Reliable source for a record label
Hi Rich, could you please help me to find any reliable source for a record label? It seems Discogs is not and I really don't see what could be more reliable than Discogs for a digital record label. Brainkicker (talk) 14:13, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

Added reference
Hi i have added a reference to the draft { Ref no.4 } https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mudasir_Zafar Article covers a sifnificant coverage and not just passing mentions. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by FilmIndia2020 (talk • contribs) 15:30, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
Hornby
Draft:Hornby, Lancaster shouldn't have been declined as a duplicate. Hornby-with-Farleton is an article about the (current) civil parish that was created from the merger of "Hornby" and "Farleton" parishes. Similar to the fact that there is a parish called Nayland-with-Wissington which was formed from the parishes of Nayland and Wissington. Brighton and Hove similarly was formed from the formerly separate units of Brighton and Hove. Most of the content at Hornby-with-Farleton#Hornby should be moved to the Hornby article but I was waiting until it was in mainspace before doing that. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:07, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Crouch, Swale: Fair enough, I would pop that on the talk page of your draft as reviewers normally do a quick search to see if an article already exists in a form. - RichT|C|E-Mail 20:53, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've put a note on the talk page. This doesn't happen that often but the articles should never have been merged (though its understandable why since they didn't have much content at the time) could you please accept the submission, thanks. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:07, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Crouch, Swale: You'll need to re-submit it - RichT|C|E-Mail 21:09, 5 July 2020 (UTC)

Hello Rich,
I have tried multiple times submitting this wikipedia page but I am having enormous difficulty. You stated that the resources do not cover the content. Can you please assist me in editing?

Problems
- The Score extension has been disabled for now. This is because of a security issue. It will work again as soon as the security issue has been fixed. [1]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 July. It will be on all wikis from 9 July (calendar).
Future changes
- Abstract Wikipedia is a new Wikimedia project. It will collect language-independent information that can be easily read in different languages. It builds on Wikidata. The name is preliminary. You can read more. [2]
- The iOS Wikipedia app developers are thinking about new experimental tools. If you use an iPhone you can help them by answering the survey.
- Some rules for user signatures will soon be enforced. Lint errors and invalid HTML will no longer be allowed in user signatures. Nested substitution will not be allowed. A link to your user page, user talk page or user contributions will be required. You can check if your signature works with the new rules. This is because the signatures can cause problems for tools or other text on the page.

Thanks for your brief note. My first submission and clearly not up to par. I will find more sources and try again.

Rich-- can you confirm that its been submitted? I am new to this and was confused by your "moved to" note. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DPForrester (talk • contribs) 16:57, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

Draft UArchitects:mention of awards
Dear Rich Smith,
In your last message you have pointed out the mention of the awards, however these mentions are not used to promote the office. They have been given by an independent professional jury , for already completed projects.
Many architectural office's mention their awards in the wikipedia page, these are a few examples: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bjarke_Ingels_Group https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atelier_Kempe_Thill
I would like to know what the diffrence in our submission.
Kind regards,

Categories + photo
Hi Rich, Many thanks for your help with Clarke's page. I now able to restart the work on the page and have three questions: 1 - I don't seem to be able to add categories, how can I do that 2 - in the failed page of Clarke I added his photo and I am sure it wasn't used in other pages or serves, can I use it now? 3 - for some reason I am a bit afraid to save the changes - the only option I see is publish page and this is probably to finish the work and try to publish online, and I don't want to do that yet, jut sabe the changes. How do I do that_ Many thanks for all the help you can give. With best regards, Elisabete — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elisabete A Silva (talk • contribs) 14:34, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Elisabete A Silva:
- 1. Categories do not get added to draft pages, these can be done after approval. If you want to put a placeholder category in for later, you can do so [[:Category:Like This]] (note the : before Category). Place these just above the 'AFC submission' template at the bottom of the page.
- 2. Don't add photos to drafts, they add nothing to a draft and can be added later.
- 3. Publish page == Save Changes. The wording is a bit odd
- - RichT|C|E-Mail 14:50, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
>>>>>Elisabete: Many thanks for the help. I made the changes you suggested with the categories, I won-t add the photo too,...the roding is indeed odd :)
>>>>>Elisabete: final question: would it be possible to publish Clarke's articule instead of waiting 7 weeks for the review?. I feel confident what with your help, Lopifalko and DoubleGrazing this page will be ok. Will this be a risk and should I wait or can I do that? and if so I do I move a page waiting to be reviewed to awaiting ok to be published ? Many thanks for all the continuous support, with best regards, Elisabete — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elisabete A Silva (talk • contribs) 15:47, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Elisabete A Silva: No, do not move the page yourself, wait for the review. I saw in your latest edit you literally added Category:Like This to the article... you need to change 'Like This' to the category you want to add the article to, adding multiples of them for different categories. Example: If I was writing an article about a Playstation 4 game, I might add Category:Video Games and Category:Playstation 4 Games - RichT|C|E-Mail 16:15, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
>>>>Elisabete: :@Rich Smith: Hi, sorry, I assumed you wanted that I copy past the exact words. I will make that correction. I will also keep the page, I don't move the page until I am told to do so. Best regards, Elisabete p.s. Do you think there are other issues with the page that are worth correcting?

