Your GA nomination of TVX Broadcast Group
The article TVX Broadcast Group you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:TVX Broadcast Group for comments about the article, and Talk:TVX Broadcast Group/GA1 for the nomination. Triple Crown
I know you've been given it once already, but congrats on the new featured content in particular! I've added the extra two sets to your entry. — Bilorv (talk) 20:10, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Bilorv Thank you! I should do another FAC for five, but WWJ-TV took eight weeks to pass. Are there triple crown userboxes? Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 20:28, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

TFA?
Also pinging @Nathan Obral. I'm thinking of running WWJ-TV at TFA on January 29; does that work for you two? - Dank (push to talk) 03:28, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Dank I also want to give Nathan a chance to answer, but the reason I had yet to take it to TFA was that I was eyeing it for February to coincide with Black History Month in the U.S. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 03:46, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

- Btw, you're welcome to run it on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan 15) if you like. - Dank (push to talk) 04:08, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Dank: Thinking about this with Sammi Brie, Martin Luther King Jr. Day would be an appropriate choice. The William V. Banks Broadcast Museum (WGPR-TV/FM Studio) opened on this holiday in 2017, plus Martin Luther King Jr. had left a major impact on Detroit and that symbolism feels fitting. - TFAR wouldn't work because I'll be clearing out this month's TFAR soon. I'll have a blurb for you to look at this morning, and you're welcome to comment or edit it. - Dank (push to talk) 13:25, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

REC US Template
I have come up with a template to replace the Radio-Locator one. It would show like this....
{{User:Neutralhomer/sandbox|12345|WAAA}}
The facility ID would come first, the callsign section and it would read, simply, User:Neutralhomer/sandbox (bold for emphasis) with a direct link to that page. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:23, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- BTW, of course, it would be on named something outside my Sandbox. I was thinking something like "Template:RECUS" (Template:REC is already in use). - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:26, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Neutralhomer: {{Rec}} was a navbox, since moved, with seven transclusions (which I've pointed to the current name). That said, I do think that it should have a more descriptive name, probably {{REC US}}.
- This template should exist, and it's baffling that it doesn't now. Where I'm a little waffly is that it'd be the first time at the infobox level that a non-official authority link has been placed in the navbox. That said, because we're requiring a facility ID, we can't use it in {{AM station data}}/{{FM station data}} like the Radio-Locator ones were. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 05:11, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- I wasn't thinking of the Infobox, I was more along the lines of thinking about adding it in the External Links section. But what if we could connect the "Facility ID" field of the infobox to the template and then place it in the infobox. It would be less work (for us or the bot, whoever). I'm just not sure how to do that. We might need help from WP:WikiProject Templates on either one (External Links or Infobox). - Neutralhomer • Talk • 05:49, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Neutralhomer I don't think it's possible to call a parameter from another template transclusion. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 05:50, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- Actually, we do now. It's {{FCC-LMS-Facility|{{{facility_id}}}|3=LMS}} and within the Template:Infobox radio station. When you look at the source, it's all the way at the bottom. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 05:59, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- See this edit for where it is.] - Neutralhomer • Talk • 06:01, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

- @Neutralhomer Yeah, I should know; I put that there. You can call that...within...the...infobox. I can't build a page with an infobox and then, outside the infobox, have a template dynamically calling for a parameter from that infobox. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 06:05, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- OK, let me back up for clarification, are you wanting to the REC link within the infobox or in the External Links section? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 06:08, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- It'd be easier to use in the infobox, but we've never used an unofficial mirror there. It can be used as an external link, but that's a lot of new transclusions to be done by hand. A bot job would likely bring the infobox link capability (as it exists now, LMS and public file where available) to all the US radio stations that can use it. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 06:22, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- Then I think the most logical course of action is to put it in the infobox and let the bot clean up the LMS/Public File capabilities. That would also allow the old AMQ/FMQ links to be officially retired (since the CDBS links are deprecated). Do we need to take this to the community (WPRS or elsewhere) for consensus? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 00:14, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- AMQ and FMQ do not need to go. They've been converted to LMS. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 00:33, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- I just checked and both AMQ and FMQ (I'm talking about the ones in the External Links section) are still directing to https://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/*mq?call={{{1}}}. Just sayin'. In the infobox, it does link to LMS. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 02:09, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- The Queries were changed to be powered on the back end by LMS. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 02:16, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

