttawa (talk) 22:38, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
@JenOttawa: OK, thanks for letting me know! I do a lot of recent change patrolling of the 5,000+ pages on my watchlist. One of the things that I look for is registered users with a red-linked (non-existant) talk page. I like to invite newly registered users with the {{Welcome-menu}}, which IMHO serves as a handy collection of links for most of what one would want to know about English Wikipedia & how it works.
Because I am looking to correct vandalism, welcome new editors, notify or warn editors when they make mistakes, & make incremental improvements to new edits, I do not typically do not drill down into school project pages, as I make lots of semi-automated edits with RedWarn, Twinkle, & reFill. I appreciate that you have let me know about yours, & I particularly like that you have emphasized WP:MEDRS & related pages. Forgive me if I stepped on any toes with my semi-automated editing. Although there are many wonderful school Wikipedia editing project, there are some in which the students are relatively unsupported; hence the reason I sometimes include the {{Welcome student}} template when I have seen a previously blank talk page for a student editor. My goal is to be quick & welcoming, although sometimes I recognize that my actions be redundant or superfluous.
The best way to avoid recent change patrol editors like myself from inadvertently getting in your way might be to craft your project's own welcoming message & post it to student editor talk pages. This would also alert editors such as myself that you got this covered. Peaceray (talk) 00:22, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response. It is no problem at all that you reached out to the student. It is great to know there are volunteers welcoming new editors! I just meant if you saw the dashboard and worked through all the 110 students that it is not necessary! That is great advice you have to include a template on their talk page. I manually added a student template on their user page and sandbox but not their talk page! I agree about your observations on student editing. It is very labour intensive to monitor all edits, but I think it is super important to leave the article contributions high-quality and following Wikipedia's guideline for reliable sources and the manual of style. Many medical professionals/researchers have difficulty transitioning to MEDRS as we have been trained to use the primary sources when writing academic papers. It is my goal that some of these students will enjoy this and stick around to help us! Thanks again. It was nice to meet you on Wikipedia! JenOttawa (talk) 02:50, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:28, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Requested edit to Salma Hayek

Hello! I saw you edited the Salma Hayek page last. I cannot edited it since I am not verified. I have a video that proves that Salma acquired the Lebanese citizenship through her father in the Lebanese Embassy of Mexico in 2009. The video is in Arabic, but it shows that her grandfather, who emigrated from Lebanon, registered her son, Salma's father in the embassy, and then Salma registered herself and acquired the citizenship later in 2009. Her family is entirely registered in the village of Baabdat in Mount Lebanon, including her brother. Therefore she is also Lebanese. Here's the link: https://youtube/KQS4YJe6IrI The research was done when she came to Lebanon in 2015 to promote her movie The Prophet. Please do the necessary changes to the page :D Thanks a lot! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.97.92.117 (talk) 14:39, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Airbnb/Aimco

Hi Graywalls, thanks for your comments - I've been more active on the German Wikipedia (see https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spezial:Beiträge/Hattifnatt~dewiki), and to be honest, the technicalities of Wikipedia habe grown over my head a bit in the last years ;) but I still try to contribute when I see reason for it. In this case the mention of Aimco seemed to me like a thinly veiled attempt at self-promotion or even self-advocacy (with unclear grammar), so more a COI on their part, after they apparently even lost the case in court if I correctly understood the referenced page https://www.courthousenews.com/airbnb-ducks-apartment-managers-beef-over-rentals/. I haven't been able to locate the crucial change, but the version from 21 Nov 2018 had a more balanced account in the section "2018 legal action".

Edit: Found it, after the reference to Aimco and the legal case had been removed by this change: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Airbnb&diff=next&oldid=893527008 it was re-introduced (with worse grammar and a bias for Aimco) in this edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Airbnb&diff=prev&oldid=988930279

"UK citizen"

Please continue any further discussion at Talk:Helen Smith (nurse)#UK citizenship & refrain from using this talk page for general discussion. See WP:TALK for more information.
The following discussion has been closed by Peaceray. Please do not modify it.

