Article Feedback Tool office hours
Hey Reaper Eternal/Archive 15; just a quick note to let you know that we'll be holding an Office Hours session at 18:00 UTC (don't worry, I got the time right ;p) on 4th May in #wikimedia-office. This is to show off the almost-finished feedback page and prep it for a more public release; I'm incredibly happy to have got to this point :). Hope to see you there! My RFA
Hi, I just wanted to leave a note saying thank you for partcipating in my RFA, and your comments will be taken on board and acted upon. Hopfully, I will be of a level you can support in a future RFA. MrLittleIrish (talk) © 13:14, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

- @Sturmde: Take it up with DragonflySixtyseven (talk · contribs) about his edit through full protection, or raise it on WP:ANI. Personally, I think his edit has some merit if he thought that the paragraph was misrepresenting sources. Reaper Eternal (talk) 01:30, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
Vandalism only account
Hi. You blocked this account before. See if you think it's time to do so again: User talk:70.88.101.211. All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 01:26, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, that is an IP address, not a vandalism-only account. Generally, it is best to report vandalizing users to WP:AIV, since I might not see the message for 12+ hours. At AIV, the vandal will normally get blocked within 5 minutes. Cheers! Reaper Eternal (talk) 01:44, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Need an edit filter manager to look at a false positive
I was doing some looking at the edit filter false positive page and found this report that appears to be a true false positive. Can you look at the filter code for me and see what caused the error? Hghyux (talk to me)(talk to others) 01:58, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Syrian Uprising Page
The common users who edit the The Syrian uprising page have came to unanimous consensus that the Syrian uprising (2011-present) page and its talk should be protected. I was wondering if you could administer the protection template. Sopher99 (talk) 00:49, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Syrian_uprising_(2011–present)#RFP_.3F
- I really don't see the level of disruption necessary to protect the article. Additionally, the talk page wouldn't be protected because that runs counter to the protection policy. Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:39, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Hey! I like your comment on his RFA. I'm thinking of listing him at ANI for death threats and adding <!-- DASHbot is a idiot--> or something to his sandbox, also for the multiple fair use image issues there. Should I? --Tomtomn00 (talk • contributions) 19:31, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- No. The death threat was a while ago and obviously unactioned. Adding insulting comments to bots in his own sandbox isn't that much of an issue. The fair use issues have also been resolved. Reaper Eternal (talk) 19:35, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Guild of Copy Editors May 2012 backlog elimination drive mid-drive newsletter
Participation: Out of 49 people signed up for this drive so far, 26 have copy-edited at least one article. It's a smaller group than last drive, but we're making good progress. If you've signed up but haven't yet copy-edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us! Progress report: We're on track to meet our targets for the drive, largely due to the efforts of Lfstevens and the others on the leaderboard. Thanks to all. We have reduced our target group of articles—January, February, and March 2011—by over half, and it looks like we will achieve that goal. Good progress is being made on the overall backlog as well, with over 500 articles copy-edited during the drive so far. The total backlog currently sits at around 3200 articles. Hall of Fame: GOCE coordinator Diannaa was awarded a spot in the GOCE Hall of Fame this month! Unblock requests and filters
heya, I see you're a filter creating kinda guy -- do we need a filter, and can we use a filter, to catch things like User talk:Dfleck? (an unblock-auto with blank params). Or does that just want template editing? We've been getting dozens of these in the last couple of days. I've not seen any useful patterns in the IPs being used. Odd annoying vandalism. --jpgordon::==( o ) 00:30, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Edit filter/Requested is where this could go.--Jasper Deng (talk) 00:33, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- I don't think we want to disallow these edits, since they may be caused by inexperienced users or bugs. It shouldn't be too hard to modify Template:Unblock-auto to warn the user that his unblock request cannot be processed unless he gives the requisite information. That said, there may be a bug with this, so I'm going to test it. Reaper Eternal (talk) 00:47, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- It doesn't seem to be a bug—the autoblock notice popped up correctly on my alternate account. As an aside, I found that admins cannot be autoblocked. Reaper Eternal (talk) 12:30, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- OK, I've started seeing a ton of these requests. I think the software may actually be getting screwed up and displaying a bunch of $#'s to people. Reaper Eternal (talk) 21:06, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Has any legit user had the problem? So far, none of them I've seen has actually been blocked or been subject to an autoblock. --jpgordon::==( o ) 23:04, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- No. Commonly, it's the user's first edit. When I checked as mentioned above, the autoblock notice displayed correctly. A global block may be causing issues, however. Reaper Eternal (talk) 01:28, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Complaint about Ridernyc
I've come to the opinion that Ridernyc seems to come to rash decisions on a whim not objective one's.Having these on his User:Ridernyc sort of confirms this " This user reverts vandalism in the blink of an eye with Twinkle! " / " This user is the boss of Wikipedia " - his reply " The articles are not subject to delection, the debate supports keeping. P.S. do not threaten me sucka. Removing all the tags again. P.S. show me where you are the boss of Wikipedia? Can you do that? RBLakes 09:55, 17 October 2007 (UTC)./ " This user page has been vandalized 29 times " - seems very popular :-S.This user does not like GENRE WARRIORS " - seems like one himself from the, admittedly brief contact I've had with him.Not a person you can seem to reason with - as he says " he's the boss of Wikipedia " - that may be tongue in cheek but not the type of thing I'd expect an editor of Wikipedia to have on his user page. He seems like a very confrontational character to me. Perhaps I'm wrong but felt the urge to express my opinion to you as you seem to be a far more objective person than he is.Please could you pass my complaint on the relevent page as I'm not to sure how to do so myself() Scratchy7929 16:21, 23 May 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scratchy7929 (talk • contribs) 16:10, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Soil Warrior page deletion