So what's the plan for the REC template? Is that something you wanna make/implement, should I do it (and how), do we need to take it to a !vote? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 23:56, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry for not getting to this. I need to figure out how to handle the whole "adding parameters to nearly 13K infobox instances" piece. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 00:16, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- No worries. :) What about this and then you place it below the LMS part of the "data51" field on Template:Infobox radio station? That would instantly add it to all pages. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 01:32, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Neutralhomer There is a place for it in the template, as I am very aware. I'm just not sure that this template merits inclusion alongside the LMS link in the infobox, and it certainly should not replace it. ({{REC US}} is now live.) Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 01:50, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- No, it definitely shouldn't replace it. It's just a replacement for Radio-Locator and in a better, more visible place. :) - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:28, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

So I need help, I've been trying to figure out how to get the "i" in the tile to be lowercase because that's how it's displayed in the show as a lowercase letter, not uppercase, and I'm not able to. Could you be able to fix this problem? OWaunTon (talk) 23:56, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- @OWaunTon You use {{DISPLAYTITLE}}. Because {{Infobox television}} tries to italicize the title as well, that behavior must be suppressed (which I've done as well). Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 00:01, 18 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello Sammi Brie, thank you for reviewing the above mentioned article. I see the only mentioned problem at GA was critical reception, if I were to add it, would the article now be eligible for reviewal? dxneo (talk) 05:07, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Dxneo Probably. Take a look at a good album GA. The article is going to need to be at least twice as long as it is now. To pick a random example to show you structure and other tools, Ungodly Hour. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 05:22, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- There are no album charts in South Africa therefore it did not chart, and it was obviously not performed anywhere since it is posthumously released by a record label, referring to Ungodly Hour I think the only thing missing is critical reception and credits and personnel. dxneo (talk) 05:43, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- I would agree, obviously as a posthumous release. The critical reception alone will help you a lot. I can imagine this is a tough one to write about because the artist was deceased, affecting promotion and other "typical" activities around an album. I just couldn't seriously review a good article nominee at only 385 words in length. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 05:54, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

On 9 January 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article WTHT (Connecticut), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Analog cable
You're absolutely correct, Category:Analog cable television networks in Canada vs. Category:Digital cable television networks in Canada isn't a useful or functional distinction anymore in a 2024 context. That said, there still is a distinction to be drawn between the "standard package" channels and the "add-on pack" channels, but analog vs. digital obviously doesn't have anything to do with it anymore, and the official classification that does exist now, "discretionary" vs. "premium", is a little too opaque to actually serve as a point of categorization — so I'm not sure whether the best solution would be to rename them to something else (with a bit of reclassification where needed) or to just collapse them both into one new shared category.
Thanks for the catch, as I haven't been around that category tree in a hot minute, so I likely wouldn't have noticed myself that it was still using such an outdated classification. But I'll save you the trouble of having to take it to CFD, and sort it out myself later today. Bearcat (talk) 15:25, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, I've merged them both into Category:Cable television channels in Canada, and I've voted in support of your CFD on the Category C cat. Bearcat (talk) 16:18, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Blue alert
I saw that you added a description and I see I forgot that I somehow added details about a law that the article previously said was never passed. I'm not sure how to prove it was, other than the source I used for my edit.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 15:52, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Vchimpanzee: Sorry to piggyback, but while I am unsure of a nationwide system for Blue Alerts, North Carolina does have them. I live in Virginia and NC issued one (which Virginia stations received) on December 30th after an officer in Greensboro was killed in the line of duty. Here's a link to the story regarding them after the officer was killed. Here are two links regarding them. This story does mention the Blue Alerts started in Florida as a "LEO Alert" in 2008, North Carolina started using them in 2016. The same story (from WRAL) links to this website, which has state specific dates. That site, which is apparently the official website for the Blue Alert Foundation (which organizes these laws with state governments), mentions "federal law enforcement officers". So, it might have to do with something on the Federal level, but I'll leave that up to you. Hope this is helpful....Neutralhomer • Talk • 16:47, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- My source said Obama signed the law. So somewhere between what was there and what is there now something took place. It's just a matter of figuring out how to find it.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 16:49, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I just knew a little about them since there was that one in North Carolina on December 30th. To be honest, I don't think Virginia has ever used theirs (I didn't even know we had one). But since North Carolina is a border state, we get their alerts too. Anyway, hope it helped and was useful information. Take Care...Neutralhomer • Talk • 20:24, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