The government style guide states: website deals with "British citizenship". [178]. The older usages were "British subject". GPinkerton (talk) 06:36, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

@GPinkerton: https://www.gov.uk/browse/citizenship/citizenship represents the current situation. I am aware about British subjects. In the entire time that Helen Smith (nurse) lived (3 January 1956 – 20 May 1979), the British Nationality Act 1948 applied to her. The British Nationality Act 1948 was in force until the British Nationality Act 1981 took effect, two years after Smith's death. According to the British Nationality Act 1948 article, that act created the status of "Citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies" (CUKC) as the national citizenship of the United Kingdom and its colonies.
Please explain to me then, how Helen Smith was not a UK citizen at the time. Peaceray (talk) 06:52, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
Peaceray, citizens of the UK are called British citizens. Under the 1948 British Nationality Act, "British Nationality" was defined as belonging to all such citizens, and all citizens of British dependencies, and all such British nationals were British subjects by virtue of having that citizenship. In all cases, then and now, the adjective for UK has always been "British", that has never changed. GPinkerton (talk) 07:02, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
You and I have different readings of the British Nationality Act article. I also see in British subject that Between 1949 and 1983, the term was synonymous with Commonwealth citizen. It seems that there may be an inexactness of language, but it also seems clear to me from the British Nationality Act article, that UK Citizen is as accurate as anything else.
As per WP:BRD, please open a discussion on Talk:Helen Smith (nurse) before attempting this change again. Peaceray (talk) 07:14, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
Peaceray, neither the article 1948 British Nationality Act nor the Act itself use the form "UK citizen" and neither does the government. Where have you read it? GPinkerton (talk) 07:16, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
@GPinkerton: "Citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies" is in the lead sentence of 1948 British Nationality Act. Unless you want to change "UK citizen" to "Citizen of the United Kingdom" in Helen Smith (nurse), take all future discussion to the article talk page.

Good for you to say love always an unimportant ip address

Remember even if you delete this it will be archived and viewable by everyone including the administrators. Have a blessed day. Ciao — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:7610:41E0:CD12:123A:B908:BE89 (talk) 18:04, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

I believe you are referring to these edits. I think it is good that we both have an understanding that past history is always visible unless redacted by an administrator. Unless an editor has maliciously deleted or altered others comments, I always leave what is posted on my talk page, although other editors have removed posts that they have deemed against policy, such as insults or threats. I may also move it to the proper place it the placement of the comment does not follow WP:TPG.
I do not believe that there are unimportant IP addresses. Most edits from IP addresses are good edits. I have also met a couple of significant editors who say that there very first edit was vandalism before they learned how to make worthwhile contributions. That is why I make it my policy to welcome IP editors as appropriate. Peaceray (talk) 19:48, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
I will note that I have made an exception to my general "no delete" policy. I recently encountered someone who I believe is described by the meta:What is a troll? essay. From that essay, I take this summary: The basic mindset of a troll is that they are far more interested in how others react to their edits than in the usual concerns of Wikipedians: accuracy, veracity, comprehensiveness, and overall quality. I have indicated to this editor that I will no longer permit their future posts on this page. Peaceray (talk) 23:00, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Discussion between Bennybooboo78 & myself

I have archived this conversation. Bennybooboo78 alleges here at length that I am "nasty", & have "no right serving in this position", a "lack of ego control" & "blatent ignorance", & etc. I try to explain that Bennybooboo78 should follow the five pillars & the policies & guidelines that derive from them, particularly the necessity of verification from reliable sources. I also suggest that using Wiki markup might help Bennybooboo78's presentation. Neither of us convinces the other. For something more substantial, please see Talk:Peter Kropotkin#I'm new to this.

I'm wondering if you believe everything you read on the internet without actually reading the source material. A google search is not going to give you an in depth understanding of the material. Granted Kropotkin's opinions evolved and adapted to current situations to continue to push his narrative, some basic things cannot be avoided: such as how can anyone in there objective right mind think that Kropotkin was for globalization and propaganda of the deed (short of maybe regicide) after reading Mutual Aid? if so, they must need some reading comprehension training. I don't care if Professor so and so, wants to say I'm interpreting it wrong! they can take a hike, and so I think Kropotkin would have agreed that a full reliance on an over arching knowledge source or base (of which you only pull from, and do not contribute or investigate yourself is laughable). It is even stated in your own article (before I added anything at all), that he took his ideas of TRUE COMMUNISM from small tribal communities in Siberia (would you call that Marxist or Communist in the Modern sense?) Communism today is not what it was yesterday (let alone centuries ago?) Marxism is specifically addressing modern systems of organization (that are huge), there is no advocation towards the hunter-gatherer lifestyle or mention there of? The newspeak people are hard at work, rewriting traditional interpretations to fit their agenda; I guess old Kropotkin has come on the radar sometime after 2015 when I attended UC as an Anthropology major and did extensive research on his works and contributions (example being I don't remember anyone claiming that Kropotkin advocated violence, his writings repeatedly speak against it but, now everyone is saying he is no different then Emma Goldman?) and I bet not one of these clowns has read a single book of his...have you? Just because he coined the term Anarcho-Communism in "The Conquest of Bread" doesn't mean that his ideas haven't been hijacked? he was referring to True Communism (which is only possible at the tribal level, do some anthropological research on the matter and you will see) not Modern communism that is contingent on large scale applications-thus defeating Kropotkins whole aim! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bennybooboo78 (talkcontribs) 00:40, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Comment in reference to Peter Kropotkin's Wiki page and the evolution of what he meant by Anarcho-Communism then, as to how it is being interpreted now.Bennybooboo78 (talk) 00:57, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