I see that you deleted the page I created about the Soil Warrior. It is not in any way an advertisement, simply a definition of sorts of a piece of tillage equipment. Please allow me to keep the wikipedia page or tell me specifically what I need to change so that it cannot be misinterpreted as an advertisement. Wideopenthinking (talk) 15:15, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- The tone of the writing was completely inappropriate for Wikipedia (see WP:NPOV and WP:ADVERT for more information). For example, you wrote, "...that will save you money and time in the long run." and , which isn't exactly a neutral description of the tiller. On the other hand, when you wrote "The Soil Warrior can reach depths of up to 20” and can be configured up to 24 rows. It contains parallel linkage...", you were accurately and neutrally describing the tiller. If you would like, I can restore the page to a sandbox for you to rewrite into a more appropriate tone—not one that sounds like a company press release. However, upon further review, the tiller does not seem to be notable. Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:50, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Objection to speedy deletion of Tamara Brooks
Dear Reaper Eternal,
I am writing to object to Ridernyc's speedy deletion of Tamara Brooks. Tamara Brooks was one of the most important female conductors and one of the most important choral conductors of her time. It was surprising to me to read the questioning of her "importance" when the article clearly demonstrated her widespread international repute. See also here: http://necmusic.edu/tamara-brooks-1941-2012
Note also that A7 was given as the reason for deletion. However, A7 itself states why the deletion was in error: It is irrelevant whether the claim of notability within the article is not sufficient for the notability guidelines. If the claim is credible, the A7 tag can not be applied. Often what seems non-notable to a new page patroller is shown to be notable in a deletion discussion. A7 was wrongfully applied.
I strongly object to this deletion. LeonardoCiampa (talk) 11:27, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- I never deleted that page. As you can see here, RHaworth (talk · contribs) deleted it. Additionally, I see that it has been restored. Good luck! Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:35, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
Objection to speedy deletion of David Amerland
Dear Reaper Eternal,
Hi. I am a little new to this so I am not sure how to go about it completely. I followed the guidelines (I hope) in creating the living authors page for David Amerland (I recently read one hf his books) and I tracked down sources where he is mentioned or interviewed. I had a look at a couple of other living author pages to see how much detail is necessary. Jane Adams (fiction writer) seemed to have about the same, a little longer in the bibliography. I believe Wikipedia should be an authoritative source of material including author bios (I use it to look up practically most authors and actors/actresses and I am annoyed when there isn't one).
Is there something I should have done differently in putting the profile together? All pointers welcome and thank you in advance.
Elohim11 (talk) 20:12, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
Dear Reaper, I saw you cited G4 as the reason for deletion. I have not seen the content of the previous deleted page but I included citations and sources. Did you just delete it simply because a page with the same title had been deleted in the past?
Elohim11 (talk) 13:15, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, you had significantly less information than was in the initial article. My deletion was a technical deletion, because the Wikipedia community had already decided that there was no need for an article on David Amerland. (See the discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Amerland.) If you think you have sufficient sources and information proving notability, you can challenge the discussion at deletion review. I hope this helps. (And if you have trouble figuring out how to request review, feel free to let me know and I can file for you. Wikipedia's bureaucracy can be relatively difficult to figure out.) Proxy
What do you use for testing for proxies/ports? I'm in the habit of logging into a server and using nmap and other nix tools, which is likely not the most efficient way for use at Wikipedia. My old Windows scanning software isn't supported anymore, and I didn't really need until I became an admin, as nmap was fine for my off-wiki needs. Any opinion? Dennis Brown - 2¢ © 19:08, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- I just googled the IP and found that a proxy was apparently running on it. That's why I don't block; I leave it to people with the tools to properly evaluate the IP. Reaper Eternal (talk) 19:24, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Well, thank you for taking the time to answer me. My old program was 16 bit, and this 64 bit version of Windows won't run it. Guess I need to do some hunting. Dennis Brown - 2¢ © 19:27, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Can you explain to "Mick" for us
Can you answer "Mick"'s questions at User talk:Mick Jaguar about his block please, and explain the reason for assuming him to be a banned user, what the circumstantial evidence is and so on. Mick is still wet behind the ears and I don't think that he knows a thing about the DeFacto saga, or that he/she likely works (or at least until very recently worked) for this company, and these computers are blighted as far as running a Wikipedia account is concerned (come back in 5 minutes and see what has happened to this one if you don't believe me). Objection to speedy deletion of Princess Theodora von Auersperg
Hello -- I would like to object to the speedy deletion nomination placed by GregJackP. The Page now has been completed per all regulations, including a court document attesting to the lineage of the princess and an email from her granting permission to use her copyrighted material for the page. The page has references for all it's key information, and anything I couldn't find a reference for was deleted. I would like to ask that his nomination for speedy deletion be declined and the page be allowed to go live. Thank you for your consideration. (Tonypanaccio (talk) 01:37, 31 May 2012 (UTC))