Sammi, you need to have a talk with this user, as they have been added unsourced content and extraneous detail, particularly at WLII-DT and WKAQ-TV. I've already reported them at WP:ANI. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 21:31, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Mvcg66b3r ANI is a last resort. You didn't even bother to engage them on their talk page. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 21:42, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, I find this unnecessary. The section of the article I fixed has plenty of credible sources from different local Puerto Rican outlets. What I fixed today was a section related to a show that now has its own Wikipedia Article thus I reduced the amount of information and added a link to the show's new article. Nothing I added is unsourced, nothing I added has "extrenous detail" in fact my edit fixed a portion of the article that had too many details that were not needed anymore since a page for the show had been created. Your accusations are baseless and unnecessary and I find it odd that in your complaint you say "you didn't even bother to engage with them on their talk page" when you yourself didn't reach out to me about this issue either, instead you have been reporting me without checking the sources provided and without verifying the information. Do you even actually keep up with the information regarding WLII? Cause I live in Puerto Rico and am watching the station as we speak. There's no need to engage in a back and forth, we are all working together to keep the article as updated and as recent as possible. I am more than welcome to discuss this with you as adults without the need for accusations or reports. PR2021 (talk) 21:50, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- @PR2021 Mvcg66b3r likes to ping me on issues and has a habit of throwing issues to ANI when they never should be escalated that high—I was not criticizing you, I was criticizing him.
- This is the first I'm hearing of any "issue" in this article, so let me take a look from scratch (Special:Diff/1194808399). I do think your style is a bit dense at times, but that's not a fault that requires reversion, and your edits improved the WLII article. I also understand that PR TV stations produce a lot more non-news programming than their mainland U.S. counterparts and some level of density on programming is an absolute must.
- One thing I will say that would be a good change of practice for US articles (and which I've started to implement) looking at your WKAQ diff is that we don't need to list "deceased" next to the entries of dead former staff that have articles. I had that pointed out to me at either GAN or FAC as unusual for the encyclopedia. Information about later stops, etc., can be included in the person's article.
- Also, while I have you here, the archive of El Mundo 1919–1990 is now available for free online and will likely prove very valuable in improving our PR TV coverage. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 22:01, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, none of my message were directed at you, by the way, I thought I was replying solely/directly to MVC. I appreciate the feedback and will apply it to future edits. Indeed local stations here produce a lot of non-news programming which is why I'm working on getting pages set up for the shows and redirect any information of the programs towards their pages rather than clunking the article of the station with a long list of programming notes. Again, thank you for the speedy reply. PR2021 (talk) 22:07, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- @PR2021 I'm fluent enough in Spanish that I can assist if so desired; my first thought is why is it not La bóveda de Teleonce with accented O? It's even in the logo. By the way, I'm on WP:DISCORD if that's an easier way to find me. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 22:10, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- I would appreciate the help thank you. You are absolutely right on the La Bóveda name, I started the article by going to the list of Puerto Rican Television Series and clicking the link already on that page to start building it. Both links on that page did not have the accent and I did not know how to change it so I left it that way. Is that something that can be remedied now that the article is done? Minor nitpick about transclusion count
Not sure how you got only 170, but there were about 1200 transclusions of this template. Fortunately I managed to automate 1000 of the conversions but I wasn't expecting to need to do this much work! Primefac (talk) 16:47, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Primefac Presumably it was being transcluded in another template? I had no idea. Also, the article moves you just made should not have been done. Thank you and your colleague today for WWJ-TV, introduced: "Ask either of us about the most culturally significant TV station we've written and this will be our unequivocal answer. Channel 62 in Detroit started life in September 1975, after a years-long struggle to secure financing, as WGPR-TV, the first Black-owned TV station in the United States. Owned by a Black Masonic group, it was a high-visibility station at its launch with very ambitious programming plans, key portions of which never materialized. However, some of its local shows stuck, and it produced a string of notable local and national Black broadcast professionals. In 1994, a major TV station affiliation switch swept the nation and left CBS looking for a new affiliate in Detroit. CBS failed to secure a better station, and the desperate network bought WGPR-TV from the International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, in the process removing the Black- and community-oriented programming channel 62 had long carried (and raising some community outcry). Today, the former WGPR studios are on the National Register of Historic Places, and in the old TV studio is a museum devoted to its history. CBS renamed the station WWJ-TV, for the radio station it owned there. For many years, it never thoroughly invested in this high-number station. It floated but quickly abandoned an attempt to start a news department in 1995; upon merging with WKBD-TV, that station's ailing news department briefly extended to channel 62 before dying; and there was a morning weather-and-news program for a few years. That changed in a big way in February, when a full online streaming service and news department known as CBS News Detroit debuted. This is a big dog of a project, and it's one that we have found quite fulfilling. It is also Nathan's first time at FAC."