@Bennybooboo78: I am wondering if you even pay attention to messages that others post on your talk page. I have asked you twice to discuss it at the talk page. That would be located at Talk:Peter Kropotkin since you have not found your way there yet.
Your second edit took out {{short description}} & {{redirect}} templates. The edit summary of your third edit disparaged & insulted Roller26, which was a violation of Wikipedia's civility policy. You failed to include any citation until your eleventh edit, & then you interpreted a primary source. You have been in violation of Wikipedia's content policies of no original research & verifiability. Your tenth & eleventh edits occurred after I asked you to take it to the talk page for discussion, which is how we handle dispute resolution & arrive at consensus. Trying to impose one's opinions after being reverted is what is known as edit warring & a quick path to getting blocked. Please take a breath & acquaint yourself with how things are done here. That is the best way to get your edits to stick.
I know I am not an expert at what communism is, although I know that there were flavors that existed before Marx (see Christian communism & Oneida community, for example). However, I believe of the 685 editors of the Kropotkin, there are at least a few who know quite a bit about the subject. State your case on the talk page so that some of the subject matter experts can weigh in. We should not abandon edit consensus, AKA implicit consensus, so lightly, particularly when one has been asked to verify one's original research.
You have asked me to consider your opinion over Encyclopedia Britannica. Please make your case for it, with citations from reliable sources, at Talk:Peter Kropotkin. Peaceray (talk) 01:30, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

I don't see it that way.

I responded to Roller26, thinking you and him were maybe the same person. After a response from him, right after you withheld my comments (in my opinion without asking a reputable source directly, as to the applicability of my additions-that offends me, as well as scares me). I did not feel that I was being insulting, only honest about my convictions, which I felt were being unfairly disregarded. Let me ask you, as an admitted layperson on the subject? how is it that I should take it seriously that after only a google search that lead you to the Brittanica, with its quick and lacking overview of the subject or its historical progression, how should that make me feel comfortable with your arbitration? Not, very good since The Encyclopedia Brittanica must be interpreted though accurate knowledge of the subject? and its history, again. This is a major problem with the internet, twitter style investigation into truth...and moderators playing god. Now, I'm not insulting you just expressing my opinion-which last time I checked I could still do. I'd respond to you directly-but don't see a link to do so? I'm not asking you to take my word over the Brittanica! (red herring) But, I am suggesting that to fill this position fairly you must be educated personally about which you judge? read the books, understand the application of his words today as compared to yesterday-personal direct self knowledge on the matter...don't just read the Brittannica without any knowledge of the context. Furthermore! anyone who is honest with themselves knows that everything we think is an opinion in one form or the other-this would only be untrue if everyone thought exactly the same...so, sorry don't buy that one. That is a problem with wiki though, not just yours as I imagine you are just following orders? and yes I am a newbie to commenting or editing on this site, sorry I didn't take to it like a duck to water, as you suggest I should have-no, that's not insulting at all is it? Bennybooboo78 (talk) 03:04, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

@Bennybooboo78: Let me put this bluntly. Citations talk, opinions walk. You can argue all night & all day for weeks on end, but if you do not have the reliable sources to back you, it is just original research.
Second, I have been a part-time reference librarian. I can recognize an argument that is not grounded in reliable sources. If you are a subject matter expert, I doubt that you will have trouble finding reliable sources to support your arguments.
You may not see it that way, but I almost always cite Wikipedia policy. I follow no one's orders, but I do heed policy. I also respect the be bold editing guideline & the fifth pillar: Wikipedia has no firm rules. But this is not pandemonium either. To be an organized anarchy demands respect of consensus, & thus I expect other editors to respect Wikipedia's five pillars & the policies & guidelines. If you do not consent to abide by these, you are free to follow the Law of two feet & take your efforts elsewhere. Really, though, we would prefer that you learn how to be respectful of the space & become a constructive contributor.
One last think: you should always sign your comments on talk pages by placing four tildes at the end, as in ~~~~. This will provide a link to your user page, your user talk page, & a timestamp. Peaceray (talk) 04:40, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