- Hello! Has the email granting copyright permission been sent to permissions-en wikimedia.org? Is so, feel free to add
{{OTRS pending}}
to the article's talk page. An OTRS user will review the email and decide if that is sufficient to allow the text to be used on Wikipedia. If so, he will restore the content for you. Please understand that this is done to protect yours or another person's copyright and to prevent impersonation and false claims. For more detailed information, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Good luck! Reaper Eternal (talk) 02:19, 31 May 2012 (UTC) - It is not enough for the copyright holder to allow usage on Wikipedia only. It must be released from copyright and placed under the Creative Commons 3.0 license so that anyone is free to modify/edit the content. Otherwise, we cannot allow the material here. --MuZemike 02:26, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
The proper language has been sent to representatives of the Princess, so I could have added the OTRS pending info had the page not been deleted last night. I have a version of it in my sandbox, and there was a temp page, but that was deleted, too. I do not believe that the page deserved deletion. There were multiple sources for everything, and pending the copyright permission, there is no reason for it to have been removed other than people scoffing at her story. Could you please look at the version in my sandbox and let me revisit this? Thanks! (Tonypanaccio (talk) 12:07, 31 May 2012 (UTC))
I just received this via Princess Theodora. Is this the correct license?

GOCE May drive wrap-up
Guild of Copy Editors May 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Out of 54 people who signed up this drive, 32 copy-edited at least one article. Last drive's superstar, Lfstevens, again stood out, topping the leader board in all three categories and copy-editing over 700 articles. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: We were once again successful in our primary goal—removing the oldest three months from the backlog—while removing 1166 articles from the queue, the second-most in our history. The total backlog currently sits at around 2600 articles, down from 8323 when we started out just over two years ago. Coodinator election: The six-month term for our third tranche of Guild coordinators will be expiring at the end of June. We will be accepting nominations for the fourth tranche of coordinators, who will also serve a six-month term. Nominations will open starting on June 5. For complete information, please have a look at the election page. – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa, and Stfg To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list. Article Feedback Tool, Version 5
Hey all :)
Just a quick update on what we've been working on:
- The centralised feedback page is now live! Feel free to use it and all other feedback pages; there's no prohibition on playing around, dealing with the comments or letting others know about it, although the full release comes much later. Let me know if you find any bugs; we know it's a bit odd in Monobook, but that should be fixed in our deployment this week.
- On Thursday, 7th June we'll be holding an office hours session at 20:00 UTC in #wikimedia-office. We'll be discussing all the latest developments, as well as what's coming up next; hope to see you all there!
- Those of you who hand-coded feedback; I believe I contacted you all about t-shirts. If I didn't, drop me a line and I'll get it sorted out :).
Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:49, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

It's your block, but I'm inclined to suggest unblock/namechange. They seem to have acted in good faith and the links could be useful - and are non-commercial. Have another look and see what you think. Peridon (talk) 19:10, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'd be inclined to accept the unblock, but I don't think that the links are useful, as they merely lead to the university's site for scheduling times to come review their collections rather than to any actual information on the topic. (See WP:ELNO #1 and #6, and WP:EL#ADV.) On the other hand, citing the material itself would definitely be fine. Reaper Eternal (talk) 19:26, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead with the unblock, since they've agreed to quit spamming and change user names. Of course, any return to past behavior will not go over too well. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:30, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
P.S.
I see another IP has had similar problems with trying to remove stuff from a talk page. Is it possible to have that filter fixed so it doesn't prohibit the removal of content, just warns? I can think of plenty of legit reasons to do that kind of edit. Egg Centric 20:20, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Apparently you blocked me for "block evasion", a few days ago. What is that about and which block did i "evade"? I would assume, there would have to have been some block in the first place. AFT5 release coming up - help us design a banner!
Hey all :). First-off, thanks to everyone for all their help so far; we're coming up to a much wider deployment :). Starting at the end of this month, and scaling up until 3 July, AFT5 will begin appearing on 10 percent of articles. For this release we plan on sending out a CentralNotice that every editor will see - and for this, we need your help :). We've got plans, we know how long it's going to run for, where it's going to run...but not what it says. If you've got ideas for banners, give this page a read and submit your suggestion! GOCE July 2012 Copy Edit Drive
Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors
The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their July 2012 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on July 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on July 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goals are to eliminate the articles tagged in April, May and June 2011 from the queue and to complete all requests placed before the end of June. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 6 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", "Number of articles of over 5,000 words", "Number of articles tagged in April–June 2011", and "Longest article". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa and Stfg. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.