- Users can thank others for their edits. Checkusers can now see user data related to that action. This can help identify sock puppets who harass others using thanks. [3]
Problems
- Everyone was logged out a couple of weeks ago to fix a security problem. The problem was not entirely fixed. Because of this everyone was logged out once again last week. [4][5]
Changes later this week
- Wikis that are not for one specific language can translate pages. Sometimes parts of translations are outdated or missing. Outdated translations are marked with a pink background. Missing translations will also be marked in the future. This markup can sometimes break things. It can soon be disabled by using
<translate nowrap></translate>
on the source page. [6] - The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 14 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 15 July. It will be on all wikis from 16 July (calendar).

Original post of the life of Rear Admiral Admiral Tony Watson (Ret)
Rich:
The family of admiral Watson found out about the Wikipedia page and kindly asked to have it deleted. He is still alive and they are worried about negativity in this sensitive environment. I can't control the page but I wish to honor their/his request. Can you advise and help? --DPForrester (talk) 20:31, 13 July 2020 (UTC)Daniel F

Drafts
Hi Rich You have moved a couple of my draft articles to the draft space, but one effect of this appears to be that my account is no longer working properly. This is what I get on my user page:
User:AbiGoodwins From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to navigationJump to search Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact name. In general, this page should be created and edited by User:AbiGoodwins. If in doubt, please verify that "AbiGoodwins" exists. Start the User:AbiGoodwins page. Search for "AbiGoodwins" in existing pages of namespace User. Look for pages within Wikipedia that link to this title. Other reasons this message may be displayed:
If a page was recently created here, it may not be visible yet because of a delay in updating the database; wait a few minutes or try the purge function. Titles on Wikipedia are case sensitive except for the first character; please check alternative capitalizations and consider adding a redirect here to the correct title. If the page has been deleted, check the deletion log, and see Why was the page I created deleted?.
How do I correct this? I'm new to Wikipedia editing, so am a bit confused. I got round the first problem by just deleting the first draft in my sandbox and creating another, but don't know what to do about my user page.
Thanks very much
Best regards

Template:help me
Thanks for responding. The documentation on the template page is in this case a little poor – "If you need help, you can place this template on any talk page". In the present case I hoped that someone with a knownledge of Aboriginal languages might respond. Is it worth clarifying the template documentation to emphasise that is should only be used for "Wikipedia-specific – editing, navigating etc"? Do you want to take this on board, or should I add it to my list of things to do when I get around to it? Regards, Martin of Sheffield (talk) 14:09, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Martin of Sheffield: it's a valid point which has annoyed me for a while, but I really don't like editing templates that are very widely used. My advice to you would be to post on the templates talk page Template talk:Help me with your concerns - RichT|C|E-Mail 14:13, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Recent changes
- A temporary fix helped wikis make their main pages more mobile friendly. This was in 2012. It has not been recommended since 2017. The mobile main page special casing stopped working 14 July. 60 wikis now have main pages that don't work well on mobile. You can see which ones, how to fix it and how to get help in Phabricator. This is the same problem that was reported in Tech News 2020/24 and 2020/26.
Problems
- There is a problem with the interlanguage links. The interlanguage links are the links that help you find a specific page in a different language. The sorting is broken. The developers are working on a solution. [11]
- Some users keep getting the notifications for the same event. Some of these are old events. [12]
- Some users have trouble logging in. This is probably a browser cookie problem. The developers are working on understanding the problem. If you have trouble logging in you can see the details on Phabricator. [13]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 21 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 22 July. It will be on all wikis from 23 July (calendar).
Future changes
- There is a
Printable version
link. This will disappear. That is because web browsers today can create a printable version or show how it will look in print anyway. [14]

Bot edit summaries
Hi. I've noticed your NoSandboxesHere bot leaving the edit summary "I Have Removed An Template Which Is Not Valid In Draftspace". I'd like to suggest that it be changed to sentence case (instead of capitalizing each word) so as to set a good example for newbies who might see it. The "An" should also be "a". Thanks. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 23:57, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