LOL

You are a nasty little man? aren't you...and have no right serving in this position. Animosity and venom do not make your case either, maybe a call to corporate is in order? and being a librarian only reinforces my ideas about your lack of ego control and understanding of academic blind spots, I'm not one of your timid little students that will break under your inflated sense of importance. Look...your comments have made it fairly obvious that linguistics is not your strong point. Check out Terence Mckenna and some of his explanations about how we get caught up on words, when we are actually only using words to explain MEANING? The fact that you are still only looking for key words such as Communism and Primitivism, without focusing on the concepts and its history shows me that you are unwilling to simply look into the matter for yourself to understand these things...in my book this is blatant ignorance and makes me feel sorry for Wiki. By the way, any college student knows that 9 out of 10 professors will not accept wiki as a resource, probably has something to do with their lack of authority on anything past the surface. Also, the reason I attached the Gould article was to point out context. Being that Kropotkin was formulating his ideas within a rural atmosphere (such as his ideas towards communism), that he dreamed would become more rural-not more urban or civilized in its western sense, as it was understood in the 19th century construct, let alone the 20th or 21st-his viewpoints must be put in this framework...my God what more reference do you need then his own writings, you keep saying show references well how is HIS work not enough reference, are you telling me that the orthodoxy or academia and their interpretations are the only ones that count? that personal understanding is meaningless? Do I need to write a book about it in Graduate Studies and have them sign off on it for you to take me seriously? (sounds a bit like the church during the middle ages? with their ideas that the only way to Jesus is through them?). You are right, I'm barking up the wrong tree and I'm not surprised that you keep saying I have to go through proper channels (do I), obviously you are wrong because here I am reaching the masses directly (short of your interference, as the gate keeper of truth). You will learn little man, as will the rest of the Prima donna's that we are taking back our birthright which is direct knowledge...not filtered down from the likes of you-now you can block me? Bennybooboo78 (talk) 13:32, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

I do not think you understand anarchy. Let me give you a concrete example from the Rainbow Gathering, which has no leaders, that occurred in Michigan in 1983. Someone moved into a peripheral camp & proceeded to dig a latrine across a path & near tents. Other campers filled the latrine & persuaded that camper that they might do better in a more established camp. When other campers moved in, the original campers initially tried to discourage them (once bitten, ...) but ultimately welcomed them when they realized that those new campers knew what they were doing & chipped in.
The lesson is don't dig a latrine in the middle of a path, & if someone else does, fill it in. That is essentially the same on Wikipedia. Don't edit to the detriment of Wikipedia (detriment as defined in pillars, policies, guidelines, & common sense), & if someone does, fix it.
Depending on whether a page has a level of protection, any editor can revert another editor's edits. If the reversion is not based in policy, those reversions can be challenged. If the edits themselves are non-constructive or against policies & guidelines, then it it is incumbent on editors to revert them.
I am not an administrator, so I cannot block anyone. However, other editors & myself can warn other editors about non-constructive edits or policy & guideline violations. After an accumulation of warnings, an admin will review those warnings & edits, & can block an individual for a day or longer or indefinitely, or the admin may decide a block is unwarranted. A blocked editor can appeal a block, & other administrators would generally weigh in.
I, myself, do not advise anyone to use Wikipedia in citations unless they are specifically addressing Wikipedia. I do advise people to treat Wikipedia as an introduction to the material, & to dig into the citations if they want to research more. Hence the importance of references.
I have continued to ask you to supply references. You have only responded vaguely, writing that I should read a nearly 200 page book. You also write as if you are the expert & should be taken unquestionably as such. That is not how citations work. They usually point at a specific pages. The lack of this information often makes a reader dubious of the writer's familiarity with a work.
Please address your proposed edits to Peter Kropotkin at Talk:Peter Kropotkin. I will not address changes to that article further here. Peaceray (talk) 17:01, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