If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. DYK for Civ-Alert
On 15 February 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Civ-Alert, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that an editorial cartoon in The Honolulu Advertiser called Civ-Alert "Hawaii's Paul Revere"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Civ-Alert. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Civ-Alert), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

OpenHistoricalMap
Hi, I wanted to belatedly thank you for all the improvements you made to WSTR-TV and other Cincinnati-area articles. Many of these station articles have suffered from poorly informed speculation, so I really appreciate the work you've done to get the citations in order.
Incidentally, I've started to map some of these stations' studios and towers in OpenHistoricalMap, which would eventually make it easier to put early station histories in context. For example, until I mapped the past and current studios of WXIX-TV, I hadn't realized the station had moved across town and back to essentially the same block that it started on. For WBQC-LD, plotting the signal range around its old location would help to illustrate why cable companies found it so easy to ignore them for so long. There are some technical hurdles for embedding OHM content into Wikipedia articles like the existing OSM maps, but the main obstacle is the lack of data.
Please let me know if I can help with any questions you have about OHM, and thanks again!

- @Mxn I had not heard of OHM before, so this is cool. I can top your second example—we can get contour maps for stations (something I've pioneered in the last year), and there are articles that use them (e.g. Nebraska Television Network, New Country Y-107). Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 06:48, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
- Unrelated note: My public broadcasting mind, thought the Nebraska Television Network was named something else, even though, I think having a contour map for Nebraska Public Media's Television stations would be cool as well as helpful. mer764KCTV(Talk) 19:52, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

The correct procedure for dealing with questionably sourced claims is to add a "possibly contains original research" tag at the top of the article or "citation needed" tags after the individual disputed claims, and then give interested readers a few weeks to accumulate sources. Correct procedure is NOT to indiscriminately delete half of the article! 98.234.13.133 (talk) 01:05, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
- I'll first note that I did not handle all of the deletions, but I'll also note this. KPYX is one of about 150 pages I have that has been written to the Good article criteria with a view to being nominated for GA later, in addition to 113 GAs that I already have. Most are TV stations. It'll be very difficult for me to do that with as much unreferenced, or unreferenceable to anything but a schedule, material as was added in those edits. I've spent a lot of time lately excising cruft from our coverage of TV stations, in some cases reducing the article text size by 60 percent or more. That sometimes means that material is removed because a reliable source cannot support it. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 01:11, 18 February 2024 (UTC)

Kansas City TV
Hello Sammi. I really loved the improvements you made for KCTV Channel 5, KSHB-TV Channel 41, KSMO-TV Channel 62, and KCPT Channel 19. However, I think it'll might be cool working on or improving the articles for KMBC-TV Channel 9 and WDAF-TV Channel 4. KMCI Channel 38 and KCWE Channel 29 might be more difficult since those are some new TV stations in KC terms. Keep up the good work. mer764KCTV(Talk) 02:34, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Mer764Wiki I've done KMCI, but it's not the most interesting station. KCWE is a prime candidate for a de-sludge a la my recent KAUT-TV work (the same editor left extra-dense material in both). I have a good amount of KC material from doing 5, 19, 41, and 62...and the market is frankly a goldmine of content. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 03:11, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't know you already did KMCI. Next step is a de-sludge for KCWE, and potentially Fox 4 KC, and KMBC 9. mer764KCTV(Talk) 04:16, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
- Unrelated note, KCPT is still technically in the GAN phase of the article. mer764KCTV5(Talk) 13:37, 18 February 2024 (UTC)

For all of your hard work over the years to truly raise the standards on both WP:WPRS and WP:TVS by leaps and bounds, first with an amazing amount of DYKs, then dozens of GAs and several FAs. It has been rewarding being your 🦝 partner-in-crime on multiple tag-team efforts. Your encouragement of me to go beyond my comfort zone and work on my own articles has meant an awful lot. Speaking of WAXC-LD, that article could use some work. Too bad there isn't much to go by on Newspapers.com; the Alexander City paper only goes to 1988. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 03:31, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
The article KMIZ you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:KMIZ and Talk:KMIZ/GA1 for issues which need to be addressed.