I never said I was an expert, rather that I trust my reading comprehension. As for your anecdotes well, that's all they are and hold no water to me-way to be condescending. You know as well as I do that even brothers in arms (within whatever group rarely agree on everything) so what Anarchy is? is as I have been saying up to individual understanding (I can't help but to think that Kropotkin would agree with me whole heartedly). And yes, I was unfamiliar with how wiki edits works (I thought maybe it was free access, I suppose I was wrong), I assumed I'd be dealing with a moderator who actually had an personal argument based on the readings of the situation to hash it out. Let me ask you? Should I take my car to your mechanic's shop if you don't know what an upper A-arm bushing is...my, answer is most definitely not. So, why would wiki have someone passing judgement over which argument to agree with (when there are always multiple, even amongst experts). I'm more disappointed with how wiki is being run, rather than insisting that you take my argument over Academic Consensus (which rarely ever exists, truly in a pure sense). I've got an anecdote, for you...when I was in school I pretty much had to circumvent the TA's (who were almost always in charge of grading, being Grad Students and learning how to teach properly) constantly-I must have gone to the Professor's personal office a dozen times (twelve different Professors) to make my case, that I was at a disservice being graded by people that did not have the knowledge base to do so-past the basic motions that they were using on their rubric. I was told a lot of this had to do with the fact that on top of being woefully uniformed (since they had no knowledge of the material I was referring too, being I added a lot of my own understanding past the assigned text-though it applied spot on) they also had to skim through the papers, so as to get through them all. How is this fair, sacrificing understanding for efficiency or agenda? every time I went to the Professor I was vindicated...every time. I have the same feeling here, I will concede one thing though-at this moment, I'm not finding any direct assertation backing up my claim-but it seemed to be taken for granted when I researched the matter in 2015, that is his concepts (I thought) were set in stone, not specifically the label Anarcho-Primitive; the word didn't exist during his time, but the concept did (because it is right in your face, after reading his work-which no! I haven't read everything from him-but he sort of repeats his basic ideas over and over book to book, anyways). All you need to read is Mutual Aid, and the Conquest of Bread! that's it? I have yet to hear anyone with a strong knowledge base on the subject (let alone someone who has read anything from him) attempt to debunk what I'm saying-past its not accepted orthodox consensus; how about you show me a reference for that and make your case? I think it might be, that no one has taken the time to point out these obvious issues, in concern to parsing out what people today interpret as Communism as compared to how Russians in the 19th century viewed communism, with a lower case c-let alone Kropotkin's individual understanding. I'm only calling for context, because it seems it would be confusing to the layperson (I'd gather) when we think of Communism now! in connection to the Anarcho-Communist. I'll bet money a lot of people read this wiki page and think he was sympathetic to modern notions of Marxism etc.? though even amongst Marxist's they are always arguing over what he actually meant-there is no real consensus there either only submission. So, my only solution to that is know for yourself...that to me is Anarchism. P.S all I had to do was look at your pictures (I like the Beret) to not be surprised that you would bring up the Rainbow Family? most people do hang their Identity on their sleeves, but some times it's better to not give yourself away.Bennybooboo78 (talk) 18:25, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

I think your formatting would be helped by reading Help:Wikitext. Peaceray (talk) 18:31, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

You guys are all the same!

I can read you so easily, god. Another anecdote, when I basically confronted some of these TA's directly-they never had a rebuttal for what I was saying? only that my format was wrong or syntax was another one etc. It bothered me enough that I went to a linguist professor (on his personal time) to get his opinion...he told me that those who brought up these complaints were invalidated in his opinion (go tell James Joyce about format and syntax, he would throw Finnegan's Wake in your face?) that is what editors are for? that was a pitiful red herring/ad hominem. How about you address the subject matter and not its structure? by the way, I never once went to the writing tutor-everyone hated me there and I still got a 3.37 GPA average...explain that?

I've made my case, hopefully you (or whoever) won't bury my comments and these points will hopefully be taken seriously by someone you will listen to.Bennybooboo78 (talk) 19:22, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Frankly, I find your repeated assertions that you have expertise to be self-important, tedious, & unconvincing. To accuse me of being condescending then turn around & do it yourself is hypocritical, & I have little time for that.
I find GPAs irrelevant, as they failed to measure my extra-curricular learning for my BA (2.7) but nevertheless I obtained a 3.9 for my MS. So one was not a great predictor for the other. BTW, I have read Finnegan's Wake.
I suggested that you would benefit from H:WIKITEXT because big blobs of text generally are hard to read & interfere with your message. If you would rather not read a map & stumble around not knowing the geography, be my guest, but do not expect the respect you demand.
I think you would be best to address your arguments with relevant citations at Talk:Peter Kropotkin. I will revert further comment from you here as a favor to future readers of this talk page, as I now find your words unimportant & do not hear them. Do not worry about any impermanence; anything that you post will be available in the history, although I think most will have no interest. Peaceray (talk) 19:55, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
